My 85 year old mother went twice to see Dr. Harris and both times he gave her the run-around and said he could not give her an injection. How odd is that? A pain management facility that won't give an injection to an 85 year old woman suffering from excruciating back pain. WTHeck? He gave two referrals and BOTH men said they do not do injections. I am so disappointed in the care for seniors. This is egregious with LACK OF CARE. Why is this happening? Is it not a big pay day or something? I am seriously wondering how care could be so bad? I went to the office the first time. They were not super helpful. They reduced all of my medications and offered an epidural. I declined the epidural and had a follow up scheduled. The day before the follow up, they left a message letting me know they had to cancel the appointment. I left 4 messages over a 5 week period trying to reschedule. I ran out of medication and had to call my GP to refill and manage the meds. Today (5 weeks later) they returns my call to schedule an appointment. I let them know I had called multiple times and left a message for the Medical Assistant. I let them know my GP is managing my meds now. They asked me what I needed to schedule for then. She was very rude. Under so circumstances can I recommend Dr. Alsharif or his office. read more

Everything was okay for a while, even though they kept changing my doctors all the time. When I found Dr. Kuo I thought everything would be okay but then, out of the blue, with no notice, he transferred me to Tommy Vingh, a PA. I met with him and told him that I was having a lot of problems with pain in my left groin. He didn't say much, if anything, about it. Then, one day, that groin pulled me to the floor and I ended in bed for weeks. It is that time that Tommy finally prescribed something for me. If Tommy had only listened to me and prescribed me the meds at the time I told him about this groin problem, I never would have fallen. Since then I walk with a cane and have a horrible time doing much of anything. One day last year Tommy called me and said there was nothing they could do for me and that my PCP would take care of my pain meds. I told him no. My PCP also said no. I tried calling Dr. Kuo over there many times. I finally was told that Dr. Kuo had contacted me and left a message. No, he did not. Then I tried to find, Kaylee, a girl who worked there who had helped me so much in the past. First they said she wasn't there. When I asked if she still worked there, they said no, she didn't. What were they trying to hide? The staff there is horrible. I have been with them for about six years and to have them do this to me it is inexcusable. They have completely lied to me. read more

Dr Pouradib saw me for years but decided to stop taking my insurance and didn't give me a heads up that I was being dropped from care. To make matters worse they did it right before the holidays and I told the PA I wouldn't be able to get a new Dr anytime soon. She said it wasn't her problem and they supposedly sent a letter, which to this day I've yet to receive. I was given only one month refill, when for the last 6 years it was always 3 months. This would have gotten me through the holidays and given me time to fiya new Dr. without running out if meds. Of course I ran out and could not get a refill. I know that this company is in it for the money more than the patient. It's sad when a Dr is only nice to you while he's getting paid and then will have nothing to do with you once the well runs dry. So beware if you decide to become a patient, have a fat checkbook because you're going to need it. FYI Dr Pouradib is an amazing Dr. He's just following Dr Harris' orders! read more

One of the most awful experiences I have had. After a month and a half of trying to get in with these people I actually switch medical groups all together. They kept telling me I was still a patient of another doctor, and that doctor would not release me so I could see Dr. Harris. Turns out that the two doctors know each other, and it was most likely being done intentionally. I had to cancel with the other doctor, Dr. Shabazian, because I had Covid symptoms and I was told the practice would no longer see me as it was my second cancellation. They told me had I come in, they would have rescheduled my appointment, but since I did it over the phone it was not. So I guess they didn't believe me. That being said I was then referred to Dr. Harris who shares an office with Dr. Shabazian. Absolutely this was being done intentionally. these people are absolutely horrific, the office staff is rude, nasty, extremely unhelpful. I guess they don't care, they take Medicare and workers comp, so I'm sure they're busy. No reason to make customers happy! Steer clear. I have reported them to the Department of Managed Healthcare, as well as Quality Control with my insurance company. They are for both for DELAY OF CARE AND LACK OF CARE. I was in constant pain after fracturing a vertebra in my lower back. I was referred to Dr. Kuo by my insurance company. After being treated by Dr. Kuo, I am now back to all the activities I had to give up because the pain I was in. Dr. Kuo is a very kind and caring man. His staff has a way of making you feel at ease. Terrible customer service from the call center. Reps are combative, rude, lazy and unorganized. I spent 2 hours on the phone jumping thru hoops with my neurosurgeons office as well as my physical therapist's office only to still be refused an appt. I spoke to a manager and was told I would receive a call back, I did not receive a call back. Instead the manager left a note in my chart rather than doing what she told me she was going to do which is call me back. I was put on hold for 15 minutes only to be told I will not be scheduled because they do not believe that I went to physical therapy. The rep either didn't no how or just didn't bother to check the referral portal. Which shows I have not one but two physical therapy referrals. The reps are dismissive, they cut you off while you're speaking and they have an overall nasty attitude. Belen has a very nasty attitude and she does everything to ensure you can not schedule an appt. If I could give zero stars I would. read more

