We had a great one week stay at Wyndham Alltra Resort. (Previously Panama jacks) We visited with two toddlers in tow, and a few other family members with their own rooms. We visited in mid December, and found everything to be truly great. We went in with relatively low expectations about crowds, food, updates around the hotel, etc. The building/grounds: it's no 5 star luxury hotel, but it is well kept, clean, and spacious enough to accommodate your needs. For our family, we really loved that the layout is pretty condensed. Within a couple of minutes, you can easily walk from the kids' pool to the beach. This made it so easy to move from spot to spot throughout the day without crazy transitions. (Really the only challenge was that I didn't get a map or see a posted one, but it wasn't too hard to find things or just ask for help) The activities: the two pools, pirate ship themed water slides, and two larger slides (for ages 5-12 only) and the beach were all beautiful and enough to entertain our crew. They regularly have workouts going on, sand volleyball games, pool games, etc. There are plenty of opportunities to move and interact with other guests if you want to. The food/drink scene: we tried all but one of the restaurants for dinner (sorry casa de Rosa , the one night we tried to get in we waited too late and it was too full for a table of 6). Previous reviews raved about Viaggi's for Italian cuisine, so we headed there first. It was a very nice, upscale vibe, but we felt a little out of place with 3 tiny babes at the table here. We really loved the evening views at "at sunset", but our true fave was Azul: you've gotta try the teriyaki salmon. I ordered it three nights in a row . The room service was a great addition for days when we had to hang out for nap times, but we didn't love the food we received unfortunately. For breakfast, I highly recommend Ventanas (amazing views, indoor and outdoor seating, vast buffet and so quick!) Lunch favorite was the poolside grill for sure! They also had great tacos right on the beach. All the bars had quick service and friendly bartenders as well! We don't drink much so I don't have much to report there. Coffee drinkers -- you won't get a craft coffee here, but they serve Britt coffee and the staff is super hardworking. They'll accommodate you! Other noteworthy things: we had ZERO problems w crowds, We easily found chairs at the pool and at the beach, generally always had access to shade if we wanted it, and other than one night we were able to get a table anywhere we wanted without any issues. Our maid did a great job keeping up with our room, and generally was able to fulfill our special requests (for additional water bottles, refilling facial tissues, etc) The staff: truly the only name I remember at this point is Juan Carlos... Because he is a waiter at Azul, where we ate three nights in a row part of the reason we kept coming back, other than the truly top notch teriyaki salmon, was because he was so great at providing an experience for our family. The first night we came, we were a group of 9, and he immediately welcomed us as family and asked us a couple of questions about our dietary preferences and then promptly brought so.many.appetizers and fan favorite drinks without our asking. It was a treat! He was friendly and upbeat and the most memorable staff member we interacted with. We really had a great week, and I'm so grateful we got to come and be spoiled by the amazing staff, and breathe in the gorgeous views and silky soft white sand. read more

We are now on our fifth visit to this resort and are definitely already planning to come back for more. This is the first time we have been since it became Panama Jacks (used to be under other management) but we have been pleasantly surprised to see things are relatively the same, aside from a few cosmetic differences. Why we love it: 1. Ease in getting here from the airport 2. We love the food. There is always something good to eat and we feel safe eating it. The Italian food place is phenomenal. Since it is all-inclusive, we never have to worry about meal options. We have stayed at a few all inclusives that really sacrifice on food, but it is too notch here. 3. Staff is SO friendly and accommodating. We never feel that we can't find what we need. 4. Beachfront is clean, well-maintained, and not overly crowded. 5. Family friendly so we can bring our kids but the kids activities are kept enough separated that we also can enjoy a couples' trip and not be with kids all the time. It's truly the perfect balance. 6. This is not a party resort. It's a relaxing escape. There are plenty of time things to do but it's not crazy, drunk people everywhere. 7. The cabanas are amazing. read more

This is now Whyndham Alltra and we booked this all inclusive resort expecting Whyndham level accommodations and hospitality. We stayed here for 7 days around july 4th weekend. It started of good but with regular rains on the previous night, we woke up to a dripping soffit and waterfall walls. The water was leaking from the ceiling fan (electrical hazard) and was spreading it across the room. We called the front desk and they could only send the cleaning crew. We had to wait under the raining ceiling until noon to get another room :( this was a bit frustrating and potentially hazardous situation considering we had little kids in the room. We also experienced very limited vegetation options in the restaurants and vegetarians in our group were always limited to two buffet restaurant options. And sometimes they had to make a meal out of the options available there. Positives are the location, views and kids facilities. read more

