First off, I mostly love this place. The food is great and the service of the waiters and waitresses has always been awesome. However two complaints take it from 5 stars to 3. First, the coffee. Any breakfast place should have awesome coffee. it's the nastiest burnt tasting stuff ever, and that's a sample of at least 20 visits here. There are usually even grounds in it, I mean come on. The second is more baffling. Getting a seat takes forever when the place is half empty. This last Saturday morning around 11 am is a great example. 6 couples in front of us, 40 minutes to get seated despite the fact that my wife and I counted 10 open tables. Because the line was so long I saw less than 6 couples come in then just turn around and leave. These both seem like restaurant management basics. Food was quite good-We both had pancakes. Coffee seemed above average for this type of place. Prices were good considering most places in Seattle are overpriced. It was annoying that the waitress at the next table twice walked by refilling other tables coffee but didnt even glance at us. This place is great and worth the drive for a weekend breakfast.. My experience with their menu is however somewhat limited as I always buy the same thing - french rollups. I get them topped with raspberries and whipped cream. They have the raspberries year round, so obviously they buy them frozen, but they are real and not some jam orpie filling like other places use for their toppings. The whipped cream is real. It is all of heavy cream fluffed up goodness that one could ever want. I did see some people rating this place's food as not very good. I can only assume that these are the people who love going into these "creative" restaurants where the cooks throw so much seasonings and spices into the dishes that their customers taste buds get destroyed. Once that happens don't expect to experience the subtle differences in old fashioned food. One would not expect a someone who swigs whiskey to have the palate for wine tasting. It is definitely as some others mentioned a trip back in time. Nothing fancy about the inside, but then again it is called the Pancake Haus, so there is some old German theme running through the restaurant, but mostly it just feels like some place from the 70's show. If you like bland American food based almost solely on wheat and sugar, this might be the place for you. This place seemed like a Village Inn with less options (no spinach for omelettes, seriously?), and honestly, their pancakes didn't taste any better than Village Inn's do. Their hash browns were only acceptable, not great, and all of their meat seemed to come from bulk frozen packs. Their coffee was weak and tasted burnt. I have been coming here off and on for 12 years now. This is the local breakfast place for a community that has more than the average retired folks in residence. This is my breakfast place. Its my favorite! I grew up in Edmonds and this was the place my mom and grandma always took me to for breakfast. Yes, I am being sentimental over pancakes and eggs. Came here on a Sunday morning around 11. We were seated right away but the line grew shortly after. After a bit of extended wait for food, lucky 7+2 and buttermilk pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream arrived. The bacon, sausage and eggs were standard. French toast was tasty and the pancakes were great without syrup. The menu consists mostly of pancakes and we will be back to try more. They are reasonably priced here and I have no complaints about the service. Might try another day, off peak hours so there won't be too long of a wait after ordering. read more

My wife and I LOVE the Pancake Haus! We eat there frequently. Even on busy days where the line to sit down extends out the door, we've never waited more than 15 minutes to get a table. Service is friendly and quick, the food is delicious and their coffee is fantastic! And after a delicious meal, the bill is the best part! Don't really understand the bad reviews. Went yesterday at 9:30. They were busy, but not packed. (There was a longer line when we left though) Got seated right away and asked what we wanted to drink. Coffee & waters came right away. About five minutes later, our waiter came and took our order. Mom ordered the Dutch baby, which the waiter asked what size she wanted. This took a little extra time to cook, but worth it. It was cooked perfectly and she barely ate 1/2 the "small." My hash browns were delicious, as was my ham & egg scramble. What will keep us coming back though was my husbands over medium fried eggs! Not may places can get it right, but these were perfect! Yolk just barely starting to firm up, with no snotty whites! Will come here now rather than traveling to Patty's Egg Nest. Looking forward to our next visit. read more

This is a really good place for breakfast food, better than Denny's or IHOP. You will find a lot of seniors here since this place is in Edmonds. I came here with a friend and we shared the biscuits and gravy, oat bran pancakes and the Denver omelette. They all tasted really good! You get to choose how many pancakes you want, either long stack (6), short stack (3), or individual ones. There are many different kinds of pancakes to choose from, including the kinds of syrup! Had a delicious breakfast at Pancake Haus this morning. We passed by this restaurant couple weeks ago and found this restaurant again on Yelp this morning. Have been looking for good pancake and just did at Pancake Haus. Staff and waitress are very friendly. Good with coffee refill. Food was delicious. Hubby and I both ordered the Lucky 7+2 which includes 2 eggs, 2 sausage, 2 bacon, and 2 buttermilk pancake or toast. I picked the pancake, but hubby substitute with Swedish pancake paying the price difference. Eggs were cooked just right. Bacon was crispy. Sausage was cooked with a nice pop when you bite into the sausage. Loved the buttermilk pancake. It was perfect and the pancake didn't break when you folded it. To me, that is what pancake supposed to be. The Swedish pancake was just crepe and served with lingonberry sauce. Really delicious. They also offers many different kinds of pancakes such as bacon pancake, sourdough pancake and more. Can't wait to go back to try other pancakes. Great price, good food, good service. We got there before noon on Sunday and didn't have to wait. Hope that the coffee can be stronger. read more

I was terribly disappointed with my experience at the Haus. I went with a group of girls who are in the youth group I lead. It took half an hour to get seated. When they finally seated us it was in a back room that was nearly empty! I can't believe it took half an hour to put paper napkins on the table...there were about ten empty tables all around us. They never took our drink orders, when I finally got coffee they never refilled it. After 45 minutes of waiting for our food we finally asked and got a very rude response. When the food came, we were all wishing we had gone someplace else. The only thing that was any good was the swedish pancakes. Never going there again! read more

This time, I ordered peach crepes with whipped cream. Yummiest breakfast EVER! The service is a little slow, but they warn you right on the cover of the menu. Their menu is pretty extensive. They have a tremendous amount of pancakes to choose from: classic buttermilk, oat bran, sourdough, stuffed, and even German style (as the name intimates) just to name a few.
