We tried this place for the first time a col couple weeks ago. It's located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. It's very family friendly as we saw board games near the exit and many families with children. The customer service was good. The restaurant was clean. You enter and order at the counter and they will bring you the food to the table. I liked that they brought us both pizzas on a stand to minimize the use of space and actually have room to place our plates and eat comfortably. We ordered a cheese pizza and a bacon pineapple pizza. I liked that the crust was crisp, slightly toasted. Good sauce to cheese ratio and plenty of toppings. The crust was medium, not too thin not too thick. This is a cute place. Came in later evening for some pizza. I believe I had the Gracie with no mushrooms and it was pretty good. The only thing was the crust seems to lack some flavor for me. Just tastes bland, which isn't always a bad thing but for my taste buds I needed some type of flavor on it. We also had the cheese bread which was disappointing. It was literally just loafs of bread with cheese sprinkled on and not enough cheese. Service was great and the pizza came out quickly. The light fixtures in there are a bit weird...multiple different chandeliers and fans? Was a bit confusing. First it's the weirdest menu for pizza I've ever seen. 1, no 2 out of a dozen pizzas had a combination of pepperoni and sausage, the rest had chicken or veggies. It was our first time to try this location and we left very full and happy. We ordered two very different pizzas, the Hawaiian sunrise and the Greek. Both pizzas were fantastic! Who would've thought that putting cranberries and cashews on a pizza could up the Hawaiian pizza experience?! It was the winner of the day! The Greek Pizza was also great, loaded with toppings and cooked to perfection. The staff was super nice. My only criticism is the four dirty tables we saw when we tried to pick a table. We were the only people in the restaurant so they were not busy. We wanted a window seat but all the tables were dirty, so we went out to the patio instead. It is interesting that while Palio's has several establishments, they are different. The Grapevine location for example, has thinner crust on their pizza. The chicken fajita has a super flavorful jalapeño pesto sauce, bell peppers, onions, and cheddar. It was pretty salty but it's so good! As for the scorcher pizza, it has a nice kick to it! Its made with chicken, a spicy red sauce, jalapeños, roasted corn, garlic, and cilantro! These are not ingredients I am used to seeing on a pizza! I would get both flavors again! Don't forget to get dessert! My favorite is their s'mores calzone! It is to die for! Make sure you have someone to share it with bc it is big! This dessert is pretty rich and very messy. It has globs of chocolate and marshmallows inside a warm pasty crust with more chocolate drizzled on top. It's almost too good to share, but too big to eat all alone! We have Palio's at least once a week for their whole wheat crust Mediterranean pizza. They have a welcoming and friendly staff. I remember waiting for my pizza and they always offer me a drink. OH. MAH. GAH. Chels & I also got a salad - nutty Hawaiian or something random... but good! Lastly, we split a Chicken il Palio. OM NOM FREAKIN' NOM. Fettucine noodles, chunks of chicken, marinated artichoke hearts, sliced mushrooms and alfredo sauce, baked until the artichokes were sweet and a little toasty. They know how to make bread! Total of 6 pieces (3 loaves in halves). Chicken il Palio- Fettuccine pasta with artichoke, mushrooms, and chicken in a creamy white sauce. I assume the fettuccine and white cream sauce is their base for other pasta because the artichoke, mushroom and chicken were baked just right on top of it. It tasted fine, could be a bit saltier. I didn't like the chicken. It tasted like fake chicken, the ones you find in frozen TV dinners. Tiramisu- Yuck. I wonder how long it's been sliced and sitting in the refrigerator out on display. My husband and I were here around 5 on a week day. This location is BYOB. It was my first time and my husband and I ordered the baked ziti with meat sauce and a large meat and cheese deluxe (I think that's what it is called). It came so quickly! I was very impressed with speed at a place with a pretty wide menu variety (pizza, pasta, sandwiches, etc). The staff was incredibly friendly. The restaurant was clean and has TVs that aren't strangely loud. Tons of seating including outdoor seating which would be nice during fall or winter. The food was SO fresh. It was delicious. You could taste each ingredient in both dishes. The crust was the perfect thickness to support the pizza, the perfect amount of sauce, perfect amount of cheese which strikes a delicate balance and ensures the pizza wasn't greasy at all. Also would be interested in trying their extensive list of creative pizzas and I like that, according to other reviews, you can split half and half 2 specialty pizzas. The pizza was very good, hot, and fresh. However the place was being ran by teenagers that turned the place into a Chuck E Cheese vibe. Probably 12 high school aged workers behind the counter yelling and cutting up. I love hearing a dirty joke or two but maybe not when I am eating in at a restaurant. Almost all the tables were dirty and napkin containers empty. With 2-3 working behind the counter and another 6-8 doing nothing but socializing it could have been fixed. Horrible service and pizza. This place has left a bad taste in my mouth in regards to pizza and I am a PIZZA LOVER! As you can see from my receipt, we ordered pizza, wings, and dessert at 6:44pm. 1st red flag was that we received our dessert way before the main course (that should have been a hint). 2nd red flag is that we had to flag down someone to let them know we have not been served and it had been an hour of waiting for our main course. 3rd, they totally rushed the pizza after realizing their mistake. The rushed pizza was greasy, flat, not cut, and not done. Half the cheese fell off whenever you picked it up. I will most likely have heartburn and indigestion for the next couple of days thanks to this place. Hey, can't win them all right? You would think they would try to compensate you or at least the manager would apologize and make the situation right if this truly is a fluke. Nope, they just had the young teenage girl (who is probably just trying to make a buck during the summer - not her fault at all) do their dirty work and say "I don't know what happened - I am sorry" approximately 10 times. We finally left after half eating the pizza at 8:40pm. This is my first review EVER due to the fact that I am normally reserved and do not let experiences like this get to me. The fact that I had to drag my family through this frustrates me - especially when my wife just got off work from the Hospital Operating Room, working a 12-hour shift with no lunch, not to mention driving from downtown Dallas to Mansfield. We wanted something other than dominoes or papa johns that delivered, and this place had some excellent reviews. I ordered the Greek bread on wheat, the Sonora, pizza of the month, and a "create your own"- thin & thick crusts. It was all delivered in about 30 minutes, still very warm and fresh. The bread/crusts got soggy pretty quickly and weren't as crispy as I would've liked, but with delivery that's to be expected. Overall, everything tasted good and fresh, and left me feeling extremely fatigued due to over eating afterward! lol I highly recommend the Sonora pizza- thin crust, and without green olives! :) read more
