I was more impressed than usual. They quality of food REALLY stepped up. The mozzarella sticks seemed homemade with the nice breading and size of them. The turkey in the club seemed fresh carved and thicck. Crispy bacon in it too. Very pleased with the coleslaw. The beef barley soup also seemed homemade with how the veggies were chunky but not mushy. The girl taking the order was very patient and considerate. Fast, friendly service, good food, and great prices. Walked in on a Sunday morning, got sat right away. Ordered breakfast and it came out quick! And just like we asked, dry toast, home fries and omelets well done. And it was yummy too. We will definitely return. read more

Went in Sunday around noon. No wait. I was with a party of 3 but I can only remember what I got. I got the opposite of the Big Al. But on the menu it says 2 French toast. Which are great because their on challah bread. The eggs was made scrambled but maybe undercooked. Still tasted a lil runny. On the menu it says sausage and bacon on the platter but if you get a sausage you don't get bacon. My waiter was great. She made sure we were good. Overall. The food was not bad however I got a plate that was dirty for my second plate. I told the waitress and she told me it was just the crumbs from the fries. The fries were on a totally separate plate so the second place she brought me should not have been dirty. I asked for a refill on my water with another lemon and I got no lemon. She about snatched the glass out of my hand. She was very rude. I asked her reinstruct and she brought it to me and I had a very funny smell so I did not use it and when I went up to pay my check, the guy asked me how everything was and I told him and he acted like he did not care. This place is never busy anymore. It used to be a good restaurant I will never come here again. There's very few people in there. Now I know why the other diners that I pay such as victory are always packed. This place does not care about you only your money stay away. The waitresses were just sitting around while the boost were dirty with food on them, even though they were clean there was food on the seats of the other booth. This is quite a shame. read more

I think the last time I was here was pre-Yelp! Say it isn't so! (I can't picture not snapping pix of my food!) This is a really good diner. I had a staple - roast turkey. Yum! Lobster bisque was the soup, and it was tremendous. The garden salad was meh - junky light iceberg lettuce and the tomatoes weren't good yet. My only negative. Our server was extremely nice. The next time we go back may be to see a band - they remodeled the back for live music! There's also an adorable outdoor seating area with umbrellas. read more

It has been explained by people who know better this is not a legit diner because they're not open 24/7. However, this is a great restaurant. There is ample parking, the waitress was very accommodating, and the chef was fantastic. He stayed until a late coming large group was served, and the food was delicious. We do not recommend the pasta and meatballs dinner. There are no words to describe just how awful this dish looked & tasted. Frozen unseasoned, most likely packaged meatballs in a heavy acidly sauce that was definitely not fresh. And what pasta dish comes without bread. Yep, no bread basket at this diner. While the waitress was friendly & oddly entertaining, she did forewarn hubby that this was not her favorite choice. He should have followed her lead. So glad I did not order anything! read more

This review is more so for *Baja Beach* Found this place thru an IG ad. It was hard to find info on this place and now I know it's because it's an extension of the Palace Diner. We moved away from Philly / SJ about seven years ago and miss diners and 'Philly food' a lot. There are just some things you can't get in Florida. We were in the area on family business and popped in for breakfast. Within seconds of being seated,​ a server was at our table to get drinks. There's just something about good, strong, hot diner coffee. SCRAPPLE! Thick cut, crunchy on the outside, creamy on the inside, perfectly seasoned. Exactly what we came for. Breakfast included scrambled eggs, hash browns and rye toast (good rye bread is hard to find in St Pete too). It's a huge stretch giving this dinosaur one star but things have only gotten worse since 3 years ago which was our last visit. The service is the worst we've had and the food/food prep is horrible. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato and onion on the side. The burger came out medium when I requested well done. The bun was so light that just picking up the burger flattened it to paper thin. The bacon was like eating paper. It looked good but there was no taste! The tomato slices were over a quarter inch thick as was the onions. The bun couldn't handle the burger let alone slab style tomatoes and onions. I just put everything off to the side and had the fries. Server walks by grabs plate and doesn't bother asking if anything is wrong or if I wanted a box. With an entire burger sitting on a plate you would think the server might be curious if I needed a box or if something was wrong.....but she was probably used to it and already knew the food was garbage. Please save your self the aggravation and cost, support another local business that cares and enjoy your food because none of that will happen at the Palace Diner. Side note, tons of food on floor under table and two workers arguing over clean glasses. read more

