Love this place! Atmosphere is awesome... always able to accommodate our party... feels like family when you walk in!

I have to boost up my rating here. This place has the best breakfast meals going. Parking: When you drive up, you'll find the parking lot is on the right side of the building. To say this lot has tight parking is an understatement. It's has angled parking and they want you to pull in to your spot as far as you can. Go right on up until your front wheels are touching the curb (unless you have a Corvette or other low standing ride). If you don't pull all the way up, you car doors will basically touch your neighbors when you open (ding). If you drive through the small lot and don't find an empty spot, you'll end up intersecting with the back alley. Just make a right turn here and another right on the street. When you get to the main street (Pacific) you can sometimes find a street parking spot in either direction. There are usually some empty spaces on the side streets opposite the side the resturant is on. It's OK to park around here, the place is safe. If you think you park on the left-hand side of Pacific Diner, those spots belong to the Lighthouse Deli, which is right next door. You'll see the signs telling you not to park there are face the tow-truck. You know the deal and have seen these signs before. Staff: I think they have the best wait-staff going. Always busy, always friendly, and always taking care of the customers. They really make you feel welcomed and comfortable here. Not sure what you want? Ask them and they'll give you some ideas. The bus-boys are the same way, and they help out with pouring coffee and handing out menus when you sit down (if the girls are busy). Setting: There are actually like 4 different seating areas. The first is located in the front. This area is like walking into a very tiny diner. When you walk in the door, there are like 5 or 6 bar stools at a long diner bar. To the right side on that are 2 booths. That's it. If you didn't know about the back side, you would think, this is a wayyyy tiny place. Some people like sitting up here and it's OK. If you go around the back, which is the way you'll probably go anyway if you parked on the side, you'll find a large covered patio area. There's also an area that isn't covered. I think they have this rollout top they sometimes use if it's too hot out or raining or something. The tables and chairs out here are plastic, but this is a favorite spot for many. This is where I like to sit. Morning time along the coast can't be beat. If you go inside, it has that rustic feel it and that's cool. There is a pretty good size area just inside the two swinging doors and then another seating are further in (but I've never sat that far inside. Food: I think the other's have covered it fairly well. It's good stuff. Oh, don't forget, they are always closed on Tuesdays. read more

I love this place for a hearty breakfast. Note that it is not open for dinner, just breakfast and lunch. I started going here more than 5 years ago and the service and food as continued to be amazing. Additionally, the location is great because you can drive to the San Pedro shore within 5-10 minutes, so if you go on a summer day and like the warmth, sit in the outdoor area, but sit inside on cold and windy days...which it commonly is in winter because it's so close to the shore. My order is always the same for the same reason my Starbucks order is usually the same...because if I order something else I'm still going to have the craving for my favorite dish later. My recommendation is the Steak bits & eggs. Marinated steak pieces with onion (sort of like fajitas) with sides of eggs and potato bits. Great breakfast spot, especially if you like omelettes. Omelettes run about $8-$11, so expect to spend about $15/person out the door. Julie, one of the waitresses, is a hoot! We've been coming here for over 20 years and always love having her serve us! Only qualm with this place is the parking. I will not park my car in their parking lot because I've seen too many doors opened into other cars, and street parking nearby can be a pain. I like breakfast places. Any kinda of breakfast places, actually. It gives me the feeling of a travel I went or feels like I'm traveling... Smells of coffee, faces of people..mostly they looked happy having a good breakfast in a cozy place.. This is exactly what you get in Pacific Diner. The customers were from the neighborhood. Nobody would drive far to eat here early in the morning, I think. We could sit in a booth since we came past 9:30AM there. Old fashioned dressed waitress, meaning a real short blue jean skirt and boots and all, was real friendly. She looked like she's working there forever, kinda knew everybody type.. I had short stack with bacon side. To my surprise the pancake was not hot, just warm, not softy a bit chewy(?). Coffee was not great but tons of refill she gave me. This is our go to breakfast restaurant. In fact our son regularly asks to come here. We have had a little of everything on the menu but usually fall back on a standard style breakfast. These guys know how to make an egg. When I order an over medium egg in other locations it comes out too runny or too hard, but here the egg whites are cooked through with still maintaining a runny yoke. I know it shouldn't be hard to make good eggs but I have found it's more difficult than one would think. You can't go wrong with whatever you order. Just make sure to ask for both salsas with your breakfast. As for the service they're great. They are efficient, friendly, and warm. They are awesome. read more

