Came here on a Tuesday afternoon after the place I tired to go originally, was closed. We got sat right away and the inside was nice and quiet and empty but they say us right next to other people which I found weird as there was many many tables empty. We got two waters and a teapot at the table and we did not have to ask, they just gave it right away. We ordered the two special they had on the board out front being the sweet and sour chicken with kung pao chicken and pork fried rice for one plate. Then teriyaki chicken and pork fried rice with steamed broccoli and an orange for another plate. The sweet and sour chicken was good but the kung pao chicken had zero spice to it. When I say zero I mean zero. The kung pao chicken had a lot of veggies in it and maybe 10 small pieces of chicken. The rice was alright. The broccoli with the teriyaki chicken was cold, I asked if it was steamed because it was cold and the lady said it was steamed. The bathroom was alright as well but one of the toilets had a sign saying you have to forcefully pull up on the toilet flusher to make it go which I thought was weird. The people were nice but I don't think the pros outweighed the cons.

    Pork chow mein

The explanation would be too long. This is the worst restaurant I've ever been to. Service is awful, waitress literally didn't know any of the menu items or anything about the food. When she brought our check and fortune cookies, she just ran over and dropped them on the floor and left. That's obviously not acceptable, doesn't matter if you're trying to go fast. Use your brain Food is awful. The pork chow mein advertised is falsely advertised by objective technicality. It is served as the subgum chow mein even though the other chow meins are normal chow meins. The owner is possibly the dumbest person I've had to talk to in my life. He doesn't get how they are falsely advertising the pork chow mein. They sell regular chow mein and we ordered a regular chow mein. And then they bring us a subgum without peas and onions (literal only difference which isn't relevant to the type of dish). And he isn't lying that that actually is their regular pork chow mein. But he fails to see how that is misleading considering the other similar chow meins are served regularly, AND YOU HAVE A SUBGUM OPTION ON THE MENU. So your low iq brain is serving a regular chow mein as subgum, while naming it as a regular chow mein? When your menu specifically indicates they're different and that you have those 2 different options DISTINCTLY NAMED FOR A REASON? Not surprising, after talking to the kid. He was more confused than we were. Hot and sour soup was thick like glue. Tasted weird too. Probably old and microwaved. Fried shrimp and sweet and sour chicken were extremely mediocre. Fried rice isn't actually fried rice, so that's also a scam. Fried rice is... well, fried. What we got was just white rice with soy sauce mixed into it. And then a random heap of dried out bbq pork. This place just takes advantage of locals who don't have better options and this was the first Chinese experience they ever have when they were kids. This place would shut down in any city that isn't secluded. I'd bet the owner more money than he'll ever make in his dirty hands' lives that he would not be able to succeed anywhere outside of that disgusting spot. If he opened up anywhere in or near a major city with other options, he would actually shut down within a year lmao

This is the house plate: deep fried shrimp, egg roll, bbq pork. It's on the appetizer menu.

This place is awesome! Best "Chinese" food I have had in a long time! The service was friendly, quick and knowledgeable. The environment is clean and open. The food is AMAZING. Fast, fresh, huge quantities, and prepared with quality ingredients. Can't say enough good stuff about our lunch experience.

pho in centralia? and it's actually delicious?!…read more the historic building is so cute, it was super clean and modern while the outside has the iconic sign. it was busy at 3PM which shows how good they are - and there was a ton of take out orders too. The owners work there and are so cute and sweet! I had the pho tai and to my delight they serve nuoc beo!!! (pronounced nook-bail, which is the skimmed pho fat with green onions soaked in it - SO GOOD AND ADDICTIVE. if a pho place does it i know the pho will be good.) the pho is more southern style - sweeter, darker broth. but so so good!! they give a GENEROUS amount of meat and noodles. the pho was so good i got it twice in one day, lol. my husband got the grilled chicken, level 3 spicy. and gosh was it spicy! they make their own chili oil and paste and you can definitely taste the unique twist on the chicken. it's so deliciously spicy, it hits your tongue then lingers. def recommend if you're a true spicy fan - otherwise stick to level 1/2. they warned him when we ordered the chicken lol. will be a regular spot for us now, and will tell all our friends.

Server was friendly and patient. We did a big to-go order while traveling through town. The fried…read morerice and lo mein noodles were our favorite items. The pad thai was unique, it had a much thicker tomato based sauce than what you typically see. While I appreciate a place putting their own twist on things, I'm not sure I liked it more than other pad thai's I've had. We did ask for a few dishes with no spice, and 2 of them ended up very spicy anyway. The server taking our order confirmed it back to us, so I assume just a mix up in the kitchen. Not a huge deal, but it was disappointing for the few in our group that don't like spicy food. Not a bad experience on the whole, but I'm not sure I'd call Shanghai Cafe unmissable either.

Coming from a background where I've worked a sushi restaurant and have had really good quality…read moresushi, I was pretty disappointed with the quality served. Let's start with the positives though. The service here is friendly as my boyfriend and I were greeted and seated promptly with menus. We ended up going with their current special where you get two rolls and an appetizer, my boyfriend got the salmon delight while I got the coconut shrimp roll with the shrimp tempura for our appetizer. The ambiance here is very classy and definitely goes for a more upscale dining experience with paper lanterns, minimalistic decor and the slightly dim lighting. We got salad and miso soup but I have never seen the salad with a thick orange dressing, it was alright but my boyfriend wasn't a fan. The miso soup was okay but I really wished they put tofu or wakame. We got the shrimp tempura first and the shrimp is nice and juicy, however the breading was a bit off. It had a weird texture and taste that I have never tasted on shrimp tempura. Our rolls were dropped off and I noticed that the rolls are huge but the quality was not the great. The rice appeared mushy, the spicy tuna filling for both rolls was meh (also spicy for my boyfriend who can't handle spicy), and my coconut shrimp roll had a different sauce from the coconut shrimp as it was a spicy mayo (orange) compared to the white coconut sauce that was drizzled on the side of coconut shrimp. The coconut shrimp also had the same batter as the shrimp tempura so it was off putting and I was hoping more for the traditional coconut shrimp with coconut flakes on it. I wouldn't mind trying out the peanut butter chicken or their other entrees as I feel like that would have been the better move. Our server didn't really check in on us until the end which was unfortunate as my boyfriend needed water, especially due to how spicy the spicy tuna was.

I will start by saying this restaurant came highly recommended. The food that did arrive at the…read moretable was delicious, as was the soup and salad. That being said part of our ordered arrived after our two other meals were almost finished. When it did arrive it was cold! When we alerted the waitress she tried to say it was hot as she placed her hand on top the food! Eww! It was a rice dish it was not even steaming! Then they took it and reheated it and brought it back still not to temp. I refused the plate and asked that it be removed from the bill when some dude came to our table plate in hand arguing with me about the temp and reheat. I was beyond at that point as he insisted we except the plate. I had to leave before I said things I shouldn't. As im packing my meal to go he returns to further push my buttons and insist I take the plate that it arrived hot. Omg why did you reheat it, why want it steaming? As I walk out leaving my husband to finish his meal this guy stops me and says . Excuse me you didnt pay! Omg my husband is still sitting at the table! He will pay you! Give me a break. Pretty sure he still charged us. As my husband was paying this wise guy is still trying to off the plate to him! Experience does play a part in customer satisfaction. This should have been a no brainer. Keep your cold food, remove it from my bill. But no this guy wants a continued altercation. Disappointed.
