15/10 recommend!!!! we loved coming here! we came in just to check it out and the owner behind the counter was so nice to us! she gave us a rice cake just to try and it was delicious. the texture was definitely unbeatable. we ended up getting the seasoned tofu and burdock root. we also got the rice cake with kinako soy bean powder. best rice cakes we have ever had! such delicious texture and fresh ingredients. we are so sad we aren't local because we would come here weekly if we lived nearby.

I've heard so much about this place. Finally had a chance to stop by. I LOVE rice cakes, all kinds of rice cakes. They had a few rice cake dessert choices and mostly plain rice cake for sale. The rainbow ones are my favorite so I grabbed that and the powdered ones in the picture. I felt so welcome coming in, the ahjumas spoke Korean to me the entire time lol. She even gave my son and I each a free roll of rice cake, in the pic- warm and ready to eat. Everything tastes like it was made in the back. I love it! Next time I will come back and try their kimchi dishes.

"Rice Cake House" isn't so accurate as much as this place has way more than just rice cakes. However, it was this name that drew me in the first place, because I was seeking out rice cakes, without having to fight with all of the savvy ajummas at H-Mart who get there earlier than I can and bogart all the good stuff. Rice cakes are an important part of first birthdays in my culture, and I wanted to be as accurate as I could be with my child's first. Plus, I love rice cakes, and it would be the perfect excuse to get a whole bunch to have. I called them ahead of my visit to make sure I could order what I was looking for, and I had to struggle through my rudimentary Korean to convey my message, but we managed. They were friendly and more than happy to accommodate my needs, and when I explained the needs for a traditional first birthday, they took the reigns without much more explanation needed. This place is located off of (shocker) Buford Highway, closer to the I-285 section of Doraville. They're located in the Pinetree Plaza, on the side strip probably best described as where Chef Liu's used to be and is some hot pot joint now. PN Rice Cake House is further down the strip from them. Be aware that PN is taking the pandemic extremely seriously, and they have a current rule of only one group allowed inside at a time, so if there's anyone inside when you get there, you might have to wait outside. Frankly, I appreciate the extreme caution and I wish more people and businesses did too but that's just a personal opinion. Inside, the business is not large, and it's easy to see why they only want one group in at a time. Aside from the rice cakes, which only takes up like a 1/4 of their retail space, the business is an oasis of traditional Korean banchan (side dishes) and most of all, large varieties and sizes of kimchee. But seeing as how there were people behind me, I didn't want to take too long, so I couldn't really examine prices so much as I could simply marvel at their variety and availability. I simply got my custom order and left, to be courteous to them and those waiting to get in after me. All the same, their rice cakes were fresh, of fantastic quality, and I was more than proud to put them on display for my child's virtual first birthday party. More importantly, they were delicious, and since a one-year old can only eat so much rice cake, I basically stuffed my face with the rest of it over the next few days. I recommend this place to anyone who is jonesing for some rice cakes, or is looking for some traditional Korean banchan, without wanting to fight the crowds at your local H-Mart. The staff is friendly, they take their safety measures seriously, and the quality of their product, as indicative of their rice cakes, lends a lot of confidence that it's probably great.

Wow, did we sure stock up on Korean side dishes (plus alpha) here! This place is more than just a rice cake house - they have packed this little shop with Korean refrigerated favorites, most if not all made in-house. Noticeably, they had a spectrum of various kimchi types (1/2 gallon napa cabbage kimchi is $9.95), along with 2 standalone cold cases of banchan. They also have dumplings, soondae, steamed buns, and of course, assorted rice cakes - both plain for cooking and ready-to-eat prepared. They also have another wall dedicated to raw pantry ingredients like bulk legumes, grain powders, etc that we didn't shop from, but might of interest to others. As mentioned below me, the owner may hand you a complimentary fresh rice cake (eat it fast, it hardens in an hour or so if not kept warm). Since we have at-risk family members that best stay away from larger Asian grocery stores thus had difficulty purchasing, especially refrigerated, Korean foods - this place is truly a gem for us! I personally also commend this place for being strict with public health practices. Be prepared to wait to enter if there is another party ahead of you. Also be aware they only operate Wed-Sat due to Covid-19.

I'm new to Atlanta with no family here so you can imagine how delightful this place was to me! The owner lady was nice and offered me fresh rice cake samples. I plan to come back after I taste this batch of banchans (bought 5 different kinds)!

