The last time I was here I was slightly tipsy and starving so any food was going to be amazing...but today my daughter and I came back and confirmed what I remembered from my last visit. The burger here is AMAZING! I destroyed mine like a fat kid kills birthday cake. Even my daughter who is a notoriously small eater got over half down and made me get a box. Amazing flavor and the fries are cooked to perfection. If you haven't been here you are missing out. Allison took extremely good care of us...prompt and attentive service even though it was pretty busy. She's awesome so if you get her section you are already winning. I'm not sure what this place does well. It's pretty. That's probably the best thing. The food is okay. Happy hour is pricey for the area and what you get. Drinks are on the higher end of the scale. I waited until my second visit to review Pacific House, in hopes that my first visit shortly after their opening was a bit of a fluke (we came with a big group on a week night, incredibly slow service, two staff working, and inedible truffle mac and cheese). Turns out this just seems to be the norm for Pacific House. This past Sunday a friend and I came to Pacific House for brunch so we could watch some football. It was a busy morning, but there was still tables open. We were told to seat ourselves, then waited 20 minutes for a menu. There were two waitresses, one bartender, and one busser. Bad sign. Drinks took another 20. Our food (A breakfast BLT and French toast) took over an hour, and was cold and soggy by the time it got to our table. I sent it back and waited another 15 minutes for a warm plate. Getting our check was almost a half hour process. Our food was alright once it was made properly, and the waitress was very nice and apologized, then discounted my meal. That and the awesome space with every game imaginable on are the only reasons for the second star. I hope in the future that management gives their staff a chance, and gives them more help on busy days. Until then, Pacific House is going to be regarded as a drinks only spot for me! read more

Good food, service is lacking. We went to Pacific House on a Saturday night, around 730. We sat near the front door and a waitress promptly gave us menus and took our drink order. Once she brought our waters we didn't see her for at least 20 minutes to order food. The food was slow to come out but there was a large party upstairs for a birthday. She never came back to our table to ask if we wanted anything more to drink or to fill our waters. I went to the bar to order a raspberry mule and didn't receive service until I flagged down a waitress who wasn't even behind the bar. The two girls behind the bar were cleaning and chatting with patrons sitting at the bar. After our food came out and we were finished eating it was about 30 minutes before we were checked on again, at which point we asked for boxes and the check. A while later, they arrived. I had been here for drinks a few weeks ago and had awesome service, a lot of attention to when our drinks were empty. It makes me wonder if because we ordered waters Saturday and didn't start with alcohol, we were pushed to the back burner. read more

Every time I have come here, food has been outstanding on top of having stellar service. I absolutely love the atmosphere during brunch, the people, the hype of football mixed with unlimited mimosas and their bomb.com breakfast BLT. This was truly my answer to prayer! Stranded at an Airbnb with NO food and no transportation I was cold and hungry and walking the streets in the snow trying to find anywhere open. This CA girl walked in here near (okay in tears) and Dana - my little angel took care of me like I was her own. I can't thank Dana enough for her beautiful spirit and putting me back on my feet. The restaurant is at capacity now AND it's only her taking care of EVERYONE. Low quality bar food, and overpriced. AFTER finishing placing our take out order for 3 people, they imposed a surprise 18% "service fee" on top of our bill, which was never disclosed anywhere before placing my order. I am pretty sure this "service charge" goes straight to owner's pockets rather than employee's tip box. Plus: I had never heard that take out orders from a mediocre "bar type" restaurant are subject to "mandatory service fee of 18%". Those are generally for higher end restaurants for dine in customers and for bigger parties, not a smaller take out order. My last time at this place. read more

The small arugala salad was the perfect size (large would have been way too big, I think). Fried broccoli was tasty and my partner in crime said the BLT was tasty to boot. We went on a Saturday night at a busy time, so it took quite a while to get any service. But the beer was good, and the food was interesting. I had a standard hamburger, which was fine but nothing great, and a Scotch egg that was also good. Surprisingly, the really good part for me was the spicy green slaw that came with the Scotch egg. Without that the egg would have been pretty boring, but the spicy slaw made it great. We also had the steak bites and truffle mac n cheese, both of which were ok. The mac n cheese really needs some baked bread crumbs or something to give it more texture variety, and something spicy as a side, maybe a jalapeño relish. Overall, I liked the variety on the menu. The noise level was kind of high for my taste. Maybe put some cloth stuff on the walls, or acoustic tiling to reduce the noise. Wait staff was nice when we did see them. read more

