I have been dealing with workman's comp insurance for the past 8 years so I consider myself to be almost a veteran of frustrating medical scenarios. To be frank, the experience I had recently with HealthPointe takes the cake. I needed an ENT consult for an upcoming spinal surgery that I need. I made an appointment for 12/23 and arrived to my appointment 45 minutes early, as instructed. The office is almost one hour away from my house and it happened to be raining that morning. When I arrived at the clinic, I was told that they called me the night before at 5pm (I checked and didn't have any missed calls) and left me a voicemail (I had no voicemails) because the doctor wouldn't be able to see me until 3 and a half hours later, that afternoon. I had to reschedule my appointment due to the fact that it was the day before Christmas Eve and I had family coming into town (and I live about an hour away). I rescheduled my appointment for the following week, on 12/30. The office staff gave me all of my paperwork to take with me and assured me that I could arrive at my appointment time (10:15 am) and would be seen right away. I arrived at 10:00 on 12/30 with all of my paperwork completed, and wasn't called back into a room until it was 11:50 (so, almost a 2 hour wait). I complained to the office staff at 11:30 who told me that I was "up next" (after hearing them say the same thing to all of the other frustrated patients who were waiting). Once I got into my room, things got even worse. The ENT finally came in to see me at around 12:30. He told me we would need to go into another room so he could turn off the lights and put a microscope in my throat to look at my vocal cords. Once we got into the other room, he plugged the machine into three different outlets and decided it wasn't working. He told me that my appointment would need to be rescheduled (again). I complained that I had already waited 2.5 hours by this point, so he started asking his medical staff to find him a flashlight. They procured one, seemingly from a first aid or emergency kit, and he attempted to perform the examination with an assistant holding a cheap looking flashlight next to his face and no specialized equipment of any kind. To make matters even worse, when I was finally ready to leave, I was asked if I wanted to wait for the "report." I was extremely frustrated (by this point I had been there for about 3 hours for a "procedure" that took about 3 minutes..) and asked if it could be emailed to me. The office staff said of course, and that they would email it to me and the referring doctor right away. Unsurprisingly, it took 4 phone calls and a voicemail (across 5 days) to finally get a copy of the report sent to my doctor. Needless to say, I wouldn't even recommend HealthPointe to my worst enemy. Three appointments for an EKG Stress Test, "the only tech that does it called in sick", "sorry we have to cancel as we do not have all the codes" (only had two months to get them), "you have an appointment today, sorry our systems are down". Well thank you very much for 45 minute scenic drive to your office. No thoughts or initiative to go that extra mile and resolve issues, just let the patient suffer a little longer and reschedule. This review is for physical therapy, acupuncturist and receptionist Kimberly! After an accident I had, I started attending this location for physical therapy and ended up switching to Garden Grove. Although staff was nice, I come from an athletic background, so my body was adapting to the therapy fast but the pain wasn't going away. Even after I expressed my concerns, I was still only assigned a few little stretches and the electric massage stickers. After 6 sessions there (out of 12), with no improvement, I had to switch. Garden Grove was a better office for what I needed. However, the acupuncturist and front desk staff were stellar! Always was greeted kindly and the Dr. always heard my concerns and points in my body that I needed her to work on and check out! Felt big improvement after attending acupuncture! read more

