I asked if he wanted to hear the sound. He did not. I left him to it. 35 or so minutes later, he said that he cleaned debris from the pumps, showed me a shard of glass, and when I listened to it running for a few seconds, the sound seemed to be gone. Great. Then he said it would be $245, his minimum labor charge. That sounded rather steep to me. He lowered it to $220 (after pretending to text a boss, which I don't think he has), but that was still more than I felt was fair for the work he did. The next time I ran a load of dishes the sound was there again. I emailed him, attaching a short video of the noise happening, and he wrote that he would come by to check it out. I asked for times that would work for him, and at that point he stopped replying. After that, I asked for a partial refund. Again, no response. I feel a bit ripped off, paying $220 when the problem wasn't even resolved. So, no, I cannot recommend Davyd/PDX Repair. I suggest looking for a more honorable, experienced appliance repair person, as I will the next time I need one.

He worked very efficiently and gave me a detailed breakdown of what parts had failed, what would be involved in replacing it, how long it would take to get the needed parts, and exactly what the cost would be. When he returned with the needed parts a few days later, I asked if he could look at some issues we had with our kitchen stove, and he very kindly went over all the burners and the oven parts with me, going into the "innards" of the oven to diagnose in detail what was going on. He clearly explained what was going on with our clogged burners, clearing them on the spot, and showing me exactly what was going on with the main oven and broiler igniters (both of which clearly needed replacement; he took photos that showed exactly what was going on inside my oven). When it became clear that the broiler igniter was backordered, he went out on E-Bay to find one that could be delivered within a week. The full repair estimate was VERY reasonable and clearly conveyed to me - and it was less than half of what another appliance repair person had told us (without supporting details) when we tried to fix our stove before. I would heartily recommend OMG and their excellent tech Anton for any home appliance repairs - they're rock stars!!

Chris came back on 4/14/26 and fully assembled the dryer and got the old Maytag working great with a new motor and blower. No extra charges for the visit/labor. Also he checked my dishwasher and showed me how to clean the food trap and did a quick inspection. Excellent service and we really like Chris and Stellar Appliance Repair! I am old school and do not like discarding and buying new - Chris can work with older mechanical appliances and give you his best opinion on whether to save or replace.

We called Knapp again, and although he tried to fix it, he had to break the news that the dryer was beyond repair. He quickly arranged for another used dryer and, with his helper, wrestled it into place (no small feat in our old basement). Unfortunately, that one turned out to have an issue too. At that point, the laundry was piling up, and we even had a wedding coming up, so it was definitely stressful. But true to form, James came back with yet another dryer, hauled the faulty one away, and installed a beautiful used gas dryer that has been working like a dream. Through all the hiccups, he and his assistant stuck with it until the problem was solved, and we couldn't be happier. Best of all, the cost was very reasonable. I'm certain any other company would have charged more and been far less persistent about getting the dryer into the small, tricky space we have. If I could give Knapp 10 stars, I would.
