Read many reviews about Page's so I decided to try them out. I am happy that I did. The place is not very big but the service and food make up for its size. JJ was our server and she was delightful. We never felt rushed even when the place was closing down. No one shooed us away but we understood when we took a second to look around and noticed there was no one left in the restaurant. As for the food. I had the egg avocado salad sandwich and it was sooo good. Someone ordered the skillet and was also very happy with her choice. I would definitely recommend this spot for both it's service and food. Will be back again soon. PS I wish I would have thought of taking pictures. read more

Update: I've given the place several chances, and each time had been a complete letdown. My plain scrambled eggs always tasted like peppers or onions, so I suppose it's a good thing I don't have any allergies, but that's something to look out for if you do. But more important than all that is that after my first review an owner (manager? Employee?) Cecelia r. Messaged me with the excuses in the photo. Don't argue with your customers, lady. I don't give a damn about the state the restaurant was in when you bought it (fix it, duh? Or you have no business being open, I mean us this place even up to code? Jeez) or how much it cost you, this obviously isn't about YOU it's about the terrible, over priced food you serve. After 3 visits, I just feel they prefer to see their regulars on Sunday. No warm welcome and as a non-regular, I got the rough treatment. Very tight quarters and they must want you in-out on Sunday. I wasn't sure what I felt like having when I first walked in (15 minutes after they open) and got bombarded by the waitress at first, then ignored. I had to ask multiple times for water and a refill of my commuter coffee mug. Just not worth the half hour drive into Hinsdale, to get ignored and to feel like a nuisance. My mom, 5-year-old son, and I went around noon on a Sunday. It was busy but we only waited about 5 minutes. The food was excellent, and arrived quickly. I had the Cobb salad (huge and so fresh!) and my mom had the Brussels sprout salad that was on special - that was also fantastic. The 1/2 order was more than enough for my mom, with me sampling plenty of it. My little one had the kids' pancakes and some of their AMAZING apple cider donuts. Everyone was friendly, but efficient. Only drawback was that it was really tight quarters - I had to put my coat back on outside because there wasn't enough room once I stood up, and I didn't want to hold up the family behind me waiting to get out as well. I was so excited to come here and pick up some apple cider donuts but wow the cold reception I received walking in. I've never felt so unwelcomed anywhere-and as an Indian woman it just made me so sad. The older woman who put the donuts aside from me smiled a little but the rest acted like an alien walked in. This is just a note about the Donut Lady at the Kindle Market, as their were cards out So.,,Yesterday I got a half-dozen apple cider donuts at the Kindlmarket in Naperville and I made the comment to the ladies behind the counter, "Im so glad I don't have to get Stans now!" To which she said something like, "don't say that name." So today is Saturday morning and these donuts are the freshest, moistest and the tastiest donuts I have ever had. Had a late breakfast here last Sunday with my brother and wife. This is a wonderful old school diner that has been here "forever" but I'd never had the opportunity to try it. We were lucky to score a table as the place is packed! They have a large menu with lots of variety - traditional food items and newer things as well. We started off by ordering one of their famous apple cider donuts to split three ways. It was warm and yummy. I am a breakfast girl, so I had the Pages Scramble and toast. This was delicious and covered with ooey gooey cheese. Came with a side of hash browns cooked to perfection. My brother had a Denver omelette and my sis in law had them make her a veggie scramble. Loved this downtown diner. Old-school wooden tables, they prefer cash, and there's a huge menu of delicious specials. We had the chilaquiles (with very tasty, spicy homemade salsa) and the gyro skillet and were impressed by both. They keep the hot coffee coming. This local favorite is busy all the time for a good reason - it's diner food, served friendly, fast, fresh and hot, nothing fancy, but very high quality. All the usual breakfast and lunch items are here plus a few surprises, all at decent prices (for Hinsdale!) I had the chicken fried steak with 2 over easy eggs and country gravy. I ran across a stroke of timing luck in snagging a togo pack of their donuts on their way to a farmers market. They were still warm so of course I had to sample immediately. This is my first review of this restaurant, so a couple of qualifiers. 1) This is based upon only eating here twice, and 2) I ordered the same thing both times. I had heard through the grapevine that this place had good food, but not being a fan of diner food in general, I sort of avoided it. But one morning I was curious, and decided to check it out. Loved everything about the place. First of all it is very VERY tiny. Hardy enough room to squeeze around. Normally I wouldn't enjoy that, but for some reason, I loved it here and it just added to the ambiance. The place is cute as a button. Tons of pictures of locals and lots of fun signs on the walls. I really loved the U-shaped old-style diner counter that I actually remember being there decades ago when I was a kid. Everyone in the place (customers and workers) seemed to be happy to be there and quite friendly. It really felt like a small-town meeting place. They only serve breakfast and lunch, but between the long list of specials on the board and the very decent-sized menu, they offer a lot of options. I ordered the huevos rancheros and loved it. Be forewarned, it is served with a salsa verde which is spicy, so if you prefer milder ask for their red salsa which is also perfect. The huevos were excellent as were the hash browns. Waitress asked me if I wanted them crispy and I did. They were the real thing and cooked perfectly -- nice and crispy on the outside without being burned and soft inside. Eggs were also cooked perfectly. I loved my first breakfast so much I returned a few days later and ordered the same thing again, thinking maybe I was just so hungry the first time that I over-estimated the quality. My second meal was even better! I thought the prices were fair for the high-quality of the food received and the large portions. They do not skimp. At the register I was sucked in by the incredible smell of the fresh donuts and took one to go. It was huge and very tasty. My only criticism was that both times the waitress never stopped at the table to ask if the food was okay... and they plopped down the bill as soon as the food came and didn't come back unless I flagged them down. So their service needs some improvement (in fairness it was pretty busy both times). But I'll tolerate inattentive service for great food any day. Looking forward to trying many of their other items like their french toast, waffles, sandwiches, homemade soups, liver & onions, pot roast, etc. read more

