Hi we just ate breakfast at the Palace Diner. We stood at the front door for five minutes waiting for someone to sit us at the booth. We placed our order for cream chipped beef and poached eggs and both were underwhelming. Lastly we waited for our bill. We were over charged breakfast. First things first we walked in there was no host or hostess, so we did not know how we were to be seated . Second there was no silverware on the table when we got silverware it was dirty the spoon was covered in something we had to send silverware back. This was before we even ordered. . So glad they reopened after the initial Covid outbreak. We have been ordering from them regularly. I have an Italian family so Italian food is always a discussion. I will tell you that this diner is a gem. I tried their seafood fra diavolo over pasta. So much fresh seafood!! I couldn't believe it ! And the price was unbelievable. Back in the saddle I don t know if there are new owners or not but, food has improved greatly. When it went from Pallas to the original new owner food went downhill. Last three visits were excellent. The very best veal parmigiana sandwich ever. We were there last week and they had specials for lunch for less than 9.00. I allowed my grand daughter to order off the adult menu because she has been eating so well. She ordered the tuna special. Delicious and packed. French fries, soup, dessert and beverage included. At that price it is worth it to eat out every day. My other grand daughter had chicken noodle soup which was yum! I had the homemade clam chowder which was delicious. Fresh and well seasoned. I had the fish and chips. I am very picky about fish and chips. Some places do not use fresh oil. The fish and fries were done perfect. Four pieces. Enough to take home half. As far as fries are concerned excellent. Highly recommend. Breakfast is great and the Greek salad always fresh. Giving five stars as a diner. I grew up in South Jersey and have been eating in diners since I had teeth. I've eaten at dozens of them and, here you go people -- The winner and still champion of the world -- Palace Diner. The food is not anything gourmet, but it's way better than the price you're going to pay. As any good diner should be, they're open 24 hours. And, what probably puts them over the top is "Iffy" -- The Bangladeshi Muslim Republican who manages the night shift. He remembers your name, will always greet you with enthusiasm when you enter, and will argue politics with you if he even picks up a hint that you don't like George Bush. Don't worry, it's all in good fun. Some cherries on top -- the mini arcade in the waiting room, the cheesy holiday decorations, and the fact that they have a liquor license. Palace is the embodiment of all that a South Jersey diner should be. Don't be fooled by lesser slop holes. If you're a tourist passing through, here's your South Jersey diner experience. Ps. This place is so loved by its youthful overnight patrons that a myspace group for Palace has been created along with a fake profile in honor of Iffy. That kind of love for a restaurant is rare and should tell you something. A REBUTTAL TO JENNA-- 1. I have been going to Palace since I was born (I'm not exaggerating). At certain points during my teenage years, I was there multiple times a week. Not once, EVER, have I seen a roach there and I'm five foot three. If anyone could spot something that low to the ground it would be me. 2. Over priced? The grilled cheese is only like three dollars and you get fries with that. How in the world is that overpriced? 3. The food is not overly greasy at all. My roommate thinks that Palace is the height of Jersey Diner vogue (I specify Jersey because Jersey diners truly are the only way to go). He would argue that the food and the atmosphere is unbeatable. I argue that the food and atmosphere will beat you up. I know all restaurants have roaches, but that really doesn't mean that you should see them walking across the dining room floor (which I most definitely have). The food is bad, even for diner standards. It's overly greasy and over priced. Also, the service is terrible. I am a nice, friendly, quiet person (to people I don't know), and I'm always at least mildly polite to my servers... so when I have a problem with something I ordered (which I almost never will mention) I don't expect to have my food THROWN away from me. Thrown as in, forcibly tossed. That was unnecessary. Palace is terrible, but I have found that people in South Jersey love it, especially when drunk. The fact that Palace serves alcohol probably contributes to this love. I avoid it, if at all possible, and so should you! read more

