I renewed my vehicle registration incompletely and still needed to pass the smog inspection before receiving my registration card and sticker from DMV. This smog station, Pacheco Smog, took care of my 2005 Toyota Corolla in a professional and timely manner. I showed up a few minutes before opening hours, and upon arrival their doors were surprisingly already opened. I wasn't sure if others were ahead of me, or if I had to wait because opening hours were listed as 9 AM. But it was a very lucky morning because I didn't have to wait and they were ready to take me once I stepped through their doors. Tone (pronounced as Tony) greeted me and serviced my car in under 10 minutes. I was the first one in, and then out by actual opening business hours. In my case the early bird gets the worm! Was already willing to give this place a 5 star review just based on the great customer service I received on the phone! Took my Jeep in to get it smoged this morning and was greeted by a smiling and helpful Hirmand, who is the owner. He was awesome, honest, quick and efficient. While I was waiting for my car I also had a man helping me to price a part that Hirmand recommend I fix after I had mentioned I had a squeaky belt. Neither of them were obligated to do this for me but I can tell this is the type of business that will go above and beyond for their customers. After my car passed smog I received a $10 discount for mentioning I had found them on Yelp. And also a $10 discount coupon for a future visit. Not only did I have an amazingly pleasant experience here the owner and I got to talking about how his wife is a hair dresser which is my planned profession and I was pleased to receive a bussiness card so that I can get in touch with her for what sounds like a fantastic haircut! Upon buying a new car it is the sellers responsibility to smog the car. When you have to drive an hour one way to a smog shop which is the sellers "friend" it can raise a few red flags. I called asking of the shop location hours etc as well as questioned the validity of the smog because it is an older car and we all know how people are these days especially if it is a "friend" doing the smog. I was returned with a very rude and disrespectful response from whom I'd assume to be the owner who then said he would decline the smog and we needed to take it somewhere else and he wanted nothing to do with the car. Suspicious to say that least... We drove it down the street to bay smog who got the car in right away and it passed. If the whole reason for doing the smog here was to save money on a friend doing it, it was a waste of time as I only spent 10 dollars more at bay smog and we had no prior friendships, complete strangers. The car passed, but if there was a doubt it wouldn't what's to say he wouldn't "look the other way on a visual test" So yes I do question your validity and your integrity sir as you asked me on the phone, and in today's world you are the prime example why I do. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. There may be good reviews here, but sheep in society are easily duped and something tells me there are a lot of fake smiles here just waiting for your money. Response to comment left: As I said, something seemed off here and I did not ask if you would do an illegal smog I asked if the smog being done on the car was legitimate because of a friend having a friend smog a car at my request when it was not known if it would pass. I stated I had no problem with it and to go fourth if your actions were true. You still denied which made me not want the car at first thinking there was something wrong emission wise. You never once mentioned you had performed a pre smog test. If you only like the good reviews people write then you should think before you act as my experience with you as a law abiding vehicle owner asking what was going on with a vehicle I was looking to purchase was poor. I have no connection with you or the seller and I was making sure what was being done was being done correctly watching out for myself. My one star stands and if it could go lower I would. I'm very surprised that I would be writing a review for a smog shop but I have to say that when I find a place that gives me the kind of friendly service that I thought was lost to a by gone era, then I need to say something. I've been helping my overwhelmed hubby out by doing errands and odds and ends for him. I certainly was not excited for one of those errands to be the smogging of his work van. I needed to have my 1997 Astro van smogged. Checked the web and Yelp, made a couple of phone calls and decided to check Pacheco Smog. I was very impressed from the time I made the phone call. No B.S., the right quote, no extra charge for removing the engine inside cover (another shop wanted $30!! I walked in the shop around 2 pm and a short while later I was told that the van failed the pressure test, otherwise it was fine. I was told to go to Monument Auto Parts, to buy a new cap. So I did, and 15 minutes later I had my van smogged, the certificate sent to DMV and $10 off my bill as I found a coupon on-line. What a gem of a shop!!! The dreaded DMV registration renewal notice came in the mail a few weeks ago and with it the even more inconvenient request for smog certification. I'm a huge procrastinator so I left it to the last minute. No problem, I visited Pacheco Smog and was in and out in half an hour without an appointment. Actually, the lack of an appointment was a moot point because they don't schedule them--but, I digress. PS is probably also the most inexpensive Test Only station in the 94523--just make sure to mention finding them on Yelp for a discount. Getting a smog check is never a pleasant experience, but speediness and a good value alleviates some of the pain. read more

I took my Hoopty to Pacheco Smog. Well it did not pass but the service was great. I was given a print-out that said, "Failed" that I can show the State and retire my Hoopty. All my questions were answered and now I know how to retire my vehicle. Pacheco was honest and courteous. While I was waiting for my test, I overheard other customers being helped.