Ok so I will start from the beginning. CHECK-IN: We had to check in with security outside and do temperature checks. Then we had to check in which took about 20 minutes because it was 3 of us in three different rooms and had to all sign paperwork.Oh also during the day they turn the A/C off in the lobby so you feel like your in a oven during the day. But during the evening/nighttime they have the fans on with the wind outside blowing so it's very cool which was good for me. Oh also be prepared to pay an additional 7 dollars when you check in because of some "travel tax" which is crazy. THE ROOMS: I was on the 6th floor with a king size bed. The room was really nice and you can make the room as cold or hot as you want. The mini bar isn't filled with just liquor. It's comprised of 4 or 5 bottles of water, three tiny liquor bottles, two cans of beer,and two coconut waters. The room was very clean and the staff did a great job with cleaning each day. THE FOOD: Ok so honestly this was the worst part about the trip for me breakfast in Ventanas was exceptional and you can order everything fresh(waffles,pancakes,omelets, and other stuff as well, the staff was attentive and always made sure everything was ok. But outside by the pool the hotdogs,hamburgers, and nachos are DISGUSTING . There was no seasoning on the food at any of the restaurants we tried except for ventanas so the safest choice is to eat there for breakfast and lunch and either go to Viaggio for dinner or go out and explore downtown Cancun for food it's much better. THE DRINKS: So if you are not a picky person and don't mind drinking bottom shelf liquor this is the place for you. The only down side is that they don't provide liquor from 11pm- 11am so you will need to get a bottle or two from downtown or the surrounding liquor stores for a cheaper price then the hotel will sell you. The bar staff was great and always made sure we were satisfied. We had a great time at the bar. EXCHANGE RATE/AND CURRENCY: Ok so coming in we really didn't know where the best place to exchange for currency was. So currently the overall currency rate is 1USD TO 20 pesos. So at the airport the exchange rate for USD TO PESOS IS 1USD - 18.00 pesos. At Panama Jack the exchange rate is 1USD - 17.50 pesos. THE BEST PLACE TO EXCHANGE CURRENCY, is at the surrounding banks they close at 5pm open at 8am. The exchange rate was 1USD to 19.50 it's literally a .5mile walk to the left of the hotel. Also if you want to tip your servers ,or anyone that provides a service I suggest giving them singles in USD they are more appreciative. TRANSPORTATION: To ride the bus it's 12 pesos a person the bus drivers will see that you are a tourist and will try to swindle you the first time I paid 36 pesos and a person on the bus told me it was 12 pesos. So learn from my mistake. Also you can pay with American singles just make sure you get correct change which would be 8 pesos. We took the bus down town to go party and then Would take a taxi back because the later it gets the slower the busses come(they come like every hour after 12am). The taxi will be like 10-15 USD depending on how many ppl and the distance. They have taxis at the hotel so you don't have to call. THE SPA: So we had a resort credit but with hidden underlines. So you can use 35 dollars of the 200 dollar credit but it had to be for the 80 min massage you couldn't use it for the 50 min massage. So after that fine print was handled we had our massages Gorgina was great and she massaged all of the spots that needed to be worked on and the sauna and steam room was nice. LAST BUT NOT LEAST THE KIDS: Ok so I understood it would be a family friendly hotel, but this was just a lot honestly. The kids were running around crazy no supervision and literally were just very loud and disruptive. Honestly if I ever do come back to Cancun it will be at an adults only all inclusive. This resort is literally for children, families, or couples. Pros:The rooms ,drinks ,close proximity to everything,and breakfast at ventanas. We had an incredible 7 day vacation here. Don't come here if you don't like children because this is a family resort. This resort had a friendly, hard-working staff. We were actually kind of blown away by how great the staff was. All-inclusive doesn't mean not tipping your staff. It was upsetting to see how many people didn't provide gratuity. Everything about this resort was fun, delicious, and clean. I think the problem is that people think they're going to get a 5 star resort without paying for a 5 star resort. We visited Panama Jack Cancun mid February 2020, and overall recommend this hotel. This is a family friendly resort, and not appropriate for a couple looking for a romantic vacation. This place does an amazing job catering to the children at this resort, and this was what brought us here to begin with. We arrived with 2 adults, 1 child and were able to check-in immediately at 2pm. I was so suprised a room was ready for us, but they even had one with 2 beds as we requested. We had the beach front walkout, and although the cabana rows block most of the view, the ability to go from room to the beach in just a few steps is awesome. The rooms were a little more "beat up" than presented on the website (as most Cancun hotels are) and was an older resort. The service is what will bring us back here again, along with the the kids pool and variety of activities. On the first day, my son was hesitant to go to the kids club, but they promised to play video games with him for 30 minutes so he ended up staying. That was an awesome feature and safe place for him to go while I took a nap. I had a massage and boy scrub at the spa, and was able to negotiate prices by bundling services. The massage area was pretty beat up, with part of the ceiling coming down. Honestly the worst looking thing at the resort. I traveled with my brother, who wanted to go on a fishing charter and was able to arrange one right at the resort with Best Day in the lobby. He caught some fish, and brought it back to the hotel where we were able to have it cooked for us. It was all arranged by Javier at the Italian restaurant, and he's amazing. They made a custom dinner for us out of the fish that was simply amazing. We visited the Italian restaurant 3 times because of Javier this week, and his attention to detail and service. My son is allergic to tree nuts and they custom made him a variety of things that weren't on the menu. The morning barista at the coffee co was great, I feel terrible I can't remember his name. He made foam hearts on my cappuccino every morning. Nightly entertainment was fun, especially the fire show. I really enjoyed karaoke in the lobby bar after too many margaritas. We loved our stay and actually visited the VIP area many times, because of the alcohol available there. I tried a couple of well drinks around the pool and couldn't handle them, the quality was just really bad. The most disappointing part of our stay was the Mexican restaurant. I am certain the employees are ashamed to serve what was called Mexican food here. The only good thing was the guacamole at the restaurant, the rest was a bunch of dry tortillas and meat. I ordered some tacos that couldn't even be described as tacos, really. My only other complaint is lack of monitoring of the reserved cabanas. I had to kick people out of our assigned cabana 3 times during the stay (one came with our room) people spilled drinks on ours, then when I tried to enjoy it, I was bitten by ants that were after the spilled Pina colada. I guess I wasn't able to clean it enough before the ants arrived. What sets this place apart from other Cancun resorts: -Kid friendly, not just kid welcome -Kids pool was heated -kids allowed at all resort restaurants -Staff are all friendly -Nightly entertainment that's pretty decent -They have Karaoke -Allergy friendly Where they could improve: -Updates of the aesthetics in/around the resort -better quality alcohol around the common areas -Food quality was mediocre at best read more