Let's start by renaming the business painful in-management. I broke my thumb good, really good: compound fracture, completely broken in half with a bone fragment floating in my hand. I was refereed here by my orthopaedic doctor. i am in pain almost all the time. The front office couldn't find my insurance even tho I was covered. It took at least 5 calls, front office also did not call back. This happened over and over. So, I waited over a month to see the nurse practitioner. She refused to give medication because my injury didn't involve my neck or spine. Meanwhile, I sit in big time pain. You don't realise how much you use your thumb until you can't use it. I am a very positive person, but this doctor let me down. She is the Asian practitioner and she needs to work on not only sympathy working in a pain clinic, but also on her bedside manners. I will not be returning here, it's not only a waste of time, and doctors that are not kind or sympathetic to patients needs. read more

I called for a week and left multiple messages with no call back finally so sick of it and in so much pain I spent all morning calling. When they said they could not find my referral my primary doctor faxed it over again yet the front desk still could not find it, it was probably next to the phone they never pick up. They are rude and unhelpful. No one answers the phone I was put on hold twice and hung up on twice after calling all morning to even get through to anyone. I was so disappointed and put off by them that I would rather sit longer with my chronic pain then go to this unprofessional, uncaring, unhelpful and rude place. I'd have serious pain and don't want to wait a week to even talk to someone to schedule an appointment go else where. read more

I've been going to Dr. Alsharif for a couple years for severe physical pain on top of MS. He has a very nice, slick demeanor, and aims to charm his patients with facial expressions of great compassion and sympathy. But...he doesn't care at all and only wants to extract money from you. Once he walk out that door, your prescription may or may not be sent to the pharmacy. If he fails to send it right, then you have to call his horrible front desk ladies, who refuse any help other than saying, "we sent a message to the doctor" over and over again to every question. I have had to come off my opiate prescription multiple times because he can't send my prescription right no matter how I try to assist them in doing this. Coming off opiates while in severe physical pain, amplified by MS nerve damage, is hell, but they can't lift a finger to help. Then there are the injections. These are a total scam. The "plan for your recovery" is just a sentence of words they learned to say. I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, and later found out that I shouldn't get back injections like that because they degenerate the already weak tissue. But he was all for it, and of course it made the problem a little worse. It's the same for everyone though, steroid injections just make the problem worse by harming the tissue involved. These guys are nice and sweet, but deep down have the personality of people who sell stereos out of the back of their car. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Dennis Kuo since the beginning of 2020. He was the best doctor I could have been referred to. I don't understand the negativity of some people in their reviews of this office. I have never once had a problem with scheduling an appointment or getting my authorizations done. I have recently had to move to the San Luis Obispo area and I am surely going to miss the care and treatment I have had from Dr. Kuo and his assistants. I have been coming to Pain Management Associates for almost a year now. From the very start I knew this wouldn't be like every other one of my recent experiences with medical care professionals! A little background; I was in a terrible accident in June of 2017. I was dropped down a flight of stairs by EMS responding to a call about a seizure. Immediately I knew that one if not both of my ankles were broken. If only that's where my nightmare ended. I was indeed incapable of bearing weight on either ankle, and my right ankle was so severely broken that it had to be put back together with rods, a plate, and numerous pins. But that's not all, my neck and back were in so much pain, I had no relief. My experience with doctors was a disgrace to the medical industry. I had doctors who refused to see me, due to the fact that my injuries were the result of gross negligence. I finally found a medical group that would be willing to accept me as a new patient. Even they refused to take into my account of my extreme neck and back pain, I was told specifically to "worry about one thing at a time... I was beginning to feel hopeless! That's when Pain Management Associates came into the picture. They saved my life! The doctors are amazing and they actually listened to me, they believed me! I was immediately sent in for an MRI and a CatScan and the doctors work with me to create a plan for my recovery! Not only am I walking so much better, I actually feel like I'm making progress! I've come so far since my first appointment at Pain Management Associates, I've lost over 15 pounds, I swim and have been strengthening my core! But none of that would've been possible without the amazing dedicated staff here! I would recommend them to everyone! I didn't think I would ever be able to walk again without pain, but these wonderful people believed me, they heard me, and they helped me to start living again, they gave me hope!! This is a review for PA, Theresa DiFabrizio, ONLY Avoid PA Theresa DiFabrizio at all costs!!! Not only is she severely incompetent in the field she's practicing in, but her demeanor is condescending, aggressive, and incredibly rude. I had the misfortune of being referred to a doctor in a pain management office that DiFabrizio works in. Instead of getting an appointment with a doctor, they scheduled me with a physician's assistant that was not only incompetent but also had a superiority complex. She appeared to really relish the power trip she had over those reliant on her decisions. I generally don't have any reservations about seeing either PAs or NPs, but they have to be at the minimum adequately informed about the field they practice in. This was not the case with DiDabrizio. I've had two spinal surgeries, the last being a spinal fusion which rendered me in severe pain healing after surgery. I never asked for strong pain medication/or high doses at any time. I am not nor have I ever been an addict of any kind, nor did I objectively display any drug-seeking behavior to warrant the treatment I received from her. I was literally on a dose of Tylenol 3, that is so low that it wouldn't even alleviate a toothache. I asked to please have a slightly (honestly, it was a very small dose increase of 15mg more of Tylenol 3 a day), and she acted like I asked for black tar heroin. DiFabrizio proceeded to lecture me about her "concerns" (not so subtle insinuation about how she thought I was drug seeking) and how It's not necessary to increase my dose even though I was healing from a spinal fusion surgery). She finally relented and because she is so grossly intellectually incapacitated, she proceeded to give me a dose that was actually less than the dose I was already taking! After all of the BS I was put through. When I tried to explain basic math to her in relation to her new "increased" dosage, she was aggressively dismissive and would not even have the courtesy to listen to how this current dose is even less than the one she previously prescribed. This is all happened during a time of my in my life where I felt the most vulnerable. I was in severe pain and already felt powerless over my body's ability to function normally. Those feelings of powerlessness became magnified exponentially when seeing Theresa DiFabrizio. She made me feel completely voiceless and further removed from decisions regarding my own healthcare. Not only that but she attempted to shame me and acted as if she were the absolute authority over how much pain I was really in. If you are a patient reading this, then please try to see someone else. Literally anyone else is more informed and better suited to help you than DiFabrizio. If you are a potential employer of DiFabrizio reading this, then please hire someone else. I've noticed she jumps from office to office, which I strongly believe is due to a high number of patient complaints. I generally don't spend this much time writing reviews, but the impression she left on me was so strongly negative, that I feel compelled to warn others. read more