Where do I even start? This place is a disaster. If you ha e a work related injury you're stuck going to medical mills like this. The state of California sold its citizens out with worker's compensation legislation and were stuck with low-budget, poor care like Healthpointe. They can treat us like dirt bc they know we're stuck. No one would go here if we had a choice. I just had surgery with a Healthpointe affiliated doctor. Let me tell you my story: I haven't even seen my surgeon. Why? Because he didn't show up to see his patients today. I didn't see him at my first post op appointment either bc he wasn't there that day. So I'm 8 days post op, no doctor evaluating my progress and care. My appointment was at 3:15. I left after 5pm. He hadn't even shown up yet. They sent in a PA To tell my my incision wasn't infected. Seriously ZERO eval by the surgeon. They sent an Ma/X-ray tech to take out my stitches. He walks in the room with another person and says hey this is Carlos, then starts laughing. I'm sorry, what's funny? Who's Carlos and why is he here? Is this a medical office? Or... The same MA was mocking me in the hallway to his coworkers. Yes, idiot, I heard you. The dressing from my surgery came off. It's over my elbow. Ya know, a bent body part. He was talking s$it saying I must be some crazy woman and wtf did I do to make it come off. Then they lAughed and guessed at how crazy I was. Also, they never submitted the prescriptions they wrote to my insurance for authorization. That means I had surgery and NO PAIN MEDS! Insurance has 5 days to approve all meds. They know this! They never sent it so I had to pay cash out of my own pocket, $70. I need a second RX after my follow up visit. I brought up the RFA issue. I waited a few days to fill it as I wanted to make sure it was aporoved and I wasn't fully out yet. I contacted my adjuster to check the RX status. Once again, they never sent it!! She created an RFA for me when I texted her a photo of the RX. However, it didn't get approved before I was completely out of pain meds. Had to pay out of pocket AGAIN!! Over $100 at this point. In addition, my doctor never even ordered a preop health assessment. I had to call and ask if I needed one bc normally you do. Then I had to scramble and miss tons of work and drive all over for blood work, etc so it was done on time. The week before my surgery I never saw my surgeon either. Why? Because after two hours of waiting he hadn't even shown up for work yet!! To add insult to injury, they make you sit and wait 20-30 minutes after just to schedule your follow up appointment! Like WHAT are you doing? Today it was the front desk girl herself. She legit sitting there doing NOTHING. I raised my concerns about my RFA and sitting around. She couldn't have cared less. She didn't even bother to look up whether the RFA was sent. So now I'm coming back in two more weeks. Maybe he'll show up? I mean it's a month post op by then. I'm an outspoken woman. I demand answers. I can advocate for myself. So many people who are sent here can't or don't know how. How many people have extra hundreds of dollars lying around to pay for prescriptions? Those people probably just suffered through the pain bc Healthpointe screwed them! This place should be shut down. It's a total sham. read more

I had a surgery Rotator cuff surgery in HealthPoint Clinic in Anaheim California. The surgery went well, but the best part of my recovery is working with group of outstanding Physical Therapist. Joe Manabat, is my therapist. Mr., Joe is super knowledgeable about his field. He is very detail oriented, and take his time to explain every exercise, he is like that with other patient too. Update: Mickie the office manager called me earlier today to hear "my side" of the story and said that she takes these sorts of complaints very seriously. That instilled a tint bit of confidence. Well... Let's add this fun tidbit of information to the pile. I went to drop off the prescription Dr. Smith wrote yesterday. My regular pharmacy told me that he isn't authorized to write the prescription. And then noticed that the prescription also want dated! I actually asked "is this guy even a real doctor?" Called the clinic and they said that his DEA number changed and that they would call the pharmacy. Jaime (from Heathpointe) called me back and said to go back and it should be fine. Nope. Why would it be? That's illegal. So she called me again and told me to go to the La Mirada location tomorrow to "get it dated". Still illegal. I call the la Mirada location... Just to make sure that someone, in fact, called them. The lady on the phone told me "we don't have that doctor here and can't help you"... Then another gentlemen got on the phone and said he would call me when it was ready because they had to wait for a doctor to come in to write a new prescription. Never in my life have I ever dealt with something like this. Ever. __________________________________ Nightmare staff! Dr. Chuang (orthopedic) and Dr. Allen (neuro) are great... They both deserve five stars. But the staff, Dr. Smith and some of the front desk people are the reason I give this place one star. If you have insurance and half a brain... Go somewhere else. I needed to be seen fast because I need surgery on my leg. I think the X-ray staff were being trained that day because the guy was fumbling with the equipment like he'd never seen it before. They also waited until AFTER the X-ray to have me sign a waiver. I even said "maybe you should have had me sign this before the scan,huh?" and I had to remind them to remove the lead belt as I was leaving. Ugh! During the pre-op appointment paperwork they sent what I thought was a nurse (she ended up being an interpreter in gray scrubs! I found this out later when I asked her name so I could write a formal complaint about her) into my room to scream over me. She didn't listen to my questions about the medication I'm taking (and what I should do before surgery) she just kept yelling "TYLENOL". EVENTUALLY they brought Dr. Smith (whom I do not recommend! He has very very poor communication skills) back in... and he answered the questions I had (albeit poorly). Dr Smith fails to ask direct clear questions (which is par for the course at this place). If you enjoy being treated like scum and getting medical advice screamed at you by an interpreter masquerading as a nurse... Enjoy! If you are seeking organized quality medical care... Don't settle for a place with printouts tapes to the walls (that had damage/holes) and vinyl lettering on the window advertising what they do there. It's a small step above the free clinic system... And a step below a strip mall doctor's office. I got the distinct impression that this is where the C and D medical students come to work. I am so thankful that I won't need to come here again! I'm doing my followup at another location and plan to do my physical therapy elsewhere as well. read more

