Still very good pizza after all these years. In 1961 Chicago I was born along with Bozo the Clown and 63rd St./Southside Chicago Palermo's Pizza. The Calderone family was behind the Palermo's name and like a lot of famous Chicago pizza families, people went their separate ways and did the pizza business as they pleased. But they basically all kept that original crust pizza which wasn't paper thin, more of a thicker crust but certainly not to be considered a pan, deep dish or stuffed crust. And their sweet sauce with a slightly spicy kick with quality Italian sausage stayed consistent. So whether you ate it at 63rd St., Tinley Park, Oak Lawn or Frankfort, you recognized your Palermo's Pizza. I've eaten it all. Sometimes you will see questionable reviews for all the locations but I've found over the last 50 years that I don't recognize the complaints/has not been my experience. One reviewer has gone so far as to say YELP is paid off for better reviews. That's not how YELP works. That reviewer also tells you to go to the "not currently recommended reviews" section to find the true 1 star bad reviews. But if you go there you will also see many, many 5 star reviews. The algorithms for when a review goes to that section really have nothing to do with anything. Long story short, try the traditional crust pizza. You won't be sorry. Palermo's as a whole is a highly represented, respected and historical Chicago pizza. read more

We ordered from this location on sat, it was the worst pizza i've ever had; the sauce was too sweet, the mushrooms were slimy like they were fresh from a very old can, there were sooooooo many friggin onions on there, I felt dirty after I ate and it was horrible. We also ordered an Italian beef and normally even from a super fast place they can be decent.... NOT AT THIS PLACE! It was dry, lacked taste/flavor and was very pitiful. I don't know where to start. Let's just say don't ever order from this place its a joke. You're better off eating a dollar banquet TV dinner. I ordered my children's dinner at 5:30pm it did not Come until after 8:30pm cold and soggy! I called at 7 o'clock to check the status of my order they said it has been ready since 6:30 for pick up when my food was a delivery. They said they can deliver it within the next 30 minutes I stated I do not want food that has SAT there for an hour before it gets to my house I had breaded cauliflower and a pizza they stated it would be ok because it has sat in the oven I had them remake my cauliflower and they told me my food would be on my way at 7 o'clock p.m. I had to call at 7:30 to check on the status of my order again she mentioned the driver kept hanging up on her and was now not answering the phone . My kids had to wait past their bed time on a school night waiting on there dinner for 3 hours. When it showed up at 830pm is was completely cold and my breaded cauliflower was soggy and tasted like fish if we weren't starving and it was so late I would have never accepted what they call food. When I gave up hope on the driver at 8 o'clock thinking he had quit his job because that's what I would do if I worked in this joke I asked them just to please remake my pizza and I would pick it up because I cannot wait any longer they told me it was 8 o'clock and they don't take any orders after that time because they close at 9 it was a complete mess when the driver showed up he looked half crocked and stated they are really messed up there. I'd say so. I would like to see them eat a 3 hour old pizza and fish tasting cauliflower I am completely disgusted the worst part about this is let's hope my family and I don't get sick from eating 3 hour old pizza. read more

Was at a party where the host ordered 2 pizzas for delivery. The girl who answered the phone was rude! She didn't ask if it would be pick up or delivery. Then when the host of the party told the rude girl delivery she said it would be an extra charge. Dah! Well the host was told an hour for delivery. About an hour and a half later still no pizzas! So the host called back asking where the pizzas were. Well they gave them to some one else. So, no apologize was given. The host said to make her pizzas and she would pick them up! And to make sure delivery charges are removed. They were. But don't bother going to this Palermo's. The one in Oak Lawn is so much better. And nice people work there. The only thing good about the pizza at the Tinley Park location is the pizza is good. read more

This was always my favorite pizza. I don't know what happened to them but the last couple of times their pizza was TERRIBLE. They put tiny little pieces of sausage and so little of it you could not even taste it. It was way over cooked. They also used to have a dinner special every day they stopped that also. I saw an add to order online so I signed up and placed my order. I received a text confirmation and a time to pick it up. I went at that time and after waiting 30 minutes they then came out and told me the chicken I ordered they didnt even have any there. Bad customer service and ruined our dinner. I drove 30 minutes to try to get the deal that was posted on their website only to find out that they "close their kitchen early" on Fridays. Really on a Friday? Who does that? They need to update their website, fast. read more

