This is an update on prior review. The company as a whole is fine. This is soley based on the project manager Asi who became a problem toward the end of the job. He does not appear to be very knowledgeable on large jobs. His command of English is poor. He would forget about items we discussed and had to be reminded to follow through. I would never want to work with him again. I think he did a bait and switch on the turf he used on my project. What I got is not the sample I was shown. He continuously tried to upsale us on unnecessary work. His level of professionalism reached an all time low when he threatened to put a lein on our property. A total dick!!! If you have home projects that need to be done and done right with professional and craftsman quality work Palm Construction Santee is your best and only choice. We recently had them do several projects including a new TREX deck (20' by 20') and railings; a kitchen remodel - installing "quartzite" countertops, appliances and new cabinet doors and handles; and a pergola on the deck. During the process we discovered we needed a new roof and had them do I also. Each of these projects were conducted within budget and seamlessly. The workers were absolutely professional and courteous. At the end of each work day the project areas were meticulously cleaned. My wife by nature is extremely picky about details and was beyond pleased with the end result of each project. She, unhesitatingly has recommends Palm Santee to all of her friends as do I. I have been associated with the construction industry in regards to post construction defect litigation reconstruction for over twenty years. Palm Construction Santee is the most professional company I have yet to see. They have helped make our home what we have dreamed it could be! Scheduled an appointment for an estimate. Appointment date and time was confirmed two different times by two different employees. Appointment was scheduled for 6pm and they call at 6:27pm to advise they wouldn't be able to make it after all and tried to have me reschedule at their convenience without an apology or any empathy. That demonstrates how unreliable this company is right off the start. Would not recommend. read more

I hired Mordechi from Palm Construction to perform a complete roof replacement to include faschia board, gutters, flashing, and damaged wood. Also in the project was stucco replacement and re-drwyall + paint of a basement room. All in the price was 20K less than competitors and they were able to accomplish within 1 week of scheduling. Competitors were delayed at least 3 months. As they are licensed in Masonry, General Contracting, and Painting and Building - they were able to service all needs in a streamlined and efficient manner from which other competitors will not. I will be leaving San Diego and turning this house into a rental, so the quality work performed has given me peace of mind. I was initially referred to Palm Construction via Angi's list, but I recommend you go them directly. Mordechi even identified an error from a competitors quote and work which would have risk the foundation of the home, the competitor was not licensed in masonry, so this advice potentially saved me well over 100s of thousands of dollars in the future. Would give beyond 5 stars if possible. read more

Lacks integrity. Yesterday, Nicholas was walking our neighborhood seeking unsolicited quotes. We talked for a short time, and I said the only thing I need at this time is a re-do of the whirlpool/"jacuzzi" portion of our pool. He said you had a minimum job of $3,000; I said no problem. He even passed me to an inside sales agent to confirm the appointment today to start anytime from 2:30-3:30. Your inside sales agent confirmed minimum fee of $3,000. No problem I said. You ghosted me today. Most likely because it was a small job. Hey, just say, "Probably not a good fit because of the small size of the job." It was unsolicited anyway. Instead you make me take the afternoon to be here for you, and not a phone call, not a visit. Just a no-show. Be better next time and just say, "We're going to pass as it's not the size of job for our company." If you don't have integrity in showing up when you say you will, what else is lacking? read more

I had them out for an estimate, which they said could only be done after a foundation inspection. They charged $500 for less than 1 hour of looking at things. They then gave me an astronomical quote for the work, including things I'm sure weren't needed. Then they called me repeatedly even though I told them I was getting more estimates and wasn't ready to commit to them doing the work. I feel ripped off and harassed. I DID NOT get a free estimate. read more

It was time to upgrade the kitchen as 23 year old appliances started to die. I found Palm Construction that did the most incredible job. I found a photo online of what I wanted it to look like, handed it to Elad who went to work, sourced just the right materials, lined up the crews and replaced the flooring and then the large countertops. Our entire home needed a repaint. Leoni had sent us two professionals who were very friendly and effective. They estimated a time of 7 days but complete in 4 and that was after is gave them the incorrect paint colors. We also got our medicine cabinets installed which requieres electrical. The job was completed wonderfully and they cleaned up all messes and disposed of everything. They went out of their way to do the job as early as possible too. Overall, I'm very impressed with the jobs to my home and would 100% recommend to anyone looking for interior work. read more