Whats not to say about this place. its been a frustrating road for everyone trying to rehabilitate my knee after an unfortunate work injury. Still a work in progress. But i have to say, my Physical Therapist Joe has given 100%, to try to get me back to the work force. : ) Everyone there at Anaheim Healthpointe, from check- in to check- out are super awesome! This location may be busy, but they are super efficient, and the facility is always spotless. Front office girls have a great check out system! The Medical assistants downstairs are always really great too, always a great attitude. They are all really nice and caring, I'm grateful for all of Joe's help. Absolutely no respect for anyone's time, and when you complain about how long you have waited you get met with a blank stare. No apology or explanation is ever offered. They constantly run 1-2 hours behind and expect you to cool your heels until they feel like seeing you. While there may be an emergency here or there I find it hard to believe there is one EVERY time I have to come here. If they are running behind they should call you and let you know, or at least let you know at check in so you can do something else and not waste your time. read more

My advice, check-in, go run errands for an hour and a half and come back. If your name isn't called by then, re-schedule or don't come back. Waiting room plays a national geographic video. It's cool the first two visits, but by the third visit I was reciting the narrators commentary in my head. I learned a lot about flying fish, labeo fish, and which camping gear stands the extreme test of 89 mph winds, etc. If you have a choice, don't use healthpointe. Worse experience ever! I asked to make an appointment for a drug test and the girl wouldn't give me one over the phone. She kept saying it's walk in and the wait is about 15 mins. I waited for almost 1hr!!! On top of that, they ended up losing my sample (along with 2 of my coworkers)...can't fathom how a lab can lose 3 samples. I went here because it was the closest lab near my house. I now need to redo my drug test but needless to say I will NOT BE COMING BACK here! I would recommend everyone to go elsewhere also. I heard myself talk to her and she would only say hello after I stopped talking. What? I came to see a doctor here because my knee hurt. Ended up getting surgery and the doctor gave me Tylenol for my pain. I had such a hard time getting my appointments, my paper work for disability took almost two months. I ended up having a knee problem again and I could cry of how much pain I was in and the doctor still would argue that he wants and MRI and everything but something to help with the pain. Just problems all around wouldn't recommend this place for anything find a better place I advise. I understand adult males are supposed to with stand pain but this is ridiculous at least help. read more

