Panda North is great! Decent prices, good food, friendly service, unpretentious atmosphere.

We feel very fortunate to live in close proximity to this wonderful restaurant. It is simply the best Chinese we've ever had. Ever. Really. Wonderful friendly staff, full bar (drink scorpion bowls, they're the best we've had anywhere) and an outstanding sushi chef with a great supporting Japanese menu. Panda North has long been a local favorite for standard chinese food fare, but where they have in recent years begun to truly shine is their sushi. They've slowly been increasing in imaginative offerings of the hand roll variety- and even in a "standard" roll like a california they've won my taste test over the other options in town. Fish is fresh, and if you've tried a special roll that isn't on the board when you walk in (or call in) they'll still make it for you. I'm a big fan of the Queen roll and the Jazz roll myself. I'm leaving one star off because I think there is still room for improvement in the regular sushi menu- not in terms of quality or freshness but creativity. As a sushi-phile to Panda North I say- BRING IT ON! You're the only bright spot in a sushi-less wastelad. read more

Road trips are fantastic, but when you options are garbage fast food it leaves a lot to be desired. This restaurant delivered 100%. Everything we got was delicious & the service was attentive and helpful. There are tons of options for everyone and on Christmas day when EVERYTHING else was closed....this was a fantastic choice. I've probably eaten at Panda North more than any other restaurant in town. Hands down the best Chinese food in a hundred mile radius. Not only do they have all of the traditional "Americanized" Chinese cuisine you'd expect, but plenty of other dishes to choose from on their large menu - including an entire Japanese section. Although I've lived in China, I grew up eating both here and at similar Sichuan places around Boston - and Panda North continues to be the Chinese food I crave when I visit restaurants in other cities. They have so many vegan and vegetarian options, but my fav is the Buddhist Delight, which always tastes best when shared with a friend. The steamed veggie dumplings are to die for, along with the cold sesame noodles. This is often the place we meet up at for family dinners, a tradition I'm sure that will continue far into the future! 謝謝!! read more

Best sushi and Chinese food in the area!

I've lived in the area for 15 years, and it is still beyond me why so many people like Panda North. Everything I have eaten here is bland, and I would never bring guests because the exterior looks like a dump. Maybe I was spoiled by working right outside of Chinatown in a major city for several years, but there is definitely better food in Bratt than this. read more

Nice place, lots of seating. Unfortunately both the mister and I found the Japanese food very disappointing, but I guess that's to be expected at a nominally Chinese restaurant. The Chinese food was definitely better, though the rolls we ordered off the specials board were pricey and small albeit tasty. I've been coming to Panda North for close to 20 years now. A good reminder never to judge a book by it's cover. While the exterior could use a bit of a refresh - on the inside the food is delicious and the service is quick. Among my favs on the menu are the sesame chicken, chicken and broccoli, bbq spareribs, and the garlic eggplant - though everything I've had has been great. The duck sauce and noodles are worth the extra up charge. Lunch specials during the week are a steal - with a smaller menu at about 1/2 the price of dinner w/soup included. Portions are very generous. They have a full sushi menu that many enjoy as well as a full bar. Good for groups and families. read more

Stopped at Panda North while in town for work for a late Monday night dinner. I ordered the miso soup, edimame, shumai and two rolls - futo maki and spice yellow tail. The miso soup was light and delightful, edimame perfectly steamed and just the right amount of salt. The rolls were good, but the shumai was amazing. Perfect sized, lightly textured with great flavors that melted in my mouth. Great subtle flavors... The food was unbelievably priced. My meal which would be much more expensive anywhere else came to about $25. The service was great with good timing and attention as needed. read more

