this is my favorite panda express the food is always fresh and the staff for amazingly nice especially Warren. He always takes care of me.

I like Panda Express, just not this one. The service is poor at best, the food is always sold out and the staff doesn't seem to care. Last visit I went an hour and 10 minutes before closing and they were out of just about everything including Orange Chicken. When I asked how long until more is made, they informed me no more for the night. Their signature menu item not being available with more than an hour to go? This incident is the least but that was the last, at least at this facility. read more

Stopped by at noon on a Monday before driving home to Ohio. The orange chicken and Beijing beef were fresh and flavorful. They were quick down the line and the restaurant was clean. Quality has declined here it seems. Some of the chicken pieces I had were pretty tough or very large. Not having knives available is kind of frustrating because you're trying to eat these big hunks of chicken. Fried rice was pretty pale too an flavorless. My wife went to this location tonight and tried ordering orange chicken. She was told they were out and the kitchen was closed at 9:05pm, yet the hours state 10pm. She gets to the window and sees a large pot of orange chicken and asks the employee if she could get orange chicken since they have it. The employee stated it was for online orders only. At 9:28pm she asked if she could get orange chicken if she turns around and places an online order and she was told no, that they close in 10 minutes. As stated in other reviews this Panda Express isn't great. I've been here probably 10ish times and each time has been between a 2-3 star experience. Today earned a review and a 2 star review. The issues we experienced today were: -Cold food in the middle of the lunch rush -Wrong drink given -Wrong charges -Not enough utensils This location frequently doesn't keep popular items in stock and the staff seems more like robots than people. What is it with the restaurants in this complex they call the "Hill". Doesn't seem to matter, they all seem to have the same lazy employees. Dirty floors, soda fountain out of a popular name brand soda, utensil dispenser messed up (I actually took it apart to fix a jam in it), and that is not the worst part. The food here is horrible. And for the price we pay to eat here this is just rediculous! The chicken dishes have very little chicken in them. Seems like the breading is what we get. It's disgusting. And no brown rice at lunchtime? I ate here for the first time a few weeks ago and had a similar experience and I told my co worker I will not come back. But I didn't listen to myself. Oh well. I ordered the plate where you pick two different meats, and a side of noodles, rice, or you can mix it and get both rice, and noodles. I ordered the orange chicken, and the walnut shrimp as my two meats; there's a up-charge for the walnut shrimp,but it's worth it; and I got noodles, and rice mixer; and everything was made fresh, and tasted delicious. This was a really good experience; I went through the drive through, and didn't have a long wait time, but often go in the dinning area, and order. It's a different experience depending on when you go, but the food is delicious when it's hot, and fresh. If it was hot, and fresh on a consistence basic I would give it 5 stars. We ordered a large catering order for about 3 dozen. Everyonne loved the food, it was really delicious and vegetarians, vegans and meat eaters were happy and full! I had never been to a Panda Express before this visit so I wasn't sure what to expect. This location is on "The Hill" so during lunch times the parking lot and in/out roads can get really busy with all of the larger businesses surrounding it. We went around dinnertime on our way to the auto show, so it wasn't too busy. The portions are okay, I got the bowl with one entree and a side. There isn't much to the entree side as the bowl gets filled 3/4 of the way with the side (rice, noodles, etc). It was nice that it was quick to get in and out, but I'd prefer a sit-down or carryout Chinese restaurant for the price. You get twice as much food for the same price and the quality is much better. The food itself was okay, not bad but not great either. Again- if you are in a hurry this could be a good option. Then again, in this area there are several other choices. Remember when Sonic had commercials in Michigan but they didn't have any locations here, then when they finally came, everyone went ape-shit? Yea, that's how I am with Panda Express arriving Downriver. My husband and I visited for the first time today. The place was chaotic but the employees handled it well. Obviously I'm giving the store slack (unlike another reviewer *ahem*) because the location just opened and this is a 100% brand new crew. Ordering was quick and painless. We were offered samples -- nice touch. I picked a one-item bowl ($5.60), and Jacob went for a two-item plate ($6.60). Everything was served fresh and piping hot. The portions were large, especially for the prices. The store was loud. The employees yell at one another when an item is out of stock. Don't come here for a relaxing meal. It's gonna be hectic. That said, there is plenty of seating including booths for four, and multiple tables for eight, The decor is very modern and bright. I loved my orange chicken and am stoked for my leftovers. I look forward to more Panda Express in the future; hopefully by then the employees will have their bearings and it'll be a little less crazy. read more