Went in today with my boyfriend for his appointment with Dr. Stanley Katz. I am beyond furious at the response we got. First off, my boyfriend asked the tech if this would be a more comprehensive exam and he told him yes, it would be a deeper evaluation. Whatever that means. My boyfriend thought he would be getting an xray, cat scan, something that would help him get rid of the pain in his shoulder. Then doctor comes in and asks my boyfriend if he still has the same job, what does it entail, etc. He then has him stand up to evaluate his shoulder by lifting his arm in different directions. He sits back down and says the same thing he said a year ago - he has inflammation. Mind you, the very first time he got an MRI, they told him he had a tear in his shoulder and may or may not need surgery. They never decided on it and told him to wait. Fast forward these two times and still the pain is there. I asked the doctor "If it's just inflammation, why does it still hurt so badly even after all this time?" He says "Well he needs to not lift anything heavy and his job requires that." "No, he works in an office and when he is out on the field, he doesn't lift anything heavy." He continues saying "If it's causing pain, I suggest you start taking over the counter medications at least. Take them every day." Again, I find this vague and ask "For how long until the inflammation goes away?" "Well, it may never go away." "So then how long would he need to take the pills?" "Forever." "Forever? You're telling me that he should be taking Tylenol, Advil, Aleve, every day for the rest of his life?? That will kill him!" "Not necessarily. I've been telling my patients for so many years to do this and no one has died yet. You may know of a case like that, but I don't." Uh yeah. Key word being yet. I continue to say "Taking a pill every day for the rest of his life will ruin his liver!" "Again, I know people whose livers have not been affected." Then my boyfriend says he is confused because a while back they told him he had a tear in the shoulder and now it's just inflammation to which doctor responds "Well I don't know who said that, but I only see inflammation." Obviously we're getting two different stories so I ask "Are you sure there's no other test he can get besides the MRI?" You could tell he was annoyed and responded very sarcastically "Yes, I'm sure." Then he goes on to say that the MRI isn't very accurate and that every doctor is entitled to a different opinion and that another doctor might want a cat scan, xray, surgery, etc. Wait a minute, but didn't you JUST tell me there was no other test possible? Didn't you JUST say that the MRI was clear in showing just inflammation? So now it's not accurate? So which one is it? What's not accurate to me is how this person is a doctor. What kind of doctor tells his patients to take painkillers every day for the rest of their lives? This is not my boyfriend's regular doctor. His lawyer assigned him there for insurance purposes. Perhaps this doctor is used to dealing with low income people or he thought he was talking to some ignorant people who don't think or have a brain, but he was very mistaken with me. The fact that he made the liver seem like nothing can affect it when it is common sense that every adult should know it CAN and WILL be affected, is beyond comprehensible. If this is your regular doctor, I suggest you run for the hills. He is useless. How is he even allowed a medical license? And no, I was not exaggerating. No, I was not hearing wrong. My boyfriend is my witness. I can't believe I even had to make those questions to a "doctor." There are a lot of idiotic doctors out there, but this one takes the cake. I can't believe there are people with worse problems whose lives are in his hands. RUN! read more

I had 12 PT sessions at this Healthpointe location for a C-spine and shoulder injury. The initial evaluation was conducted by a physiotherapist named Annette. She was friendly, thorough and knowledgeable. She answered all my questions and asked me the right questions to determine the best course of action. She also explained the short and long term goals which I felt were extremely helpful. The majority of my PT sessions going forward were under the care of another physiotherapist named Joe. He too was very knowledgeable, friendly and thorough. He explained and demonstrated each exercise and made sure I was doing them correctly. He answered all my detailed questions about the different therapeutic aids he was employing. I never felt confused during any of my sessions. I always felt I was in good hands because my treatment plan was clear and the therapy was very helpful. From my experience, every one I observed working at this clinic is friendly, helpful and professional. The receptionist was warm and friendly and would always use my first name which was a nice touch. I would highly recommend this location for any of your PT needs! read more

They will reschedule ALL your appointments because they "over book" at first I was patient with them but after the 4th reschedule I had no compassion for them. If the ortho is too busy to see all his appointments then your appointment becomes an appointment with the ortho's PAC. read more

All the time I have made an appointment here to see my Orthopedic, I never had to wait long. Usuallly I would come here on a Tuesday late afternoon. The staff is friendly. But there was one time when I came in for my appointment and the doctor cancel on me. The staff didn't even give me a call to let me know. I drove all the way from Irvine. It would of been nice if they gave me a call not to come in and to reschedule. My doctor, I believe his name is Dr. Chang, examined my knee and told me to get a MRI on my 2nd visit back to him since my knee didn't get any better. read more