The two stars is for the execution of orders. They have a nice staff but man o man does my order get messed up often. I'm talking about more than 50% of my orders have been wrong and we order from here a lot. The pizza is just really good. Tonight's order upset me because it was a double mistake. I spent 5 minutes on the phone with the staff person who really tried, and said she finally did, to get the order correct. They can't do "quarters". Don't try to order a quarter of whatever because they never get it right. I ordered half pepperoni, quarter sausage, quarter cheese. No sausage was on the pizza. I also got a Caesar salad with dressing on the side and got no dressing. Mistakes are minor but frequent. Pizza is still good. read more

Customer service is terrible. Always something wrong. Order messed up-out of food-closed early-if they tell you 20 min its 40- no cook in the kitchen. Really? rarely a smooth transaction. Used to go the the Palermo's on 95th in Oak Lawn and never had a problem. Moved to Tinley Park and decided to try the one near home and that was our first mistake. Placed our order online, figuring it would be in writing so that they couldn't make a mistake. Yeah, right! Ordered a dinner for our son and when it was received, it was not at listed on the menu and it was also not as we requested in our order. It was disgusting and had to be thrown out since no one in the house would touch it. We wound up having to get something else for our son. I went on their website to leave and review and it sent me an email to further state our problem. Responded to their email with our complaints and never heard from them again! We will never go back to Palermo's in Tinley again and not sure it will ever go to another Palermo's location ever again. Major disappointment!!! read more

What a great place. Customer service gets 5 stars, Food was awesome just like always. We ordered for new years eve. When I called at 1:00 pm the manager informed me that they would be open till 10 pm but last deliveries were at 9:30 pm. No problem for me, I always pick my pizzas up. So i ordered 3 xl-large pizzas for pick up at 8:00 pm. When I got there, there were 4 people at the register and they were handled with care and speed. My pizzas were ready on time, hot and fresh. Simply put....the best pizza we have ever had. The Italian entrees are delicious as well but we usually order the pizzas with appetizers.

For a hard core pizza fanatic, this place is the one to really hit the spot. I went there with a friend in the late afternoon hours and ordered their Chicken Cesar Salad as an appetizer, and the waiter let us know in advance that the chicken breast is cooked fresh so it might take a while. When we received our salad, it was a great portion for our hungry tummies. The chicken was so juicy and cooked perfectly! The salad wasn't overdressed either, so it was amazing. The foccacia bread they give you to dip in some olive oil and Parmesan cheese is making my mouth water at this very moment, it's fluffy, tasty and free. The pizza has a tender and buttery crust with a slightly sweet sauce, which is a great balance with the salty cheese, and I ordered pineapple on mine and the chunks where a good hefty size. The service was great, they were on time with the food and it was simply awesome. I've been there several times to dine in or order and it was a "never fail" experience. They have re-located from Orland Park, but I will definitely go again and again. read more

Here is the deal for catering. Your best bang for your buck is to order a lot of 1/4 trays instead of half or full trays. This way your guests have more to choose from. The 1/4 trays go a long way believe it or not. Variety is the spice of life right. Their catering is a good deal compared to other restaurants. read more

Don't use their online ordering - when I picked up my pizza they double charged me and it took 4 days for reimbursement into my account. The sauce had WAY too much sugar - a crappy way to sweeten sauce - plus for the price there's way better pizzas than theirs. read more

The best tasting pizza ever....indeed! They used corn crust which made it different. We got a medium deep dish pizza and I must say it was a very generous size, you will need time to devour each piece. Lucky this is pick up only facility. I used their catering for my daughter's communion 4/28/13. I ordered a variety of items, one of which was supposed to be vesuvio chicken and they sent roasted chicken instead. Obviously the person who took the order messed up because I also told him about an Amazon local coupon for $50 that I had and if I didn't remind them when I called to pay with my credit card, they didn't have that down either. When I called I was told they would bring it to me but take back the other chicken. What? First they were 15 minutes late to begin with and I had 40 people here waiting to eat. Spoke with a manager, Maria because I thought that was ridiculous. She tells me, the only difference is the garlic sauce. Yep, but that's what I ordered and had the vesuvio potatoes to go with it. I had people waiting to eat and asked her what they were going to do with the wrong chicken. She said "that's my business what I'm going to do with it". Really? a manager? She continued to argue with me and then said, "I don't tell you what to do at your house do I? I have never had a manager speak to me like that. Usually if your order is wrong they send the correct item and you just keep the other one. After all, I did have 40 people here waiting to eat. She did send over a half pan of vesuvio (which is less than I ordered). It showed up an hour later. She finally agreed that I didn't have to send the other chicken back. Maybe it's because I told her my company has already started eating and I could send back a pan of bones if she wanted. The other food was mediocre at best. My guest said the sausage was very dry and they were not happy with much of the other food either. I was always a fan of their pizza and thought I'd try their catering. Very sorry I did for many reasons. They have lost my business for anything going forward. I plan on calling and speaking with someone else because I'd hate to think that she is the main person in charge. I have never heard a manager so confrontational and downright rude. read more

