I've been coming to Pampas for years now. Not too many people know about it but as o tell them, they are missing out on a gem of a steakhouse. Well, this place is never and I mean never happening again. My husband and I were incredibly disappointed at the level of incompetence for what is advertised as a fine dining experience. This was NOT fine dining by any means. Food, mediocre. My filet was fine, but my husband was served the WRONG cut of beef. There is a HUGE difference between strip and ribeye. How do you get that wrong?! Not to mention, it wasn't that great. Kinda tough actually. We didn't want to make a stink about it. Maybe the experience of just enjoying each other's company and having drinks flowing and a dessert would be better... that was the hope anyway. Nope. Sadly, the service was disappointing too. It's Saturday night and the bar only was extremely short staffed with NO sense of urgency. While waiting for our table we waited to get served at the bar and well, a solid 10 minutes later, we were finally able to put our order in, only right after, our table was ready. Again, just tried to go with it. I overheard our server saying she had been at the restaurant for a year. I thought she was new because her service and level of attention was awful and it was truly her attitude. There was no heart of service or hospitality. We sat down at the table and where my husband chose to sit did not have a setting. It took the bread guy to notice and move the setting. Our drinks were empty and sitting for a while before she asked if we wanted another round. Just rocks at the bottom of our glasses. Then when the food came out, they had no idea who was getting what and we (yes, the customer) had to rearrange the whole table to accommodate. Then, in the middle of our meal, our utensils still on either side of our plates, in positions of use, we were asked if we were finished and wanted things boxed up. NO! We were simply pausing to enjoy conversation! The price of fine dining is in exchange for the level of service and experience at the facility. The servers and other attendants were obviously not trained on proper dining etiquette and utensil signals used to communicate where a diner is at during their meal. Would you know what to do if our napkins were placed on the table or chair if I had to excuse myself from the table? Would you have cleared my plate? Or has Pampas become just ordinary? Are you just one step up from Longhorns now? Only difference being dress-code? To top the whole evening off, in attempt to celebrate our special occasion, they brought out a Costco sized slice on confetti cake! Nothing elegant about it. Just gluttony. As soon as we saw it coming towards us, we sent it away. It was a clown cake. Then, we thought maybe a nightcap and desert be would be offered. Not at all. We sat there for what felt like an eternity for someone to offer us anything. Finally, a different server noticed we were looking around for anyone. It was awful. They couldn't find our server. The manager didn't seem to care and just took drinks off our bill. At this point, the damage is done and we do not care. It's never about the money... I think Pampas has gotten used to their same crowd of Johns Creek regulars that are just okay with mediocracy. That's fine. We are not those people. read more

I had high expectations based on reviews and recommendations from friends but my experience was disappointing. Service was extremely slow, we were seated at 7 and weren't served complementary bread until an hour later. It took another half hour when we asked for more. I ordered a wine bottle and the server came back with a different bottle that was double the price and explained they didn't have the one I ordered. When asked what they had, instead of explaining she just tossed the wine menu at me and told me to pick. She also didn't pour the wine evenly, some of us were poured once while others twice. I'd suggest just pouring the wine bottle yourself. Also, most of our meats were cooked improperly. Some asked for medium others medium rare but we all got very rare pieces of meat. At that point it had taken so long to get served food we decided to just eat what we got. Servers need more training especially on the wine. Also, "still water" is bottled water which I've never heard of before and they charge $12/bottle. We had no clue and were charged for two bottles of water. I've heard "still water" used interchangeably as tap water before and have also been to other steakhouses that never charged for water so I was taken by surprise when I got the bill. Came in to celebrate my 1st wedding anniversary and valentines day and this place didn't miss. Everyone was so nice and greeted us with such openness. The decor was nice and modern but still felt like a great steakhouse. And the food was amazing. The bread with the chimichurri is just to die for. The tomatoes were good too but the chum hurt was the star. We tried the crab cake, sea bass, scallops, they even sent out a chocolate cake as an anniversary gift! On the third time, I was accused of lying from the manager (Brian). He's a horrible manager and liar. There is also a concern for cross-contamination of food. We had 7pm reservations for my birthday. We did arrive late and were told we could sit at the bar until our table was ready. We sat and the host Nikolai promptly and discreetly instructed my husband to remove his hat. He did and we waited at the bar for at least 30 minutes before being told our table was ready. We followed the hostess to our table and waited for our waitress to come. Finally she took our information and walked away. No one came back to our table