It looks pretty vintage inside, the ladies are older but really friendly and they prefer Spanish it seems. I could see the kitchen and it looked pretty vast and well kept, overall clean establishment with fresh looking items. Generally not the biggest fan of pan dulce so just stuck with the original beerock for $5.25. Wow, it was soft and warm with lots of filling. It was solid and I enjoyed every bite of it. Now I'm looking forward to coming back and getting the asada one! read more

A Mexican bakery that also sells savory German pastries called bierocks are a savory soft pastry filled with meat and veggies. I was so excited to see these in the case and double excited to see the different flavor styles offered and influenced by the surrounding neighborhood. They had classic bierocks with ground beef and cabbage, cheese with jalapeño, chorizo, and carne asada. I bought one of each! These were not quite like the ones I had as a kid, but still very good. I loved all the fillings, but my favorite was a Carne Asada with cheese. Their classic cabbage and ground beef bierock was a little bland. The chorizo was delish and all that soft bread was the perfect grease absorber. From what I was told, they sell bierocks because this bakery used to be owned by an old German couple who retired and sold it to a Mexican family. The original owners asked if they would keep these traditional German treats on the menu for their loyal customers who still lived in the neighborhood. Since then, they have gone on to keep the traditional alive while adding their own flavor and style, which I think is amazing! read more

Perfect in every way!! Never thought I would find the BEST BIEROC EVER at a bakery in Tower! I love Tower and so happy I came across this place. I'm German and have had Bierocs in Germany and this place is even better if that's possible!! The flavor of the meat/cabbage mixture is spot on as is the bread. I was at the studio and decided it was time for something to munch on so I headed out to the restaurants along Olive Avenue, I had never been to this bakery before and I love bedrocks so I thought it was time. Upon entering a sense of calm came over me as I walked by the displays of baked goods and seeing the variety only added to my comfort zone. With three types of beerocks and endless kinds of sugary treats I couldn't decide...so I asked for some guidance from the two girls working the counter. I selected two of three types of beerocks and an apple baked treat...being cool outside a cappuccino was in order. With two bags of yum and a cup full of joy I walked out with a different pep to my step only to notice the 4 extra pastries, she gave me a bonus! Seeing a homeless person I extended a gift of a chocolate bar and a kind look only too familiar in these mask wearing days, with a thankful pronouncement expressed I continued my journey back to the studio and proceeded to enjoy the contents of my carry. I have come here once when I lived in tower when they first opened many many years ago and it was very so so as I took a box of pastries into work. Whatever they have done between now and then is a mystery to me but the pastries are an instant home run. Opening the cases made my daughter swoon, being hit in the face with a blanket of sweet air was such a delight! The huge assortment of breads were arranged and stacked neatly and you could feel the fresh warmth of them on the tray. Some of the specialty items were in cases only accessible to the workers, no issue at all as she was nice and attentive. Today is Three Kings Day and they had boxes of Roscas available, small and large for $20/25. To my knowledge the smaller bakeries have these on a preorder basis so I liked that you could casually pick one up at the last second if needed. My kids and I have already dug in and the offerings are fresh and beyond tasty. They're trying a little bit of everything and we've got nothing but praise over here! Well done! read more

My wife is Japanese and she got a bad skin allergy from something that we ate when we tried their pastries. I am a white male and I didn't get any kind of reaction but I didn't eat any of the pastries after my wife got an immediate skin reaction over most of her body. I think if you have a sensitive system or something maybe you shouldn't go here. Good place for pan dulce, terrific place for delicious bierocks. This place is about a mile from our house so we've come a few times for pan dulce (standard prices, average price about 65-75 cents a piece). But the star, to me, is their bierocks / beerocks. The dough is that distinctive bierock dough with peppery meat inside, so good. Price might have gone up since I was last in but still reasonable at $3.25 or so, as lunch (I would say light lunch but there's all that delicious dough and meat...). It's never been busy when I've gone in. There's always one person that comes out when the door bell goes off. There are trays with tongs at the counter in front of you when you walk in. Go to each of the cases to peak at what you want then open to take out what you want in to your tray then take that up to the counter to get rung up. Prices aren't posted on each shelf which is kind of annoying. If you're just coming in for bierocks, you can order that as soon as the gal comes in from the back. You can take them out the fridge or they can warm them up for you :) read more

