I was very excited to try this new restaurant in Tehachapi. We have waited a long time for a drive through Chinese place. Unfortunately I was very disappointed when I got home. I ordered a two entree meal with Teriyaki grilled chicken and beef with broccoli. I ordered steamed rice as the side and I asked for the teriyaki sauces in the side. I also ordered a side order of crab Rangoon. Well when I opened the bag I noticed they didn't put in the teriyaki sauce at all, so I just had grilled chicken. Also there were only 4 pieces of beef and 2 pieces of broccoli. There were 5 packets of sweet and sour sauce but no packets of soy sauce. This made for a VERY dry meal. The crab Rangoon was ok but the entire meal was not worth the long wait in line or the $14 I spent on it. Hopefully they will get better with time but I won't be going back for awhile. read more

Went an hour before closing and was informed they had a limited menu because they stopped cooking an hour before. Why do they stop cooking 2 hours before closing? They had no rice! My husband and I ate here the 2nd day they were open and we got our food quick and it was delicious. It held true to the usual high standards of quality Panda Express has in my experience. The portions were normal to me. Mine even had so much chicken it was flowing over into the rice in the box. I am so glad Tehachapi finally has their own Panda with the full menu of options! As for others who have complained about soy sauce and chopsticks not being automatically given, that is all things you have to request at any Panda, not just this one. My drive-thru order was literally 40% wrong (2 out of 5 incorrect dishes). When I call to try to get a refund, no one answers the phone. The food I did get was mediocre to inedible. Yep, I have to agree with some other reviews that Panda Express WAS awesome when they first opened. Sadly, for some reason, this tends to be a recurring theme in this small town. A much anticipated chain opens and for the first several months, everything is great. Then, everything goes bad. My last visit was just a few days ago. I pull in at 5:45pm and park to see a sign on the door that says the dining room is temporarily closed, yet the door was not locked and a couple of employees were sitting at tables eating. Oh well, I get back in the car and hit the drive thru. I order two bowls with fried rice, one with honey-walnut shrimp and beef broccoli, the other with sesame chicken and beef broccoli. Then told "pay with card or EXACT change ONLY. Pull around to the window." Fast forward to sitting down to eat at home. I decide that unless you are standing there in the dining room watching the employees fill your order, you get the bare minimum. The fried rice we got was half the usual portion size, it was tasteless and very dry, the peas were mealy, the carrots mushy. I received only 5 small overcooked shrimp covered in soggy breading with not a single nugget of walnut. The single spoonful of beef broccoli had a couple of tiny bits of beef (like they scraped it off the bottom of the pot) and was mostly broccoli, in a watery gravy and in large, unmanageable and barely cooked pieces that we had to eat with our fingers. We received no napkins, no sauces and not even the offer of sauces. This was more than my third try and it gets worse each time. If and when I hear they are doing better, I might give them another try, but I think I'll stick with King of Siam up the street. (They have awesome soup). read more

I'm so upset that I asked for string bean chicken breast and only got string beans! Customer service was rude when I asked for mandarin sauce for my teriyaki chicken & said it was in the bag. I think you mean Garbage Express. Because by the look of my food inside my plate, and the cabbage opposed to chow mein noodles that overwhelmed my plate, absolute garbage. My Orange chicken was soo dry and cold. This was my 3rd time at this location, thinking maybe the chef had a bad day, well WHAT DO YOU KNOW. Third times the charm for fu**ing garbage! The chef is apparently ALWAYS HAVING A BAD DAY. Holy cow!! LOL By far the worst Panda Express I've ever been too. And let's not mention the service. When I asked for more chow mein noodles and not a lot of garbage cabbage I got attitude. They need to fire the chef, and fire the attitude. I'm paying for this food! I am giving Panda Express for their hit and miss service and food, sometimes good and sometimes not so good, it all depends on the times you go, sometimes the portions are small and they have substituted some of the orange chicken where it was very very spicy and hot and did not taste like chicken and that is where I almost told my husband no more Panda Express at least at the Tehachapi location, other locations have been better, and we don't go to the drive up anymore as they do not get the order right and don't put any of the sauces in with the order and you have to go into the restaurant to ask for sauce and there is always a long line up at the window, so now we go inside the restaurant to order our food to go that is an overall improvement over the window ordering and the food is much better, hotter and more flavorful and fresh and you get the sauces you need that is if you watch them and make sure they put in with your order. Now sometimes the Teriyaki chicken is a little fatty but not many pieces, so like I say hit and miss applies to this place. We go to this location about once a week or every other weekend, but I do prefer there other locations more than Tehachapi location. read more

Change back Rip offs. At the drive through, twice I've had trouble getting my change/money back and yesterday was taken for $12.00. The first time I was shorted 20 cents, not a big deal, I pointed this out and was given the correct change. The second time, after paying at the window, I was due about $5.00. I was handed my order and the attendant turned away. I had to ask for my change. Yesterday I was the 6th car in line( anxious and hungry) I paid the window $20.79 for the $8.79 order. I was not given the $12.00 change. I did not realize this until I got home (12miles away) and my wallet also verified the short change because it only has $1.00. Panda Express was my last stop. I called them and ask to speak to a manager and they were evasive. I was told the manager "Ana" only comes in from time to time and I was asked why I wanted to talk to her. I stated it was an issue for the manager. This is a sad state, I was glad for Tehachapi to get a Panda Express, but now will not return. read more

