We had a great conversation while I eat a slice. She shared with me. Decided to give it a try for delivery: Garden Salad - this was very good and had a lot of "stuff" in it. Usually I find that pizza place salads are pretty bland and just the basics but not here. Fresh veggies and spinach lettuce too. Very well done. Spaghetti and Meatballs - It looked really good and my trusty companions seemed to enjoy it. Nice size serving and I think there were 3 meatballs. Pizza - We got a large with mushrooms and colored veggies (peppers). It was tasty but needed a bit more sauce. I did notice that it felt a bit greasy to the hand as evidenced by the number of napkins I was continuously grabbing for. The crust was tasty. I'm a NY pizza folding guy and it passed the test for the most part. Bonus that they were nice enough to include an order of garlic bread (shaped like donut holes) and had a really good garlic spread (had marinara too!) Now for the bad part.... I'll start by saying the pizza was sort of the "gift" that kept on giving if you know what I need. It's very salty and around 8pm (we ate around 6) I was so thirsty. The absolute worst pizza experience of my life was dealing with Palisades Pizza yesterday. At 3:00pm, I called to pre-order two pizzas to be delivered at 5:30, so we could have dinner before the debate. A basic large, and an 8" personal pizza with extra toppings. The bill was $65, but Chris at Palisades Pizza assured me it would be worth it and they would have my pizza delivered at 5:30 on the dot. "Don't worry about it. We've got you!," were his words. My husband and I saved up our calories all day to indulge in guiltless pizza for dinner. So when 5:30 rolled around, we were both starving. 5:30 came and went, no pizza. 5:45 came and went, no pizza. At 6PM, I started calling. It just rang and rang. By 6:15pm (still no pizza), I finally got Chris on the phone. It was clear he had completely forgotten about my order. He asked for the address again, and yelled at me about how busy they were. Then he said as soon as the delivery person comes back, he would send out my order. Unbelievable. The worst part, for $65, we got two pizzas over an hour late, one was almost burnt, and the other was undercooked and inedible. So much for calling at 3:00pm. The delivery person apologized and said they were "going to" give me a certificate, as if I would ever order from them again! I guess being in business for 17 years doesn't count for much. Yea the food is good but the customer service is absolutely trash, and so is the wait, ordering pickup is about 40-50 minutes, delivery can be up to an 1:30 or more, I've even waited past 2 hours (not including the 20 minutes waiting on hold to place my order. When I checked in after the two hours they guy who picked up seemed snappy and stressed and started to bicker with me. The WORST customer service, EVER! I called for a pick up, they told me 35-40 minutes. My husband goes there to pick it up and they said the order hasn't even been started yet. No apology nothing. My husband sat in the car for over an hour waiting. I called to inquire as to why it was taking so long. My husband had been sitting in his car for over an hour outside. He said "it's only an estimate you could wait hours over a quoted time" I said well that's not good business. I'm not going to pay full price for making my husband sit in his car for an hour. Most, if not all neighborhood pizza joints have pretty average pizza, decent to good, and a lot of the times pretty bad. This by far is the most amazing neighborhood pizza place you can go to. The crust is amazing, they load up on the toppings, good sauce and cheese. Even the pasta is good! And all for the same price as any neighborhood pizza place you'll find in all of Los Angeles county. Seeing all these negative reviews makes me sad. I've been ordering from Palisades Pizza for over 3 years and I swear it is the best pizza on the west side. I always order: half Hawaiian (pineapple and ham) and half pepperoni and mushroom and ask for light cheese. I usually order a size medium, but they also have a good special which is an XL pizza that comes with a side of I think garlic knots or bread rolls, whatever you call it. You can really tell from the taste and ingredients they use that it is so good and warrants the higher price you pay for the pizza. They are not skimpy on the ingredients. Yes, they are very busy-- but also realize this is a SMALL BUSINESS. If you have ever gone to pick up your pizza instead of getting it delivered, you would see this is truly a hole in the wall kind of place. It is pretty small and I do believe they are doing the best they can. They are always very friendly and nice when I come in to pick up my order. Obviously if you call at "rush hour" aka a Friday or Saturday night around dinner time you will have to probably wait on the phone for a little while, since they are on the other line taking an order. Delivery might take 30+ min so don't wait until you are hungry to call and place your order! If you call earlier in the day there is usually a shorter wait. I don't have a problem paying $30 for a large pizza, although in reality, that is an outrageous price for a pizza. The service is the issue. Delivery time is never less than an hour (again, we're talking pizza here, not molecular gastronomy). Atrocious customer service. It has been 2.5 hours since we ordered and we still haven't received the order. We called at the 1 hour and 10 min mark and they said the pizza would arrive in 20 minutes or less after looking up our address. 50 minutes after that we called again and they said the delivery driver was packing up and would arrive in 7 or 8 minutes. 30 minutes after that we called and they said our order was just coming out of the oven. It's one thing to be busy and be behind on orders, it's a totally other thing to constantly lie to a customer and then blame the customer for their lies.
