I thought they were joking quick. That's how quick. It was the easiest and most affordable smog check I've ever had.

Everyone dreads the news that they have to get their car a smog at a test only station and I was no different. Two years ago when I last had to have it I spent over $100 for a simple test. This time I decided to call around to find the best deal. I had a coupon for %50 off at a Walnut Creek smog shop but when I called them to find out the final price they quoted me at over $70 once out the door. $109 for smog - %50 = 55... but they tack on $15 for EVAP tests for cars older then 1995 (mine's a '94) not to mention the $10 they charge to send your certification to the DMV. It seemed really dishonest to me. The thing that impressed me the most about the owner of Pacheco Smog was how honest he was. He told me right up front what his prices were and even without a coupon it's cheaper than the Walnut Creek smog's prices. He also gave me a $10 coupon for their grand opening. In the end he was super nice to talk to and I got a great deal. $60 out the door! From now on anytime I return I get the $10 returning customer discount. The owner cares and that's so important! Found this on Yelp and, per the overall stellar reviews, thought I'd give them a try for my older ('78) Chevy 4x4. I was nervous trying someone new as I've gotten a spectrum of bad diagnosis or inspection comments when less knowledgeable (or trying to profit from repairs) shops performed the work. Well the owner took the time to explain his process, the state's requirements for older vehicles, and answered my questions. Being mechanically minded I knew he was giving me a straight story. He performed the work and found an issue with the timing marks slipping on the harmonic balancer. He couldn't pass based on not being able to verify the timing. He explained the issue and recommended a repair shop. I know how to fix that issue so did the work myself and brought it back a few weeks later. He inspected and the truck passed the whole test just fine. Even though I had a legitimate issue initially, I appreciated the honesty and time he took to explain. I went back a week later to get my (much easier to smog) '98 Accord done. I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. Again, great service. I'll be back! read more

Such a friendly place! Truly helps when one is getting that annoying notice from DMV every two years. The owner's young son was there, learning all about Customer Service. Great! My Tacoma truck was done extremely fast and efficiently. Staff explained all the paperwork and electronic transmit of my test to DMV. Waiting room had magazines, TV, coffee - what else could one want! Though I'll soon be moving about 20 miles away, I will certainly bring my other cars here to be tested. I'd looked to get my wife's SUV smogged using one of those deep discount coupons, but I was obviously not alone and faced a long wait to save a few bucks. Great place for smog check. High volume store that only does dmog. So they want to get your car in and out asap. Waited 30 minutes start to finish. I don't normally write reviews, but these guys are amazing! I got there right when they opened with my three boys, just wanting to see how long it might take. After being told 15 minutes, I decided to do it since I was next in line anyways. I have three boys all under 6, so you can imagine how stressful that can be with keeping them occupied. Not only did the guys a Pacheco Smog get it done in 9 minutes, but they were super helpful, parking my car close to their office door to get the boys back in safely without crossing the parking lot.
