We've had them for a…read morefew weeks now and still every time I pass through them, I applaud myself for having found FCR Fence & Deck and having had the wisdom to move forward with their company. From beginning to end the experience was great. I'd reached out to multiple companies, planning to take numerous bids, but amazingly found that few were unresponsive. FCR on the other hand was quick to respond to my inquiry on their website Contact page and were quick to set up the estimate appointment. The downside was I needed to wait two weeks. In the meantime I met the Project Manager from another company and was pleased with the experience, except that I never received a bid even though we texted several times. Rob Quinlan from FCR was similarly on time, but his amiability, professionalism, and communication, both in person and in subsequent texts, set him apart. He has excellent follow through, too, as our gates attest! He also really knows the ins and out of gates. When I said I wanted ours to be pushed open from the street side, Rob asked if we had a pool. It turns out that if one has a swimming pool, the gate legally has to swing out to the street. Rob explained that pulling a heavy gate is harder for little kids than pushing it, making it less likely they can access a backyard and drown! I was so impressed with Rob that I told him then and there that I wanted to move ahead with FCR. I received the quote and a contract later that day. It showed the options for the two different types of Redwood. Rob had explained that the photos one sees of beautiful fences are always made of the more expensive wood, from the heart of the tree. I had said that was the one I wanted, but it was still great to see options and prices laid out. I was able to sign the contract electronically. It was another two weeks before the actual installation, but the day of the work was fast and smooth. The crew and Rob arrived separately and on time. We all discussed every detail afresh, this time with Hector and Paco weighing in with their own expertise. There was some discussion among the men as to how and where to install the posts for the new double gate so that it would stay strong for the long term. I was consulted as well and made it clear that longevity and easy operation were paramount to me. I also mentioned that I was nervous about the possibility of there being a pipe to the house in that area, one that was private and therefore not marked by the utility companies. (Rob had done his company's legal duty of arranging the 8-1-1 Dig Ticket ahead of the work day). Rob took me seriously and walked out to the sidewalk, saw that there was indeed a drainage outlet there and told Hector to dig slowly and attentively. Rob left for the day and Hector and Paco got to work. Hector did find the water pipe about 12" down, right where the post was supposed to go. He had me come out and see the situation. He gave me two options: place the post over the pipe, in which case it would lack endurance for the long term, or go two feet down in the hole he had already dug closer to the house. I opted for the deep hole and the reliable fence. I was glad to have been consulted. I was grateful for Hector's having found the pipe without damaging it. Both gates and the small fence surrounding them were completed between 8am and 3pm. The areas were all cleaned up. Hector had me come out and assess the work. The gates have easy and sturdy hardware on them. They open and close with ease, swinging into the backyard as specified. They're attractive, substantial, and show every sign of enduring. I knew from the good communication that I could simply hand the check to Hector. Rob was going to come by to make sure I was happy but I said I was exceedingly pleased and insisted he didn't need to. He followed up with a text nevertheless to double check and I gave him a glowing, detailed review. Later that day I received an invoice showing I had paid. I couldn't be any happier than to have trusted this work to FCR Fence & Deck.

From the start, he was upfront about realistic expectations and worked closely with me so the final result would be both beautiful and aligned with my personal taste, even with the challenges from past wear and damage. One of the projects he worked on was restoring our outdoor patio seating, which had been heavily worn down by the elements. Then explained how long the process of permits, drawings ect.. it was going to take a long time. Then she asked the size of the project. And our location. And she thought maybe (either you do or you don't) they didn't even come out to our area. Sounds like this company is not interested in getting work. Very poor handling of customer service. In answer ........ I know how long it takes to get the project completed. We want to get started right away with plans (my husband would draw them up) estimate, permits ect.. We were not asking to have the work completed right away. There is a difference. But they way she handled the phone call was unprofessional. When I commented that it sounded like you did not want our business, she hung up.

