I used to pass by this location a lot from my previous employer location but never actually went. What a mistake that may have been... but sometimes all you really need to do is get your foot in the door to know. This is a woody looking steakhouse with decent seafood options and "minor" Italian undertones. I usually sit in the bar area but the dining area has nice looking environments. A full bar will keep all alcoholics happy, with signature cocktails, and a handful of beer options. That actually remains my only SERIOUS complaint here is that they usually only run 4 tap handles- would like more crafty beer options. The bar tenders here are true professionals of the craft and season veterans whether you get accompanied by Denise, Glen, Joey or Ryan. They've been in the industry for awhile and know how to make a drink. Wait service and management here is stellar and active. Across the board you will get someone who is attentive and knows how to handle volume. Managers here will frequently check in and make sure everything is up to par. Okay, so what's going on with food? From appetizers, to salads, to main courses I have NEVER had something at this place that I thought was sub-par. I can't speak to dessert because I never make it that far but I'd be confident in the choices. Appetizers for me, baked clams - 3 huge clams, decent breading and taste, lobster bisque soup - it actually has more then 2 nibbles of lobster in it, or steak crostini's - I was told this is a pace's trade mark (it's very good if you're into rare / red). Steaks here get cooked to order and I know this will gauge to person-to-person but they usually get it "right" for me. I'm a medium guy where I want some rawness but not bloody slops and no matter what steak we receive whether it is the filet mignon, porterhouse, or NY Shell. I actually think the "cheap" steak is one of the best ones because I prefer the cut of NY Strip and the marinate is very delicious. The side that your heart wants but not your gut is the Jackson's Mac and cheese-- honestly feels like they use an entire stick of butter and douse it in cheese, tasty. Want to spice it up? Safe here to go surf and turf whether its shrimp belvedere or lobster tail. Both are nice treats. COVID times so, wait staff are wearing masks, they aren't chin straps. Management is active to making sure customers aren't roaming around without masks - I have even seen them provide them for patrons that somehow have "forgot", Hand sanitizer is plentiful available for customers and workers. Tables are spaced, capacity is reduced, they got the plexiglass dividers up at the bar seating which I guess it's not to argue with the restaurant how effective they are.. but our beloved governor. One other thing to note is this is a valet parking ONLY situation. I trust these guys to handle and yes there is a female valet but nothing bad has happened to my car. The parking lot can be pretty tight quarters so this is probably a pro for most scenarios but if you're someone whose scared about your clutch and manual transmission then there's no other option but to roll the dice here. I know this place takes on a lot of Insignia refugees and it definitely can stand toe to toe based on food delivery at a bit of a cheaper price. You're definitely not getting out of here for party of 2 with alcohol under 180 but I feel satisfied when it's all said and done. Nice bar area and good food. I pop in for lunch occasionally and have some wine and apps @ the bar. I would definitely recommend the baked clams they are huge and delicious. Also the warm spinach salad with blackened shrimp and bacon vinaigrette is excellent as well. Pair those 2 items with the rack of lamb and a couple glasses of vino and you have the perfect lunch to split with someone. Obviously you can't go wrong with the steak its delicious. Decent, at best. My partner and I dined there on our date night because a friend of ours is now working there, Taylor (love him). Unfortunately, he wasn't working that evening, but he set us a with an overall nice and very professional waitress, Alex. The steakhouse itself is very-traditional and overall outdated. If you're looking for an up to date steakhouse that is modernized; this is certainly not, the one. The environment energy and overall vibe was was unpleasant. Clientele wise, it was geared more towards families and/or an older outdated crowd. Stereotypical Long Islanders and I'm not referring to the pleasant to be around kind. For example, the bar area gave off a dive-bar aesthetic and trashy 'Middle America,' overall feeling (energy/vibe wise). It isn't a large restaurant and so it was rather loud; of which, I don't mind at all, but preferably when around more modernized clientele who aren't outdated and up with the current times. Our food was good, not great, but not bad either. Definitely, not good enough to go back for; appetizers were decent, entrees were good and dessert was lovely. Supposedly, we came on the "Right night," cocktail wise because the bartender working allegedly was known for their espresso martini's, but they were average, at best. The manager wasn't friendly upon arrival, but did make his way around to our table (as a manager typically should) to check-in and ensure our experience was enjoyable. The hostesses were both welcoming and friendly, the busboy's were attentive and although the valet workers were friendly; it was a nightmare getting my car back from valet, but I blame that on their size parking lot and not the valets themselves. Overall, I won't ever be returning, but if you're looking for any of the above; then it's worth a try for locals, but certainly not worthy of traveling for anyone outside the immediate area. read more

