Not one single part of my delivery order was right and the food tasted terrible! First off, delivery was 45 minutes later than expected, the food was cold and the order was not right. I ordered the lunch set Nabeyaki Udon, which you get an option of miso soup or salad - I wrote down salad; did not get the salad. The udon noodles were overcooked and soggy, the broth was SUPER salty for an udon broth which should be simple, the shrimp included seemed to be cut into thirds and heavily battered to make it seem bigger (more than half of it was batter) and there was a singed hair on my gyoza, which also was overly salty. I only took a few bites and threw everything out and am now eating an apple that my office provides lol - HANGRY! Will not order from them again. read more

Delicious sushi! After researching several sushi restaurants online, I decided to try PacRim. Located on East 49th street, it's very convenient to the United Nations and practically around the corner from Japan Society. Also, there's another Japanese restaurant located on the same block. Whereas the neighboring restaurants have large open windows with customers in full view of the street, PacRim has a recessed private intimate interior seating area. It also offers a 40$ lunch omakase (as of June 2023) as well as other smaller lunch specials (see photo). I expected high quality & small portions. I was pleasantly surprised by the high quality and good portion size. The spicy Yellowtail handroll is one of the best I've had in NYC. The service was excellent too. The sushi nori wasn't super crispy but still delicious. Plan to return for more! read more

Husband found this place on Yelp since I've been hankering for sushi since I gave birth. Really did not disappoint and it's a super solid place - I ordered the lunch Omakase priced at $40. I did not regret - it was the right amount of food and great way to start eating sushi again. The roll wasn't too rich for me and I enjoyed the sashimi. Today, since I was in the area, I decided to try Pac Rim for lunch. It is a lovely, large, modernly decorated restaurant with a large sushi bar with comfortable seats. The waitresses were friendly and attentive. That is where any positive comments on this restaurant ends. The food was awful. I ordered miso soup and the sashimi lunch, which I almost always order when trying a new restaurant. If the sashimi is good, the rest of the food is usually good and vice versa. During the time I was there, there was 1 other person at the sushi bar, a couple at a booth and a person at a table. This is a prime NYC location, but there is a reason for its emptiness. Others have probably also discovered to steer clear. The miso soup was terrible. It tasted like dish water. I like thinly sliced sashimi, but this was ridiculous (way too thin). There were 8 small pieces of tuna, salmon, yellowtail, and another white fish. The white fish didn't seem fresh, but the other pieces were okay. The presentation was also terrible. The white fish came with some sprouts that had seen their better life (didn't eat). The mint, which is usually delicious, was tough to chew (left most of that). The radish was the only veg that was okay. There was also 4 funny tasting cubes of rice, which weren't very good. In fact, the entire plate of food seemed to have some strange tasting marinade all over the food. There were 2 sushi chefs who didn't seem too interested in what they were doing. I also found it strange that they had a large screen TV over the sushi bar, unusual for a Japanese restaurant. The price is reasonable for the sashimi ($17), but not even worth that. I left still hungry. I would rather pay more and have better quality and more fish to eat. I guess it is apparent I shall never return to this place again. It is pretty much one of the worst sushi restaurants that I have tried in NYC. read more

Not only is this restaurant lovely to dine in but the food is delicious. We've been there twice - for lunch and dinner. Their wonton soup, normally just a bland starter, is the best I've had. For dinner my husband got the sashimi salad & the Pork Chashu Miso Ramen & was very pleased with both. I got the Yang Chow Fried Rice. The food at this restaurant is delicious to say the least. The first trip to Pac Rim I ordered General Tso's Chicken not spicy. It came with white rice but the waiter said I could get brown rice instead at no extra charge. Also ordered Wonton Soup. The soup was good, the chicken was very good. The nicest part of eating here was the workers. The workers were so calm, pleasant, and very polite. Eating here was a very nice experience.