Alex came in with an estimate that was very competitive and worked with me to provide hardscape of my choice. The new retaining wall looks fantastic as do the new steps. The crew, headed by Armando, built a beautiful retaining wall, finished with painted stucco to match the stucco on my house. They always cleaned up afterwards and left a very satisfied customer. His price was great to begin with, and what stood out during the estimate was how thorough he was. He actually got on the roof to inspect and measure everything. No pressure, just taking his time to catch details that other roofers who quoted completely missed. After the estimate he dropped off shingle samples so we had time to pick the right color for our house. No pressure at all, he gave us plenty of time and answered all our questions. Texting him throughout the project made everything easy. Here's what really impressed me about his honesty. We had originally planned to replace all the sheathing since the previous owner didn't do much maintenance. German included it in our quote. But when his crew removed the old roof and saw the sheathing was actually in great condition, he recommended we not replace it even though it was already priced into our invoice. That saved us a good amount of money and says a lot about his integrity. The crew was fast and professional. They cleaned up thoroughly every day. Our yard looked better each evening than when they started. Multiple neighbors commented on how quickly they worked and how clean everything was. German handled the permits, shared proof of insurance upfront, and was just easy to work with. He knew I needed photos for my insurance company and gave me a great drone video afterwards showing all angles of the new roof. Would definitely recommend!!

We had a few jobs done, concurrently, by Palm Construction (PC), and I'll rate them individually, but Work started in May 2021. Overall, 1 star, do not recommend. /- Take out old furnace, install new furnace in attic, install AC unit Stars: 3 Why: Covered a junction box, no cable management, left behind a mess The furnace went into the attic, which is a great idea. They made a mess of the attic: left behind loads of scraps, pipes, old vents, wires, screws, etc. They also put the furnace on top of a preexisting junction box (one I had installed for some hallway lights) - meaning I couldn't get to the junction box when I wanted to add a line to it. The did no cable management. They had to take down a fair number of wires and junction boxes in order to put the furnace in the attic, but they did nothing in the way of cable management, nor did they secure the junction boxes after taking them down. Insulation left in the yard, screws and sheet metal trimmings left behind on the walkways, yard and in driveways, ducting, as well as lunch trash left behind. They also filled our recycle bin with the styrofoam and cardboard from the furnace/AC packaging. Omari came out and cleaned up promptly after I made a phone call. /- Refurbish the old furnace room into a pantry & Hallway 'remodel' Stars: 4 The furnace closet looks good (its a pantry now). The hallway mostly looks good. The texture job looks excellent. The floor job was done poorly. We had PC install new vinyl tiles. The person doing the install did a poor job of cutting the tiles to fit properly, leading to a fair bit of wasted material. This in turn lead to 2-3 weeks of waiting for more tile to finish the job. Ontop of that, due to cuts making the boards a bit too short, they PC had to bring someone in to fill the gap from floor to wall that the trim didnt cover. /- Kitchen demo and remodel (different crew) Stars: 1 Going in chronological order.... Demo started way too soon. They knocked everything out in 2-3 days, but then we had to wait for another round of measuring and then finally they ordered the cabinetry (took ~3-4 weeks for it to arrive from [Malaysia?!]) - Learning point - don't let them knock anything out until the cabinetry arrives After the demo, they opened some walls to put in new outlets. What they didnt do - put in insulation. When you open an exterior wall, code says to put in insulation, they didnt know this - or they ignored this code. Inspector saw this and had them correct their issues (adding more days to the timeline). Demo had no attention to detail. Small nails, for base boards were left behind, and later the texture guy texture them - as if he couldn't notice a freakin nail. Texture person also used my grill brush to clean his stuff, without my persmission. Keep in mind we had no kitchen, so I was grilling ~every other day. Texture looks great though. We used the company PC recommended: Kitchen Makers. Kitchen Makers sold us out of stock, and discontinued, cabinets. So we had to wait while that issue was resolved. When the cabinets finally arrived, 2 cabinets were the wrong color. A lighter gray that was very noticeable when put side by side. Again, we