With the end of the "all-inclusive" with class in Mexico, Panama Jack's Resort is still a good bang for your buck. In fact, I've stayed at this resort under a few different signs out front. There has always been a hiccup of sort over the last 5 years, but it's so minor compared to the same price point of an Oasis hotel; or god forbid, the Crown Paradise line. This time, the check in came with someone already in our suite eating my return guest gift. Lol but, they quickly upgraded us to club level and all was laughed away. Our previous favorite restaurant, Something Pesacatore, has been replaced with Viaggio...still not open but serving the menu At Sunset. Unfortunately, this eliminates yet another dining option. While the options are sparse, the food is delicious (skip the lobster pay per gram-horribly burned, yes black burned, in the Mexican restaurant). In fact, skip that fiasco all together. Had the best time celebrating my sister's birthday here! The hotel staff were all very welcoming, friendly and hardworking! The pool is clean and there were activities such as water work outs, Zumba and volleyball matches throughout the day. All the restaurants here were good and they have live music/shows at night to keep you entertained. We had a romantic dinner on the beach for which includes three course lobster and steak. Booked a cabana with full service, food and drinks...totally worth it! They also have tequila tastings but it's only on Saturdays. Room was clean and had nice views. Esteban, Manuel, Jonathan, Zico, Lucia and the rest of the staff deserve a lot of praise for keeping this place running and making their guests happy! This hotel is now called Alltura resort. We had a great experience here. Every single staff member was extremely helpful and polite. The food was definitely better than most buffet food. I enjoyed the omelette bar and the green juice for breakfast. They have cabanas to rent on the beach in case you can't find shade. They are $80 and come with a bottle of champagne, water, beer and soda. They even bring you guacamole and chips around lunch time. Not to mention you won't get eaten alive by the sun. They have a nice gym, jacuzzi, and sauna/steam room. Another favorite was the 24 hour coffee bar. Filled with coffee favorites and pastries and fruit. Special shout out to Sergio and Jesus at the front desk for being so helpful and attentive. Overall, we were extremely satisfied with our stay!!! read more

It's not the best all-inclusive resort I have been to but I am rounding up because of the price point and the staff's hospitality. CONS: 1. Older facility. Can tell resort suffered many blows from inclement weather. Our walls were leaking in multiple areas 2. Limited dining options. This was slightly exacerbated by COVID and perhaps off-season (?)...we went during late October-early November. Our dining options included 2 buffets, 1 Mexican, 1 Italian, room service, poolside grill, and unlimited bar service. 3. Two pools and 1 hot tub. The hot tub had a sulfur smell that I am not keen on. One of the pools was basically defunct. PROS: 1. Extremely friendly and hospitable staff 2. Several activities throughout the week; especially on weekends. Many kid-friendly activities. The shows were actually pretty entertaining and consists of acrobatic stuff and dances ---similar to cruise ships variety shows. Overall, it has decent value, friendly staff, and is very family oriented. If it's your first time to an all-inclusive resort, I would start here as baseline lol. read more

I had an amazing experience at this resort, it was all inclusive, the food and drinks were amazing. The staff was very friendly as well. I got to the resort before my check in time but they let us change and enjoy the pool/beach and food n drinks. They also had covid testing on site and it's free if you stay more than 3 nights I believe. The massages were ok. Waking up to the beach was very nice as well. They served different food each day I was there. It was an amazing experience overall with the dances, games and everything else the resort had. read more

