To be blatantly honest, I've never been to a Panda Express before, until the other day. I had a plate portion of Kung Pao Chicken and fried rice. Shoutout to the helpful and friendly folks that work there! They guided me through to what's fresh and good, to the not so good. This clean location had ample space for seating, and while I was starving, and the food was under heated lamps, I was skeptical. To my surprise, the Kung Pao Chicken was tasty and very spicy, which I love spicy food! Fried rice was dry. Their Rangoon wonton stars were delicious. I would return to this location in the future. I wanted to give 1 star but not for this location. My complaint has nothing to do with this location, more the corporation. To be fair the golden lantern location saved the day. We tried to order from the location we normally go to. But we can no longer call and speak to anyone - the corporate office trying to hire less people. So we had to order on line. I went to where we normally go by the house but it wasn't there. That location gave me an address. I went to that address and was told nope not at this one. Looking at the selection of food options, every single option (except for orange chicken) was depleted with less than a serving available... At 8:30, I asked the employee if they were making anything else up and she said "we have more chow mien." I asked "what about any of the main dish items... there is nothing left to order!" I try to beat the lunch crowd so typically roll in around 11:15 AM. They open at 10:30 AM... The store consistently tries to feed you food from the night before if you're an early bird... My last trip the white rice had a big brick of dried up rice... After 10 minutes as she had mentioned, she came back and asked me whether I haven't finished yet. What the... Man people are critical around here, this place definitely deserves a higher rating. I've been coming here for years and the food has consistently been really good, and affordable. The honey walnut shrimp is my go to. The employees here are always pleasant and considerate to me and my wife. We are always making jokes and laughing. I've even been given some free entrees once in a while when they are switching out the shrimp or something, which is super nice of them. Why do most southern California stores do not have sweet fire chicken any more ? Other Panda's have it as well as others not found at this location and others in southern Orange County. First issue is them being able to turn out orders in front of me while I wait for my online order that is 40mins past pickup time - all over sparing rolls. The online times always go past what they say it will take to fulfill. They just make excuses. Not about labor shortages since in the times I've gone they have 4-5 people working Latest orders had the 3rd item boxes shrink. I know supply chain is bad but no Beijing beef, no mushroom chicken and other base items. Hit and miss if they have spring rolls. The worst one is not having FRIED RiCE at a Chinese restaurant. Quick and easy take out is a win for us at this stage with a newborn. My parents were visiting us and this made dinnertime easy with their family meal to go. We got the teriyaki chicken, fried rice, chicken with mushrooms and the chicken with green beans, and the steamed vegetables. We had to wait about 10 minutes on our most recent visit for them to make a fresh batch since their trays were out. It was also convenient when we have ordered online through their system so it was ready for pick up when we arrived. A bit on the salty side but worth it occasionally to have a hot meal and plenty of leftovers even after 4 people eat their fill. Went for takeout and got Home after picking up our child. Ordered adult bowl and child's Cub meal. Child was happy about the 'surprise' meal. Opened his meal box though, and no chicken, only rice. So, we drive back to Dana Point Panda Express , about 4 miles and and asked for the chicken to be added to his untouched box, and, a refund for the Cub meal of about $7.00 for our inconvenience as, by now all the food was cold. Oh no, Margarite, the nasty manager, wouldn't have it. She offered to remake the meal, which I declined. They gave us a new larger box of chicken nuggets but was adamant about no refund. We were disappointed with our experience today. We've eaten at this restaurant for years not usually this location. They made us wait a really long time outside for our food after it was ordered and it wasn't very busy. They didn't give us the full order so I had to come back a few mins later and let them know they forgot $10 worth of food. I'm glad I checked but disappointed I had to notice. When I got home my wife said that they must have changed the orange chicken recipe and it's not very good. She told me she would have preferred Trader Joe's'. It is a fast food restaurant so I figured we would get the food fast. The server said "we just ran out of mushroom chicken and we'll have more in 5 to 10 minutes." Okay, I said. After 40 minutes (no joke) and much chasing on my side I finally got my order - a good 30 minutes after they said it would be ready. If they had told me that I would have to wait that long I would have ordered something else. They also put the two string bean chickens on the plate and the mushroom chicken on the side. So they didn't even get the order right. And there no expression of sorry for the long wait. Very brusque and rude service. There are a number of excellent and independent Chinese restaurants in the Dana Point/Laguna Niguel area who serve take out. We will definitely be going to them in the future. The times are wrong on yelp. They don't open until 10:30am...and when they do open, nothing is ready. Times on the door says it opens at 10:30am...yet the restaurant isn't ready to operate until 11:30am. The girl with heavy eyeliner asked why I was taking pictures....ugh to show everyone how unprepared you are...and as I walked up from the parking lot, 10 minutes before opening, I saw 3 people sitting around on the table doing nothing....which is probably why most of their tray's were empty upon opening...and the portions are much smaller than other Panda Express'. read more

I'll hit this Panda when I want "faster food" that fresh and healthy. Sure sometimes you're at the bottom of the tray, but I just ask for a fresh batch and wait. This is a smaller location, but Panda in general has really stepped up their game. In larger locations you can see the big transparent tubs filled with fresh vegetables. Part of me likes how they are constantly introducing new dishes like the spareribs, which are quite tasty, but the other part of me hates to see great dishes like the Kale Chicken disappear. I haven't had a problem with rude servers copping attitude like some of the reviews below. It's amazing though how attitude reflects attitude, and friendliness breeds friendliness.