had to wait for this issue to be resolved (out of stock for the size we wanted, etc etc). Roughly, ~2-3 weeks of delay due to Kitchen Makers incompetence. Cabinet installation was another type of pain. Installer, PC worker, put some cabinets in upside-down, put the hardware on wrong, did a very sloppy job on cuts and drill holes. There was no communication between electrical and cabinet installers, otherwise things might've gone much smoother. --- This is a common theme, there is little-to-no contact between electricians and palm construction. /- Electrical upgrade: upgrading main panel (from 100 amps to 200) and breaker box to handle the new AC unit, furnace, etc etc The subcontractors here are SUN BEAM SOLAR ENERGY CORPORATION and they are lazy: no cable management, using literal scraps of trash as spacers for the outlets, leaving trash behind, etc I was away for a few days, and thats when they decided they needed to go into the garage (I was told they didnt need to access it that weekend, nor would there be a way for them to access the garage). They broke in, using a screw driver(?) to jimmy the door - they were allowed in the house, but, not the garage where we had all the kitchen stuff. Then they proceeded to do bust open walls etc to run grounding wires. I just found out, ~1.5 years later, that the permit for electrical has not been closed out. This is an ongoing theme, finding issues later. i.e. they charged for the installation of 10 lights, when its actually 8, etc. They were quick to amend that final bill. The grout they used for the backsplash is cheap - its cracking/flacking out already. The duct tape they used for the dust covers (plastic wall/zipper door) ripped up the paint and they offered no repair service for it. read more

This job was to renovate my home in preparation to sell it in early March. It consisted of a kitchen and 3 bathroom upgrade, flooring and lighting fixture replacement, painting and removal of 3 popcorn ceilings. Beginning the second week of January, the entire job was completed within 6 weeks. When first hired, the principal of Palm Construction carefully tuned in to my specific needs and targeted timeframe, offering a POD, porta potty and, of course, a big dumpster. They made succinct suggestions respects colors, style and quality of products to be used in my reno. Their specialists in each trade worked cohesively with each other, as well as alongside other contractors that I had personally hired separately for windows and pool re-plaster. Although I had intended to live in the property during the renovation, I quickly realized that my occupancy was impeding progress, so I made the decision to vacate the premises. This was especially important during the removal of popcorn ceilings which contained asbestos. The work moved seamlessly from the removal of kitchen counters, sink, cabinet doors, appliances and flooring to the demolition of 3 bathrooms. Timely mutual decisions were made about fixtures, mirrors, flooring, sinks, vanities, paint and hardware, allowing the job to progress steadily to reach very precise goals. Along the way, it was determined that the air ducts needed replacing and AC would be a welcome addition to attractiveness of the home to a buyer. These issues were discussed and explained clearly and quoted at a reasonable cost - so I decided to add as change orders. Although I had never been involved with a home renovation in the past, I was very impressed with the patience and care taken to communicate with me throughout the entire job. I was a demanding customer with a an expectation of perfectionism and Palm Construction was up for the challenge. Beyond the scope of the original job, Palm went above and beyond with finishing touches and little extras here and there. They've come back to help me even after completion of the job, when I needed some additional retrofits for my appliance installation, which was not even part of the original job. I know that I can count on Palm Construction to be responsive and willing for anything that may come up in the future. I learned that they are a GC that you can totally trust and rely on. In summary, I am in awe of the completed work. My friends and neighbors are astonished with the transformation of my home. The end product is flawless and most impressive. My realtor has already offered Palm Construction opportunities for other jobs. My neighbors have asked for their contact information to get quotes. I highly recommend Palm Construction for your renovation work, whether it is a large or small job. During the 6 weeks of this job, I got to know the principal, Guy Yaakov, and his team. Despite the complexities of the job and the incidental issues that came up, the personal follow-through and attention paid to all questions and requests were taken care of expeditiously and professionally. Palm Construction took on my difficult and extensive project, did a great job