Store manager is rude. Unprofessional. I went in to get an 8 minute booster tan (in a 20 minute bed), 23 hours and 15 minutes after a previous 8 minute session and I was denied by the manager. I live 20 minutes from the salon and her suggestion was to come back in 45 minutes. I had been experiencing some sensitivity to the sun and my dermatologist recommended frequent, short, tanning sessions. I explained this to the manager and she said she didn't care, I would have to come back in 45 minutes or on another day. I cancelled my unlimited membership; she exclaimed that she couldn't believe I would cancel over this. Obviously she lacks an understanding of basic customer service. read more

Tanning was fine... I am giving two stars due to the inconsiderate employees. As I signed up for a month (although they KNEW I was only going to tan three times then cancel), the woman at the desk leaned over to another employee and said 'just letting you know you are going to get butt hurt... you are losing your f*****g commission due to this girl canceling. She POINTED at me and said these words in front of my face. Very disappointed in how they are handling the COVID pandemic. I work in healthcare and called to freeze my account, was told it wouldn't be an issues and my hold would start immediately and just stop by anytime to sign, when I stopped in the next week my account had not be put on hold nor did staff know anything about my request. The staff was very unprofessional and offered no assistance to resolve my issue. Staff lacked knowledge to assist with membership issues. No complaints about my first tanning experience - I'll definitely be back! Arrived and was immediately greeted/had all my questions answered by Brock, who was extremely helpful. Picked a package, paid, and within 10 minutes of arriving was in the spray tanning room. Facility was clean and they provide hair ties, a shower cap, blending lotion, etc., which made the process even easier. I love the way my tan looks! I'd absolutely recommend this location, especially for first time tanners - they never made me feel like a nuisance for asking questions, which I really appreciated. read more

A 45 day expiration is too soon. I only tan once every two weeks. You do not have any good rates for someone wanting a set amount of sessions. Your packages are geared toward a frequent tanner not someone who just wants to maintain her color year round. Very disappointed with the options here. Your pricing confuses me! read more