Always a favorite. Lived here my entire life and have never been disappointed by the quality of food. Usually have take out from panda north, but every once in a while I eat in and the presentation and staff is always nice. Triple delight is always a favorite. Great food! Great Service! Nice and clean dining room. My only concern is that they come to the table a bit too often and seem to want to get you in and get you out so they can turn the table. We've been to Panda North a dozen times over many years. At best it's OK, but nothing especially creative or interesting. At its worst, it can be just plain wrong. This was the sorry case our most recent visit. My partner had pork Pad Thai. For some tragic, inexplicable reason it had barbecue sauce in it. Words cannot express how terribly wrong, wrong, wrong it was. My dish was OK but out of balance with way too many green peppers and barely another vegetable in sight although many were listed in the description. If this had been my first visit I would have given it one star and never returned. Previous experiences have been better than this. To make a bad thing worse, the waitress was wearing such a heavy dose of perfume that we were both gagging. read more

Stopped here for Christmas day because it was open and we were hungry. It actually turned out to be a nice experience. The place was packed around 7:30pm, so we put our name on the waiting list for 2 with 6 tables and some reservations ahead of us, the wait time wasn't that bad, we were seated within 20 minutes or so. The waiter doesn't smile but he is actually really nice and very attentive, he has a sarcastic type of humor. We ordered hot and sour seafood soup, chicken with spicy tea sauce, and pork with black bean sauce. Everything came out quick, they kept our water glasses and tea pot full. Chicken was tender, large pieces, and spicy tea sauce was good. The tea sauce had a hint of spiciness but not over powering. Same with the pork, pieces were shredded but very tender, not chewy, easy to bite through. Both dishes go well with rice, cause there is a lot of sauce and on it's own would be too rich, but with rice it's a good balance. I also liked that they did not put a lot of onions in the dishes but instead used napa cabbage for the crunch, so each dish had enough soft and crunch to it to allow a pleasant texture and some vegetables to make the dish pretty but also to give you a small break from bites and bites of meat and rice. So we have eaten take out twice before and thought we should try the dine in option. Tonight we were a table of three. One of the people at our table has a severe gluten sensitivity (not celiac) and wanted a bento box. We informed our waiter of our situation and asked to substitute the shumai with a roll, even an avocado roll. He said no, no substitutions are allowed. Other spots that we have eaten in before will substitute for a small up charge, but not here. We informed him of the spot on the menu that suggests informing the waitstaff of any food allergies. The attitude was very nonchalant, which we all found unacceptable. One person at our table did not receive their meal until the rest of us were about done. The tempura appetizer was not crunchy, but more soggy. Then we got the bill and was charged for 4 $20 meals, but we only ordered 3. We had to wait quite a bit for someone to be available to correct our bill. All in all, the experience left us not wanting to go back. read more

Panda is really good and inexpensive Chinese especially for lunch! They do all of the basics significantly above the norm and specials and sushi are especially well done. The staff is really great and the setting is traditional and very nice. In the Town of Brattleboro with all of the Chinese options this is the best by far! Don't sleep on this hidden gem of lower Vermont. I heard there is a really good chinese restaurant in Burlington, but who wants to go up there. Panda north does regular chinese food, just done well and kinda expensively (for the chef's menu). I had the House special chicken, which is like general gou except one million times better. it was actually crispy! I dont really eat meat but I made an exception for the sake of this review. Other dishes sampled on a recent trip there was Vegetables in Garlic Sauce, way better than average sauce with a little bite on the end (despite the fact that my sister requested not-spicy). I also tried my friends HomeStyle Beancurd, which was a little too soupy. Recommended for fans of the questionable "brown sauce". one other time we went there I split a scorpion bowl with my girlfriend. they denied my request for a free refill. the service is fine and the restaurant is clean. one one final note, they have a gigantic sign on the roof of the building that simply says "TEA". i like that. read more

Quick friendly service with ample portions. They serve a kinda appetizer with a sweet and sour sauce and "chips" that sets a good mood. If you want ambiance or decor, you may be disappointed; the place is simple and somewhat barn-like. My spouse ordered Kung Pao chicken and I had shredded beef; both excellent.