getting it done according to my plans, finished on budget and I could not be happier. I worked with Edan Bouskila, beginning with the original quote, through the whole project to completion. Edan was great to work with, always listening to my ideas, considering my plans and offering his ideas and insights along the way, and always with a smile. A true collaboration. Any tricky issues that arose were handled professionally and expertly, keeping the project moving along and the crew always busy. Additionally, Gabriel from Palm Construction was checking with me every few days to make sure all issues were being addressed. Any questions I had were answered immediately. Angel and his crew were great! They were always working at a high level of professionalism, were easily approachable with questions and very respectful. Considering my project involved two decks, the upper deck incorporating the Trex Rain Escape system, the lower a spot for a hot tub with a bench wrapping around it, drainage, multiple levels of stair rebuilding, the enclosing of posts with stucco added and fencing with a gate, it is amazing the project went so smoothly, barely without a hitch. I also requested that my original railing be used which involved disassembling and then reassembling the railing with fresh paint. This part of the project also went really well and issues that (always) come up when re-using old materials were quickly taken care of and the final result looks great. Additionally, Palm Construction built a fence (including a gate) for me on a slope. This too went well and Edan worked with me tirelessly to find the material, color and design I was looking for. We are in the process of getting our house ready to be sold and the exterior needed a fair amount of work done on the siding, decking and paint. The south and west sides of the house were pretty weathered and beat up from the elements. After doing our due diligence, we hired Palm Construction to do the job. From the very first meeting with Sean, we could tell that this was a professional company that would do a good job. The estimate was dead on (was close to what 2 other companies quoted us) and was exactly what we paid. Sean took the time (over an hour) to explain the process, show their licenses and insurance-so that we would know they are above board. In doing our due diligence, we checked on the licenses and all was what it said it was. We were not disappointed in the least. They were always here when they said they would be and were diligent in getting the work done in a timely fashion. The work started the day they said it would and it was finished in the time frame that they said it would be. The quality of the work is first-rate and the workmen knew what they were doing to renovate the siding and deck. They kept at it all day and even stayed after a couple of days to make sure that the work was on schedule. The painters were meticulous in making sure that all areas were done right and neatly. Supervisors were around and checking on things often and kept us up to date on how things were progressing. While the work was not cheap, it was comparable to other bids we got and the quality of materials used will ensure that this house will stand ready to welcome another family and be in good shape for years to come. Let me just say first, that I highly recommend Palm Construction. We first met with Omri to discuss removing an existing redwood deck, re-painting our entire home and then rebuilding our deck with Trex. Both myself and my wife knew very quickly that we were meeting with a company that would be professional and would do a great job for us. The first crew onsite was the demolition crew. They worked very fast and without damage to our home. When completed all old materials were cleaned up and removed. Next Jorge the painter and his crew began working. Their preparation was over and above what I would have expected, re-caulking around all door and window trim. The painting of the entire two-story home was completed within just a few days. The home looks beautiful. After painting, Omri and Jean came to discuss the special requirements and design of the deck. They made several suggestions on how to improve on what we had in our minds. Jean and his crew again were true professionals. Everything was measured and re-measured several times as they rebuilt the substructure which made the final decking perfect. I happen to be very particular in wanting things build right, and Jean went above and beyond my expectations. The quality of their workmanship was exactly what we were expecting. Anything that we had questions on was immediately addressed. I've seen other comments on bids that seemed high and I have to admit that I was a bit sticker shocked at first. We had Palm do the design and construction for a new deck and small retainer wall. The entire process was fantastic and the results were more beautiful than we expected. We would highly recommend this company. Design was amazing and was built to compliment our koi pond and slight slop of dirt. The Trek boards are beautiful! The management and work crew were above outstanding! Exceptional work crew that were all very professional. 