This place is great! Recommendation from a family member who used to live in the area... it did not disappoint! They have tons of different spots to eat. You can sit in the front of the restaurant diner tables or counter. You can walk around back and sit in the back of the restaurant where they have a tv to watch, or you can sit outside at larger, longer tables, but it's covered and breezy, it doesn't get hot. The menu is pretty much full of anything you'd order at a classic diner. Burgers. Patty Melts. Pancakes. Omelettes. Sandwiches. Everything we ordered was perfect! We got one of everything and shared it. All of the food at the tables around us looked delicious too and made it harder to order. We got a cheeseburger, patty melt, pancakes, omelette and grilled cheese. The burgers were cooked to perfection. The fries were golden, tasty, not greasy or over cooked, just right. Pancakes were a hit! Great flavor, thin, and never got soggy. Patty melt had great flavors too and the omelette was gorgeous! 3 1/2 stars. Yeah this place is pretty solid. Really nice servers and some of them are really cute too! It's Ryan's spot so he took me and Spencer. I ordered the chicken steak with biscuits and gravy. Steak is really solid but I didn't like the biscuits too much. They tasted like some kind of quick mix to me but the white gravy is pretty on point. I forget the name of what Spencer ordered but it's Mexican and it's got beef in it. I had a bite of it and it's really good. Made me wish I had ordered this instead. The coffee, man, they constantly fill your cup up. That's a really excellent sign of a breakfast place. Seriously, I must have had 4-5 cups of coffee. I also ordered their hazel coffee which was ok, not amazing. And finally I was really in the mood for something sweet in the end so asked for some French Toast with strawberries, which isn't on the menu but they totally made this for me so that was pretty cool. I'm new to the area so still trying to find my spots. I've been here a few tines for breakfast so I came in recently to try lunch. The lunch options were not so great. I settled for a Tuna Melt and asked if I could substitute my fries. My server told me that I could get potato salad, fruit or sliced tomatoes. I elected for the fruit. The Tuna Melt was nothing special. Too much mayo and it was not well grilled so it was soggy. My biggest surprise when I got my bill was that I got charged $1.50 for the fruit. Well that fruit was tart and soggy (so not that fresh). If I had known there was an extra charge for the fruit, I would have gotten potato salad or something else. If you want to get a little more sassy they have an eggs benedict with avacado and bacon...yummy....Both of these plates we good side with mouth watering food. Excellent food. We met a bunch of old friends here for breakfast. Having eaten here & the Omelet and Waffle Shop, this one has higher quality food. The menu is more traditional, but they do have some Mexican-inspired breakfast items. Wait time is quite long, though. You can sit outdoors quickly, but since it is so close to the ocean, it gets cold! Parking can also be difficult. They have a lot, but it is tiny. Street parking is often full as well. I got a combination platter with waffle, sausage, and eggs. It was more than I thought, with a thick, delicious Belgian waffle, plenty of syrup and melted butter on the side. DH got the chorizo and eggs, hash browns. He enjoyed it immensely. "That was a good breakfast. Very pleased." We tried a bit of our friend's biscuit & gravy. The gravy was obviously house-made and the biscuit was tender and moist. Delicious. Prices are very affordable too. Service is great...they refilled my coffee many times and brought out more non-dairy creamer. Coffee is strong...good job! Highly recommended. read more

