Here are a few things that set them apart from other contractors I interviewed: 1) responsive but not pushy. Some stone fabricators in San diego are incredibly pushy. 2) professional- in communication and in the way they do their operations. 3) high tech machinery and a clean cutting room. They let me see the cut template before cutting. 4) high attention to detail. 5) a proper itemized contract. Some contractors would just send me a text message with rates. That's not the way I want to do business, especially when thousands of dollars are being exchanged. The way they did quotes and contracts is what made me pull the trigger. We truly appreciate the follow-through and the effort to make it right. While the process to get here was frustrating at times, the end result is what we had hoped for from the start. Thank you to the team for addressing our concerns. UPDATE/REPLY TO OWNER: After I posted this review, the owner replied and said that seam variation is normal and that they always try to make seams as minimal and consistent as possible. That all sounds reasonable -- but here's what the reply leaves out. The seam we're concerned about has visible glue residue and looks just like the others did, which they had already cleaned up successfully during the same install. The only difference? By the time we brought this one up, we'd already paid in full. We weren't asking for perfection -- just for this last seam to be finished to the same standard. Instead, we were told "nothing can be done," and no one even offered to come take a look. Honestly, it turned what had been a great experience into a really frustrating one. Most of the work looks good, but the way things were handled after the fact left us feeling like we weren't valued once the payment cleared. ORIGINAL REVIEW: We hired this company because of their excellent reviews, competitive pricing, and ability to work within our timeline -- and overall, we're somewhat happy with how the countertops turned out. When we met Steven, we emphasized how important it was to us that the seams be as minimal as possible. When we reviewed the templates, we raised concerns about one seam being placed in a very prominent location. We were told it had to go there, but that every effort would be made to minimize its appearance. During installation, the team was friendly and professional. On the first day, they noticed that the quartz pieces had some bowing issues (apparently, this can happen if the slabs are stored outside, which these were). The owner called to explain that they needed to correct the bowing to ensure the seams would be less noticeable. This adjustment delayed their initial timeline of 7 days after templating. The team added braces to the countertops and returned a few days later. There were additional delays getting the waterfall edges and windowsill installed, but once everything was in place, we were generally satisfied with the overall look. However, about a week later, we noticed one seam that stood out from the others -- visibly rougher and less refined. We contacted the owner and were told this kind of thing happens, that nothing could be done, and that even worse seams are displayed in their showroom. That response left us disappointed. Given how good the other seams looked, we were surprised at the lack of effort or interest in finding a resolution. If you hire Rock-It, we recommend staying engaged through the final details of the install. Be sure you're 100% satisfied before signing off and paying in full. We hope the company will take this kind of feedback to heart and continue to prioritize finish quality and post-install support.

After about 2 to 3 weeks, he was ready to bring her back and we were extremely flabbergasted at how gorgeous she had turned out. When you have a piece of furniture so long and it looks so worn, it's hard to imagine what it could look like beautified. I am attaching before and after pics to show what wonderful work they did, which included completely stripping her, which Stan said was VERY labor-intensive. She was covered in old varnish and old polish. I digress. Here are the pics, and a very high recommendation for AAA.

Repeat customer here! After removing the carpet on my stair landing, I knew I wanted to match the Saltillo tile that is throughout the rest of the house. Miguel did an excellent job of advising on the materials needed, and completed the job in one day. I had someone else give me a quote and said they wouldn't put the decorative tiles on the trim (likely because it was too much work), but Miguel executed it perfectly. These guys did a terrible job. You name it, it went wrong. Damage to other parts of my home while they were working. Cash went missing. They were all over the place with the schedule, sometimes showing up when not planned and then not showing up when they were supposed to. The amount of money they quoted was substantially different than the money they ended up wanting. Some of the materials weren't right. Overall it was a huge nightmare working with this company. read more

Unlike other tile people I contacted, Miguel was also willing to go above and beyond to install the drywall too (I'd much rather have a tile guy do drywall than a drywall guy do tile!). Miguel was very easy to work with. He knew what needed to be done and only asked questions when we needed to make design decisions. He was true to his quote for timeline and pricing. We were interested in refreshing our…read morefireplace in our modern home and had always dreamed of having a black marble fireplace instead of just white drywall. I Yelped and found Del Mar Tile and Stone and checked out photos and crossreferenced everything. He had stellar reviews everywhere. John the owner came out within a day or two (on a Sunday!) to look at the project and gave me a quote the next day. The project involved tiling on the fireplace surround and also into a cutout for our TV and the vent for the fireplace above. The quote was fair for the amount of work involved and I thought, hey if he's already there maybe get him to re-do tile in one of our bathrooms (a much smaller project)? I texted him a video and measurements of the space prior to him working on the space and he was able to quote the bathroom without coming back! Super cool. The quality of work is amazing. I am a detail-oriented, visual person and with the beautiful black marble with white veining that we chose (with a fluted pattern!) I wanted to be particular with what tiles we should use and which we should not. He was more than accommodating and we have a beautiful, beautiful fireplace now and a gorgeous bathroom. Not everybody could do this job. It was technical as a fireplace surround. The tile contractor had to use the right mortar and he had to level it out just right. As we homeowners know, rarely is your house completely true and flat and square everywhere and the tile had to be done to accommodate all of the imperfections in our visually perfect house. The corners and leveling had to be perfect. He had to carve into drywall to make the corner of the fireplace square. It was crazy and it would have taken me decades of experience to do this myself (enter John). The cutouts for the fireplace and the TV surround had to be perfect. The bathroom turned out flawless as well. John is an awesome person and was so kind and courteous to our pets (he told my dog Thatcher she was beautiful) and was respectful of other contractors we were having at the house at the same time. His son Hunter and his other employee Carlos who worked with him were conscientious, clean, and all three were just all around good people. Please see photos! They do not do the fireplace justice!

The unevenness wasn't visible to the eye but really noticeable by catching one's shoe or toes on the raised edges. They also worked with me to get my other bath white mosaic floor back to white. The installer had left "haze" on it, then stripped the haze and discolored the white grout in areas so it didn't all match. Koszo are the best at these issues and any other for stone and grout installations. WE will be using them from now on! PS I am very picky as I am in the design business.

They have been with Amazonia for over 20 years and have extensive experience with shower and kitchen stone fabrication. They were meticulous in their attention to detail, efficient, and cleaned up completely at the end of each day. Measurements and pattern making usually takes a few hours, fabrication of the stone takes about 2 weeks, and only one day was required for installation. I recommend Amazonia Kitchen and Bath highly!
