Okay this place surprised me! My bro wanted pizza and I wanted to sit and eat it, and have a beer as well. Sampas has a few beers on tap and a bunch of styles of pizza to choose from. We got one of the Brazilian style topping pizzas and one traditional. Both were good but I would honestly just eat my way through their Brazilian stuff since it seems to be their specialty. It's a cute little place. Comfy enough and clean and good. Service is polite and helpful. Totally a winner! I would suggest they invest in more booth tables to invite the longer hangout beer pizza crowd, but I can't complain since it's a little tough to find a comfy clean cozy place for beer and pizza that is casual in SM. My family and I were really excited when we heard Sampas was opening, especially since we loved the previous pizza place, Dagwoods, and we live nearby. Unfortunately, our experiences have been disappointing each time we've visited. The food quality has been hit-or-miss, with several orders messed up, and the toppings often tasting like they came from a can, rather than fresh ingredients. We also got a stale Nutella dessert. We have tried multiple pizzas and enjoyed their mushroom one, but there are plenty of better pizzerias in Santa Monica. The service hasn't been great either such as having to wait for the cashier to stop staring at her phone or stop eating, to take our order at the counter along with general unfriendliness. We were also disappointed that the dining room was remodeled and whitewashed. We have dined at plenty of Brazilian restaurants that we really liked - this is not one of them. read more

We were sad when Dagwoods closed and Santa Monica lost another restaurant we really liked. Its location on Wilshire was perfect for us when either walking to the beach or heading home after. We were happy to see that Sampas recently moved into the same location and had to try it! It's different than Dagwoods in that the slices are smaller and it takes longer for them to be prepared. Dagwoods slices were very large, like you'd get from most NY style pizza places. Sampas slices are smaller but priced accordingly. You can order a slice of any of their specialty or traditional pizzas at the same reasonable price. If you liked Dagwoods I I recommend trying Sampas out. Although their slices are smaller and take longer to prepare, they use quality ingredients and the wait is worth it. The dough seems slightly different than typical NY Style Pizza. Never had Brazilian Style before but we really liked it. Both of us even enjoyed the crust! The restaurant was very clean and bright with several televisions for viewing sports. The seating was new and comfortable. Our server Sara was very nice and attentive. Give them a try. read more

$10-20 Saw this place pop up in Santa Monica and was super excited to try it out. Came in yesterday for their deal and Was pretty disappointed, to be honest. The biggest thing was the lack of customer service. When I was served, I wasn't given a water and when I asked for ice water, she fills up a glass with plain water, and then gives it to me with a whatever attitude. I looked at another table before I left and another customer had a whole pitcher of water. I was never offered that pitcher, nor even any water to begin with! I've eaten at soooo many restaurants in the city and never once have I had to get up and ask for my own water. Also, the pizza was mediocre at best! Super dry, lukewarm, and lacking in any real type of flavor (it seems to be a common complaint) Maybe if the waitress had a better attitude, it would've made the experience better, but for what it's worth I would definitely recommend going somewhere else. So glad I didn't pay full price for their pizza because I would've been pissed! You're better off at Domino's! read more

Picked up two to go pizzas from and was disappointed with both. We ordered the Veggie and the Portuguesa pizzas and both were lacking in flavor and crispness. The bottoms of both were soggy, which may have been caused by the 5 min walk home, but really it was so soggy I had trouble lifting the slice up without everything falling apart. Flavor wise, the Veggie was alright but would never order the Portuguesa again. To Sampa's credit, it did indeed really taste like egg but that was the only true flavor that came through. Would skip this place next time I'm craving pizza. read more

CA certainly isn't known for good pizza, especially in Modern times, but this was surprisingly good! It was delish, and seem to be made with high quality ingredients because I did not feel bloated afterwards, the way I would with a place using seed oils, or other processes not of high standards. Went there for lunch just wanted just a slice of pizza and a salad. She indicated that two slices and a salad were $12.75 got it as it was not much more so I took it. I had ordered a Greek salad. Just went to eat the salad and it NOT a Greek salad but some funky tree lettuce salad- that was a waste of what $10!!! A wonderful new addition to the neighborhood and some of the best pizza in Santa Monica. I've only had slices (they can make fresh slices or any of their pizzas) and it is really darn good. Love the dough flavor and resulting light crisp crust; and the toppings are all really fresh and original. It's cool that they have both Brazilian and traditional style pizzas so when you do slices you can try something you've never (at least I've never) had before! All of the staff and owners are the nicest people and it feels really welcoming and relaxed inside. I love the Brazilian music playing and looking forward to trying all of their sides soon. As a former Dagwoods fan and patron I'm so happy to see a really great family owned pizza restaurant take its place that's quality in food and character. We had a team pizza party at Sampas pizza in Santa Monica on a Saturday evening. We called a few hours in advance and they were more than accommodation to reserve a nice area for us. Once we were there everything was exceptional. We were a large groups with loud kids and the staff took amazing care of us. Pizza is really delicious, possibly the best I've had in the area including all the gourmet spots. They have a great selection of good beers and wine on top of everything.