for a few minutes. Nikolai came over made small talk and offered us water but never returned with it. All the while we watched our waitress serve other tables and never returned to ours. Chris eventually came over and served us water and took our order. As we looked around the room we saw other gentlemen with hats on and not one time were they instructed to remove their hats. Nikolai even carried on a conversation with one hatted gentleman. While the food was good the service was highly inconsistent. I'm not claiming we were being handled differently because of our skin color but the other hatted gentlemen and guest lacked any form of melanin. What a disappointing experience today at Pampas. We arrived and they sat us and we realize they were serving a buffet instead of their regular menu. No were in their website said this so it was pretty disappointing but wasn't that big of a deal except we were going there for the steaks and the only steak they had was a prime rib. That was very disappointing because it was not even good. Anyway, we got sat on our table and took a while for a waiter to come to our table. Once the waiter came he looked at us like waiting for us to say something as we were looking at him. You would hope he would welcome you to the restaurant and ask for drinks. After an awkward moment we asked for waters where he finally ask what kind of water and told us that we just needed to get up to go to the buffet. Didn't offer other drinks or anything. Disappointing for a supposedly high end restaurant. We go to the buffet which looked ok but absolutely not worth $90 per person, Copeland's has a way better buffet with way more high end options). I grabbed some seafood ceviche what was ok, and some raw oysters and a salad, I get to the table and I see a "WORM" walking inside my oyster. Honestly all my hunger went away. We called the waiter he said "well let me take this away". Not an apologize, not a manager, not nothing. The rest of the table kept eating but I was so disgusted I couldn't anymore. The rest of the food according to the table was ok, they said the chicken was pretty dried. We also order a couple of drinks, omg the Bloody Mary was absolutely gross, we have never had something so bad, it tasted like it was made with cleaning detergent or something. We asked to take it back. You could also tell it was bad for everyone, pretty much every table around was leaving the Bloody Mary full in their table by the time they paid. Pampas has been one of my favorite places since moving to Georgia. I've celebrated many birthdays there. The food is wonderful. Believe it or not I'm not a steak eater but I love everything else. We just had a surprise birthday for a friend in a private room. The service was efficient but not very warm. The server was more concerned about how to split the checks and that we shouldn't move than really greeting us well and treating us with kindness. Also, I can't say how much it would mean to have gluten-free bread. We would probably go there so much more. I'm surprised they haven't gotten the clue yet. Last night on Mother's Day my family had to deal with the worse service and disrespectfulness I have had to deal with in quite a while. To get this from Pampas was truly disheartening. We have been to this Pampas numerous times. Lately I have noticed we go to Pampas we have been stuck in a side room not the main room. One of the reasons we go to Pampas is for the Aviance. I would recommend that Pampas put some money in their side rooms to match the Aviance in the main room as much as possible. We arrived at Pampas at 6:17 and we were told we would have to wait to 6:30, the time of our reservations, to be seated. We were not seated until 6:40. I guess that is not to bad but still irritating. What happened next truly destroyed the whole evening. We were seated and not one person said anything to us for the next 25 mins.. No water no nothing. We noticed waiters in the area at other tables, but no one said anything to us. We noticed one waiter talking very loudley with a family next us, the conversation with that family went on for about 10 mins. After he was done talking to that family he went to another table in the little cramped room they put us in and he started to talk to them. Later in the evening we noticed the same waiter talk to another family that came in afterwards and talked to them for at least 5 mins. He not once said anything to my family. I did notice that the family's all had something in common. They were all white. There were two families in that room that were of color my family being one. I am a white man, 66 years old, my wife is black, and my daughter mixed. The other family the waiter said nothing to was black. I just find it so odd that he took the time to talk to every family in the room except those who were of color or mixed. I have had to deal with racism for over 39 years because I married a black person and its not ok and not acceptable. I married my wife in 1986 and here in 2025 I am still dealing with Bull crap. I was trained in the army as an equal opportunity NCO in the army. I was trained in how to notice bigotry, racism, discrimination and bias actions and how to deal with it. The optics of this waiters' actions does not look good. I was not in the waiter's head so I cannot tell you his ethics or how he feels towards those of a different color, but again, the optics were not good. Finaly a person who took care of the bread and water came up to us and asked us if anyone has served us yet. We told him that no one has said anything, and he was the first. I told him that this was ridiculous. He apologized and said he would get a