No credit card, no debit card, no Zelle, Venmo, CashApp... Nothing else. Now for the main attraction, the Food. I'm reluctant to critique anyone's artistry, but this food is shit. There is no nicer word. Relatively certain the eggrolls, the chicken tenders, all of it comes frozen and is loudly prepared on a grill. Since you can't see it being cooked, all you can hear is the metal utensil clanging loudly against the grill. All of the sauce is store-bought, prepackaged, sugary, gelatinous slop. I suppose the only nice thing I can say about this place they have free parking. Seriously, save your time and your cash. Do NOT eat here.

The skin is so flavorful and the meat is tender. The bag of drippings it comes with it is liquid gold -- drizzle that over the duck and a bed of rice (rice not included). You can request extra drippings. Call ahead to reserve a roast duck with a pick up time, as they can get busy and run out. One roast duck fills a standard square styrofoam container. The restaurant is carry out only. It's located in the middle of a bunch of warehouses and there's a big free parking lot. The roast pork is also good and has a thick crispy crust, but the duck is definitely the star.

It was nice and if you are a big rice eater I'd recommend increasing your order to a pint.

I got a Hug in a Mug, which was kind of a mocha with cinnamon, and it was very yummy; I'd get that again. I also got a bagel with cream cheese, which apparently originatese from St. Paul Bagelry, and this was also very nice. It seems like if all of these customers were to try cramming themselves into a normal-size cafe, it would be very loud and bustling. But since this is a big building, the vibes are a litte cozier even if there are lots of chatting people in there. I like it. They also have multiple tea options and some sandwiches, and even pizza, in addition to a normal baked goods case (apparently stocked by Patisserie 46 and Cardigan Donuts). They also have pottery prominently advertised, and although I didn't spot very much of that, what I did see looked really cute. I might consider one of those mugs to give as a gift some day, but I will for sure return for the coffee and to try some of their other offerings.

Pagoda in Dinkytown, Minneapolis offers dim sum weekends from 10-3Pm with items being pushed around on the carts. You can also get dim sum made to order on weekdays as well, but I believe it costs a bit more compared to their weekend offerings. It's the most convenient place to grab dim sum if you live right in the Twin Cities compared to Yangtze Restaurant in St. Louis Park or Mandarin Kitchen in Bloomington in the suburbs. Their variety of offerings is a bit better than your average dim sum restaurant in other major US cities. I personally think their steamed dumpings are a bit greasier than what I am used to for dim sum, but the taste excellent regardless. They offer what I consider to be the classic steamed dim sum items such as shrimp dumpling, shark fin dumplings (no they aren't made out of real shark fin, the tips are simply shaped like them), shrimp noddle rolls with the sweet sauce, baked and steamed barbecue pork buns. Plus if you're into other, more greasy items, you can get baby octopus, squid, chicken feet etc. They also have those delicious custard pies too, but they taste better when piping hot vs later on as they chill, which hardens them. Sometimes I request them to be warmed up in the microwave, but that of course takes away from the flavor a little bit. On weekends Pagoda advertises unlimited dim sum for $30 with bottomless mimosa, but in my experience most people don't eat more than $20 worth of dim sum per visit, unless you want to carry a boulder in your stomach all the way home. The average person is better off opting for à la cart in my opinion. Pagoda also it's too big of a restaurant so you will spend almost zero time waiting for the servers to come round with the carts of dim sum offerings you enjoy. You can easily get a seat, eat and be out of there within 30 minutes if you have a party of 4 or less at your table. Mandarin kitchen in Bloomington can sometimes makes you wait for a table, especially if you arrive early, so if you don't want to spend time waiting to eat, Pagoda is a good place to go. It's never too crowded there. Just be careful on weekends when it's football season in the fall since you might have a harder time finding places to park! I do know that Pagoda offers a few parking spots behind their building according to their staff. If $20/person is too expensive for you, then I suggest arriving to Pagoda on Saturdays or Sundays and getting a seat between 10Am-11Am in order to receive a 20% early bird discount on your bill. Neither Yangtze Restaurant in St. Louis Park nor Mandarin Kitchen in Bloomington in the suburbs offer early bird deals, which is why Pagoda is my favorite dim sum restaurant in the twin cities. FYI, if you eat dim sum at Pagoda on weekends when they offer food on carts, a 15% gratuity will automatically be included to help pay for all the extra servers. I've been eating dim sum at Pagoda pretty regularly and I hope they keep serving dim sum for a long time to come! read more