I walked in to get a membership after reading the reviews of this location and I am pleased. The people who work here are much nicer than those at other salons who let "tanning associate" get to their head. The first thing I noticed was how clean the front of the salon was and how upbeat the workers were. That's rare. Usually tanning associates are rude unless you are purchasing a $100 lotion and a $100 membership and scoff at you when you want a cheap lotion and the basic membership. I walked in knowing I wanted to tan in the best bed they had, but I was a bit disappointed that the Diamond membership (as I was told) included the Mystic because I don't use the mystic whatsoever. I believe the Diamond is $110 a month, so if you're a religious tanner and enjoy a Mystic every now and then, this would be great for you. The Asst. Manager worked with me to bring down my membership to $99 a month, but I suppose for the area, cleanliness, and high quality beds that is reasonable... your membership pays for itself in about 2-3 visits. That being said, they were pushing to sell a lotion that they were no longer going to sell, Black Dahlia. As with many sales, you NEVER tell the price. I was hoping they carried a certain lotion, Obsidian, which they did not, but they swore that Black Dahlia was great and much better. Well, I completely understand making commission on sales (I spent over $200 in about 20 minutes just for tanning and a lotion) but I was not pleased with this lotion. I am sure to rub the lotion evenly, but it gives an unnatural color, and while it's dark, it's not natural looking like Obsidian is. I want to return it, but I can't. BTW, the lotion is $155.00... which I know the Asst. Manager gave me a discount for since I signed up for Diamond membership. But still, didn't live up to my expectations... wish it were more of a natural color. Dark, but not really for me. If I could return it and get a lotion elsewhere, I would, so I feel jipped about $100. The associates on both occasions (different workers) were all about sales, but that's their job. If you don't want something, just say "No thanks" and ignore them! You can't walk into a tanning salon and expect to go in and leave without a sales pitch, it's just not like that. The difference between here and other salons is that these girls are truly knowledgeable about the products and while they seem a bit pushy, LISTEN TO THEM! Don't walk in and not get a lotion, that's not only bad for your skin while tanning, you need it to lengthen your tan and to moisturize the skin. Anyway, I went to swipe my debit card and it wasn't going through. I apologized and called my bank and it turned out I couldn't use the card the rest of the day due to a very large transaction earlier in the day. The bank worked with me, but the girl was very nice, regardless, and understanding. It was embarrassing, but she understood and we laughed about it. **** Please don't walk into a tanning salon, or any place for that matter, and be rude to the workers. If you give bad reviews and say they are rude, it's 99.9% because you were rude to them before they even had a chance to greet you. If you're happy, you'll have a better experience. Like anyone else, they have a job, and here at this location they're good at it. I gave it 4 stars because the second time I came back here, there was a long line of people and the workers were not balancing their sales with customer service well. There's a line between sealing a deal and making sure everyone gets in a booth within a reasonable amount of time, and if it's like this all the time in the evenings, you should be focusing on balancing the two to make everyone happy (including yourselves). The staff was not at all friendly and was trying to get me in and out. While they did walk me through everything they were not the politest. My tan turned out bad. It is sticky and left spots on my arms and legs. My nose is very dark and while I was still inside it started to drip off my leg leaving a large white spot on the back of my leg. Shannon and Gabby have taken the time to understand my tanning desires and as I have rotated through the different beds, they always take the time to explain any unique features and show me how to use each one. I recently moved to the area and was looking for a nice, clean and mildly inexpensive place to tan. After reading the reviews I decided to try Palm Beach Tan because it looked clean and was relatively close to where I live. When I first got there I thought the girls were very nice, I had a girl who was training and I didn't mind because I've been tanning for years. After she realized I had tanning experience she stopped trying to sell me things she knew I didn't want and focused more on my skin type which I appreciated. Everything was going fine until check out. I had seen their monthly prices and saw the reviews and didn't expect my price for a single session in the lowest level bed, along with a sample lotion (which I asked to be nothing fancy just something with a little protection since I'd left my bottle at home) to be around $15.00. Little to my surprise it ended up being $25.00. HOW? When I asked they mentioned something to me about a new member fee however, when the girl had told me about the beds said the fee was something I had to pay before I start a monthly membership, which I did not. So a little upset I decided to suck it up since the girl was new and was nice and waited for my bed. However heard the trainee talking with the manager, who said that wasn't right however, nothing was said to me as I waited. When I got into my bed I was a little surprised because I had never been in a bed you started and timed yourself (I was always spoiled with automatic beds in PA). I hit the start button thinking nothing of it seeing as how the timer on my machine was broken and was relaxing when a couple minutes later my bed had shut off. I got up checked my phone and noticed I had only been in the bed 8 minutes. When I went out and addressed it with the girls at the front desk they told me that you had to set it yourself but never bothered to show me how when they were explaining and showing all the different tanning beds. They didn't even offer me to go back in or another session. BASICALLY I PAID $25.00 FOR 8 MINUTES AND A SAMPLE OF LOTION. Needless to say I do not think I will be returning because if its this expensive every time, I'll never be able to afford it. I gave it two stars for cleanliness though it was very clean. read more

