A takeout favorite. There's usually a long line if you want to dine in, but you do get a noodle refill (if you choose) if you dine in. My go to order is the shrimp, pork, chive dumplings and the Chinese hamburger. We've also tried the tomato egg noodles and beef noodle soup. Both are solid. I'd skip on the pork "pancake". It came deep fried even though it shows pan fried on the menu picture, and traditionally is not deep fried. They probably just wanted to cook it quickly. read more

The stir fried mince pork and hot chili oil splashed flavors were very similar - heavy spice and very garlicky. Couldn't really tell these two apart (or they were kinda premixed already when it came) so I ended up eating the two together, while keeping the tomato egg on the other side for a change of flavor. The knife cut noodles were fresh and bouncy. Some pieces were thicker and you can tell that it was actually fresh cut. Texture was good and not super starchy. 8.5/10 - I'd order this again! Others in my party tried the mala beef soup with potato noodle. I didn't try but was told that the soup had good mala flavor but was missing the depth of a good beef soup. I decided to order the spicy stir fried pork noodle with the knife cut noodles and they were amazing! The pork was extremely tender and the broth was super flavorful, but oily! They advertise free noodle refills, but with all the appetizers we had and the generous portion of noodles given, I was too stuffed to ask for more. Since there's always room for dessert, we tried the sesame balls and the coconut lava balls. The sesame balls were pretty standard, but the coconut lava balls were phenomenal! They were crispy, and had a great coconut filling that had small amounts of sago. Great place for noodles and dumplings! The restaurant gets busy on weekends but we got there just early enough to beat the crowd. We ordered several dishes including their housemade knife cut noodles. My favorite dish there was the spicy intestine noodles. The pepper beef chew mein was really good. The noodle refills are unlimited and only apply to the round noodles and knife cut noodles. This is a funny play of words if you know Chinese. The actual Chinese name means Li Noodle Please but phonetically it means "come inside." I do have to give points to the cleverness of the name especially if the owner does have Li as his last name. The place is advertising it's knife cut noodles which is actually my favorite type of noodles. However I'm taking 1 star away because it's not as chewy as it could be (the dough is not pressed as often as it should have been). The noodle places are getting more popular nowadays in the Bay Area so there are now more competition and honestly this place doesn't stand out enough (once again, work more on the noodles to make them more chewy). Other than that the noodles are fine. The prices are high but on par with NorCal prices. The location is small and service is so so (just what I expected). Came on a Sunday around 7 pm and there was a bit of a line and we waited about 20 mins to get seated. It is a bit small inside and we had a party of 7 so understandable that it took a while. We ordered Dan Dan Mein, Egg and Chive pancakes, Chinese burger, and the lamb noodle soup (forgot to snag a photo). Everyone loved the dishes and they offer free noodle refreshes, which is a great option. The noodles were chewy (qq) and very satisfying to eat. I love this spot so much that I questioned whether or not I would write a review. This is one of those places that you try once and then keep going back to over and over again. It's my favorite Chinese takeout spot in the Bay Area by far. I love the noodles and string beans, but I've also had the different green onion and chive pancakes as well as the cucumber salad. The inside is pretty small so the wait for a table can be long if you want to eat in. They have a tablet where you put your name down when you arrive and you get a text when your table is ready. Came to Li's Knife Cut Noodle and minus the initial interaction with staff, we enjoyed the experience. When we arrived, there were two tables ahead of us. After a few calls, we noticed they skipped our number and boyfriend asked. The waitress claimed that she called us (did not) and he retorted the claim. She then apologized and acknowledged that she didn't but she had already called another number. Fine. She then comes out again and calls another number that's not us. When we ask why she says it's because the table is for 4. Uhh...ok? When she comes out a third time, she skips us yet again and this time the family she calls tells her that we were first and yet she presses that it's because of the table size. DUDE. The name of the restaurant caught my eye a few months ago, and I finally made it back on a Saturday. It's a cozy space with fewer than 15 tables, so we waited about 30 minutes for a party of two. If you come here on a Saturday afternoon around 1:30 p.m., the line isn't too bad. There were three parties ahead of us, and we waited about 15 minutes before being greeted by the staff. You have to scan a QR code to order, but if you prefer, you can ask for a paper menu and place your order with a staff member. After we ordered, we were given these cute plastic cups and plates with adorable pictures on them. The two of us ordered the Braised Beef Noodle Soup, the Spicy Tendon and Marinated Beef, the Marinated Beef Pancake Roll, and an order of Pork and Napa Cabbage Dumplings. I was told the noodles are unlimited (as long as you don't share the bowl), so if you want unlimited noodles, you'll need to order your own bowl. Honestly, though, you probably won't need a refill because one bowl is more than enough for two people. My hubby couldn't even finish his bowl of braised beef noodles, and he's a big guy. Both appetizers were delicious! I just wish the Spicy Tendon and Marinated Beef had more beef and tendon and fewer sliced onions. I was at Hillsdale Mall and was looking for something to eat nearby when I found this restaurant on Yelp. It was only few minutes drive from Hilldale. Outside the restaurant, there's 2 hr street parking, but it can get crowded during lunch and dinner time. Once, seating inside the resturant, you scan a QR code to order online. The food came pretty quickly once ordered. Personally, I really like their noodles. However, their spiciness is not that spicy, their mala isn't mala either. I wish they can add more spicy and mala. Small restaurant with probably around 10 tables, mostly 2- and 4-tops, so it does fill up quickly. It is a popular spot and there is often a line, but the staff is efficient and the wait usually moves faster than expected. The food is consistently great. My go-tos are the Dan Dan noodles, chili oil noodles, spicy wontons, salt and pepper tofu, and chow mein noodles. If you are with a group, the beef noodle soup is almost always a crowd favorite. Always get the knife-cut flat noodles. They have the perfect bouncy texture and really make the dish. A little spot in South San Mateo that has become quite popular. There is a waitlist and servers will seat you according to the number of people in your party. The wait can get long especially since it's a little shop with small tables so think twice about bringing a group. The food was delicious and came out fairly quick. The braised beef noodle soup was a highlight with a delicious broth and tender pork. The Dan Dan noodle was numbing with a big kick of sesame and chili. Definitely a hit with the spice lovers. We got wide noodles for both and the noodles are chewy with a good bite. The appetizers all around look tasty. We ordered chili beef tendon and marinated beef app and love the taste with all the extra cilantro but liked the tendon a bit more. The weather has been so cold this week! We were craving for something soupy and warm. Everything here was delicious! We were blown away by the Mala Beef Potato Noodles! We did not expect it to taste that good! None of the dishes disappointed us! We saw a sign on the window saying free refills so we asked about it. Unfortunately we did not get free refills because we ordered a bunch of dishes to share but if you order your own bowl of noodles and are not full from it, they give you extra noodles! We've tried this place several times with friends and it's always busy. There isn't a lot of seating for how popular it is so busy times the wait was easily 30-45 minutes. My favorites are the string beans, potato noodle with beef/pork, and the beef pancake roll. The beef noodle soup is also good but not as good as like Ox Noodle. Great option in San Mateo for hand cut noodles! Stopped by here for lunch on a Saturday, and was able to grab a table before it filled up. Highlight of the trip was the extra tender beef was in the beef noodle soup! Soup flavor was on the lighter side, but solid. Hand cut noodles were solid too. The green onion pancake was reasonable, but nothing that amazed me.