After living in China and eating REAL Sichuan style food, I have to say Pagoda really does good Sichuan food! I love spice, and the flavor in their dishes is often very impressive! Recently I've ordered the Spicy Szechuan Chicken and Spicy Beef Noodle Soup. The chicken is bite-size and crispy, yet it has a slight spicy from the dried hot chilies and green onion. Have it with rice and you've got a great meal for two, or one hungry person. The noodle soup is as close to authentic Sichuan style that I have encountered in Minneapolis! Now, this soup is SPICY! If you don't like spice this one might be too much, but if you like spice even a little I recommend this one very strongly! The noodles are perfectly cooked, the beef is super tender and melts in your mouth, and the soup is such a flavorful peppery, beefy broth. This broth really brings it all together, and makes it such a special dish. If you don't want to commit fully to one dish, then try the lunch special, pick-5 for $7.50 and sample any of the dishes you want. If you order the dishes by themselves though the quality of the vegetables and chicken is even better! My mind has been blown almost every time I go here. read more

We used to go there all the time and now I remember why we had stopped going for awhile. The service is hit or miss. We walked in tonight with a server rudely greeting us "can i help you?" " yes table for two,please" I responded. "k, sit anywhere you like" he returns as walking away. When we asked for lemon for our water, the server returned to our table with two sliced of semi dried up lemon and places them on our table(yes table, not plate, not glass of waterbut table) for us to put into our very own glass of water. At the end what bothers me the most is they tack on a gratuity for two people. Normally I have never left less than ten dollars for gratuity but tonight they help me do math and the receipt showed they were worth nine so I just left what they ask. If they leave the gratuity spot blank I think they would have at least gotten 10, 12 bucks, but oh well. The food was mediocre, just don't order the papaya and peanut soup for your hotpot because they gave us some spoiled papaya. Yuck prolly not going back ever again. read more

We got takeout from this restaurant last night, after having their dim sum last sunday we thought we'd give their menu a try. We ordered some soup, bbq pork, and a house fried rice. Everything was great, except for the tilapia soup, ive had better. Their bbq pork was so delicious im usually picky about that one and only like it on the bone, but this one is bonesless AND SO YUMMY THAT I ATE THE WHOLE BOX! Their fried rice is flavorful and i like my rice a little bit salty so this one was perfect. They are open late, and serve alcohol if youre ever in the dinky town area go check it out! read more

This is pretty good. I've only ever had take-out and it comes hot, timely, and how I ordered. My gf has eaten in the restaurant and really loves it. I think the food could be spicier, and the rice is pretty lackluster. (The fried rice is not at all your typical fried rice-- it's basically yellow white rice with mystery chunks in it. Not worth the extra fee.) Overall, we like it pretty well. We will continue to order until something better comes our way. So far this is the best we've found in Minneapolis. read more

DO NOT EAT HERE! THIS RESTAURANT SUPPORTS SHARK FINNING! Pagoda has shark fin soup on their menu. Shark finning is a horrible practice where the fins are cut off and the shark is thrown back into the water, left to die because it can't swim. Many countries have regulations against shark finning. The soup can legally be sold in the U.S. as long as the sharks weren't finned in U.S. waters. Please help save the sharks and don't eat at restaurants that support shark finning! read more

Not the best or worst place to eat, they have a wide variety of items to choose from...I tend to stay away from seafood of anykind when eating anywhere in the midwest but the softschell crabs were quite good. Went when there was a 4 dish for 30 dollars deal. The dishes we got were pretty decent, the fish dish had a smaller dish than regular though

The hotpot is excellent! The all you can eat is definitely good value and the meat is good quality as well. Will definitely come again!

Only Spot that make Xiao Long Bao. You have to eat it in the restaurant otherwise it's already cold by the time you get home.

But this recent visit was such a disappointment I felt the need to warn others. The fried rice is heavy on onions, to a fault. Every bite contains semi-crunchy onions which is unpleasant. The beef chow fun is a sad, soggy mess sitting in a layer of oil. Chow fun should have green onions - there is zero green in this dish. The beef quality is also rather low grade and tough. The slightly redeemable dish was the moo shu chicken when compared to the other 2 dishes I ordered.

I think it comes down to personal preference so this is not a dish I will be ordering again. The Mongolian beef had decent flavor but zero scallions. Mongolian beef should be thick slices of green onions so that was a disappointment. I also found the chicken fried rice super bland and boring. Next time I know to stick with white rice for the better option. Portion sizes are reasonably large where each dish can easily feed 2 people. I did appreciate that restaurant giving me a punch card after my first order. It's motivation to try other dishes as prices are reasonable. I'm willing to give this place another try before ruling it out.