Typical diner, but where I go when I am out late in the West Berlin area. I like that they have some traditional greek options on the menu like spanakopita. A lot of diners I've seen in the area don't have these options. Breakfast is fine, other than the Greek options it is the same as any other decent diner. This is a great classic Jersey diner. My mom and I had a wonderful meal. She ordered from the early bird menu and got a yummy Manhattan clam chowder and delicious chopped steak with mushroom sauce. My chicken noodle soup was great, and the seafood kabobs were truly fabulous- very flavorful!! The service was also good. The manager looked at our table and realized that we were waiting for our waitress to bring to go boxes. Ahhh memories. Memories of stopping in for breakfast at 2 am after catching a late night flick at the now defunct Atco Multiplex movie theater. Don't expect awesome service -- it is a diner, not Le Bec Fin. Don't expect a trendy selection -- it is a diner, not a Stephen Starr establishment. What you can expect is a ridiculously large selection of food made to order, a decent bakery selection and so-so service from servers who work as fast as they can. I typically get a breakfast platter when I go in regardless of the time of the day, but lately I've been ordering a salad with grilled chicken on it -- and I've been pleasantly surprised that a diner can produce such an awesome large salad. I've never waited for a table and I've never sent anything back. And even after all these years of going there, they still don't know me as a regular. God I love Jersey diners. read more

Had lunch here with a friend today. Not too busy, but there were a decent amount of people eating. He had chicken and shell soup (smelled and looked great) with a turkey club. He enjoyed everything and his sandwich was made as he requested, except they put mayo on it when he asked for no mayo. I wasn't too hungry so I got some chicken fingers, which came with fries. I don't dip my chicken fingers in anything but she brought a whole soup bowel of honey mustard. Damn! Even if I did use honey mustard, I don't think I'd need that much! I don't normally give reviews but this one is well deserved. My food was delicious and our waitress Ashley couldn't have been any better. But what really earned this place a 5 star review is what happened after my meal. I'm ready to leave when I go out to find my motorcycle has a dead battery. Of course my phone is dead so I have nobody to call. I'm not typically someone to ask for help and in this case I didn't have to. After tinkering with some things for maybe 5 minutes the owner himself saw me struggling. Before I could even ask he was pulling his own car around front to give me a jump. We used to go here all the time late at night because it was a 24/7 diner, they are not anymore though. Prices are reasonable but the food is just ok, nothing spectacular. I've had a few experiences where I was questioning whether or not my spanakopita had spoiled and was certain that my pastitsio had gone bad.There are a lot more diners in the area with much better food. They do have some really good dessert and bakery items though. Now that it isn't open 24/7 anymore I really dont have any reason to go there. read more

I have been here twice before and was satisfied . Tonight was not the best. The chicken pot pie was not flavored and did not have many vegetables . My sister ordered prime rib medium. It came medium well . She sent it back with the waitress returned it saying it was pink. We sent it back again then it was returned by the manager saying it is red in the kitchen . She stood over my sister and said cut it, . Once again the waitress said let me try to return it... it came back saying the meat is precooked. It was 5:00 and you are saying no One can order medium rare prime rib. . We were offered no recourse. Its a diner, what do you expect? I stopped there for lunch with my bf and I enjoyed it for what it is. My french onion soup was hot and cheesy, the french dip sandwich I got was thick and juicy and the decaf coffee I ordered kept coming hot from the typical NJ diner waitress. (her cigarette break is in five minutes) The menu pretty much had EVERYTHING you could think of on it so if someone goes there and whines that they have nothing they like on the menu...drop that person as a friend, family member etc ASAP. Look, anyone who's been to this diner knows that it's hit or miss with the service. You get who you get, and if you don't like it, then leave! I just ate here with my daughter on Saturday. My daughter is very particular about her food. VERY particular, but also very polite. They made that sandwich EXACTLY the way she asked for it. The server was busy busy busy, but SO SWEET! I mean this place is the epitome of average. Your average diner with average food with average prices. It is a 24/7 joint with all the menu variety, portions and price you should expect. Palace does not do anything special or remarkable to paint it in a better picture, but don't let my detracting statements sway you away from this place. Palace is one of those places where if you don't know what you want, "I'll eat whatever" type of moods, this place is sure to be more than enough 24/7 365. Palace diner used to be my ALL TIME FAVORITE diner for years! Unfortunately, I was here a few days ago and ordered an order for pick up. I picked up my food and drove home as usual. When I arrived home and opened my food, I found trash lying on top of my fries! YES- TRASH. a crumbled up piece of saran wrap with what looked like old dried ketchup all over it. Honestly there is nothing REAL special about the Palace. Service can sometimes be hit or miss, but I keep coming back. I'll tell you why. A TRUE diner should be open 24/7. The Palace is one of the few in South Jersey that always has and continues to stick to this criteria! It's a great spot to hit up after the movies, coming home from the shore, or just to go to for a late night snack. Food is also very delicious.
