They then told me I could have replaced with crab stick. How do you know they put crab salad in California roll if not listed on menu. Totally gross and will not return. Sushi was great. I have been here three times and was satisfied each time. The fish on the nigiri tastes fresh. I tried the special of the tuna belly and it was out of this world. My parents love there rice dishes (Mongolian chicken, sesame chicken, etc). Very very happy with the sushi. A sushi meal will set you back about $18 but it's totally worth it. Truly enjoyed it. I have been going to this restaurant since it opened and have always had good food and service. Several of the local restaurants have had a decline in service, food quality or choice since COVID. This restaurant has not cut any corners and is by far the best sushi I have had in JAX or St Augustine. We were excited to try this spot out because there was not any sushi spots near Nocatee. We were extremely happy with the food and service. The owner even came out and greeted us before we left and gave us a sample of his favorite saki. We ordered a couple bottles of another one while dining and were looking to get one to go. This is our favorite Asian restaurant in the area. We have been to many and will probably continue to try new places as we learn about them. But this place is really hard to beat. First up...the inside and service: on that note, the atmosphere is nice. It's not a big place, nor small. There is a bar you can sit at or you can be seated at one of the many tables. The service is one of the things I love about this place and it's top notch. Those words "top notch" do not fall out of my mouth to my fingers when reviewing many places. They have a knack for coming to your table to inquire if you need something at just the right time without overkill or disappearing. You never wait long for your food or drinks either. If you want to have a drink and/or appetizer first, I suggest you hold off on ordering your main meal since it comes out quickly. They literally tend to all your needs and make your experience there as pleasant as possible right down to pouring the extra beer from the bottle into your glass to make it easier on you and have a way of doing it without you really noticing. If anything is empty, it won't be on your table long...they sort of come in stealth mode to capture the empties. Oh...you will definitely have a team of folks attending to your needs too...not just one person. And you'll never have to look around to figure out where your waitress went. They are all super friendly and always have a smile on their face(s). They seem very happy and pleased you are there and everyone makes you feel welcome. Even when it comes to taking home a box...they completely take care of it for you...no juggling plates, no trying to find table space or making a mess...they just come to take care of it and you magically end up with a bag. You can tell from my pictures that my guys have a habit of getting the same things. But with that said...you can also tell from the pictures that it's spot on every time. Whatever dish you love, you can guarantee it will be and taste the same next time...every time. I always like to try something new and everything I have tried is delicious. I have not had a bad meal here, nor anything I wouldn't order again. Try anything...seriously...you won't be disappointed. And the best part is, the portions are huge. You either need to make sure you're real hungry when you go or just plan on taking it home. That said, we look forward to the leftovers. It all taste just as good reheated as what it did the first time. Simply put...this restaurant is the full package: outstanding customer service, great food, awesome menu and decent prices. Did you guys know that they banned decent quality fish in Duval County? Wait...they didn't? That's strange, someone should tell they Japanese restaurants in Jax because seemingly they are unaware. Seriously, this place is 40 mins away from where so live and now anytime I want sushi bad enough...I have to make that trip. So worth it though. Service was superior, felt welcomed and expected. Decor is nice, though in true introvert fashion you will rarely catch me in a dine in situation. Fish quality satisfactory, at last. After trying so many places in Jax and eating mushy scallops and fishy tuna trying to find some reprieve...at last..it is revealed...I truly have to drive out of Jacksonville to get decent fish. I stopped at Pacific Asian Bistro recently while running errands nearby. It was lunch time and the parking lot was pretty packed but they sat me right away. I had one of their lunch specials which included a choice of two sushi rolls (I went with tuna and avocado and salmon and cucumber) and soup or salad (I went with the miso soup). The service was great, my drink and food came out quickly and empty plates were taken away quickly as well. The sushi was fine. Nothing wrong with it but nothing to write home about either. If I'm in the area I would stop in again and maybe try something other than sushi (the table next to me had some kind of shrimp dish that looked delicious). read more

Adding an update to my last review! We moved away and recently visited St. Augustine to see family. Of course, we had to get some sushi! I don't know what changed but the rolls were all rolled PERFECTLY. I think it depends on who is rolling that night, but our experience on October 12th was out of this world. We ordered spicy yellowtail, sweet potato, and salmon avocado. The spicy yellowtail is the most delicious I've ever had. Perfect flavor! The sweet potato was cooked perfectly, soft in the middle and crunchy on the outside. The salmon was fresh and delicious as well. YUM! I loved every aspect of our meal.....Wife and I were talking about this being the new "regular" Asian spot..... Then it happened. I went to the restroom to wash my hands (small restroom, toilet, urinal, and sink, all in one room) - door was unlocked, so I walked in....Cook was standing at the urinal...appeared to be wrapping up (didn't look that close) goes to open the door...I said, "Hey man, wash your hands"....makes direct eye contact with me, walks out.......I wash hands, walk past little curtain, see the non-washer handling plates....tell him again, "Hey man, wash your hands" at which point our waiter comes up, I told him what happened, walked out.... This place was a random find. My son had baseball practice tonight next door- so we stopped in. This was by far the best sushi I have had. Ever. I've had excellent sushi in LA and Chicago, but this was just phenomenal. Light on the rice, the raw fish was cool but not cold, it was SO FRESH. The Mexican roll was to die for. This place is by far superior to any other sushi options available in Saint Augustine, and I'd venture to say Jax as well. Besides the INCREDIBLE sushi, they also offer Japanese, Chinese, and Thai dishes. Chef Mas is very detail oriented, he and his staff work hard and it is evident in the lovely atmosphere and food they provide. Excellent quality, beautiful presentation, and taste to match. So, this was a highly disappointing meal for me. I got two rolls for takeout the "Fire Starter" and the "Green River" roll. Each was disastrous in its own right and while both rolls were quite different, the problem was the same for each - way, I mean WAY, too much sauce. First, the fire starter is basically a Tuna Roll with avocado, I ordered this as takeout and the presentation had the roll in a container that was literally filled one quarter of the way in sauce. The roll itself was drenched in a sweet soy-sauce type deal they call spicy garlic sauce. Like imagine you order a salad but they replace 25% of the lettuce with a pool of dressing - and the rest of the salad is soaked as well. That's what I got. Next, for the Green River roll, The presentation was certainly much better with six large pieces of sushi, each with it's own portion of "Yum Yum" sauce. As you might expect, each slice of roll was completely enveloped in the rich mayonnaise based white sauce making all other flavors almost completely indistinguishable. In both cases, it's hard to tell how good the fish was because there was so much sauce. I will get specialty rolls periodically for other sushi spots near my house, and I love the different sauces - however they are usually drizzled on or provided as a garnish almost on the side. This was a full frontal assault of sauces that just completely over powered the whole meal. I gave two stars because given that the sauce issue was fixed, this could have been a three star experience. Safe to say I will avoid in the future. read more

The quality of the fish used in the rolls is the best part of the sushi here. No overly fishy taste, no moments when you think "dang, I need more soy on this asap".