1. Dominez and Martinez team: I would have them come back for any project. Their careful attendance to detail and their skills were fabulous. Exceptionally hard workers!! Best company skilled work crew!! (Pedro came at the end and did a good job). 2. Garcia: Very attentive foreman who goes above and beyond to make the project perfect. Excellent listener and willing to do whatever is needed to ensure a beautiful result. My wife and I live in a 1912 Craftsman bungalow in the east end of Alameda. We inherited a very non traditional master bathroom that we lived with for 31 years. Upon our retirement we had the time to focus attention on a complete bathroom remodel project. We received quotes from several companies and ended up selecting Palm Construction which fell mid-range in cost. It was an extensive job which involved tearing out the vanity, tub and shower enclosure, removing linoleum flooring,..down to lathe and plaster. Once demo was completed there was of course concerns about how the project would be completed. We were very fortunate to have Sean Bar as the project manager. He was quite attentive and stayed closely involved throughout the project. David was the on site job foreman and he too was very competent and reliable. All the subs that were engaged (electrician, tile installer, painter, shower glass) did an excellent job. We specified using the Schluter system for our heated tile floor and a new tile shower. A new Toto toilet with the Washlet seat replaced a toilet that had difficulty flushing. A new wooden vanity with matching mirror and a Craftsman vanity light fixture completed the remodel, all very in keeping with the desire feel and function. We couldn't be happier with the outcome and we would whole heartedly recommend the Palm Construction team. read more

Ken and his team are just finishing up a triple decker porch renovation for my 3 unit condo building. From day 1 of the project, Omri has been completely up front and honest about everything ranging from timeline, to materials, to price and everything in between. The work is 99% complete and we couldn't be happier! There were a few hiccups along the way, one of which included a cracked beam that was delivered to Omri's team for the project. They handled the situation so professionally, and ended up driving all the way from Marin to The east bay to pick up a perfectly uncracked beam just to satisfy the condo association and keep the timeline on track. Additionally, the original vinyl we were going to use for the ceilings turned out to be flimsy material, and not up to par. The team felt it was best to use a wooden groove ceiling and did not even charge us extra for it since it wasn't on the original quote!!! It was such an honest and genuine gesture and I am truly thankful to have a team that had our best interest at hand on this project. I really feel that They went out of his way to put in 100% and the overall end product has come out so beautifully, we couldn't be happier. I recently had the pleasure of working with Palm Construction for a major transformation of my backyard, and I couldn't be happier with the results! My yard was originally an uneven 2000 sq ft area covered in mulch that would turn into a puddle during the rainy season. From the moment Benjamin came over for our initial chat, I felt confident that we could put together a solid plan. He listened to my ideas and helped me design a layout that included installing drain pipes, leveling the area, and covering it with pebbles and stepping stones. I also requested three sections to be filled with concrete for a grill, gazebo, and fire pit, which was a bit of a challenge. There were a few misunderstandings along the way, but Benjamin was always there to sort things out, which I really appreciated. The crew was fantastic! The foreman was attentive and accommodating to my multiple requests for adjustments regarding the size and location of the concrete blocks and stepping stones. While the project was on the pricier side, it was absolutely worth it. The quality of work and attention to detail were outstanding. The entire project took about six weeks, and I can confidently say that Palm Construction delivered on every request. I'm very happy with the project delivered by Palm Construction, both due to the result and due to the way it was handled by Jacob and Ken. I was looking into options for redoing my garage floor (about 625 sqft), and Jacob and Ken came out almost immediately to look over the project. Since we also had sewer lines of unknown state running under the floor, they suggested we first get them scoped with video in case we wanted to replace them, and even got a plumber to do