We had 5pm reservations on a sat night. We were seated at 5:30 and the server came to our table at 6:00 to take our drink orders. She returned a few minutes later and accidentally dumped 3 full glasses of ice water on our table. Everything was soaked. The server said she needed a minute and left. I went to the bar to get a towel to begin to clean the table. When I returned, the server was trying to soak up the water with one napkin. She soon left. We waited for a 1/2 hour with a soaking table and floor and finally left because no one was coming to help out. We laugh about it, but it was sad. read more

First and last time we ate at P.F. Chang's. Very disappointing on both food and service, and we had been excited to try them. They may have been great at one point, but not now. First the front desk staff was not organized and seemed confused all the time. Even though we had done a reservation hours before, we did not get seated until over 30 minutes past our reservation time. 15 minutes before our reservation we checked in, and at our reservation time and then again 15 minutes after and then again 30 minutes with each time they said that a table was opening up in a couple of minutes. 30 minutes after our reservation I stood there waiting seeing 3 tables open they seemed confused and finally sat us. For 3 people it cost well over $100 for 3 entrees with an appetizer and we found the food bland and our favorite dishes from our local Chinese takeout place were much better for less than half the cost. Atmosphere and mediocre service is only worth so much if the food is not good. Service was mediocre. 4 front desk people that had lots of people waiting and they were disorganized. Our waiter was nice enough but seemed distracted all the time. He asked us what option we wanted with our entry and listed 3 options, but never mentioned it was a separate additional cost. He never asked about drink refills and would disappear for long gaps. Since it is really about the food, the Mongolian beef portion was small and dry with little flavor and very disappointing. The beef Lo Mein noodles had no flavor and were more like spaghetti noodles than Lo Mein noodles and only 3 pieces of beef in the whole entree. The Sesame chicken was bland. And the fried dumplings sauce had no flavor. In every case we soaked the entrees with soy sauce to try and add some flavor. read more

When we first arrived the lady was very confused about seating us. It took a while and there were plenty of tables. There were no noodles on the table. I may be old fashioned but I do like that. If you do go there with a group of people, don't order the wonton soup for 6. It doesn't feed six people. It doesn't even serve 5. Some people did not get any wontons in their soup. The wontons were very tiny. So then we ordered dumplings. They were not good at all. Ginger tea was ordered. One tea cup was given and another tea cup which was a very tiny sized cup was given. The cup looked like it was for a doll. They were very generous with the rice though. There was a huge bowl of brown rice. At the end, there was an option to pay with your phone. There program was not working though. So we could not pay that way. There was no fortune cookies at the end or an orange. I think I will go to a real Chinese restaurant next time. Food came out hot and was delicious. We had the lettuce wraps, egg rolls and northern egg rolls to start. Main courses were the sauteed eggplant and the ginger chicken with broccoli. You have your choice of white or brown rice with it. We were so full that we took leftovers home. Mango iced tea was refreshing. Our server, Ibrahin, was terrific. He was very attentive to not only our table but all the others around us that he was serving. Main courses took a bit to come out but we were fine waiting since we had the appetizers and he was apologetic about it. It's definitely not the servers fault if the kitchen is backed up. I did give it 4 stars instead of 5 because the young lady at the front that was seating people didn't seem to be to with it. We went for cocktails and apps at the bar and it took 40 minutes to get a single drink made, our apps were made wrong and had to be remade which we then had to take to go since we had somewhere to be, and the service was just bad. They just opened two weeks ago so things are a little dicey. The environment looks plush, but the noise level is deafening. Music is way too loud and bad choice of music. They're clearly over staffed. There were wait staff just milling around and leaning on a column looking bored. If they have nothing to do they should stay out of sight. The service was nice but annoying. The waiter asked us 87 times if we needed anything. Two managers asked as well. Just let us eat the food! Food was good. Calamari was a bit odd in that it was clumped together in a way that made it hard to eat. The short ribs fried rice was really good but too spicy. The salmon was our best dish. We had one problem. My daughter has celiac disease so she eats gluten free. Her food came very late, after everyone else's and was cold. The manager comped the meal and provided free desserts, but my daughter was still unhappy. I would go back, but they have some issues to work on. read more