So I was really loving PE...first time I tried it after a bad experience in Wichita KS where they had no food and decided it was to close to closing to make any...so on a job in Detroit and figured I would try it. Had it a few days all great great portions good food then today I go in and it's busy so they are sloooow and having to cook stuff so good fresh and hot right...it turns out they give a quarter or half the regular portion when they are that busy so they can serve more people faster....so no I'm sitting here at work being pissed off for paying full price for reduced portions. I went to this Panda Express location last Tuesday, around 4:30 p.m. I ordered through the Drive-Thru. They were out of Crab Rangoons, which was really the only reason why I stopped there. So I was disappointed about that. I ended up ordering Black Pepper Chicken with Fried Rice. I thought the chicken was ok, a little dry to me. And the rice was bland to me as well. So the food was overall ok. I've been to Panda Express several times before at other locations, and I've always thought the food was good, so I'm willing to give this location another try. I will just try something different for next time, and hopefully they will have the Crab Rangoon's! read more

Very disappointed. My first visit here. My crab Rangoon order was extremely over cooked, bordering on burnt. I paid extra for the Shanghai Angus beef which was missing the mushrooms that are in the description and clearly shown on the menu. The entree also was spicy. Not sure I will be back. Surprisingly, good. I'm honestly loathe to spend my money here as I prefer to patronize local, more authentic Asian places. However, today I *needed* to eat lunch in a very bad way, and my first choice was terrible, so Panda Express, being very nearby, got the nod. I gotta tell you: I was not disappointed. I tried three different things (including their fried rice) before I quickly settled on their Wok-Fired Shrimp dish, which I had in a bowl with white rice. This is a Premium dish, according to them, which is simply to say "$1.25 extra". It's honestly worth it when it's done well like this. My shrimp WERE NOT OVERCOOKED, much to my happy surprise. The snap peas in pods were terrific, as were the onions and red peppers included as well. The selling point, though, was the sauce, which while tasting a bit HFCS-ey, was still very nice, with a little bit of kick, and very welcome. Note that you may want to ask for a bit more sauce while they're serving you, since it's not available after the fact...it's just not, so try to get a decent amount of it. I ate every little bit of it that I was served, and was happy to do so. I was sated, but certainly could have eaten a good bit more for my better-than-$8. Not a *bad* value, especially considering that I wasn't expecting much from Panda Express in terms of actual decent food, but not a great value, either. I suppose I could have ordered a plate and I would have gotten more, so maybe that's my fault. All in all, quite pleased with my experience there yesterday. They kind of rescued lunch for me, and made me a tolerable person for the next few hours. I was happy with what I'd eaten, and didn't mind what I paid for it...but I do wish I'd gotten a bit more for my money. Service was kind and prompt. Not much more I need than that. read more

Worst customer service pre Covid. Not sure why I waited so long to write this review, I guess this was the last straw. Drive through employee rushes you as if they are doing you a favor and they have limited food. When they ask, "would that complete your order", and you reply "no I would like", you hear a sigh and change of tone that says just go already! I cut my order short cause I couldn't deal with the attitude. When I addressed the employee she blamed it on her co workers. I decided to give them another chance especially now because I know what kind of environment we are in with "employees" post pandemic. Pull up to the drive through at 9:25pm no one greeted me through the voice box so I pulled around to the window. I see a young girl talking to her co worker ignoring me so I beep my horn and not even a look or a glance at me. Another employee walks in front of window to grab something and ignored me while food was still full on the fly. They close at 9:30pm but I guess they had better things to do. Being from California I was excited to find a restaurant chain that I have in Southern California so I walked in pleased to find the same beautiful tasteful decor and the menus being the same I went with my usual orange chicken and Beijing beef. I gave this place a fair shot before I wrote a review. The first few times I went here (or tried to?) after they opened was less than desirable. Once, their rice cooker was broken and another time they were out of everything. When I finally did get to eat here, I really enjoyed it. My favorites are the honey walnut shrimp and the orange chicken. Both are SO good. It's nice this place is drive thru, too. I will definitely be going back. Update: So. Like I said, I tried to give this place a fair shot after opening to work out the kinks but I still find it inconsistent. I brought my rating down from a 5 to a 3, because it is definitely hit or miss with service and food choices. Sometimes they don't have the most popular items on the menu, even when it's pretty early on in the evening.