waiter immediately. A bout 5 mins later a waiter did come by and served us. The food was okay, but I have thought Pampas has slowly declined in their flavor and their consistency of their steaks and food for years now. The steak was good, but I thought a little chewy even at medium temp. The bass was cooked very very good. Just the right amount of crunchiness and the bass flaked up very good. However, it was not as tasty as other restaurants bass. The young man who took care of us when he noticed no one else should be commended. He was very thoughtful and apologetic and checked on us a couple of times through dinner and apologized multiple times about the service we were receiving. I think there are much better restaurants in the area that I would recommend other that Pampas. Another restaurant that is owned by the same owner is H&W in Norcross. We have been their twice and the service is impeccable. I would recommend that place over Pampas. The actions of this one waiter, he saw us sitting there for over 20 mins and he said nothing to us or get our waiter needs to be looked at. This is a management issue and needs to be addressed. I paid over 300 dollars for that dinner for that type of service, and it should be addressed. I would think twice for anyone who reads this to go to this Pampas. I all ways try to be fair with my reviews and everthing I have typed is the truth and not exaggerated. The first time it was over cooked, the second time was under cooked, and I guess the third time is the charm. 2. Management needs Customer experience training. I could not even try it. I wanted to make a business reservation for 12. Danielle, the dining director, told me that the only way to make such a reservation is to sign a contract, and this is their policy for 15 years all through a text, not even the courtesy to call me directly. I understand the reasoning behind this, but the contract does not guarantee that we will get excellent, friendly service or that the food will be exceptional. There are reviews about not getting the expected service from such a high-end establishment and the food being just ok. I understand that only some things can be 100% as expected, but then so should they. If they expect a contract, then there should be a guarantee for the customer who is there to give them money. It seems that they are busy enough that they do not have to provide a friendly and exceptional customer experience and respect that other great restaurants in the area do. read more

I really wanted to like this place more since I went here for my 22nd birthday with my mom and brother! Overall the experience was good and I was definitely happy, but 5 stars seems like a little much considering the service and the food. The service was the biggest downside. Our waiter seemed like she didn't like us and was very aloof from the start. It took a very, very long time for us to get our food. And our waiter was never to be seen so we couldn't ask for anything. It was really hard to find her. We ended up asking other waiters passing by for help. I ordered the Filet Mignon with an added $22 broiled lobster tail. The Filet Mignon texture was incredible. It was buttery and soft. I got it medium. It was kind of bland and lacking a little bit of seasoning for my taste, but I think it could be wonderful if you got one of the sauce add-ons or toppings. The lobster flavor was on point and so tasty. It came with a side of butter and lemon. The lobster was a little overdone, as it was tougher than a lot of lobster I've had before. The texture was slightly rubbery. I also ordered sautéed mushrooms with my entree, but it was nowhere to be seen on my plate. I just figured maybe the restaurant was too loud, and the waitress didn't hear me. Well the mushrooms were still added onto our bill even though I didn't get any. It was quite a hassle having to find our waitress and getting her to adjust our bill. My brother ordered the New York Strip medium-rare and he liked it. My mom got the lobster bisque and it had really good flavor. The bread and the sauces that come with it are good. Since it was my birthday, we got a flan cheesecake with a candle. The moscato I ordered was really good and a great sweet wine. Our reservation was for 8:30 and when we got there, the restaurant was so loud and crowded that we couldn't even hear each other across the table. An hour later, it was less loud and much better. Overall the food is good, just not as good as I expected for the price. Service could be better. But overall this place makes for a good experience with the birthday dessert and the elegant decor! Excellent Argentinan steakhouse in Alpharetta. The steak menu, i.e., a large plate of real steaks, made me even more hungry. I selected a special cut of bone-in ribeye not found in the standard menu. Perhaps I'll try the medium rare next time to compare the tenderness as I like a bit more red ones. The flavor was fantastic, though. I wanted to focus on the actual steak so I minimized the sides. We came here on a weekend night with a reservation. They have a self parking option along with valet. All of the protocols were being taken including masked servers, spaced tables, and paperless menus. We were seated at a nice large table in the main dining room to the left when you walk in. The service was great and was a team effort, with multiple people helping us in all aspects of the meal. We started with the beef carpaccio and it was truly one of the best I have ever had. The truffle oil was a nice added touch and made the dish come alive. For my entree, I had the center cut 8oz. filet. It was cooked to perfection and the quality of the meat was supurb.