Palm Construction recently replaced a couple crumbling retaining walls at my mom's house and did a good job. The new walls have turned out well. They worked fast and completed the demolition of the old walls and building of the new walls within a couple weeks. Danny was the person from Palm my mom dealt with, and he was very professional and easy to work with. He provided detailed written descriptions of the work to be completed beforehand, and got my mom and/or others from Palm to look over the progress at various stages. After interviewing several companies, we liked Palm Construction the best. Shay ( our contact person, who put the whole project together for us.. was excellent ). We had our entire front yard transformed from grass , (mostly weeds) to Drought Tolerant Landscaping. Rating on the quality of the work and the workers would be 5 stars. Gustavo, Leo, and Jorge are wonderful- they work hard, do great things, and communicate well. We began our closet project on May 16, and didn't finish until July 28- 11 weeks for a 2 week project. The problem is Shai. He's as slimy as they come. He schmoozes and over promises, then consistently fails to deliver. Shai has a very engaging personality and tells you whatever he thinks you want to hear. When you follow up with him, he denies his promises and tells you that what you're asking for isn't part of the contract. Shai will look you in the eye and lie to you, then proceed to tell you what an honest guy he is...HA!!! As far as quality of work and quality of workers- I give a high recommendation. Pushy sales tactics, terrible project management, and I had to guide the workers on how to do their job correctly since everyone from top to bottom in this company appeared to be woefully under qualified to do even basic landscaping. Palm Construction did a beautiful professional job creating a concrete patio for us. There were a lot of drainage/slope issues and they were careful to make sure that things sloped to drains. The lead on the project, Miguel, was very polite and sensitive to our needs, and he made some very important recommendations that we were not going to do that. we're so smart and made the project much better. Adam, the representative, for the company was very attentive to our needs, readily available for any questions or concerns and made sure that they were communicated well to the construction team. We had them give us a free estimate and that was a complete waste of my time . The guy who came out kept measuring for countertops when I told him I called for cabinets only and then kept asking if I want a backsplash . And I had to tell him very plainly I have someone else doing my countertops I need JUST CABINETS done , and then he kept asking well how much is that company doing it for then he quoted me so much higher and then try to upsale me if I wanted appliances . When we first hired this company and the construction began the experience was not great. But, once the supervisor, Elad, showed up to the property everything changed. He was here every day until the problems we had with the shower were fixed. He was always on time and kept us informed on the next steps and what our options were. I live in an unincorporated area of San Diego. One side of my house is fully exposed to the weather, which means all the heat, wind and rain through the years. This had damaged the wood siding and when it rained, it leaked into my laundry area, often quite a bit. I needed to get this handled and went on Angi to find a company to help me with this. Palms Construction was found on Angi. The employee came out and assessed the job needed and gave me an estimate. The $ amount was very expensive, into the 5 figures but I wanted these leaks taken care of and I agreed to the contract. The employee made me feel intimidated and I should have gone with my instincts when deciding to hire them, but I moved forward. Some mishaps happened along the way and they needed to be contacted to handle these. Then this January, the rains came. The "repaired" side of my house still had an area that leaked. I called the company, spoke and text with the project manager. An employee came to look at the area but could find no reason as to why it was still leaking. (I had taken a video showing the water dripping into room). As more rains came in Feb and March, it began to leak into my upstairs bedroom, which had never been the situation. The leaks were always a problem with the laundry room on the first floor. They asked I send photos of the leaking in my bedroom. I did take photos but I text back that in order to appreciate the water coming into my bedroom, someone needed to come to look at the bedroom. Photos did not explain where/why the rain was saturating the drywall. I had previously contacted my plumber thinking a water pipe was leaking but this was not the problem since it only happened when it rained. I had to text the project manager multiple times to receive a response. As more rains came, the situation worsened. I just asked someone come out and look. The project manager text back " If you want them to come out, it will be an extra cost. I take full responsibility for my work, but if it's out of the scope it will be an extra cost". This situation not "out of their scope" and for the $ I paid them, I do not think I should expect anything less then a job completed and the leaking problem handled. Instead I received poor customer service and a job that has caused more problems. I feel as if they did not hold up their end of the contract. After giving us several options, they ended up building us a semi enclosed deck that suits our laundry needs perfectly and is absolutely beautiful! In fact, we had them replace our entire HVAC system while they were at it. I hired Palm Construction to build a front porch pergola with railing, replace my 1970's brick walkway with gray pavers, replace my 50+ year old cracked driveway with matching gray pavers and built a planter with irrigation and flowers of my choosing. Three weeks later, I am a very happy customer! About the team... Ben, the project manager, was absolutely amazing! A true salesman, he was friendly, knowledgeable, funny and focused. He had excellent communication skills, provided daily updates throughout the project and visited 3-4 times a week to ensure the project was on track and to my satisfaction. He made several promises that were not in the contract, but completed them all as he said he would. Miguel, the foreman, was fantastic! He stopped by as each project was started to review the day's plan with his team and when 2 small issues came up due to miscommunication between Ben and I, he was there to make things right immediately. No hesitation, no complaining, he just fixed what needed to be done with a smile. Arturo and Daniel were also wonderful! They communicated clearly what they were doing each day and often knocked on the door to ask specifics I hadn't even thought about. I wish I would've seen Shannon M. review prior to hiring Palm Construction for my remodel project. I'm experiencing similar issues with them. My husband and I did extensive research prior to hiring a company since we are first time home buyer's unfortunately it wasn't enough research. The person we signed the contract misrepresented himself as a licensed contractor and now saying he's just a salesperson. We were told the delay was due to City Building Permits delay however that was been verified with the City as untrue and coerced to sign a document to waive permits to get the project completed on time. We have done our bathroom remodel to convert bathtub into walk in shower as well as remodel the patio ceiling to wood with lights and speakers instead of stucco. The men who came into work were extremely mindful of the noise and cleanliness and after the day's work you could not tell construction work is going on. They took down the old fence, took out all the shrubbery and built and painted the new one. It was done quickly and the color match was perfect.