So for starters, this place wasn't terrible however I personally was not a fan of the resort. PROS: *Convenient: Not too far from the mall and authentic shops. We caught the local bus right outside of the resort for $1USD/one way. *ROOM: Room was pretty nice and the beds were comfortable. *Fish Spa: Probably the best 10-15 minutes of my life. CONS: *FOOD: The food selection was extremely limited and wasn't all that great. I was super excited when we went to the mall to order 20 pcs of wings from Hooters. Overall, the resort was alright. It was moreso made for individuals looking to lay up on the beach and relax. I'm not a beach person so I could care less. Last week my wife and I stayed at a all exclusive resort called the Gran Caribe Real in Cancún, Mexico. My review will be about therestaurants at the resort. The first night we went to the 24 hour exclusive snack bar. It included hot dogs, hamburgers, nachos, snacks soda , and even beer on the tap. The second day for breakfast we went to a Italian/ International restaurant. First we ordered a fruit cup and it was delicious. All the tropical fruit was choped up and topped with granola and Mexican cottage cheese. My wife and I were surprise by cottage cheese. It tasted different from the American version but it was delicious. Then we order chilaquiles with salsa verde wow the flavors of the salsa were enjoyed very much. The second restaurant we went is an all you can buffet restaurant called the Vabatros. This restaurant was the best all you can eat buffet my wife and have ever been too. The buffet serves breakfast, lunch and dinner they also have a bar if you want a beer or mix drink you can order one anytime at the restaurant. The food is incredible and good.The restaurant serves Mexican/International cuisine. Bring you empty stomach you will enjoy it. The third restaurant we went to have lunch it's call Gaviotas is next to the pool but a great view of the beach and ocean what a great view. This restaurant is really amazing serving good their menu. The fourth restaurant is called the Sunset Bar and Grill next to the second pool but a great view of the lagoon. This restaurant Is top notch it's like eating one best restaurant in New York, etc.. We decided to have dinner at the restaurant, We order appiziter I order a Garlic soup it was so delicious it wasn't heavy with garlic and not too salty it have a good taste and aroma. My wife order a Mexician style salad with granny Smith apple she enjoy it. For dinner I order the L'orange duck and my wife order the Condon Bleu. The L'orange duck was so good,the duck was cook perfectly nice and tender with touch orange glaze that was the duck I ever had. My wife enjoy her Condon Bleu she gave me a taste wow that was really good..Finally dessert it was so good. Overall the Gran Caribe Real resort is one best hotel we ever stay, we love everything about the hotel. Initially, when we checked in and went to our room, it was NOT what I paid for at all. When I booked the trip, I paid for a king ocean FRONT suite with private balcony. We got to our room and she had put us in this crappy room (does anyone actually stay in this room?). It was two double beds and NOT ocean front (you could only see a tiny sliver of the ocean). There was no private patio and it looked out onto the smoking patio. Gross. We promptly went back to the check in area and was given the appropriate room, which had amazing views! I loved the hammock on the balcony! I could sit out there all night and watch the stars and listen to the ocean! The room's air conditioning didn't work very well and we had it "looked at" three times during our week stay. On the last night, it broke completely and it got REALLY HOT in our room. It was 80° in there at 2am! We let them know a few hours before we left and they said they fixed it but I'm not sure the issue was really resolved. Another couple we met, had the same issue that night and ended up leaving the resort altogether and went to a different resort. As a native to Indiana, I'm not used to/haven't adapted to this kind of heat. Therefore, not having my room below 70 at night (I'm not there during the daytime), wasn't ideal but the ceiling fan helped! I loved the updated resort (I stayed there several years ago)! I loved the attentiveness of each and every staff member. Everyone was extremely friendly and courteous. I also liked that there wasn't anyone there trying to sell you anything. Almost everywhere else you go out on the strip, there's someone trying to sell you something. So I really appreciated not being bugged about buying anything. The pool could use some overhaul but I know that's hard to do. But it needs to be done sometime. They had decent food choices but some might get tired of it after a few days. Me? It didn't bother me. I liked the all-inclusive aspect and tried several mixed drinks I've never heard of. The food is somewhat bland but this is done on purpose at pretty much every single resort in Cancun. I've been told if they used the spices and herbs that should be used in their dishes, international guests may not appreciate or like that (too spicy, etc). So, there were PLENTY of condiments and sides to complement the "lack of seasoning" in the cooking. Overall, a positive experience! read more

REVIEW FOR VEGANS AND VEGETARIANS Vegans: This place is so, so accommodating to vegans! The chefs in the various restaurants actually came out to ask me what I wanted, and they alerted the other restaurants that I don't eat meat/dairy/eggs/seafood/etc.. The food was pretty good (aside from the pancakes where they just didn't make it with eggs and milk and no substitutes) but it'll take about 15-30 minutes to make. I mostly had tacos, enchiladas, sushi, and they even offered to make me vegan pizza. As for dessert, I just ate Oreos on the buffet and went to get chocolate at the Ah Cacao cafe down the street. Vegetarians: My boyfriend is veg and even the things that looked veg on the buffet, like the black beans, had bacon in it, even though said it was vegetarian at first. And he got some pasta that they told him was vegetarian but he found meat in it... So exercise caution and make sure you find someone who speaks English and can ask the chef. read more