I came here for the first time last Sunday and was very impressed with how good all the bread and pastries were! I purchased 2 conchas and 2 pan cuernos for $4! It was so good- very soft as if made that morning and your typical pan dulce we all crave. Definitely will come back here again. In terms of COVID handling, they are open with the hours listed on Yelp. You need go to through the side door near the parking lot- don't be fooled, they are open! When I went, all customers were wearing masks and doing their best at social distancing. The woman handling the bread/register was wearing gloves but no mask. I understand that Fresno county is recommended for masks but not mandatory- I might be wrong. Take this info as you will! read more

One of my favorite places for Mexican bread. Most Mexican breads are naturally dry and hard in half a day. I don't know how they do it, but their bread still remains stays soft and moist after a few days. Been to other towns that claims their bread to be the best in their hometown, but it still doesn't beat Natalies, because theirs are still dry compared to Natalies. My only go to place for Mexican bread and no where else. read more

What an amazing selection of Mexican sweet bread. We ducked in to kill some time and get some a/c before our play at the Tower. Unfortunately they only had 1 little table inside and 4 chairs for the 6 of us. The very nice woman behind the counter brought out chairs for all Of us and even brought out 2 savory items for us to try. Great selection, don't go for the a/c it isn't really on. I wanted to like them, but it was a huge no for me. The owner was kinda not honest. I walked in and saw plenty of items. Wanted to try both the beerocks and a baked good. I asked which beerock was good (reg, carne, or jalapeno) and she said the carne asada. I said I wanted two and asked her to bag them separately. Asked her how much was the pan dulce and she said $1. She told me to grab my own with tray and tongs. I didn't see the use of a wax paper on trays. You simply place on their trays (not sure how clean that is). Another customer came in and she seems like a regular. She said the carne asada one was real good. When it came time to ring me up, she charged $15 and something. I asked why it cost that much. She said there are 3. I told her I only wanted 2m. Instead of removing the item, she spoke to the other customer in Spanish and chuckled. I told her I will take it. After she scanned my card, I got a written in receipt that read $16. Hmm. Shady place. How were the beerocks? Disappointing. read more

The best. So this place was called Lauck's bakery , when I was a kid. The best bakery in town, then and now. Trust me when I say they make Fresno's best Bierock. My great grandma was straight up from Russia's Volga river region and I've had the real deal many times. These are the most authentic tasting I've had in town. Authentic Pan Dulce. It is nothing compared to grocery story pan dulce. They treat the breads with love and put so much yumminess in every bit. Worth the price. The smells are great! Ok, I went out on a limb to find one Mexican pastry to find out this place is absolute heaven!!! My first time here and definitely not my last. I'm starting to love tower district in general because there are hidden gems here period. Staff: she was an absolute doll! Very helpful, cheerful, friendly, and very knowledgable of her products. Her personality and characteristic gave off that vibe where you can ask a question and she had an answer. I'm sure if I didn't arrive 30 minutes prior to closing I'd sit down, chat, have a cup of decaffinated cup of joe and all my pastries I've purchased. The experience was fun and new to me, never have I ever been to a place like that and it makes me want to return. Choosing your own pastries like you would your clothes it's neat. And the prices?! Hard to beat. Each pastry I picked out I took a bit out of and they are delectable, flaky, crispy and sweetened to taste. Most places they're just dry and overly sweet. I've been a long time customer. I LOVE her bolillo bread. Id buy them just to eat with butter or to make torta a with. She sells bedrocks too and they great. She also has great bread with the cream cheese and jalapeños. The bread super soft and fluffy and the cream cheese is whipped which is something I look for when buying these types of bread. I wish she'd have some with the ham, but none the less, she is top 2 on my go-to for my pans! read more
