Get the grandma slice, it looks great. My review is on my order: cheese pizza and a white pizza with veggies and some garlic parm wings. The atmosphere is oldschool pizza place. I'm a huge fan and was really excited. The staff was really friendly. By Maryland standards this is a pretty good pizza... But we have terrible pizza. Palumba's pizza had a good crust (not too bready), but it was undercut by the sauce and cheese being overly salted. The cheese mixture didn't melt quite right. Over all a mediocre pizza. The wings were good. Slightly fatty, which I like. I wouldnt go specifically for them, but I might order them if I was there. The blue cheese was Chef's Choice, which is runny and mediocre. Picked up a pizza for takeout. When I got there my pizza wasn't 100% ready but they offered to walk it to my car. It was a really nice gesture and saved me from having to pay at the meter. Surprisingly good pizza for Harrisburg, PA. I made a bathroom stop in Harrisburg on the way to Maryland and spotted this place touting grandma pizza. They were out of it since it's very popular, and I didn't want to wait for it, so I got a scalding plain slice for $2.50. It had a sweet tomato sauce and a chewy sweet crust. I was impressed that this pizza is comparable to good pizza I've had in the NYC area. 8/10 pizza. The guy at the counter was an old Italian with an accent. He was very friendly and I had a nice conversation with him. He also introduced me to a family that was visiting from Pittsburgh and came here to have the grandma pizza. I loved the old school hometown pizza place vibe and the friendliness of everyone at the restaurant. I would come back one day for the grandma pizza. read more

Gave them another try and they've re-earned my future business. Great pizza today and a just-ok cheesesteak. Next time, no onions as that what seems to be negatively affecting the flavor of the meat. The roll was delicious. Huge and making it a combo with fries and a drink was a good value too. The grandma today was back to its original splendor as someone clearly took the time and care to make this great pizza. The slice of tomato, cheese and garlic was a knockout and the crust had the perfect golden brown light crunch. Mmmmmm, more pizza please!!! Get ready though, because the way it works is, the guy puts your slices in the oven to heat up, then handles money when you pay, then takes your pizza out of the oven and uses his hand to feel if it's heated up. Sal the restaurant owner called me off unknown number just to harass me over leaving a bad review. Never apologized to me for the terrible service instead he continued to be aggressive and dismissive about the entire ordeal. Let me inform you all there's plenty of other good places that treat their customers with respect. Just some context about what occurred I placed an order for pick up by the time I got there there's two signs one for pick up the other for placing orders. I waited for them to handle the customers at the counter but after waiting there for 10 minutes I asked at the counter if I could please pay for my order as it was ready and just sitting on the counter the moment I walked in. The cashier was very rude and immature by telling me to wait until he's done handling others orders who were being placed in!! I ended up leaving my order there because that's not how you speak to someone. Place also seems unkept and can ensure I'm never going back. read more

Came here on a pizza walk through harrisburg with some friends and this was the 9th slice I had on the day. Haven't gotten to 10 yet but this was the best so far. Old school: no gourmet, unnecessarily fancy, apart-from-the-pack nonsense. Just some great reasonably priced pizza from a classically unassuming storefront. Crust nice and crispy, good cheese ratio. Do you love strombolis?? Then you need to stop here. This is one of the best chicken parmesan boils I've ever eaten. The small is HUGE!! The workers are awesome and its a very homely relaxing place. Palumbo's is a popular post-clubbing spot on 2nd Street. In front, a crowd of revelers loitered, eventually forming a line that snaked inside. I asked for a recommendation, and a random guy said to forgo their pizza and to get a stromboli instead. Their house stromboli looked amazing; pepperoni, bell peppers, mushrooms, sausages, and onions. Sadly, they sold out, and only steak strombolis remained. We were hungry, so we got one to go, and the two of us devoured it in her kitchen. That mix of steak, onions, cheese, and dough was a decent solution to a long night of carousing. Not sure how big our stromboli was, but small strombolis go for $7.50, mediums for $14.25, and a large is $16.25. Since Palumbo's is much-ballyhooed, I'll be back for their house stromboli. Heck, I might even visit during the daytime. read more

I don't know what is going on there, when the owner is not there they treat people like total trash, I put a big order in and I got an attitude from the bald dude there, all because I asked for extra onions are you kidding me! The food is delicious but I got bad anxiety and I don't appreciate being made fun of all because I wanted extra onions, they use to be a damn good restaurant but recently gone down the drain and fast!! THIS PLACE IS THE BEST!!! My family and I love going here so much that we're excited to travel 30-40 minutes to eat here! The food is always top notch! One of our favorites is the Grandma Pizza; it has such a vibrant unique and fresh flavor unlike many other dime-a-dozen pizza joints. The owners are great too, they always treat us with a warm welcome and even though we don't come here nearly as often as we'd like, they always remember us and even remember what we like to get! They make us feel like family :-) Pizza places like this are just too few nowadays and I'm glad to see these folks keeping the good Italian tradition up! It's official. I'm hooked on the Grandma's pizza. I'm from the Famous Ray's school of pizza and almost always get toppings on my slices/pies. Not here! Grandma's pizza is good all by itself! If you do like toppings on your slices, there's quite an array of unique pizza choices. I have also tried the Pittsburg pizza which is covered with meat, cheese and french fries ... yep, you heard it ... french fries. It's really good but my fave is definitely the Grandma's. I like the staff here. Very friendly and fast service. Plus you can look at great local artwork for sale on the walls while you wait. Only downside is parking can be tough but the pizza is worth it. read more

When I visit Harrisburg the location is perfect for me as my Hotel is just down the street. Also, their hours are great. When you walk in it looks like 10,000 other pizza joints all over the country. You have your giant menu board. You have the glass case with by-the-slice choices etc. You have a few cheap booths. You feel the warmth of the pizza ovens. It has the right feel. The guys behind the counter have always been great. They are friendly and handle crowds well. One reason I think this place is so popular is that what you get for your dollar is great. When you see the size of your sub or feel the weight of your pizza box, you know the quantity is there. So now that I've mentioned all the good things the problem is the quality. Specifically everything just tastes under-seasoned to me. Come on; it's Italian food. I expect a little zip! On my most recent visit the carnivore in me was roaring for meat. So I ordered the small (14 inch) Meat Lovers for $16.50. The toppings on this bad boy included ham, salami, pepperoni, sausage, ground beef and bacon. It was ready quickly and looked fantastic. This pie was also heavy as hell. As I said the quantity is there. With all those toppings this pie should have been bursting with flavors. Unfortunately and sadly it was just bland. The sauce was bland. The only topping that my taste buds noticed was the bacon. I've noticed the same issue with the subs I have tried. My fellow Yelpers like to give these folks 4 and even 5 stars.
