I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by the service I received here. My friend and I had purchased a deal on Groupon for a couples massage. It was a full body massage for an hour an a half.. The building looks small from the outside, but is very spacious on the inside. You can hear soothing music as you walk in. Each customer is given their own private room, but there are no ceilings so you can hear what's going on next door. Keep in mind that a full body massage is just that- a full body massage, so be prepared to remove your clothes (you'll still be covered with a sheet). The massage was good, not the best I ever had, but it felt on the back muscles a day or two after - that's what is considered an effective massage, as I learned from med. professionals. But I also had a distinct headache about 2 hrs after it, and I barely ever have headaches, especially this time of year. My guess is most 5-star reviews were posted at the spa's request. The prices they advertise are not the actual prices, tips are practically mandatory. The women who performed the massage was very professional and nice, I asked her a lot of questions about why a specific part of my waist hurt and how should I avoid it in the future, she explained my questions and gave me many pieces of advice. As a Nurse, I'm always on my feet. I bend, squat, and walk a lot around the unit. So sometimes I have leg and back pain. I make it a point that I get a massage whenever I get a chance. Massage calms and relaxes me and takes away the aches and pains. Then the day had come to try Palace Spa. I went to their website and booked an appointment. Booking an appointment online took less than a minute and you can pick your therapist. I booked an appointment to happen in less an hour. They even sent me a message via email and text. I got to the place and was greeted by a friendly gentleman. Not too overly friendly or then I'd get that eerie feeling especially I'm getting a massage. (Me and my friends were just joking about massage places a few days before at a party. And one of the visitors mentioned this place.) Nothing sleazy happening here. The man showed me the place and where I was supposed to sit and where to put my stuff. I was surprised to see that the place was very nice, serene, clean, with high end spa like appearance. You can't tell that by looking from the outside. The background music was a nice touch. Then came the therapist named Ben. Hmmm I don't have a very good association with that name:-). He was friendly enough and very professional. I told him the kind of massage I want. I got the foot reflexology for 60 mins. He got the bucket with warm water and placed my feet inside. Then he proceeded to massage my head with lavender. It was very good. Then my legs, feet, and then back. The back massage was out of this world. My back pain went away. After I was done, I felt light. I like hard massage but not too hard. The guy knew what he was doing. I'm definitely coming back. The best of all places I've tried in the Bay Area. If you want a great massage especially for your back. Try this place out and you won't be sorry. This is the place to go after a hard week at work! Just finished my 60 minute massage. 30 minutes feet & 30 minutes full body. THIS WAS AMAZING!! Very quite and relaxing. Mary did an amazing job! As soon as you walk in you are greeted at the front and pay right up front. Then the receptionist takes you to the back and lets you choose a table. Once your masseuse is ready your are pampered and relaxed from start to finish! I will definitely be a regular here and definitely referring this place to all my friends and family! Horrible experience. On 9/19, I saw there was a $115 Groupon deal for a couples massage. Before purchasing the deal, I called at 2:19 pm to ask questions and I even asked if they were available for noon on 9/20. The lady I spoke to said they were available and asked what type of massage I was planning on getting. I told her I was purchasing the couples massage from Groupon and she tried talking me out of buying it on Groupon and paying the $115 there instead. I Yelped the place before calling and saw that they had overcharged someone, so I told her that I would be buying through Groupon. This phone conversation lasted 3 minutes. So we get there before noon on 9/20. I had my Groupon open ready to show her as we walked in. The lady, I never caught her name, claims I had no reservation and that I had never called the day before. I then showed her, from my phone, the time I called and how long we even spoke. She then says she never received my call and cannot take our Groupon deal. I was so pissed off, I ended up asking if I was able to get my refund. She said yes and that I would have to contact Groupon. She then asked if we wanted to reschedule for a later time that day, but I declined. Right after I declined she offered to take us right then and there, but I declined that as well. If I could give zero stars I would have. This was the worst customer service I have ever experienced before and I work in customer service. Why have deals on Groupon if you're not going to honor them? We ended up going to Ling Foot Spa which was not too far from this place and was $45 cheaper. I personally will never come back here.. read more

Had a horrible experience with the Groupon couples massage. Poor quality massage made it impossible to relax, particularly given the already un-relaxing ambiance. There were children noises, masseuses talking and even one of our masseuses' cell phone started to ring in the middle. My whole body is more sore after compared to before the massage, and both me and my girlfriend asked them to go lighter a good 5 times. At one point they brought out these hot towels and my masseuse pressed it as hard as she could into my back which was scolding. I won't be back. I was refused service due to my skin looking rash. I have a condition(Lupus) that makes my skin break out in rash patches. It is not contagious nor were I had any break out in the skin. The lady at the front desk did not seem to understand me and kept telling me "we do not have professional masseuses that can help you." That's fine, I understand their concern about touching my skin. I had massages just a month ago at another facility and they were fine with it. She started out with mild pressure on my back then she did the rest of my body and then returned to my back with a little bit more pressure with the oil. My first visit here came via a friend who gave me a gift certificate after I helped do some home repairs for her (actually, quite a lot of home repairs, they just bought the house and it needed to be made "move-in-ready"). I was surprised and grateful for the gift and used it right away. I broke my back several years ago and have a lot of trouble with it now. Admittedly, I was in quite a lot of pain after working on my friend's house as long as I did and this was much needed therapy for me. The gal who worked on my back was named Shirley and she did an awesome job; so awesome that I've been back 3 more times already! The deep tissue massages really worked the knots out of my back and reduced my pain fairly significantly. The atmosphere is very inviting, the staff are very friendly, and the prices are remarkably manageable. They offer a variety of services and, if they do everything as well as they do their deep tissue massage, then its well worth the commute if you don't live in Concord (I live in Oakland). I have another appointment this coming Tuesday and I'm really looking forward to both the therapy and the relaxation :-) read more

Okay this place is a bit overhyped. The membership is $25 and you gt discounted $40 massages if you pay cash. But go to either the nextdoor Far East Massage (equally good in my opinion) or Green Leaf Spa (far superior but further away) and it is $40 without requiring a membership. I just don't quite get why it gets such rave reviews. The massages are okay but they are exactly the same that you get at the 4-star Far East Massage place (which I actually prefer due to their hot stone massage deal). I've tried this place probably 4 times, Far East probably 7 times, and recently have settled into Green Leaf Spa - their masseuses are the strongest of the three spas and the most knowledgeable. read more

Today was my first time visiting Palace Spa, and I was very happy with the experience (60 min foot massage and 60 min hot stones back massage). 1. I booked the appointment same day, no problem! 2. I arrived on time but they were running a little late. No big deal though: they set me up in a nice comfy chair and offered tea/water/etc. 3. First came the foot massage (reflexology). The lounge chair was very comfortable, the lights were dimmed/soft purple, and the music was soothing. The foot massage/body reflexology was great! The man (unfortunately didn't get his name) was very professional and checked to make sure the amount of pressure was fine (it was). 4. Next was the hot stones back massage. It was wonderful! The same man did the massage and everything was great: I was very comfortable and relaxed, the stones were the perfect temperature, and the pressure was just right as well. 5. After I finished getting dressed, I was provided with some tea. I headed back out into the front sitting room where I enjoyed cookies and a nice chat with the young woman at the front desk.