My boyfriend has been in severe pain for probably about 20 years ago, suffering from bad knees. He has gotten cortisol shots, had surgery, the whole nine and is still in consistent pain. The last two and a half to three years he has been working with Pain Management Associates, mainly the Anaheim office on La Palma. I saw complaints about Theresa DiFabrizio, but from what he said she was actually great with him. There was also a gal named Kristen? (he couldn't remember her name because they only worked with each other twice), who was so helpful and made sure that even though his refill date fell during a trip to Seattle for my nephew's wedding, that he would have the prescription split in two. He also suffers from chronic, high grade migraines, which usually have him end up in the ER at a 7 or 8 pain level. He is always up front with the medical staff that he is in pain management and he does not want a prescription, as it would violate his contract. He just simply needs help at that moment. He has been seeing a neurologist that has helped him get less migraines, overall, even though they still happen. Since end of November, about a week or so before Thanksgiving, he ended up in the ER for severe abdominal pain. He had low grade abdominal pain prior, but because he has a high pain tolerance with having to live with his knees and migraines, he just thought he tweaked his back or something. He was seen by a couple of doctors, but they didn't see anything wrong, really. Well, this night, he ended up having to be admitted to the hospital with severe pancreatitis. He had to stay for two nights. During the time he was hospitalized, the doctors and he called his pain management office to let them know what was going on an request the permission for them to prescribe him medication or to increase his dosage through them. The office agreed that the hospital could provide him with the prescription. They never upped his prescription, even though he has had to go to the ER about 5 or 6 times since, twice in the last week, and is actually currently on his way to the ER again, right now. He would call them and not get a call back for days, making him run out of medication over the weekend with no recourse. He faxed them the medical paperwork from the ER visits and follow up visits with his regular doctor, also showing that he has a referral for a gastroenterologist. He faxed these documents twice, as well. He called his office last Wednesday, left a message, faxed the documents that day, and expressed his fear that he would run out of medication this weekend. They assured him he would get a call back. Lillian is the PA he has talked to and has been working with him the last two times he has had to call. She does not know him. She has not worked with him long at all, so she does not understand how frantic he is and how much pain he has been through during this whole experience. He is trying to eat better, see the appropriate doctor, and make changes to fight this pancreatitis. But he has to wait for the appointment with the gastroenterologist. Until then, he just needs help. You want to know what this woman did? She fired him. She was not the one who dealt with the hospital when he was admitted, she is the one who has not called him back (granted, he left a bit of a spicy voicemail Friday night, due to his pain, frustration, and anxiety), and will not actually talk to him. Instead, she makes the assistant tell him she "will no longer fill his prescriptions because he 'violated' his contract." Are you kidding me? He has been following the rules of this office for years. He does not abuse the medication, made sure to contact the office every step of the way through this journey. No joke, I believe she fired him because she was just tired of and annoyed by him. When people are in pain and getting no help or response, they tend to start calling more often. Society has taught us the squeaky wheel gets the oil. He is at a 8 right now because of this pancreatitis. And she could have helped. Instead, she blew him off and seemingly kicked him out of the program. I really, truly hope this is a misunderstanding, and I'm happy to change my review accordingly if it is, but Lillian, you earned your office one star instead of 4 (the four is really only because there have been minor issues along the way, but four is a very healthy rating). I apologize for the novel, but I feel like people really need the whole story to understand how ridiculous this decision was and how cruel it is to not take someone into account when they are doing everything they possibly can to abide by the contract and survive life in constant, unending pain. Lastly, my boyfriend is an EMT. He is less likely to abuse medications because he has seen first hand what that can do to people and the what drug seekers become. If you talked to any of the hospital/ER/EMT staff he has been treated by and/or worked with, they would say what a stand-up guy he is. read more