We had a wonderful time at Panama Jack Cancun on our family vacation! The food was pretty good, the drinks were strong and the liquor was high quality. Loved my corrileo margs! I believe the resort is undergoing renovations and some hadn't yet been completed so not everything was perfect. But what has been renovated is beautiful! The bars and restaurants were so nice, the rooms were great, the beds were comfy. There could be long waits to eat if you don't go early but we figured out the system by the time we were ready to go home, whoops! The activities at the pool were sooooo fun! Volleyball, water polo, games, etc. and the guys who led the action were fantastic! Roger, Robert and Norbert kept everything organized, fun and funny! The bartenders to ask for are Armando and Jesus. They were the best and we went out of our way to go to the bars where they would be working. Armando had shots waiting for us when we finished a round! Try the "blue balls" shots, they're the best! When we checked in we were offered buy one get one free massages and enjoyed ours by the beach the morning after a big day of water skiing and wake boarding. Maria was amazing and so friendly! If you get a massage, ask for her! If you're into watersports, hit up Scott at Waterski Cancun. We had an entire day in a boat to ourselves skiing and boarding and taking a ride to a local FRESH fish restaurant on the beach. Overall we had an amazing trip to Cancun and enjoyed our time at Panama Jack. I would certainly recommend this resort and would love to go back! read more

Enjoyed my 3 day all inclusive stay at the resort. Lots of options for food and drinks. Perfectly located on the beach for some daily relaxing. I didn't particularly love any of the food I ate while there, but it wasn't terrible. If I had to pick, I'd say diner with the ice cream and the breakfast brunch were my favorites. Breakfast buffet had many food items to pick from - both savory and sweet options, as well as healthy. I did however enjoy all the drinks I had while staying. Every team member at the resort was extremely kind and accommodating. It was easy to jump on the bus to downtown and find a taxi outside when needed. I'd stay again. read more

I have nothing but great things to say about this Resort. We were at the Westin one the day before and left. We arrived here around 11:30 in the morning. The bell hop staff took our luggage and gave us a tag to call for our luggage when our room was ready. We checked in and our room was not ready yet so we got our arm bands and had lunch and were going to head to the beach. When going through the lobby the front desk staff member called us over and gave us our room keys. We went to the room and called for the luggage. It was delivered quickly. The room was amazing. Everything is new and the mini bar was nicely stocked. Every day of our stay they came in and filled it back up which was nice. The housekeeping staff were amazing they would clean our room when we left and never did we have to call for anything forgotten. The staff at this hotel are on top of everything. During our stay we were never approached to make purchases. The spa staff never came by nor did the time share folks. We knew they were there and available if we wanted to visit. We spent every day at the beach. The chairs with the umbrellas go fast so keep that in mind when heading down. They could actually use another row of beach umbrellas. They have some cabanas available for rent and some rooms are assigned them as well. They have wait staff at the beach which is nice you don't have to continuously run to the bar for a drink. They had a lot of fun activities poolside daily and afternoon beach volley ball. The kids club need some updating, but the staff were amazing and our little one had a great time there. They have a nice kids pool area and there is a couple of water slides. The food options were all top notch. The Mexican restaurant offers some amazing high quality food. We ate at the Italian restaurant one evening and the food was some of the best I've experienced. The service at all the places are amazing. Wow I am blown away. I was extremely apprehensive booking this place due to the reviews but it seems they've done major work since many of these people have stayed. Every single staff member is so friendly, greeting you good morning and saying hellos as you pass them by. Although, I could've done without being berated for only coming for about 4 days to Cancun; that's all the time our busy schedules would allow. Other than that, the restaurants are great, the atmosphere is fun and inviting, the rooms are spacious and the people are friendly. The biggest complaint I had this trip was all the seaweed lining the shore and water. Understandably, they couldn't do much about it but I was happy to see them cleaning it up outside early in the morning. They did their best to keep their customers happy. Only giving it a 4 stars because online we paid for an ocean view.. but our ocean view was covered by the chapel which sucked... Another reason why I only gave it 4 stars was because the elevators stopped working more than three times... thankfully we fixing get stuck!! Okay here comes the good parts! All restaurants are AMAZING! You either have to get there right when they open or you will be put on a reservation seat or you might not get seen. The buffers are amazing too! They change up the food every day which is nice. The waiters are nice but they always offer drinks I mean it's all inclusive so drinks & all you can eat is included so why not! The pool is awesome panama jack has activities through out the day which keeps the fun going! Jacuzzi is next to the spa (HEADS UP!- they do not allow drinks nor food in the jacuzzi area) Room service was yummy and quick! I definitely enjoyed my stay here and I will definitely be back here to this hotel! Anyone who is staying here you will enjoy it and Not regret it :-) read more