One of local favorite diner! Been wanting to try this place awhile now. Got a chance to come alone today. There is inside seating area or a covered patio. I was seated inside, immediately greet by a waiter and ask what I would like to drink. Order an ice tea and he said me the un sweeten or raspberry? Pretty attentive. After placing my order the avocado omelette with side of gravy biscuit, the order came 10 mins later. Food was good! The breakfast potatoes was simple no onion no frills but crispy and perfect. The gravy does have an onion powder package taste to it, but it was generous serving for only 75 cents extra. The waitress didnt check on me after, maybe cuz i was dinning alone. I saw other tables got ask how its everything couple times but its cool. When I was getting the check, the waitress was nice and ask me if I like a cup of ice tea to go so extra point for that. My friend and I stumbled upon this place on a trip to the Sunken City. As soon as we got there we knew this was the kind of place the locals go. The waitresses knew everyone's name and I even heard her say, "I'll get you the usual, honey.. but what about your friend?". LA is so depersonalized at times, I forget that places like this exist. I ordered the chilaquiles and my friend ordered the steak bites (which is what all the other Yelpers rave about). We actually sat in silence and ate for 5 minutes - which she does all the time, but I never do. It was so delicious. The chilaquiles sauce was so flavorful, the hashbrowns were a mix of shredded and slices potatoes and seasoned to perfection and the eggs were cooked well. I really wish I had more excuses to drive down to San Pedro, but if and when I'm in town next I'll be coming back to the Pacific Diner. read more

Came here last Monday while on business in San Pedro. Ordered the steak and eggs with biscuits and gravy. Came out perfectly. Their breakfast potatoes that came with are the best! Having not been in the area for a while, it was satisfying to see that the venue and food quality and consistency had not changed. My only complaint is that it is not about 45 minutes closer to home, but that's life, I guess. A clarification-one Yelper noted that this is a Mexican American diner. This is not exactly accurate, since is it primarily an American style diner which offers Mexican items, which is standard for Southern California. If one were to so label all diners and restaurants in Southern California that have breakfast burritos and huevos rancheros on the menu, about 90 percent of them would be considered Mexican-American. Not a negative comment here, since I too like breakfast burritos and huevos rancheros, I'm just sayin....... I'll be back the next time I am in San Pedro on business. read more

Great service (Vickie always treats us very nice), and very good food, too! Parking is limited, but street parking is available. Closes at 3:00 and closed Tuesday's. I have been to pacific diner numerous times. This past time is what made me finally write this review. The food is insanely good here!!! Everything from their coffee to omelets are amazing. I usually stick with the machaca omelette or the John Wayne... But the past two times lve gotten adventurous and tried things on the specials menu. Boy I'm glad I did!!! Last time I was there I ordered their crab, (yes REAL crab) avocado, hollandaise omelette and ohemgee was it good!! My boyfriend tried it and he was also in love! Talk about generous portions too! This time I was there, I ordered the bacon avocado scramble Benedict. Umm pure genius! Who would have thought?? A scramble Benedict?? Sooo amazing. One of the most charming diners I have ever set foot in. Located just a few blocks from the ocean in San Pedro, this adorable greasy spoon has been serving customers since the 1950's. The interior is homey and inviting, sparsely decorated with a casual nautical theme. At first glance the place looks tiny, but actually has plenty of bar and table seating, with an attached outdoor patio. My boyfriend and I came here for breakfast on Christmas Eve and opted to sit at the counter, which was lovely. It offers a nice vantage point of the diner, and allowed us to observe the interactions of some of the colorful regulars. The coffee is great, and they keep it flowing. The hand drawn menu offers a variety of breakfast and lunch diner classics, with, unsurprisingly, zero vegan options. However, they were happy to accommodate my request for a side of hash browns, cooked with mushrooms, tomatoes, spinach, and peppers, with avocado on top. I forgot to take a picture, but wow-this dish was beautiful. An enormous heap of perfectly crisp hash browns (hand shredded, not the frozen kind), tossed with a generous serving of vegetables, and topped with an entire avocado. The meal was as delicious as it was hearty, and well seasoned without being overly oily or salty. The young Latina waitress was super sweet, and perfectly attentive. Pacific Diner is now one of my favorite breakfast spots, and I greatly look forward to returning. read more

We come here every couple months and this was the first time I've been so disappointed. There were 4 tables that were seated after us and served and left before we even got our food. Our food took over an hour and a half to get. Then to top it off, all my food was cold. Not even lukewarm. I had bacon, egg whites, fried potatoes (well done) and biscuit s and gravy. The bacon was barely cooked. The 'fried' potatoes were more like mashed potatoes that were browned on one side only. My husband said to send it back.