Was visiting from NYC and happy to have found this place. First thing I felt when I walked in was authentic, cozy, classic and community driven if that makes sense. Everyone here was super nice and the menu options & specials were the perfect amount. No matter what you order you have to try the apple donut here!!! Can't describe how good it was! I can't express how awful the first 5 minutes were I this place. I was so excited to see it by appearance but once the stank owner opened her mouth I knew I needed to not return. She was so dramatic. Eye rolling people that asked about seating. Ignoring the line. Kissing butt to the regulars. God help me I can't get out if here fast enough. We took the train out to Hinsdale and were looking for a quick late lunch over the weekend. Cosi and Corner Bakery were in sight, but we thought we'd support a local business and head into Pages Diner instead and boy am I happy we did! The moment we walked in, we were greeted by several friendly folks and just felt like we had been transported back 20-30 years. The menu had a great selection of breakfast and lunch. I ordered an egg skillet with peppers, onions and chorizo and it was SO good! I was pleasantly surprised to see it come out in corn tortillas and the hash browns were some of the best I have tried! It is a rare sight for me to leave my plate completely clean but I did with this meal. Everyone was very friendly and our waitress was awesome. I loved how the staff seemed to know all their patrons by name and engaged in friendly conversation. Our waitress was super sweet, made some great recommendations on the menu and just made our dining experience really pleasant. Yes, this place has seen better days, but it's a diner! You expect old booths and to feel like the place is stuck in the 70s. Unlike other reviewers, I thought the bathroom was very clean. Yes, it is a little weird that as you go to bathroom you can look right into the kitchen, but whatever, this isn't a spot for fine dining so it is not a deal breaker. read more

Pages is a small diner that has a very small country town feel (who would have imagined in Hinsdale?) As soon as you walk you almost expect to have a waitress with a bee hive hair do and cat frame glasses approach you and call you "sugar" or "honey". The service IS friendly, but come to Pages on a weekend morning and the food may take awhile and it may be tricky to get a table. My complaints surround on how small Pages is. It's a shame that they couldn't expand, but there is just no room in here to breathe sometimes! The last Saturday morning that I ate here there was a line out the door. And that I wish they took credit cards.... But, the food is comforting in both scent and taste and it's a nice place for the neighborhood. Try their pancakes and hash browns! read more

Page's Restaurant is Above Average for a number of reasons including food made out of food, friendly staff and customers, fair prices, quick service, hot coffee, a long and interesting menu and donuts from a local bakery if you wake up early enough and get there. (If you sleep in, you will miss out.) Truly good diners are hard to find in this region so an independent place like Page's should be treasured and supported. There's no shortage of sub-par family restaurants that should be this good that are not. Many of them need to be re-tooled. This one does not. It is as good as it should be and I hope it carries on for decades to come. Anyone who rates it three stars or below should either be eating at home (too picky) or should probably steer themselves more toward the upper-crust, white table cloth, bistro type joints (expecting to "discover" nouveau hipster cuisine where it shouldn't be). Page's is the kind of place that is a community hub. They support local efforts and it shows. The view of the sidewalk and the train station is 100 percent pure American downtown/uptown gold. I drive out of my way to eat here anytime I am in the area. You would do well to do the same. read more

I have been here twice now and love it. It is perfect for a hot lunch on a cold day. I love the curly fries because they aren't seasoned and once you dump some cheese on them they are even better. My only suggestion is do not sit in the booth right next to the door when the heat is on unless you like to be a balmy 85 degrees. The vent for the heat is over there and I thought I was going to melt, but anywhere else in the place is fine. When you walk in you are greeted by two friendly waitress you run the place and you seat yourself. The specials on the the wall before you walk in and on the board behind the counter so you know what they have right away. I can see how this place would not be as great on a weekend morning but during the week for lunch it is great when you are sick of eating chain food. I know a past review listed them as cash only but there is a visa sticker on the door, but I have never seen anyone use a card, so to be safe I would travel with cash here. read more