Pros -- Friendly restaurant hostesses. Waiters were okay. -- Coffee Place; Friendly baristas and good cookies. -- Very well cleaned rooms when they were cleaned. -- Food is fine though not a lot of selection. -- Good air-conditioning in the rooms. Day 2 Morning and I'm not excited about what else could go wrong. Upon yesterday's arrival and first experience w/ a bathroom not in our room, walked into the stinkiest aroma; added to that, the viewing pleasure of copious decaying fecal 'drop' in one of the toilets, This would be our omen for our stay here. Three adult bodies (one is a teenager) staying from Saturday to Saturday. After Day 2, so many things were off that I'm going to have to broad stroke this for brevity. There are the objective issues and the subjective ones. Con (Objective): -- No hot water in shower on day 1. Rest of the time it was like running the gauntlet. When you had a good temperature, it would vacillate to too hot or tepid and back to really hot or tepid. -- Limited daily water (4 12 oz bottles) in mini-fridge even if all we wanted was water (and no juice or beer). We told them we only wanted water and they said we could get only 4 waters. We had to buy our own water from the Circle K, twice, for the three of us and that's just to maintain basic body function; we weren't running marathons. -- Despite handwritten notes, we were always getting two packets of decaf coffee in our room. We wanted caffeinated. Also, we would get no more than two. When we called to ask for caffeinated, "One or two?" was the response. -- Twice we had to ask the front desk to have someone clean our room because we were overlooked or ...? -- Upstairs Buffet, one morning, they tried to not let us eat for breakfast because he wanted to close early? We stood there dumbfounded until he relented. The lady doing the omelettes was angry? "Gracias!" rom all of us and nothing from her except a scowl. This would be the last and only time we would eat at this buffet for breakfast. -- Elevators offer no more than 1.5 seconds to enter before the doors will close on you! One elevator sounds as if it may not make it every time with a grinding sound. -- Photo opportunity guy tells me I can take a photo with my phone when the iguana went on my teen's head. I had asked specifically, knowing the professional photographer was there and they would try to sell them. "Can I use my phone to take a photo?" He said, "Oh sure!" but after he had the iguana situated, said "My camera only please." So I was conned into a photo session we weren't going to pay for. -- Their website is also a lie because in several places it says "unlimited room service" or "24 hour room service" when that is not true. We tried to call at 10:50pm one evening and after 7 or 8 tries, gave up as they never answered. We tried to order dinner one night after ordering breakfast and lunch but were refused because, earlier, our teen had ordered quesadillas. Of the 7 times or so of trying to call for room service, 7 times we had to call over 4 or 5 times to ever get an answer. It's almost as if they want you to give up and go away. --One morning the pool remained closed until 9:15 or 9:30 with people waiting around because they were doing a photo shoot or a commercial. [According to the book, pool opens at 8am but not this morning.] -- Despite signs that you may not save chairs, people do, and it's not enforced. Towels on chairs ALL DAY long without anyone ever coming there so a nice spot in the shade is wasted. Cons (Subjective): -- They did not orient us when we signed in. I had no idea, though I'd read it on the website, where yoga would be. Our last day there and we went exploring and found the gym where it said 'Yoga.' Nice to know. -- When we checked out, no "How was your stay?" or "Hope you had a nice time." or "Thank you for choosing us." It was, "You need this before you can leave." That was telling. -- Buffet was average. Not a lot of selection. They do not offer you water. When you sit down they bring you your beverage but it never leads with water unless you ask (because we know how they feel about offering water all willy-nilly here.) Final Opinion: It's like the WalMart for All-Inclusive Resorts. It's only 'kinda' all-inclusive. They cater to the masses and it definitely seems about numbers for them; quantity over quality. If you don't love crowded spaces, plan on staying drunk, or have kids; but are looking for a quality All-Inclusive Resort experience, this is absolutely not the place. However, if you are on a budget and/or just need a rally place to coral the family, and/or have low expectations, don't need water or silence, this place might be right up your alley. read more

Love this resort!! This resort is perfect for anyone who does not want a crazy party vibe with too many party people around. The resort is all inclusive with unlimited drinks and food!! The price is soooo worth it if you plan to hang out around the resort. They give you a wristband to wear throughout your stay. The Italian restaurant was our favorite so I highly recommend to make a resvervatioj when they open. The beachside is so beautiful with plenty of gazebos, beds and a bar to get your drink on. I absolutely loved our stay here and I would highly recommend this resort. We came around Christmas time which had some clouds but the weather was a beautiful 85 degreee weather! Currently still in my MEXI-COMA as I write this review! Got back from our family vacation to Cancun, Mexico a few weeks ago and decided to write a review on our stay at Panama Jack Resort! I chose this resort because it is "family friendly" and I have a 3 year old. The resort is really nice, clean and the perfect size (not too big, not too small). They have 2 pool areas - one that's more for adults and a children's area with a pool and a few water slides (FYI: my son loved it). The nightly entertainment was great. The location was great, located in the hotel zone, and just a short bus ride into town! The only down size i would say was the food, which was just ehh. Nothing to rave about, i think they can definitely improve in this area. Although the food was not great, this is a great "family" hotel, if that's what you're looking for! IF you're looking to go party or have no kids with you, i definitely wouldn't stay here. Would i come back here? Yes. read more