My referral was to see a doctor when in fact I am not. I am in a lot of pain and I really want help. I was so excited to go to my appointment and maybe get some real advice. I have been treated by Dr. Pouradib and his fabulous staff for about 12 years. I travel from Riverside to see him in his Laguna Hills office because the care I receive from him and the level of professionalism I get from Erika, Noemi, Brooke, Mira, Sarah and Kyli is second to none. They ALWAYS, return my call when I leave a message for Dr. Pouradib, my prescriptions are refilled when I give them the time to do it. They are always happy to help, when they can, it's miserable to constantly be in pain, and I'm sure they get snapped at more than their fair share of the time. Scheduling an appointment in the Anaheim office could be chaotic, I understand the young lady's are swamped with phone calls nonstop. I've been coming here since February 2016 for my lumbar spine injury. The doctors are great staff is nice BUT YOUR AT THERE MERCY I've been trying to get my medical records since 2016 to my doctors office or to my insurence who sent the the office a letter as well. I know Dr. Cruz asked the front desk for help on sending my info to my primary doctor, because they won't release the records to me, email or mail me a medical copy. That's been the hardest toughest challenge. Trying to get my medical reports. It's been a burden on me to get this to my attorneys. Over all the doctors are great staff is nice BUT I GET THE RUN AROUND . It's trying to get my medical papers. Its. July 17, 2017. I been trying since February 2016. I have some disabilities that limit my mobility, it's hard on me to continue to ask and drive to the location. I don't know why it's always held up or I AM GIVEN A STORY WHERE MY PRIMARY DOCTOR NEEDS TO REQUEST THEM. I never did any thing but ask for help. So again I will ask can I have my medical reports and please fax or send them to my primary doctors........office and also mail me a copy or email me please. Update: IF you get on their bad side they WILL hold your records hostage. Doctors office ordered records on 4-24-17 and nothing as of yet its 7-1-17. Also, I have a voicemail with doctor requesting that I remove post on yelp due to my receiving care from them (their job) but did not ever mention what action was going to be taken on "Lupe". Between my records being held hostage and the voicemail... medical board will be notified. Just so wrong. Notice that there are favorable reviews AFTER I posted my unfavorable review. Fake profiles are the only way they can get the reviews up but the stars haven't budged. I am glad to now have an amazing office staff that is professional and on top of things that protect their patients and not their uneducated staff. I have a few friends and family that have continued to go until recently when they try to get their refills they make them feel like addicts. It's pain management. She was on point and knew what she was doing. Always polite and always had a clue. Sad that she's gone and now I may have to look for another doctor. Cannot let these types of mishaps be repeated. My mother is deaf, I have a device on her phone that alerts me where she's at and due to the weather they were two accidents on the 91 freeway.