LOVE their rice cakes! Huge variety- this is my favorite. $5

Such friendly service when I go in. No better sweet rice cakes in the Atlanta area. The overall taste and quality of the rice cakes are better than Sweet Rice in Duluth. The assorted banchan sides are also very well prepared and tasty. From things like homemade kimchi, pickled garlic, sweetened lotus, and more. It's hard to choose! From what I can discern, the shop is run by a family. The lady there is so hard working and such a sweet woman. She teaches me korean and is so welcoming. She always gives me a complimentary rice cake cylinder - ALWAYS fresh and warm. She makes all of the rice cakes, banchan, and they even make their own gochujang. You can tell they truly care about their shop. You can also buy stock ingredients like kabocha squash, gochugaru, dried potato stems, and much more. There are frozen items such as dumplings in the freezer. A must see along Buford highway.

I could have eaten all eight of them myself. The cheong fun spicy chicken was beautiful but not a favorite. We debated which one of the salted egg yolk dishes to get- a preparation I had never tried- and landed on the fried shrimp and garlic noodles. It was good... we ordered two orders of roti- four pieces total- and that was a bit disappointing serving size wise for the three of us. Our server was lovely and the food came out hot and well spiced. I will return and make some additional choices from the menu.

My group had 5 people, so we had to wait a bit to get seated, but the staff was able to navigate that really well. The food was delicious! I got the Beef Chow Fun Ho, and for an appetizer, I got the roti and the curry. I would highly recommend both! The roti was flaky and soft- it paired so well with the curry. The beef chow fun was good as well, but it tastes better with this chili sauce (it could be it was seasoned just fine and my taste buds are dead from all the spice I eat). That sauce elevated the flavors even more. The prices were fairly priced for what you get, and I will say, though, if you come with a group of 5 or more, they will charge you a 20% tip automatically. I did not mind at all because the waitress we had was very attentive and checked up on us several times during our meal.

Best dishes (the reasons to come) 1) Salt and pepper squid This one was excellent. Fried well, not greasy heavy, topped with plenty of fried garlic, plus cilantro and fresh cabbage to balance the richness. Super satisfying and well executed. 2) Dried chow fun with beef Also a standout. Great texture and temperature, well seasoned, and the ingredients felt evenly distributed instead of clumped or uneven. This dish was done right. 3) Eggplant in a small pot Served in a small pot that keeps it warm for a long time, which makes a big difference. There's a lot of sauce, but you can reduce how salty it tastes by how you scoop and serve it. Comforting and flavorful. If you ordered just these three, you'd already have a great meal. Other dishes (good, not amazing) Coconut shrimp The shrimp itself was cooked well, and I appreciated the broccoli on the side to balance the heaviness. The issue was the sauce: way too much. It got soggy fast and leaned too sweet and too salty. Next time, I'd ask for the sauce on the side so you can control it. We also tried a vegetable dish and a fish dish. Both were decent, but not particularly memorable. Tea They serve tea if you order it. The chrysanthemum tea was pretty good, and I liked that it was loose leaf. Atmosphere and service We went around 2:30 to 3:00 pm, so it wasn't crowded. The vibe felt very local and family friendly. It's an older building, but clean enough and inviting. Service was great, and it seemed even smoother if you have someone in your group who can speak Cantonese. Would I return? Yes. I'd come back, especially for the salt and pepper squid, dried chow fun with beef, and the eggplant pot.

This plaza is also home to the very good Temp Doeloe (check that review) and China Hot Pot (aka Little Sheep Mongolian Hot Pot). The parking for this plaza is pretty tight but depending on your arrival time you should be able to find a space - might be a good idea to carpool just in case. I attended a meeting here of my regular Buford Highway Restaurant Clawr group - actually we had tried to come here once before but the guy was about to close, so this time we came earlier, only to find that you had to call ahead to get the whole duck (which is what we were the most interested in). This sparse, brightly painted place is more of a butcher than a restaurant - where fans can buy various animal bits like Duck head, neck, feet, wing, tounge or gizzard (similar for chicken), also cuts of beef tripe, stomach and tendon or pork ear, feet and leg. They also have several seafood items like crawfish, river snails and mussels. It's my understanding that this is a particular style of traditional Chinese cooking where the focus is on all the bits that are often discarded in the US. It's for a discerning palate and stuff you might find from street-food vendors in large Chinese cities. For Atlanta this is a way to get flavors you wouldn't otherwise find, perhaps to deal with a longing for home. Thus the clientele is made up mostly of Chinese nationalists. We opted for two very similar dishes (we weren't aware how similar until we got them) - one was a soup with clear noodles and the other basically the same thing without the broth. I thought the broth fairly decent and the bits fairly fresh if very rich. I don't mind tripe, beef stomach, blood sausage and the like but I try to only get it in occasional bites - getting a huge bowl was a bit overwhelming. I think if you're looking for something interesting this might be the place to start - I'm not too sure if I'd have this as a destination. The guy behind the counter was not very engaged, seeming to spend all his time on his phone, basically oblivious to us - I don't think we fit into his typical demographic.