Our first trip but we will be back...great food, great staff, great set up and just relaxing... I looked at a lot of the negative reviews on here. Most were things that were due to issues around specifics. The hotel does it's best but you wanting a specific mini bar is just ridiculous Firstly staff - Great group, well organised, friendly and efficient. Always attentive and I could not fault the organisation. There was a storm whilst we were there at night and they had people clear the water from the floors near the pool as soon as the rain stopped. It was impressive looking. Example 2 - We had breakfast and sat down at a table. Waiter took our drinks order and showed us where the buffet was. Whilst there I looked back at the table and the waiter was resolving a tiny wobble under the table whilst I was getting breakfast. By the time I had gotten back to the table with my freshly cooked excellence the table issue was resolved and I had tea and orange juice waiting...incredible. Saw the fault and resolved. Second - Setting - It's on the Caribean sea. Turquoise amazingness in the sea and they have a tiny little turtle sanctuary actually onsite with turtle nests! Third - Hotel - Well decorated and felt relaxed. Rooms were excellent and we had a sea and lake view which made the experience even better. Pools are good and because there are a few of them they don't get crazy busy which means that if you don't go at 'peak kid' time then you can swim. They have private cabana type things that you can hire for a small price and that creates an even better space if you really need it. Spa, fitness centre on site. Fourth - Food - There is all sorts here. Some really nice top quality food in some restaurants and snack in a 24 hour area. If you base your food on one restaurant then you missed the point of the place. Last - I could go on but i am someone who watches the faces of staff, and what they do when they are not interacting with people, how they work as a team and this is a place that had very little slacking off but the staff seemed happy and friendly. Suggestion- I hate to do it but we had one wee peeve. No body lotion in the bathrooms for my wife...no-one told me it would be there but it is usually there. Not enough of an issue to reduce my vote! Oh and my mini bar did not get refilled ;-) We'll go back but I am worried we liked it too much and will be disappointed by the next visit!! read more

Amazing! We picked cancun for our ahoneymoon! All the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful...we had an amazing experience here and will definately come back here! Enrique, Dania, Luigi, Angel, the DJ, all the staff at the coffee shop, Roberto(amazing, enternatining with magic shows while making our coffee) Hector with a big smile making different art drawings in our coffee foam! The waiters and waitresses were incdredibly friendly and welcoming, always serving from their heart! Vaggio italian restaurant deff went above and beyond every single time! We purchase a massage on the beach cabanas and Lorena and Mayra were simply amazing, we were so relaxed and full of energy after our massage and the fact that we could hear the ocean while getting our treat was perfect! We had a blast and loved the whole experience, and views from the hotel! We stayed a week but wish we could have stay there forever! read more

So this year we went to Panama Jacks resort in Cancun. I must say the first day there I was not really feeling like it was going to be the best experience because there were 4 things that I was very unhappy happy with: 1. The lobby is not air conditioned this includes the check in station the main bar and the awesome coffee shop.. 2. Check in took almost an hour and there were only 2 people before us. ( again not good when lobby is not a/c 3. Even though rooms were ready they would not let us get our room key until 3:00 ( which we figured out why... they wanted people in the common areas so they could try to sell u excursion/ massages/ beach dinners / etc.. 4. They were sooooo many kids we could never enjoy the pool because the kids were jumping and splashing everywhere. Even though the resort has an over the top fabulous area for kids HOWEVER............ we ended up loving our stay here because....... The resort sits right on the beach there are a few stairs to get to the sand but not many it made it easy to go up and grab a snack or use the bathroom a breeze. Our room was OVER THE TOP AMAZING!!!!!!!!! We could lay in bed and look out the window and see the beach and pool or we could walk out on our balcony and have a straight on view of the water and beach ! Every morning I would open the curtains and drink my coffee as I was sitting in bed looking at the beautiful scenery. If youve ever been to an all inclusive resort you know the food is never usually top notch but it's ok. We were very pleased w their main buffet the Ventanas restaurant There was a wide variety of food and my husband and I both loved getting the stir fry. You choose which veggies and meat you want and they cook it up fresh for you ! ( stay away from the Italian restaurant there !!!!!sorry to say but it was honestly the grossest food I've ever tried to eat) their Mexican food restaurant was good casa de Rosa and our waiter Benjamin was great!!! We rented a cabana on the beach 2 of the days we were there it was 50 dollars a day but it came w all day use of the cabana a personal waiter a special lunch menu Champaign and an ice cooler of drinks on top of drinks from the bar. You must try the shrimp chevice add avocado it's crazy good!!!! They are proud of their coffee shop which is very cute and does have great coffee as well as speciality baked goods. I had the coffee every day sometimes twice a day the MAJOR downside to it is that it is NOT air condition And when your having coffee it's not comfortable sitting there in the humid hot air it would have really been perfect if it were air conditioned. ( so get a room w a view and take ur coffee to go) The entire staff was very welcoming and attentive at all times. This resort has amazing breathtaking views everywhere It's also just a 5 min walk to the flamingo mall which is not big but has plenty of shops to pick up some souvenirs. Our children are older teens but for those of you with kids under age 12 this is definitely the place for you! They have a mini water park and a large pool as well as a padded playground water area . It was very easy to get down to the beach and ocean I repeat this because we have been to some where it takes forever to walk down tons of stairs and then u have to walk more out on the sand to get to chairs and water but not here it's so fast and close. read more

