Wow, everything we had here was amazing! My brother is a regular and loves the tuna melt and recommended anything with fresh peaches. We got the special waffles with fresh peaches and homemade whipped cream (yum)! The biscuits and gravy were satisfying and the over easy eggs and breakfast potatoes were tasty. The kids ordered chocolate milk and got tall glasses topped with lots of that delicious homemade whipped cream. I just had to snag a spoonful! Service was friendly, warm, and efficient. My friend and I stopped by this joint for breakfast several months ago... I'm still thinking about it! I grew up in the Mid Atlantic where small diners like this are common and quintessential. New Jersey being the Diner Capital of the Country, notorious for having the best diners. Pacific Diner is the closest thing I've found to one of those diners I went to back home. You can tell there is a lot of care that goes into the food and the staff feels like family- maybe not obnoxiously friendly but they had a je ne sais quoi. They felt like a warm hug. Apparently, there's another dining space but I sat at the bar which was very cramped but I had no clue ther was another space to sit. Slow service and insincere service, they get very busy especially on a weekend or holiday. Had a server who had absolutely no patience for us, she slammed things down on our table, took our order in a very rushed way, practically rolled her eyes at us when we asked for advice on specials and just read it off.. when it came to getting our bill she finally slammed it down and said "bye!" At the end of our meal another woman came out and made it better with her kind personality making time to tell us she was happy to stop by and help get our Bill. I decided to try out something new on a nice Sunday morning and let me just say that I am SO glad I tried this place out. The service was great! Our server was very attentive the whole time we were there. I asked our server what was a popular dish and she recommended the "Marinated Steak Bits", "Chicken Fajitas and Eggs" and the "John Wayne Special". I decided to try out the "John Wayne Special" coupled with biscuits and gravy and it was really good. Their portions are pretty big as well. My friend lives in Pedro and I would have never found this place. Pacific is almost at the end of San Pedro in the Pacific Ocean...I mean on Pacific. After an early morning volunteering in the area, Pacific Diner hit the breakfast spot. They have their own parking which gets really packed...you can park your motorcycle (like I parked my motorcycle) in the front by the newspaper machines. They have bar seating in the front or walk to the back for outside (heat lamp) dining or inside dining. Breakfast was awesome! Service was good...and especially the views! :) Food was served ultra fast...like the food was already ready when you ordered (not really cause they have like 10 guys working the kitchen). Just take a look when you're headed to the "shared" bathroom. If you have an option of bread...get the BISCUITS and GRAVY...it was sooooo good. The sausage gravy may be the best I've eaten! Parking lot was full, but street parking is easy to find. They were still busy, but we were seated right away. In a nutshell, this place is great. The food is excellent, and so is the service. I'd say for a diner, the prices are a teeny bit high, but not at all unreasonable. For me, the true test of a diner is how good their chicken fried steak is. Theirs passed the test with flying colors! It was one of the best I've ever had. It was tender and tasty, not greasy as they tend to be sometimes. I also like their portions. They aren't huge, which is a good thing. They are just right. You don't walk out of there feeling gross because you over ate, which so common for us USA diner aficionados. My friend had an omelette. I don't know what kind...it had some kind of enchilada sauce on it. I had a bite, and man oh man, was it ever good! You can't go wrong at Pacific Diner. Go there, enjoy. I thought I was done with the biscuits and gravy challenge but then I stumbled onto two restaurants that were almost side by side that had biscuits and gravy. So guess what? The taste test was on! Both places offered a single biscuit for under $2 which is a great value. When I ordered the one biscuit the waitress was like.... "Are you sure that's all you want ? " She was probably thinking what's this big guy going to do with 1 biscuit use if for ear muffs? lol Little did she know that the they were getting the @eatcheapwithpete challenge. Well I have to say that the chef nailed it! It was a very flavorful Biscuits and gravy. This was an average size biscuit witch great texture and the right amount of moisture. The gravy was very creamy and delicious. I am guessing the chef may have used a broth because the had a very homey and comfort food flavor. Living in Pedro you tend to go where you have the best experience for breakfast. We have so many diners and cafés where the food is good that you tend to gravitate to the ambiance more. I like the food at pacific diner. Never had any issues with their friendly staff. Parking lot is small but a lot easier to park than most. Had a terrible experience here personally. This feels like a go to for locals and the owners/management seem to take care of the people they know (which is great if you come regularly). I came here Sunday morning and the experience started off great as I was seated immediately. Things quickly went downhill after that. Our waitress was horrible! She took our drink orders and we asked for a couple more minutes for food. Our waitress never came back and we ended up having to call her back ourselves before she took our order. After she took our order there were at least 5 tables that were seated, served and had almost completed their meals before we even got our food. After about 45 (generous assumption, close to 50) minutes we physically got up and had to find our waitress to see if she forgot to put our food order in. Our waitress made some lame excuse on how the kitchen was backed up and she would check on our food (which was a lie because at this point it was nearly 1:00 pm and we had seen several tables who ordered after us and served). Shortly after checking with our waitress our food came out. One dish was an omelette which we asked for no tomatoes, low and behold it had tomatoes in it and the other items were a mix of their version of hash browns, waffles and a sausage patty. The food was awful, the waffle and sausage seemed dry like it had been sitting under a heat lamp. When our server finally came back she asked us about the food and we told her our issues. To our servers credit, she did get a manager who came to talk to us and ask us if she could do anything for us. After waiting as long as we did for the food, it didn't make sense to wait for them to remake anything for us. The manager did assure us that they do not have heat lamps (I don't believe that and if they don't then the server probably forgot about our meals and they quickly microwaved it to get them out to us warm) and that their kitchen was backed up (major lie as stated above). We ended up paying for the meal, no comps (we didn't ask or expect anything, but that extra service adds to what I would have tipped) or anything else and left a dollar for a tip as it reflected the service and experience we had. read more

My husband's plate was barely any food, mostly sauce. Honestly the only thing edible was the side of banana. I tried to call, and it was just a busy phone. Stopped in last Sunday about 1:30 for a quick bite with my 90 year old dad. Unfortunately, they were nearing closing time so everything my dad wanted was gone. No soup, no gravy, no chili.