so the very next day. Luckily they were in great shape! Their crew was on-site as soon as I was able to clear out the garage, and was super helpful with moving some of the larger items, as well as clearing out debris from my ongoing remodeling. Except for having to wait a few days for the concrete truck to be available, the whole job was done in three days, after which the site was left cleaner than when they came! Having a father who's a builder, I had several requests for what type of finish I wanted, and how to make the transitions between the new slab and the rest of the house. Jacob would always jump on the phone whenever I had questions, and came out several times to look over and document so that his crew knew exactly what to do. EDAN is very professional and committed to his job.We met for the first day for the free estimate and I was really impressed by his presentation. I signed the contract right away and I was supposed to do only one project but I ended up doing 3 projects at one time, front lawn retaining walls, carpet grass and exterior house paint. Edan and Alon were very helpful in giving me a reasonable prize. They helped me fulfilled my dreams- I have now a 30 year old BRAND NEW HOUSE. Edan checks the progress of the project everyday, he responds to my call even late at night and weekends. He is an asset to the company. The project was done. on time, the quality of work were excellent. I highly recommend to friends and families. I will definitely call Edan for my next projects. Thanks to Palm construction our kitchen finally looks like a decent place to cook again I must say that I was not so thrilled because I didn't know how much it's going to cost But you know Eventually we were struggling with that house it was really not comfortable really smelly and old and I'm so glad Palm construction We're dedicated to make sure we will feel comfortable again with our kitchen I won't lie I will even say that I was a little ashamed to invite people. They made sure that we will have the best finance options, that we will get the best results, that it will be quick and the most professional way. now I can keep going and telling you about the "customer service" and about "the patient they had with us" but you really won't understand The feeling that we had when you have a problem and you are struggling to find someone decent honest and reliable In the last minute I told my wife Erica that I want to try one more company and when they saw our " free evaluation" from another company They literally saved our ass from over paying it's not just another construction company we had someone to rely on and that's worthless its is so hard to find decent people those days so if this is what I can do to promote these people then thank you so much and im grateful:) read more

I gotta be honest, my experience with these guys was pretty disappointing. Figured I'd share my story to give yall a heads-up. So, first off, these guys weren't exactly straight shooters. They made all these promises during our meetings, but when it came down to it, they didn't follow through. It's like they didn't care about keeping their word or building trust. And don't even get me started on their professionalism - or lack thereof. Trying to get in touch with them was like pulling teeth. Emails went unanswered, calls were ignored - it was a mess. Not exactly the kind of service you expect when you're shelling out the big bucks. Then there's the pricing. Let's just say they weren't exactly giving out discounts. The quotes they gave us were way over the top for what they were offering. Felt like they were trying to take advantage of us, you know? But the real kicker was their reliability - or lack of it. They kept pushing back deadlines without any good reason, leaving us hanging. It was like they didn't care about sticking to their commitments or respecting our time. Overall, I wouldn't recommend Palm to anyone. Their shady behavior, lack of professionalism, high prices, and flakiness make them a real headache to deal with. The remodel crew demonstrated exceptional craftsmanship, transforming a dated bathroom into the beautiful main bathroom we hoped for. We started to use this company for the reconstruction of the front porch. Our house is over 60 years old, and when we purchased the property, the previous owner didn't take care of the house well. So, we had a lot of problems and needed to have remodeled, but we didn't know how to ask. Project manager Yonatan came to see us and suggested we remodel our kitchen, dining room, additional bathroom. He is so understanding about our needs and personable, so we trusted him. That was the best thing we did. He helped us to refinance, purchase the finish materials, also, design the interior. We found many problems in wiring and the outside siding was falling apart so he also helped us rewiring and installing a new 200A main panel and replace the old siding