I am about to do what I NEVER thought I would do: leave a positive review of Panda Express. Asian food has become waaaay too sweet for my taste and 10 years ago when I had the Orange Chicken, I thought, Good Lord, this isn't just sweet, isn't just too sweet, it was desert-sweet. And I've never been back. Until a few nights ago. I read a long post by a Panda Express chef and I found him to be interesting and compelling Now, it's not great Asian food, but, hungry as hell, only thing open, I ordered the Pepper Chicken and Kung Pao with rice and it was not bad, pretty good, in fact. Rice was fine, I tasted the Chow Mein and it was either undercooked, not cooked, properly, or a bad recipe. Horrible chow mein. Ugh. Here's the problem: lots of the dishes are cooked fresh and that can mean a 20 minute wait in the drive-thru. I mean it, too: not 10 minutes that feels like 20; a 20 minute wait. Also, too many chefs? Online, they offer a sliced Grilled Teriyaki Chicken, and it looks great in the photo, unadulterated. It says online, "not available in all locations", so I called a nearby location around 2pm. Schlub says, "no, we don't serve that here". When I called back later with another question I happened to ask - again - do you serve Grilled Teriyaki Chicken? "Sure", said the new guy. So, one guy, on the crew, doesn't know a main entree is on the menu. That's some training! My point is, after that first Orange Chicken, I thought I'd never go back, much less give any kind of positive review, 2 stars here-and-now is a real PLUS. Yelp says, "two stars: Meh. I've experienced better" which is really pretty accurate. But that Panda Express is even in the conversation means they've made HUGE strides! read more

It's no surprise to come in here and see this low rating. Waited in the drive through for at least 15-20 minutes. When I got to the front to order the machine was pitch black and when I spoke into the speaker nobody responded. I assumed it was broken so I went up to the window and the girl Joanna I believe was her name was absolutely nasty with attitude. I can't say I'm not surprised they hire individuals like this in Maryvale. No wonder this place will never get better because of individuals like her. When I explained that the speaker wasn't working she had the audacity to tell me that she told me to wait, which clearly she didn't. Not only that but she wanted me to get back in line and wait all over again because she clearly wasn't paying attention to the line and taking the orders properly. When she began to be rude I asked for the manager and she closed the window on me. Someone else came to the window and took my order, not the manager but I figured I might as well give them my order. Maybe it's time to hire better individuals, people need to learn costumer service. Not only did I wait in line 20 minutes add another 30 waiting in the parking lot for my food. Absolute trash. Always an EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE here at Panda Express! The Manager ABBI works right along with the crew, she is awesome as is her friendly and fast workers. It amazes me how FAST the food is ready. It has always been HOT, FRESH and served with a smile! Another thing we are always very pleased with, is how the open kitchen, restaurant and even the rest rooms are always Extremely CLEAN!!! This restaurant deserves FIVE STARS all the way! The food is as good as any other panda but just expect a lot less for the money. When i asked why the family meal was in containers half the size they used to be the manager told me because of the special its a reduced portion. Checking the clock I realize by the time I get back my break will be over, so starving I pop open my meal to steal some bites at a red light- it is stone cold. They said they were having problems with the grill so the selection was limited. We ordered the cream cheese bites and never got them. My daughters chicken was burnt. Black- charcoal burnt. Panda Express...nothing new. But this one gets a review because the service alone sucked! The food warrants a "meh". I was ignored and skipped at the beginning of the line, then screwed over at the end of it. Turns out, if you order any sort of shrimp entree, it's $1 extra. Is that posted anywhere? Nope! Orange chicken was kind of bland, the shrimp were good, and the egg rolls weren't so delicious?! After all the carbs, I was ready for a nap. Wasn't enuf for whole bowl. Can't complain on survey because receipt had solid blank line running thru receipt so couldnt give proper numbers to survey and when trying with store number got reply they don't recognize store number. The portions were horrible and the food tasted stale. It's never consistent. I ordered the broccoli beef and the orange chicken. There were only about 3 morsels of orange chicken and 2 small strips of the beef hiding under the forest of broccoli.