Compared to Bryant and Cooper's in Roslyn where I normally go it is easily as good if not better and the service is impeccable. The price, remarkably, better than the other place. Disappointing doesn't even come close enough to the experience we had tonight. Had reservations, not an issue since we had gotten there before prime time. Appetizers - very good. Oysters Rockefeller and the crab cake. Bread and complimentary salad - good Our waiter -- mumbled through everything, had to ask him to repeat himself. When I asked what soda beverages he had in tap he rattled off the beer selection. This happened again after the main course when he asked if we wanted dessert and we said we had WEDDING cake at home to which he replied "oh, happy birthday"! Now, the disastrous main meal. 12oz filet and the double cut shell steak. I understand the idea of charbroiling steak but it is a sin that these ideally beautiful cuts of meat would be prepared this way. They were NOT charbroiled, they were BURNT. Burnt and flavorless (other than the flaking off ash taste) The side dishes too were apparently put under the broiler, everything other than the appetizers, were disgustingly overcooked! No one ever came by to ask us how the food was, not even the 100 times they came by to fill our water after each sip we took. My husband didn't even make a dent in his shell steak and no one questioned why when they cleared our plate. We chose Paces over Insignia because we had heard iffy things about their service. Paces waiters might have been diligent about refilling our water but the food was inedible. We'll never go back nor recommend this place to anyone. Was very unimpressed by most of the evening...to start, upon arrival we were led to a booth (my fiancee is 6'5") and I knew he wouldn't be comfortable. I noticed they were clearing the table right in front of us so I asked them to move us there (I would've asked to move regardless, but how can you expect someone of that stature to comfortably sit for at least 2 hours?) We sat for a bit deciding what to have and decided to order the seafood platter app, the porterhouse for 2 med rare, and a side of broccoli tossed in garlic and oil. The seafood platter was okay...chunks of blue claw crab meat, a few large shrimp, baked clams (which were actually pretty salty)...nothing truly memorable. We also got a green salad w dinner and it was your typical side salad. I got bleu cheese dressing and either there's is wayyyy different than the normal bleu cheese I've had anywhere or they gave me the wrong dressing. Finally our entree comes out...and the porterhouse is overcooked to medium...pushing med well...seriously? We have a couple bites and you can tell I'm not happy...the server came to check and I told him truthfully but I didn't want to cause a scene, but the manager was walking by and he checked over and took it back, sent me a glass of wine, and sent out a new steak. After dinner, we ordered creme brulee which I really liked (probably the best part of the meal in my opinion) and my fiancee asked the waiter if he read the notes regarding our reservation...he laughed and said he never does (which I found completely unprofessional)...it was the week of my birthday and my fiancee wanted them to sing( I didn't know)...but he already dropped dessert, so now here comes the staff w a scoop of ice cream and a song... So while mistakes were made and fixed, and I understand mistakes happen, it just seemed like a 3 star night. From the mediocre app, to the overcooked steak, to the waiter's "sense of humor". I used to work at Pace's Steakhouse when I was younger. I used to know the head chef and they really have steak down to a science. I've seen the meat locker. They use prime steaks like most houses and age them between 28 and 30 days. The porterhouse for one can be marinated and seasoned. Porterhouse for two is only served plain. Their steak is superb but it's not cheap. It's about fifty five for the porterhouse for 1 and 90 for two. It isn't the most expensive either. I've seen it as expensive as 110 for two. Place was always a little cramped though. The service was perfect and nobody complained on how they were cooked. Great steakhouse. read more

My sister, brother in law and I went there for my brother in laws birthday having been given 4x $50 gift cards his daughter had purchased for them for their recent anniversary. Food was very good and as pricey as it was we were all glad to have the gift cards. I paid the tip in cash. Low and behold we find out when we go to pay the bill that they will only allow up to $100 in gift cards per visit. I have never heard of such a thing. It costs more than that for a dinner for two. It's not a Groupon it's gift cards bought with real money so it should all have been accepted as cash. Now we have $100 left and don't ever want to go back. Beware! read more

I was a frequent patron of Pace's in Port Jefferson before they closed and last night was our first and last trip to this location. I had a table of 5 but because we didn't order a bottle of wine I guess our waiter couldn't be bothered. We received little to no attention and the service was horrible. The mozzarella appetizer was fine, nothing too special. My boyfriend and I split the porterhouse steak for two. By no means a cheap dish. It was badly charred on the outside and came to the table Medium rare not medium well as asked with a lot of fat on the meat. I typically order a filet so I know it will be different but it was not appetizing. The Mac and cheese was very good. It was about the only food I enjoyed. I won't be coming here again and it's a shame. We saw our waiter maybe 4 times the whole night, overall the bar was set very high by the Port Jeff location. We celebrated our anniversary last night at Pace's. It was the first time we had eaten there and it won't be the last! We chose it because we had driven by several times and it just looks inviting and cozy. The valet took care of our car as soon as we arrived and the hostess was ready to seat us as soon as we walked in. Justin and Kaylee were our severs and they were amazing. The entire staff is very attentive and managers walking around in plain sight lending a hand to their servers. We met Matt who was very kind and obviously very proud of this restaurant. Steak was perfectly aged and so flavorful, cooked exactly to order. The Jacks macaroni and cheese was yummy and my husband enjoyed