with new and painting the entire house. We also made an additional back porch to stargaze. Without Yonatan's suggestion and help, we couldn't have this done. He was with us through the entire construction process, and he always answers our calls immediately to help us. The company's workers are very professional people. This is why you should hire PALM CONSTRUCTION - I did a lot of research about TREX deck materials, I went online and looked on the TREX website to find a certified TREX PRO PLATINUM installer. I made an appointment with several companies, and none of the project managers that I met with was like Sean from Palm. We had a long meeting over 2.5 hours to create a plan with my back yard. He had great ideas for me and he was very professional. I asked him if I can go to see a deck that he did in the past and I went to see a project that he did in Benicia. The costumer in Benicia said that Sean and his crew were great. After that my wife and I compared all the bids, companies, and the project managers and we decided to hire Sean from Palm construction. The crew was great, they came every day to the job site, the materials arrived very fast and in a good shape as Sean promised, they did a great job in a timely manner. I'm very very happy with the process, with the very professional crew and Sean. They built for us a huge deck, second story deck with water drainage system and big pavers patio with a fire pit. We saw Palm Construction ad in The Localist Bay, my 84 year old uncle called for a estimate on new lawn in the backyard. They came and spoke with him, measured area of project. Gave an estimate. They made sure due to his age that someone else in the family was involved. Appreciated it that they didn't take advantage of him. So project day they took everything apart, came across an additional cost due to old concrete which was crack and worn, interfering with installing the water connection. They quickly brought to our attention. Again, they involved me to assist my uncle in determining options given. Once decided, they went add it. Quickly completed the new concrete (small area). Looked great. Within 2 days the project was complete. It looked great. Nice green bright color gave the old tired yard a lift. So happy for the work done and how they handled it. First with Alon who handled the estimate and contracts, Robert, Cesar, Edgar, and another helper. All were professional, good communication, hard workers, did a great job. Will be calling Palm Construction to come back to Sunnyvale for a couple of more jobs in the near future. read more

I had a great experience working with Mike, Ken, Keren and the Palm Construction crew on the remodel of my 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment in San Francisco. They did major work on my bathroom (completely gutted it) and kitchen (beautiful new cabinets and countertop/backsplash) with updated plumbing and electricity. They also installed recessed light in all the rooms and updated the floors throughout. My apartment feels so much more spacious and light, and I love being home. Every person I interacted with was professional and kind. Mike was extremely patient with me and my countless questions along with mini anxiety attacks as this was my first remodel. Ken was also very communicative and between him and Mike, I felt like I was in the care of friends. The designer they work with, Keren, is also amazing, kind and has fantastic taste. One of the most impressive parts (among many) is that they were able to complete all this work in six weeks, all up to SF code, and would have been faster had shelter in place not started. It was a breath of fresh air when Mike came to check out the scope of the project. Not only did he reassure me that it could be done within our budget but also within a timeline that made sense to us because we needed to complete the project in time for the birth of our baby in a few months. Mike was able to get his team organized and outside of the wait to get the permit for the project, once construction started, it happened super quickly and in a very efficient way. Mike's general team is a treat to work with and have been very communicative with me throughout the project. We finished our final inspection today and I couldn't be happier with the product overall. We have an office space that is wonderfully usable and really fits the bill for what I was expecting from this project to begin with. Mike and the rest of the Ocean Remodel team have been a pleasure to work with and have completely swayed my mentality on working with contractors. I think there's a lot of stereotypes around being nervous to work with contractors and seeing projects balloon into things that become not only more of a financial sink but also a time sink as well. This was such a wonderful experience throughout and I highly recommend Ocean Remodel for anyone that's considering renovation projects in their house.