Their pizza is the best I have had in a while. It is worth the drive from Joliet. I was on my way to see some friends in Midlothian, they ordered from Palermo's and I had to pick it up. Man was the lobby pack, But the counter person, her name was Felicia, she helped the 7 people that were in the lobby really quick. She is a very nice person and gave a lot of information about specials and coupons. Another counter person appeared with my pizza, her name was Sarah, she handed me my pizza, and I was out the door. This pizza was delicious, that sweet sauce, perfect amount of meat to cheese ratio, and perfectly cooked and lightly brown cheese. I was in heaven...The perfect pizza. I have had the thin crust and it was good however this review is for the thick crusted pan deep dish piza. HORRIBLE. The crust was so thick at 5/8" (like 2 crusts put together) that is was dooey and nearly burned on top. The spinach was on;ly about 5 leaves and meager. It was awefull and we had to throw it out. We live about 20 minutes away and it's not worth a trip back. I am a pizza lover and hesitate to leave bad reviews but I had to this time. read more

I live in Oak Lawn and although there is a Palermos right down the street from me (read my review on Palermos Oak Lawn), I was forced to come to Tinley. In the beginning, they were top notch, as good as a pizza could be made, just like the old days. They kept this standard up for years. However, the last 3 times we ordered from there, big time problems with the wait. The first of the 3, I ordered a pizza for pu and was told 30 min. I arrived in 30 min but had to wait another 20 minutes. The second trip I was told pu would be ready in 25 min so I came after 30 min and had to wait an additional 10 min. The last time I went was the final straw. Same order, 1 cheese pizza for pu and I was told 40 min. Hmmm, I wondered, pretty long eta but at least maybe this time they're giving me a "true" eta. I got their after 42 min and from what I gathered, the pizza hadn't even begun to be made! I not only waited almost an additional half hour but my worst fears came true. I've noticed throughout the years whenever waiting for a pizza in the pu lobby, pizza places always try and "rush" the pizza out of the oven because the customer is waiting. This was no exception as when we got home, the pizza was not fully cooked, way too much white cheese and not the traditional golden brown. I'm guessing they have problems with cooks showing up on time if at all. These 3 incidents coupled with the fact they keep raising their prices way too much (I understand inflation but only in reasonable time frames), once again I'm done with Palermos. Now whenever I'm in Tinley and we want a pizza, it's Barraccos again, this one in Orland Hills. read more

On 8/12/16 I ordered a pizza and some sides (delivery), about 5:30pm, still no pizza at 7:30, finally called and made sure I wouldn't be receiving a charge at 8:30pm. The girl on the phone was rude, after waiting 3 hours for a pizza to be delivered, she said, "you can't just cancel your order..." She really stuck to that, because they still charged me for the order after the non-delivery. I'll drive to Oak Lawn next time. read more

This is the first review I have given and if I could give 0 stars I would. I ordered a pizza and waited two hours. I called and was hung up on 5 times in a row asking for a manager. I then spoke to a manager and told her what happened. She said "oh well I wasn't aware you were waiting for a manager" no apology. confused is this a branch of the 95th street palermos? two totally different websites. they claim they have been around for 50 years the inside of this place looks like a doctors office. nothing on the walls, spackle/dry wall repair visible cannot speak for the pizza ordered hot wings did not receive any "hot" sauce the wings were burned black to a crisp, they were dry and terrible chx parm and beef sandwich was nothing special i cannot speak for the pizza but this place is average at best. read more

Ordered a carry out XL sausage mushroom pizza to try out this location with a groupon coupon. Was a pleasant surprise! Pizza smelled great at pickup. I like the sweeter than usual sauce with right amount of oregano. Pizza actually tastes Italian unlike some of the less than properly seasoned competition. The sausage and mushrooms were plentiful and of good quality. The pizza was perfectly cooked and wasn't soggy in the middle as often happens. I ordered the thin (not the paper thin)which for me was perfect. Will definitely be back. read more

Good Pizza - Terrible Service. Order 2 pizza and 3 appetizers to be delivered. Needless to say, 2 of the 3 were out of stock. Instead of substituting 2 for 2. They substituted 2 for 1. When I called to complain, the manager on duty "went off" claiming it was my fault for not describing 2 orders for 2 orders replacement. The one star is for the pizza.