the Kobe beef meatball appetizer as well. Ourr reservation was confirmed, we were shown to a comfortable table on arrival, the service was perfect from a very knowledgeable staff, and the food, especially the rib steak on the bone, prepared as ordered, was really first rate. Went last night for dinner and was only able to get reservations in the lounge area which seemed fine at the time but we were seated between the emergency exit and the bar. It wasn't a issue until the bar started filling up and people were standing over our table. Maybe I'm too courteous and won't stand at your table while you dine unless I'm buying you a drink. With that being said the service was attentive as long as the waiter could get through the crowd. We ordered the Porterhouse for two which was cooked perfectly and aged for twenty eight days. I like a little more funk on my steak and felt like it could of been aged a little longer.Sides were mushrooms and mashed potatoes. They were good and the house Cabernet was on par with more expensive wines. My biggest complaint of the night was the ladies room. Garbage overflowing with paper towels and toilet paper all over the floor. I immediately informed the manger and he said he would take care of it. The twin lobster tails were incredible and we loved the creamed spinach & sauteed mushrooms & loaded potatoes. Since the potatoes were so large, we cut one in half to share it and had the other half two days later with the leftover spinach & mushrooms for our steak dinner at home. We sat in the lounge bar area. It was wonderfully warm & cozy. Our waiter was quick to greet us and tell us about their daily specials. Since it was our first time dinning there, he explained their three special finishes to their steaks like blackened, au poive sauce or blue cheese crumble with onions. All sounded delicious but I was craving their Double Center cut pork chop. My boyfriend ordered their roasted chicken. My pork chop was perfectly cooked. The outside was crisp and charred while the inside was juicy and delicious. It was more meat that one person could eat. My boyfriend was away unable to finished his chicken because their serving size was quite generous for a steak house. We shared garlic mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach. Unless something catastrophic happened I'll always have a hard time giving Paces a bad review since the food is always so consistent and good. I've been patronizing Pace's for business and social events for the past 15 year and it's always been just about the same experience. Your server may change or your table may be different but you can pretty much guarantee the food will be good and that's what brings people back time and time again. One annoyance I experienced this past Friday night was a 30 minute with a 730pm reservation. Not a huge deal since it was only two of us but I'm a punctual person and expect the same courtesy from restaurants when a reservation is made. read more

Very nice steakhouse! Was looking for a last minute nice restaurant for an Xmas eve dinner for me and the boyfriend. Good service, maybe too many servers! I think like 5 people were responsible for the two of us. We got the seafood app for two which was delicious, I got the short rib and he got the rib eye with a tail on the side. Everything was delicious, though he said the lobster tail was a bit overdone. Desserts were meh, I opted for the chocolate lava cake which was good, though a better selection (they had a lot, just nothing...exciting) would be a great addition. Service was quick and attentive. Listen, Pace's is a very good old school style steak house out in Long Island. I'm not going to put it up on a pedestal with Keen's or Wolfgang's in NYC, but for what it is, and for what you get, it is certainly a viable alternative. On this particular visit, we had a reservation at 7:30pm on a Saturday night. When we arrived, we were told they were a little backed up and would seat us as soon as possible. The place was loaded with people. Thankfully, we found a spot at the bar and had a few drinks before dinner. By no means were my wife and I in a rush, so this was fine. We got seated around 8pm, which was a little later than I usually like to eat, but hey, it's a night out, I'm in no rush. The service was great. We were assisted by two young men. One of them took our drink orders and the other did a fantastic job of rattling off the specials and the different ways we could have our meals prepared. From a service perspective, I think the level of attentiveness was very hands off, which I appreciate. They came around initially for drink orders & specials, came by after the appetizers came to ensure they were ok, and then also came by after the meals were delivered to check & see if we needed anything else. That's it. I like that. I don't need you hovering over me. If I need to flag you down, I will. The food. We ordered stuffed mushrooms and a salad as our appetizer. As far as stuffed mushrooms go, these were very good, and they were stuffed with seafood. Salad was a salad, nothing special, but certainly tasty. Our dinner consisted of bone in ribeyes, which were cooked to our liking. We also got the lobster mac and cheese which as out of this world. One complaint I had about the steaks is that I've cooked ribeye steaks where I'm able to burn off a lot of the fat. I was a little disappointed that I had to cut a lot of fat away from their steak, but still, there was more than enough good meat on it and you can't beat the flavor of a bone-in ribeye! Overall, the experience was a good one. I love the old-school feel and ambiance of this place. One more minor annoyance is the need to valet park our car. There's no other option not to. It was funny that when I came out and gave my ticket to the valet, my car was literally 10 feet away from the entrance to the restaurant. I could easier just walked to it and drove away, but no, the valet had to get in it, and move it the 10 feet over to my wife and I. All in all, it was a great evening and I'd certainly be back. read more