Currently still high on vacation vibes. Came here for a friends wedding, and did a five day / four day stay and loved every minute of it. I reserved a ocean front suite, we got a corner room. The view was AMAZING, I got so lucky with the room pick. We did not use any housekeeping during our stay so i have no comments on that. We had also a whole wall of windows but the rooms come with black out curtains that where extremely helpful. A/C kept the rooms cool, we even had a fan above our bed. Big shower in the bathroom, with a separate vanity outside, and large closets. The bed and bedding was extremely comfortable. We did use the TV during our stay, they have ABC, NBC, and HBO family in English. We would order water bottles for our mini fridge at night usually take around 15 min for it to arrive. The resort offers 2 buffet style restaurants, 3 formal restaurants, and i noticed 3 bars. The food was OK, I would have liked a bit more Mexican food being in Mexico. I figured it would snack on chips and salsa 24/7 but i could not find any salsa and the queso was watered down nacho cheese, and most of the food we chomped on was American or Italian. The sunset restaurant was our favorite, the tacontento is a good choice. We ate breakfast everyday at the Gaviotas, ask to sit in Fermin's section. He was very attentive and so happy to great us every morning, made a great impression on us. The one thing i defiantly recommend is going to the front desk and renting a beach cabana, we did this our last day which worked out great since we where sun burnt and hiding from the sun. They do offer two chairs that you can lay out and sunbath in out front of your private cabana. You get a personal waiter that will keep the drink coming, and they will deliver lunch to you also. We ordered the chicken wings, shrimp tacos, and a plate of nacho's it was some of our favorite food of the trip. We had Felicia and Fernando wait on us, very attentive and super nice. This is an extra charge. We did the dinner on the beach the last night, again an extra charge. Fernando from our cabana helped us reserve this. It was a lobster and steak dinner, but since i do not eat sea food he made alternative menu for me.Currently still high on vacation vibes. I highly recommend this resort. Especially if you have kIds. It's not incredible big so you using waste time walking around. The rooms were perfect. We got a suite which I'd recommend. They have two nice Pools. The best part is the beach. It is absolutely stunning and I'm a perfect location. Food could be improved but our kids loved it. Staff service is above par. read more

Panama Jack was okay. Honestly I didn't give it 5 stars because this place is kid friendly. I had some friends that stayed at other resorts that got better food too. The service was good, but the drinks seemed a bit weak and watered down. At one point the water shut off and I couldn't shower or brush my teeth. Also the tours they have there are pretty pricey so I ended up going through the pink mall down the street. The staff is great, I just would prefer somewhere less family oriented. read more

The rooms are clean and the staff is wonderful. But, half of the restaurants were closed each time limiting the options. One day a 16 year old child stole a phone and the security did nothing, so take caution when leaving personal belongings. Children's pool was closed so all children were in main pool making it hard to relax when you're getting splashed. Great hotel but could be fabulous with a little more tweaks. Edit: so after staying at another hotel, all I can say the entire stay I wished I was back at Panama jacks, the things we thought were okay, were actually not the norm of Cancun. (sunset restaurant) this restaurant is located by the smaller of the two pools. Dress code is not strict First off the restaurant is open leaving nature to wander in. There is no problem with that. The scenery is nice but on a hot day I could see how it would be an irritating situation for some who wouldn't like the elements of nature interfering with their dinning experience. (Rain, heat, cold, flies, and birds). Now for the food. (Appetizer) The Mexican Salad was fresh and crisp. The way mango and a bit of heat hit your tongue is refreshing. I'd give it a 8/10. (Main course) The pork loin was beautiful, moist and tender. The thinly sliced apples should be a new trend. The mash potatoes where nothing special really. I'd give it a 8/10 as well. (Dessert) unfortunately I don't remember the name something that started with an M. Anyways the strawberry was fresh and sweet. For the actual desert which seemed to be some sort of sponge cake and White jello on top was not that great. I expected a refresh desert that would of complimented the rest of the dinner. The taste was to separated to come together. Definitely eat the strawberry with this dish or it would not be good at all. I'd have to give it a 3/10 and would not order again. I had a chance to also taste the chocolate cake from some friends that we're sitting with me. The chocolate cake was delicious. I would of much rather had ordered that 10x over. In entirety the dinning experience was great. The servers respectful, well mannered always willing to bring you anything asked of them. The food was delectable over all experience is a 7/10 for Sunset restaurant. I rated the restaurant a 3/5 due to the lack of walls, AC, and dress code. read more