It's simple. This is one of my favorite places downtown Vancouver. I particularly enjoy the staff and in specific the lead manager Chris. These guys know how to take care of you and service is great. Everything on the menu that Ive tried has been excellent well prepared timely hot when it's supposed to be hot cold when it's supposed to be cold. Try the burger on gluten-free if you're so inclined. Our first time here and we had a great experience. We enjoyed the beers on tap and the fried broccoli was as good as everyone says. I wasn't a fan of the black garlic dipping sauce, but the broccoli is good enough without needing sauce. We enjoyed our meals; fish and chips and the BBQ chicken sandwich. The BBQ chicken sandwich was the best I've had in a long time. Food prices did seem high, which is why I would not give them 5 stars. But service was great as the atmosphere was nice. *we went back again the other night and had a great time. For whatever reason, the prices didn't seem as high. Maybe because it was happy hour? Meh...I thought the food was mediocre. I got the bourbon pork chops with Brussels sprouts + Mac & cheese. The mac & cheese was a substitute for mashed potatoes (they were out of mash potatoes). Stopped in for a couple of drinks and had a nice time tonight. I ordered a cider off the menu and was informed that the cider i ordered wasnt there anymore, but they had a cranberry cider instead. So I agreed and it was great. We had a couple of interesting looking plates of food. One was a scotch egg. Perfectly cooked and very tasty. It came with a slaw made from brussel sprouts that tasted very good. The other thing we had was dirty fries. Everyone was eating them and i can see why now. They come with a truffle ketchup that i could have gone for a swim in. Its so addicting that you want to drink it by the cup. Ooor maybe thats just me. Unfortunately the fries came with a bunch of bacon pieces on top that were cooked so hard that they were inedible. I tried several times hoping to catch a break but they all were trash. I let the guy bartender know to tell the kitchen. He said hed take it off our bill but i said no, the dish was great and i loved it. Pacific House is a bar and restaurant in downtown Vancouver. Service is friendly and efficient and although they have a short menu, what they do.have is good. I had the BLT,, with avocado added and a simple green salad served next to the sandwich. The bread was good sourdough--difficult to find away from the Bay Area. The bread had been grilled, the bacon was crisp and not greasy, the tomato slice ripe and the avocado perfect. Seating at Pacific consists mostly of those trendy high tables and chairs, although regular tables and chairs can be accessed in an upper level just 3-4 stairs from the entry level. We had an order of French fries, which were non-greasy and nicely prepared. My friend had the house salad, which contained a generous amount of white meat chicken. Pacific House is, mainly, a sports bar, with large tv screens tuned to different stations, covering the walls. Being a sports bar, the lighting is low, which is a bit gloomy during the day. Add to that the mops and brooms situated in plain sight from the upstairs seating, and the slightly dirty adjacent walls, I would recommend a screen to put that area out of sight. We have not visited Pacific House after dark, but I would imagine that is when it shines. read more

Great service, but the food and drinks are overpriced and not good. We got the ribs appetizer for $12 under the impression that there were 7 ribs in it. We got it and there were 4. The purpose was to share them. Had that been the case, we wouldn't have gotten them. I also got one of their craft cocktails for $9 and it was flavorless. For two drinks and our app, plus tip was about $40. That's a lot for two drinks and an appetizer in Vancouver. I'd go back, perhaps to give it one more shot, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again. read more

Happy Hour is not so happy!!!! We thought we'd try this place for the first time and were disappointed. Our Happy Hour bill was $60!!! It consisted of 2 people. 2 coronas, 2 IPA's, Nachos and a burger! Way way overpriced!!! The nachos were not good. The cheese was grated cheese that they heated in the microwave and the toppings were poor. The burger was decent but would have gone elsewhere and paid the same for burger AND fries!! I'm a vet when it comes to going out. I worked as a server at a fine dining restaurant, I go out with consistent regularity. I love the pacific house. Great food. Great service. Amazing staff. I have had: The arugula salad with smoked chicken and added avocado. This is now my go to dish here because of the portion size, flavor, and overall balance of ingredients. I mean, salads tend to be a precursor for the meal, but this one holds it's own. The Spicy Chicken wings. I like wings, the flavor is good, but nothing to write home about. More importantly, they come with wet napkins to wipe your hands down so that I don't walk around all day with chicken sauce on my face. (has happened, probably will happen again, but not if I eat them here) BLT. Holy sauce guys, this is the best BLT in downtown. The garlic aioli, add avocado, and a nice stack of fries. I would come here every day for one if my heart and waistline could stand it. Tuna melt. Solid Tuna melt, nothing fancy, but you son't really want to go overboard. The flavor of the tuna, cheese, onion etc. is so bold, why mess with it? The burger. Definitely worth getting. The patty is obviously superior to most places around town and not cooked into a briquette of overdone meat or a lump of unseasoned red. The toppings are perfect accompaniment and you have to go with fries. On to the service: Initially it was hit or miss. They seemed understaffed and frustrated, but held on and tried to smile and greet you when you came in....even if you didn't get menus until 10 minutes later. Since opening though, it seems like the kinks have been ironed out and they have done a great job in hiring friendly servers. The lumberjack look on the female servers is kind of weird, but theme I guess? The decor. I feel like I can't complain because it's SUCH AN IMPROVEMENT from the previous bar. I mean, it's day and night and they had to clean up 25 years of half ass fixes on that space. That said, I see your theme, why not get some rad photos on your walls of downtown Vancouver history? They are just pretty bare outside of the EIGHT TVS. I feel like I know all the sports ever when I leave there. I look forward to eating here weekly, seeing them grow, and developing a little more personality for the walls. I don't know what has happened to this place since it last opened, maybe it just was a terrible night? What used to be terrific mussels now tasted like ravioli sauce with undercooked mussels. The black kale salad is just absolutely slaughtered with cheese and even still it is incredibly bitter and dull. Service was slow and insincere. Expensive happy hour...