I have been eating at the Palace Diner since I was about three years old. It was always our go-to stop on the way to the shore, and it was my landmark that we were about halfway there. Over the years it hasn't changed much in terms of decor. You can still get a sold scrapple and eggs plate here, and you can rely on it being open all the time, no matter what. But I have to say it isn't the most enjoyable diner experience anymore and is generally not my first choice. On our last trip here, our waiter seemed really bored and unhappy to be at work. He let our drink glasses run dry and I was quite annoyed to see him start making the milkshake we'd ordered a good 10 minutes after we ordered it. They were not busy, and it just seemed like he was really lazy. It took us another 10 minutes after we were done dining to get a check so that we could leave. To be honest, I would have given this two stars just based on our last experience. But I have a lot of personal investment in this diner and know how it used to be. Wishing that it will return to those standards that I remember. read more

Giving 4 stars because I did take out so can't really review anything except the food. And O M G the disco fries!!!! They are AMAZING. I'm from North NJ and disco fries are my go to pig out food. Since I've moved to Marlton, I haven't been able to find good disco fries, the diner closest to me doesn't even have mozzarella cheese (like at all) (???). Anyway, it's just French fries, brown gravy, and mozzarella cheese but since there's only 3 ingredients each one is very important. They were delicious, highly recommend! read more

I went this past Thursday just past 12 pm, so it wasn't too busy. Ordered the Eggs Benedict and Corned Beef Hash (both were good!). The potatoes that came with it were just ok...they definitely needed more seasoning as adding salt & pepper just wasn't enough. The waitress was pleasant and attentive and made sure I had enough refills on coffee. They make a really good cup of joe! LOL! Glad the waitress gave me her honest opinion about the calamari that I going to order to eat later. She said it was just ok, so I passed on ordering it! The diner itself was clean as were the table, plates, silverware, and cups, so no complaints about any of that stuff. It may not be the hippest or coolest diner in town and it's sort of retro without intending to be. I plan on coming back since I don't need a swanky diner, just good food...and with the exception of the side of potatoes that just needed a bit more seasoning...Palace Diner does a good job! read more

We go here all the time and used to be good. 2 weeks ago, and again tonight though, there has been a major change. They just jacked their price up about 40%, which I understand inflation is bad right now and businesses are struggling, but the problem is they dropped their quality WAY down. I often order chicken tenders which were great, but they've been replaced by not just something a little less expensive, but rather banquet brand poor quality. They used to give 6 and only give 5 now. My hubby loves their Turkey dinner. Tonight it had 2 small pieces of real Turkey on top, but hidden underneath was hidden all Turkey lunch meat instead. Obviously deliberate since it was hidden underneath. Shame, we used to order take out about once every 10 days, but now we will never go back. read more

Never in my life have I had such a terrible dining experience, worst part is we didn't even get to try the food!! Right as our waitress served us our drinks, she asked "do you guys know how this works? Like how serving works? Have you been servers before?" With a major aggressive attitude, confused my friends and I looked at each other and replied with yes we were all servers she continued,"so I have other tables and you guys are the biggest table I have so things are going to take a while to get out to you" still confused we nodded and said of course we understand, even though she only had two 2 tops and us only 4 people, we hadn't complained the whole time we were there she continued "I heard what you guys said" taken aback we looked to each other again so confused she said again "Yeah I heard what you said me and the drinks" at this point her aggression was overwhelming and made us all super uncomfortable it took us a minute to realize that our server was evesdropping into our conversation from earlier and heard my friend say that when she servers she'd take large drink order out in two trips because she can't balance too many drinks on one tray, literally flabbergasted at this point we all told her that we hadn't complained about her or to her, you could have cut the tension with a knife, 40 minutes into our dining experience she dropped off our drinks and we immediately left, we should have asked for the manager right there and then but were all in such shock we just went up to the cashier explained the situation and asked to cancel our order and pay for the drinks that we never drank, the cashier is the real hero of this story she was taken aback when we told her what happened but she was so understanding. I've been a server for 6 years and even been in restaurant manager before and if I ever did anything even close to that I would have been fired on the spot and if the management here is smart they'd do the same. read more

