Small breakfast big check. Only women waitresses working there today and most days and mine tried to rip me off for a small 2 egg omelet and 2 slices of tomatoes for over $18.? I questioned the amount to my waitress and then ask to see the MGR or owner but only another fat black haired waitress "been there 40 years" told me to "get out and don't ever come back." So apparently if you complain about the bill or food they yell at you, while calling you names and kick you out. Been there a few times before and wasn't impressed and the menu prices keep going up but they're right next door to another coffee shop and restaurant it's nicer and cheaper so I don't understand their bad attitudes to cash paying customers like me? The food was mediocre. I got the chicken fried steak and by the time I got it, it was already soggy. There also wasn't much flavor to it. I had to season it with black pepper and salt. The only tasty item were the home style potatoes. I've never tried potatoes like this before! It's unique and delicious! Think of a cross between roasted potatoes and potato chips. It's crispy on the outside even crunchy on some parts but also starchy which I love. The service was pretty good. The server and other workers were super nice and friendly. They greeted us and seated us right away. The only con was our waiter. Although she was nice, we had to ask for things multiple times and she still ended up not giving us what we asked for. It was kinda frustrating to have to keep asking for the same thing and not have it delivered to our table. It wasn't things that were hard to get it. I asked for buttered toast the first time I ordered and I got dry toast. I asked for salsa and ketchup and she never came back to give us those condiments. All in all, I won't be coming back. I love Pacific Diner. Classic diner food, served in a timely manner. I have been coming here for years now and have never had a bad meal. The wait staff are friendly, professional, polite, and attentive to your needs. When I ask for a condiment or salsa not on the table the wait staff brings it immediately. They don't stop to clear dishes or deliver others food. They go and get what I've asked for right then. I usually get an omelet with hash brown potatoes. The omelet is always perfectly cooked with just the right amount of cheese. The hash browns are light with just the right amount of crispy, never greasy. This has been my neighborhood diner since I was a child. I have always supported them and really love their food, however during the last shut down they remained opened for on site dining. They lied to my Mother when she questioned them about it, after she had already called to ask them if she could go eat on their patio and they said "Come on down, you can eat here." I am told they were fined for it and put a sign up blaming their customers for not wearing masks! Hmm. Eating with a mask on might be a little bit difficult. Pacific Diner, I am so disappointed in you. Your lack of concern and stewardship for the health and safety of your neighbors and customers is completely unacceptable. I only hope nobody got sick, or worse...died because of it. I for one, will never support your business again, no matter how much I want an omelet. read more

We are visiting the Long Beach area for a scuba show and staying in San Pedro at the Air Force Base. Although, we come here often we have never tasted the home cooking of this area. Let me tell you we took the advice of some local young adults who live here for a good place to eat in San Pedro. Per the recommendation we drove to this Pacific Diner. Definitely the place to come and have breakfast. Excellent prices, fantastic employees and I felt like it was my grandmothers hospitality and cooking with all of the flavor of Mexican I wanted. If we had to park, I may have given this 4stars because parking is limited, but we stayed at a friend's house down the street... which means... we walked! Two entrances: inside the diner, or out to the patio. We chose inside, which has 2 booths and about 10-12 bar stools for the counter. We arrived just after 8:30am and it was just us! All the waiters were super nice and their food was very tasty: -biscuits and gravy -corn beef mix (eggs, onions, bell peppers, etc.) -short stack (mainly for my daughter) -fruit bowl -they also have crepes! But I'm 18wks pregnant,.. so I would have gotten a hangover because I LOVE crepes...but not today. *no kids menu* We left around 9:15am and the place got packed. One automatic star for bringing back the nostalgic memories. I grew up in SP and when I was a young one Pacific Diner aka "The Diner" was THE breakfast place (and still is to all the San Pedrans). Then once I grew up I copied my dad and started ordering the "grown up" stuff and that has been my for sure order ever since. That order would be the Texas Chili and Cheddar Omelet with a side of B&G. Hands down this Chili Omelet is the best out there! I get a chili omelet from most bfast places I go to and I always ask how their chili is and of course they say great but it rarely ever is. I don't even ask here bc I know it is great! It has tasted the same since I started eating it when was like 12 and that was quite some time ago. q: Their B&G is also really good but it's not the best of the best of my quest. I remember the gravy being different than what it was today. Still good and flavorful I even think they added bacon to the gravy mix. They also changed their salsa from what i remember so that was a big bummer. It used to be chunky with a good kick and this one was thin and no spice. My Aunt ordered the Vegetable Omelet which looked really good. So good I would consider not ordering my chili omelet once just to try it. Service is your usual fast diner service. I have to boost up my rating here. This place has the best breakfast meals going. Parking: When you drive up, you'll find the parking lot is on the right side of the building. To say this lot has tight parking is an understatement. It's has angled parking and they want you to pull in to your spot as far as you can. Go right on up until your front wheels are touching the curb (unless you have a Corvette or other low standing ride). If you don't pull all the way up, you car doors will basically touch your neighbors when you open (ding). If you drive through the small lot and don't find an empty spot, you'll end up intersecting with the back alley. Just make a right turn here and another right on the street. When you get to the main street (Pacific) you can sometimes find a street parking spot in either direction. There are usually some empty spaces on the side streets opposite the side the resturant is on. It's OK to park around here, the place is safe. If you think you park on the left-hand side of Pacific Diner, those spots belong to the Lighthouse Deli, which is right next door. You'll see the signs telling you not to park there are face the tow-truck. You know the deal and have seen these signs before. Staff: I think they have the best wait-staff going. Always busy, always friendly, and always taking care of the customers. They really make you feel welcomed and comfortable here. Not sure what you want? Ask them and they'll give you some ideas. The bus-boys are the same way, and they help out with pouring coffee and handing out menus when you sit down (if the girls are busy). Setting: There are actually like 4 different seating areas. The first is located in the front. This area is like walking into a very tiny diner. When you walk in the door, there are like 5 or 6 bar stools at a long diner bar. To the right side on that are 2 booths. That's it. If you didn't know about the back side, you would think, this is a wayyyy tiny place. Some people like sitting up here and it's OK. If you go around the back, which is the way you'll probably go anyway if you parked on the side, you'll find a large covered patio area. There's also an area that isn't covered. I think they have this rollout top they sometimes use if it's too hot out or raining or something. The tables and chairs out here are plastic, but this is a favorite spot for many. This is where I like to sit. Morning time along the coast can't be beat. If you go inside, it has that rustic feel it and that's cool. There is a pretty good size area just inside the two swinging doors and then another seating are further in (but I've never sat that far inside. Food: I think the other's have covered it fairly well. It's good stuff. Oh, don't forget, they are always closed on Tuesdays. read more

This place is great! Recommendation from a family member who used to live in the area... it did not disappoint! They have tons of different spots to eat. You can sit in the front of the restaurant diner tables or counter. You can walk around back and sit in the back of the restaurant where they have a tv to watch, or you can sit outside at larger, longer tables, but it's covered and breezy, it doesn't get hot. I'm new to the area so still trying to find my spots. I've been here a few tines for breakfast so I came in recently to try lunch. The lunch options were not so great. I settled for a Tuna Melt and asked if I could substitute my fries. My server told me that I could get potato salad, fruit or sliced tomatoes. I elected for the fruit. The Tuna Melt was nothing special. Too much mayo and it was not well grilled so it was soggy. My biggest surprise when I got my bill was that I got charged $1.50 for the fruit. Well that fruit was tart and soggy (so not that fresh). If I had known there was an extra charge for the fruit, I would have gotten potato salad or something else.