I dont ever write reviews but I will today! I went to cancel my membership because I'm expecting and can't tan! So no reason to pay for something i will not be using, anyways i went in and explained I haven't been tanning because one I moved out of the area and two I am pregnant, and i had gotten a new card so i had a balance for the current month that never took out and instead of just saying oh well and them making me pay them 60 for something I never used etc... They gave me products of equal amount I can use at home while im awaiting the lil one, i thought that was very cool considering most other places dont care and say oh well i think i was talking to the manager mike? Michael? Lol either way! He was understanding and is always so polite! He made me a happy customer (even though I cancelled) ill deff be coming back once I can! I've been slow to get on Yelp and review the latest and greatest of things I do in my so-called life. As I kicked off spray tan season 2012 yesterday, I ventured back to my old friends - Palm Beach Tan - it says a lot that I continue to go there seeing as the Bradlee Shopping Center parking lot is a death wish. Hadn't been back since October but there was a new manager there, Amy, she was great. The minute I walked in I felt like we were old friends. Up-sold the hell out of me but I let her keep going, wondering if I needed to poach and take her onto a sales role at my company. In all seriousness, the customer service was great and I'm happy to be kicking off season 2012 of spray tan bonanza at this Palm Beach tan. I am a monthly member here, and I get all the bells and whistles so I can cocktail. Each and every time I go in here, the staff is warm welcoming and well informed. The salon is clean, they are extremely responsive to your needs. The other locations in the area are nice, but none of the staff compare to these guys. Whether you're there early morning, mid afternoon or late evening they always greet you with a smile. When you leave they thank you, and I am always thanking them. It's rare that you get people who care about customer service these days. These guys go above and beyond every time, consistently. Let's talk about the tanning options. They have everything you could ever hope for under one roof. You want to just tan really quick, they have a bed for that. How about a stand up? They have those too. Their VersaPro is my favorite spray tan option, but they also have the Mystic! Seriously, I love this joint. read more

INITIAL VISIT: 5 stars. I've only been here once (and purchased a membership), so I can only speak for my first time. I believe the girl helping me was the manager? Or at least the assistant manager? Anyway, she was a blond, very polite and helpful answering all of my questions about packages/membership. She navigated me towards options that I was looking for. I even walked in about 10:50pm (which they probably weren't very happy about since they close at 11pm), but they took me with a smile and took the time to provide great service. I planned to go in just for a few single sessions bc I usually layout at the pool, but ended up buying a month membership. Price wise, Im pretty happy with my deal, but lets see what's to come with the experience before I speak too quickly. * I have not tried the kingstowne center location even though I live closer to it, but yelpers have rated it so badly that I drove over to this alternate location. read more

The last time I went to use the Versa Pro, it was broken and Gabby put me in the new Mystic spray booth, explained everything, and didn't subtract any tan from my package because the Versa Pro was down and she knew it clearly wasn't my fault. Every year, about this time, I start wanting to wear sweet things like denim shorts and Birkenstocks with tank tops or shoulder-baring strappy sundresses with my hair twisted up on top of my head. Without a base, I get cooked. It doesn't matter if I'm out marching with a protest sign, floating downriver in a tube, dancing at a festival, or catching a Nats game, the BURNING RED is real. So, before the calf-exposing, neck-baring weather approaches, I start getting my base tan on. No, it is not PC and no, it isn't exactly good for you, but I hardly have a reputation as a health-nut, so this one isn't a stretch. When I need to get my tan on, Palm Beach is the ONLY place I'll go. I trust their beds and I often cocktail tan (part UV and part spray tan) to get the color I think looks best on my normally milky white skin. The staff looks after me by making sure I'm not overdoing it too quickly and by recommending products that will serve my skin type best. I have been going to one Palm Beach or another for over a decade and they are, by far, the best in the area. They'll even put your account on hold for a modest fee that then turns into "tan dollars" which you can spend on products later on. So, from May to September, I'm an active member (2-3/week) and then I go dormant and give my skin a rest and put my account on hold. By the time I'm ready to reactivate, whether to prep for an upcoming vacation, or for the next summer season, I've got enough tan dollars to update my lotion, and I'm grandfathered into whatever payment plan I had the previous year. All in all, it's a pretty sweet deal and I love this location as well as the Fairfax location. read more

If your a service member or anyone else that may get called away, be aware. After several attempts to cancel by phone at various locations, I called the main office unsuccessfully to cancel my membership. They said there is a clause when you sign up, your membership can only be cancelled by coming into a location. I said I would not be able to do that for several months, and knowing I would not be able to use their services, they still would not budge, and charged me until I was finally able to get to a location to cancel. read more