I am sorry to say I was not impressed with this diner. Before the pandemic we would eat there all the time and The food was alway plentiful and good. Tonight we went and I had a Rubin which was good but the fries were tasteless. My grandson had chicken fingers that he didn't like. They were too crisp and he didn't touch his fries at all. I'm not ever sure where to begin other than stating the waitress who had us should be fired on the spot. She was so unbelievably rude that my entire table got up and left, because we were so uncomfortable. There were a total of 4 of us at this table, and it was around 11:30 yesterday morning. We were sat immediately, but waited about 15 minutes or so before our waiter even made her way to the table. She took our drink and food order all at once because we had plenty of time to look at the menus. Then the four of us at the table we talking about how we don't miss serving at all, since the four of us have done it for years ourselves. We are all 26, and know how hard customer service can be and were just chatting about how we would never do it again. While chatting we noticed our waitress was grabbing all 8 drinks at once for our table, one of us said "I would do two trips, just because I know I couldn't balance all 8 drinks at once.", then when our waitress came back to the table with the drinks she said, "Do you know how it works here? Like are you guys servers?" We responded yes with smiles, but the smiles quickly were dropped from our faces, because our waitress began to say "listen, I heard what you said and you should know better. I have three tables and you're my biggest one. I'm super busy and things are going to take time to get to you. So please if you have a problem keep it to yourself." We were literally shocked/speechless because we didn't understand where that came from. She proceed to speak to us in rude manner while dropping the drinks off at the table. We immediately got up after she walked away, and told the cashier how uncomfortable we were and that we would never come here again because of how rude the staff is. The cashier was beyond shocked at this whole situation and didn't charge for the drinks that were not touched. Cashier was a true gem. All I know is that if I was still serving and was blatantly rude to the customers I would have been fired on the spot. Hopefully management at this dinner feels the same way. read more

Went there for breakfast and a simple meal like a western omelette and home fries was completely undercooked. The omelette was slimy and gross with patches of uncooked egg whites, the home fries were barely cooked and not browned at all and the peppers and onions were completely raw in my food. Even the toast was lousy...they couldn't even butter it correctly. On top of that, it was $30 for 2 sub-par breakfasts!! They were getting slammed so service wasn't the best. The server was very slow to take our order and then never came back to check on us til the very end when she finally refilled our coffees but by then we were so done with our food. The quality of the food and the service has dropped significantly...I don't know what happened to this diner bc it used to be good. I don't recommend going there anymore, esp on a weekend. Hubby and I went out of our way to return to the diner. Unfortunately, they had changed their menu, and the breakfast burrito was no longer available. Instead, I ordered the Spanish omelette. I asked for my home fries to be well done, and the server informed me that they are not able to do that on Sundays. She offered to have them fried. I declined. When I received my omelette, the the eggs were not cooked (and no, I didn't have cheese). I asked the waitress to just finish cooking it in the microwave. She returned it to me, and it was fine. I think the omelette was downsized, and, since the potatoes had no brown on them at all, I left there hungry. I am definitely not in a hurry to return. This experience was not a good one. I can't wrap my head around the fact that they could not cook the potatoes as I had requested. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Ordered a corned beef Ruben and reminded the waitress that is open faced. Well when she returned after 20 minutes she let me know that the lowlife that cooks here said that isn't how they do it around here. Meanwhile the person that I'm having lunch with ordered a pastrami Ruben and it came out correct. I asked the waitress to get the manager and when I told him what the waitress said he was just like okay that kind of behavior is allowed here and offered to get the cook to make a new one I passed due to not having a cook that doesn't follow directions to get a chance to"improve" the flavor. Our first clue is SHE DIDN'T WRITE ANYTHING DOWN. For the place being pretty empty and 2 breakfast orders took a LONG TIME to arrive...SURPRISE, the Rocket Scientist/part-time waitress got both orders WRONG AND FOOD WAS COLD...we left, won't be back!! We went here at 2am on technically a Sunday morning... the service was mediocre at best and two of my friends' dishes were mediocre at best which reflects in my rating. I got a grilled cheese and french fries which was delicious. However, while ordering... my friend got the sampler platter and while ordering, I asked her if I could have a mozzarella stick... apparently, the server who didn't speak great english but he thought I wanted to order mozzarella sticks so I had an app for nothing. The sampler platter was disgusting and too fried. My other friend got the creamed chipped beef and it was bland and disgusting. The boyfriend got two sandwiches and both were decent. My favorite was the pork roll egg and cheese. Really disappointing visit here since we know a lot of people who love this dinner. read more

I don't recommend ordering take out from here. I have ordered 3 times from them and they always forget part of my order or prepare it wrong. They usually like to blame the driver or even you for not grabbing everything. Very frustrating. Overall, I would not recommend this place to anyone unless you're looking to make your day sad. I was all about The Palace Diner a few years ago on a few trips out to New Jersey that I made. My very last trip there left me over it for a while... there was a hair in my food and the service was not good or friendly at all. But in general, for the few years I did go there on my quick Jersey trips, I enjoyed the diner very much! We dont have REAL diners here in Southern California, so it was a treat for me :) read more