BEWARE: I have had this scripted sales pitch run on me previously and recognized it. It is offensive and super unprofessional. 1-The salesman/project manager(?) immediately shows you a picture on their phone of family/child/dog to connect with you. 2-They then work with you to identify what the scope of work is that you want them to quote. 3-Then they sit down and start scribbling different stuff and numbers on their tablet and asking you "are you with me?", or "do you understand?", etc., as they are quoting prices for each line item for your scope of work, to keep you engaged. 4-Once your head is full of numbers, and they've got you completely spun, they verbally quote you a number that is HUGE, knowing that you are going to absolutely choke. 5-Then they begin the process of appealing to your greed, by naming the various discounts, material left over from another job that they can give you for free, additional discounts if you will sign the contract immediately. 6-They then show you a number on their phone that is actually a pretty good price for your scope of work. 7-They keep pressuring you that they can only give you that price if you sign a contract right away because they're just finishing up another local job and they want to keep their guys busy in the area. 8-Then THEY REFUSE TO GIVE YOU A WRITTEN QUOTE. You have stated that you are gathering and comparing quotes and a written quote is standard. But they just keep showing you the number on their phone and insisting that this is your quote. 9-To make matters worse, I needed financing and was assured that a soft pull would be done to qualify me for the amount needed. Apparently, that finance company does not do a soft pull on your credit but an actual loan application. It was not a soft pull and the finance company actually approved a real loan, which has the potential to affect my credit. Fortunately, the local contractor that I selected helped contact the finance company and cancel the "loan". 10-The salesperson/project manager came out an additional day to discuss why the financing "soft pull" approval came in so low (inadequate for the job). When I again asked for a written quote he essentially told me that he was trying to help me and that the quote would be the contract and it was about 32 pages long. Wow! Like I'm too dumb to read your quote/contract because it's too long. Amazing. It is standard practice to provide a written quote, which I repeatedly told him. And got the same "I'm trying to help you", "The quote will be the contract that is 32 pages". At that point, I asked him to leave. I'll be honest, at the time I was so furious and offended that I could hardly speak. AGAIN, I HAVE HAD ANOTHER CONTRACTOR RUN THIS EXACT SAME SCRIPT IN THE QUOTE PROCESS FOR ANOTHER JOB. I THINK THERE IS A CONTRACTOR SALES SCHOOL THAT THEY GO TO BECAUSE THE TWO QUOTE PRESENTATIONS WERE IDENTICAL. ***All in all, the whole "quote" process was extremely unprofessional and offensive. I will never, ever interact with this company ever again. ADDITIONAL: I BELIEVE THAT THEY SOLD MY INFORMATION, BECAUSE I IMMEDIATELY BEGAN GETTING COLD CALLS FOR HOME RENOVATIONS AND ROOFING JOBS. CAN'T PROVE IT, BUT I THINK IT WAS ECOSTAR.

Please accept my deepest apologies for the poor review that I left before. He is very hard-working and he is a very honest man. It has been awhile since I have heard from Alex. A huge storm came in and tore down the Patio covering. When this happened, I called Alex to see what he could do to repair it. He responded once saying that he was gonna talk to his engineer, but I never heard back again from him. He has not responded. If you are going to get a Patio covering, it needs to last not just for six months or a year. The Patio recovery should last for years.

Cato Paving is redoing the street corners in my Fremont neighborhood for wheelchairs. While still…read moreunder construction, they left a huge hole between the street curb and sidewalk that a person or animal (i.e., dog on leash) could have easily stumbled into and critically injured themselves. I pointed it out to the crew the day after I saw it and they fixed it by the time I got home. The work they are doing looks good but the negligence is very concerning.

Leo, the project manager, was especially helpful in the walk through and the estimate. He was very knowledgeable in what needed to be done. The project was completed in reasonable time and within budget. Through out the project, Leo was always on top of things.

All told, it's probably 1100sqft of new pavers installed. Luiz was the only one to mention drainage issues from the start -- +1 for his knowledge and eye towards the bigger picture of homeownership (water problems amirite?). They dug up almost a foot of soil all around the home, removed some stubborn stumps that looked like they extended down into the cavities of hell, leveled it out, installed drainage, compacted, and dropped in the pavers. This was a pretty big project that involved some project management from our side to coordinate hardscape, softscape, fence, and shed installations over several months. Luiz and Neto handled all of this nimbly and worked with the other contractors we engaged with, making sure all of the pieces of the project fit in harmony. They gave several key pieces of advice to us new homeowners, as we planned and executed over the months -- things that we wouldn't have even thought of. From usability and function, to maintenance and durability, they guided us through all aspects of the renovation, not just the hardscaping. They even connected us with the softscapers, when our original contacts fell through and things looked bleak. My partner calls them our spirit animals. I could say more and go on and on, but the other reviews cover this all pretty well. I'm here to reinforce what you've read and what you're already thinking -- these are the guys to call. We'll surely be calling them again for the other half of the yard.