What a sickening experience. This is an example of the most heinous and heartless possible customer service a company can offer. It's Covid. My income is tight. I also don't want to go to a place where my health is at risk because people share personal equipment, no matter how good their sanitization might be. At the beginning of the pandemic, Palm Beach Tan rightfully discontinued automatic billing. Without notice, they started billing me before I was comfortable using the facility. When I called to ask for a refund, their pathetic "managers" (powerless pawns) said that they cannot refund my monthly fee. Such bullshit! Seriously? During a crisis when people don't know where their next paycheck will come from? During a crisis where sharing personal space is risky? We should choose when it's right to resume treatments at a place like a tanning salon. They offered ZERO assistance. ZERO sympathy. They clearly do not want my business. Palm beach tan is very clean and the staff is very nice. However, it's rather inconvenient! I signed up for the unlimited "once a day" tanning package. I travel a lot for work and my schedule varies. I went into tan and they told me it hasn't been 24 hours yet. I couldn't tan until 24 hours had past. It was the ENTIRE next day!! I paid all this money for tanning and they tell me when to tan. Never in all the times have I been tanning has this been told to me. I'm canceling my monthly membership and going elsewhere next month. It's not worth the cost either. read more

I just recently moved to the area due to my significant other being military and I just got a membership for my upcoming wedding. I went tonight and I'm very disappointed with the customer service, it was pretty busy which I completely understand I have worked in customer service for years and one of my first jobs was at a tanning salon. The girl that checked me in was very very rude and not only that my bed was dirty and had not been cleaned so I had to go back up and ask for it to be cleaned. I really think management should re consider who they hire, some of the girls are nice! I did give this place a chance a couple of times. Here are the Pros and Cons Pros: * Clean * Convenient and easy parking Cons: * The Entry Level Beds are very inconsistent and weak. I'm fair skinned and typically burn easily, but I couldn't really even get a rash with these beds. Any final results are very minimal and un-even. Other places will toast me in no time, there is a clear difference. Honestly, I think these things are just old Grocery Store lights. * The standup units are terrible. The bottom has very little light, so they don't affect your lower legs much. The doors have the quality of 1982 Chrysler. One of the stand-ups will not open easily at all. * They will take advantage of you. The place closes early (preventing you to visit outside of the 24hrs restriction) or completely on holidays and STILL charge you that day on a weekly membership. I'll give you a ridiculous example: I burn really easy in the beginning. So, I signed up for a week and hardly used any minutes. as I progress: * I started at 5 mins on the 1st day, then 8, then 10, then 20.. I was going to do a 5th day, but I couldn't because they closed early for Labor Day (and a person cannot visit earlier than 24hrs, so, I was trapped outside of that window of opportunity). They do this frequently and close whenever they can but still charge you against your membership. When I explained that the Holiday posed a restriction with no work-around , then they tried to get me to pay half of a full day rate. ... I will now quote the brain-dead verbiage from the idiot girl (Gerica) she said, "Well you got your money's worth". This girl tries to pull the childish, sarcastic attitude. You know, the over-acted reply of, "You know what, you just go ahead"... and if you I tried to say something, she just continued with the childish, sarcastic, "Go ahead, you're welcome to use the room".... go ahead... feel free....go ahead. I still laugh because it was the most childish reaction ever. Gerica is one of those individuals, that when you walk away from her, you truly feel blessed for not being her. You will know immediately who she is from the lineup when you walk in, trust me. But I wouldn't recommend even that joy of discovery. Just try another place. I'm changing my review, because of my second visit. After I recently bought a small package, I regretted it. They do not allow you to tan, unless it has been a full 24 hours. I wasn't told that when I bought them. That is completely inconvenient. Also, I seriously doubt there is any real science that shows it is harmful to tan every 18-20 hours, as opposed to 24. That is a shady business tactic, that other places don't do. I ended up losing part of the package, that I bought. I will not be back. read more

Consistently friendly service and I've never had a wait at this location (unlike the Clarendon location, which has great staff but tended to have a wait in the early evenings). Also, I was hugely devastated when I lost my engagement and wedding rings after I took them off in the tanning bed room and apparently walked out without them.