Tehachapi Panda is a disgrace to the franchise, someone from the corporate office needs to come up and fix this mess. I have eaten Panda in a lot of different cities and towns and have all been good. Every time I have gone in Tehachapi the service and food are horrible. Like the other posts, I will not be returning. When I questioned the staff why they were out of several types of the selections the response I got was they just opened up for the day, however it was 12:30 in the day. I want to preface this review by saying that I have worked as a waitress and barista the past 7 years. I am not unaware of how difficult working in costumer service can be. Most of my experiences with Panda Express have been satisfactory and occasionally I've experienced inconsistency with the freshness of their food. However today my issue is not their food, it is the way I was downright publicly bullied by the MANAGER. I walked into this restaurant at around 1:30pm on October 29th 2021 with my family. I ordered with the manager and asked her when the orange chicken was last made. I could tell right away that this question annoyed her. Because of my past experiences with their food being left out too long and getting soggy I will usually go for a different entree or wait for a fresh batch if the orange chicken is not fresh. She assured me that because they were busy that it was fresh. The rest of our interaction was a little uncomfortable but nothing compared to what came next. We paid, left, and as soon as I took a bite in the car I knew I couldn't finish it. I walked back in and asked another employee "Shaye" (I'm uncertain about spelling) if I could please wait for fresher chicken because mine was really soggy making sure to apologize for being difficult. She agreed and I went to the restroom and took an empty seat by the register when I walked out. I heard the manager talking loudly to her crew about the inconvenience that I caused and my heart sunk. I looked up and made direct eye contact with her to which she said "I don't know why you want to wait it's going to be the same chicken" she threw her arms up, made a face at me, and walked away. A lump formed in my throat and tears started to well up in my eyes. Everyone waiting to be served and all the employees could hear the interaction if they were paying attention. I stayed completely silent out of pure embarrassment. "Shaye" continued to help get me a new bowl which ended up being the same chicken and she was the person who confirmed with me that the women who had been treating me so poorly was the manager. I shared how I was feeling with her and of course she apologized but there's not much you can do when the leader of your crew is setting such a horrible example of not only customer service but human decency. I do not want a gift card or refund, I want corrective action taken against the manager who was on duty and a personal apology from her. I have never been treated that way by anyone but especially not the manager of an establishment I was a paying customer at. read more

As far as the beef and broccoli goes it was really good just wish I got some actual beef with it. 4 big pieces of broccoli with a few bites of beef but at least it has flavor. I have been waiting for Panda Express to open and was so glad to be going through the drive through with my first order. I splurged and ordered orange chicken and broccoli beef. The broccoli beef was fine. The orange chicken was a big dissapointment. It was obvious that they had scraped the bottom of the pan. I like Panda in general. 2 weeks ago, I bought a meal and when I got home, I started to unpack it. I opened the container and my wife reached over. She picked a hair from the food. I watched as she pulled it out. As she pulled it, I saw how it lifted food. I knew we hadn't had our hair fall but rather, it was buried in the food. I called Panda, they didn't pick up, but I left a message about what happened. Today, I'm still waiting for any callback. I would have accepted an apology. I went in to get lunch at 1055 am. There was hardly any food ready it took 5 minutes for somebody to help me when they did put my food in a bowl and let it sit and waited on next customer. No drinks fountain machine out of order. I was very upset. I've been here three times and each time it gets worse. First time food was decent and fast. Second time it was fast but tasted like yesterdays food. Wasn't very hot and noodles tasted chewy like they were old. Third time I didn't get my food. Had me pull around to the front and wait. I went in after 15 min wait and they still didn't have my food ready. If I wanted to go in I would have and ordered. No reason for NO food other that they forgot. The past 5 times I came here they never have anything and always park me. 3 out of 5 times I came was during off hours so no cars in drive thru and no people inside and first like always make me wait to order, then when i do order they say 20 min wait for atleast one of my items, normally its teriyaki chicken or chow mein. Another time I tried to take a different route and I went inside to order.....it was 7pm on the dot and only had 4 items available. I asked how long before they had other items available since i figured they just went thru a rush but they told me that they werent cooking anhthing because they close soon!! I couldn't hold my tongue and said...(really wow!! Your work ethic and customer care really is on display!). Honestly im just more upset and how unprepared they are and lack of care to deliver. Went through the drive through and was told 3 minutes to get chow mein as they were making it fresh but everything else was good. Wait 15-20 minutes outside and had to finally come in to ask what was going on. They said they were in the process of making the mushroom chicken now. Waited some more time and eventually received my order. I went back to my car frustrated but still happy that I was going on my way. Upon opening up the food the chow mein that we originally waited for was cold and the orange chicken was just as bad. So apparently instead of making the orders when it was ready they packaged everything up except the mushroom chicken and then let it sit for 20 minutes. Extremely disappointed in the customer service at this location and the quality of food. We literally on tried the food and then threw the rest away. I've gone three times now. Twice this month. Both times Saturday around 8pm. I noticed two big things. Both times I had to wait for my food out front after ordering from the drive thru, to be expected, no biggie. Each time I witness them lock their doors an entire hour before their actual closing. People would try to get in because it was only 8:30 and they close at 9:30. They also didn't have most foods cooking an hour before closing. They say "would you like to see what we have left?" Instead of "what can I get for you?" I understand 15 minutes before closing... but an entire hour? Then change your closing time, no? Also this time they brought my food out and they had forgotten the two sides. So they went to get them and they gave me the wrong size when I already paid for a large. And then said they're so sorry they mis counted and they no longer have the other entre. So I spent 15 minutes out front waiting for them to forget to give it to me and give it to another customer. They then had to go back inside to correct my side order size and to get me another option from what I originally waited for. It's odd they're closing so early and low so early. Someone better help em. Jesus go on and take the wheel cause they are indeed struggling. I gave them three good tries. I'd rather pick up in Bakersfield on the way and warm it up when I get home than deal with the inconsistency. read more