As we walked in for lunch on Sunday the hostess was on the phone with another staff member standing next to her- As soon as HE saw us he disappeared. The hostess NEVER looked up until she finished what seemed to be a personal call. Her FIRST question was what was my name and phone number, assuming it was to put us on the reservation list then i realizes there was only ONE other table seated. When I told her I dont give out my phone number she gave me a dirty look then took the menus and said follow her. She seated us at a table that was a sticky mess with soy sauce spilled at the end- again, she did this without ANY eye contact or niceties. well, we moved- then took 20 minutes for a server to see us who was very nice and polite (the only positive takeaway). I ordered the orange chicken and what a mess! Its was absolutely disgusting! Not only was the chicken tough and flavorless except from the slices of orange they put at the bottom of the plate to hide the taste of garbage but there were hairs from the cleaning brush all over. So, we asked for the check and left thinking that would be the end of it. NOPE- 20 minutes later my wife and I each performed bowel movements to end all bowl movements in the Macy's bathroom. sorry for anyone that had to hear that, you know- one of those that sounded like playing a trumpet in pudding. Ordered the family dinner for 2 for takeout. Over $40 with tax which is pricier than many. First was the appetizer, which was some kind of ground chicken with leaves of lettuce on the side as a wrap. Tasty but greasy, and a lot of the lettuce leaves were broken so very hard to make wraps. Next the wonton soup, which I have to admit was tasty with the soup including mushrooms and baby shrimp. However, the wontons were small with only about 5 of them. Also got chicken fried rice, which although it had chunks of chicken had minimal taste. The main dish was Mongolian beef. This is usually a favorite of ours, but in this case was extremely disappointing. The beef was so overcooked it was like beef Jerky. Was it fried? Also, there was no sauce so it was extremely dry. This review is based on service not food quality. The last two times I've ordered food to go it was a very long wait. The last time was on Labor day and after waiting more than a half hour then being told it would still be another 15 minutes I cancelled my order. I had pre-paid but was told the credit was put on my credit card. Four days later and still no credit so I'm going to have to call and complain. Place is definitely understaffed. We were hungry after a movie at AMC and decided to stop in PF Chang for a bite. My friend had never been to PF Chang and it had been a long time for me. Every staff member was very pleasant and inviting. We walked in from the road mistakenly into the take out section, but we were pleasantly escorted by the staff to the restautant. Our waitor, Matt D, was so kind and friendly and made sure we had time for us to peruse the menu and checked on accommodating my friend's food allergy. Did not bring some of the drinks until after the entrees were served and told me one of the entrees I wanted was not available but found out it was. Even though we complained to the manager he did not offer any compensation for our bad experience. He could have at least offered to remove the cost of the drinks from the bill or given us a discount. Horrible customer service by Jay at the front desk. When asked if any of the servers wear mask his response was highly confrontational. I understand being a host is not a glamorous positions but the customer service provided is what makes it breaks a customers experience. Whether you agree with why I ask is irrelevant to the experience I should have has a customer. He was not open or interested in providing a good experience or show any level of concern, he was more interested in holding a combative stance. I am not sure if this is his natural disposition or lack of training. We chose to eat elsewhere, as I approached the desk to inform the other host he was laughing and talking about our encounter, with his coworker, again demonstrating Unprofessional and immature behavior for a host . If Jay is a host at PF chang Rockaway perhaps he is better suited for mall security if his disposition remains the same . I appreciate those who work in the food service industry. Being a business owner I know how challenging it can be but it is all about hiring the right people and putting them in the right position. So, whatever role Jay plays at PF chang Rockaway he has just earned a negative review . Well done! I hope others get a different experience. PF chang is a great place to dine, but it is the food coupled with the service that make the experience great. Jay ruined that opportunity. It took over an hour to get our main course for a party of 2. While the server wasn't responsible for the ridiculously slow kitchen, he had this annoying way of over-explaining things that he wasn't sure about re. menu items. and why the table wasn't cleaned before we sat down. But he was not attentive to things he should have been like refilling drinks (we had to ask another server), and he had to eat his words when we first got seated (he initially told us we "came at a great time and should receive our order amazingly fast" ). One hour later he was apologizing to us about the 1 hr+ wait. Guests who got seated after us also complained to a manager (after we also complained) that they had waited 30 min. before even being greeted. After the food was served and we were almost done, he came over and apologized for not checking on us. His excuse was that he didn't want to be annoying ... then he dived into a minutes-long tutorial about their new QR code system that's used for people to pay. Food wasn't bad, but not worth the crazy long wait and honestly, even more annoying service. Sadly as much as I love PF Changs, i will not be going back here. read more
