I'm typically a Panera fan. This is not my usual location. Our experience this evening was well below satisfactory. My daughter ordered a strawberry banana smoothie. Sorry, out of bananas. She ordered a meal which typically has choice of side of baguette, apple or chips. Sorry, out of baguettes. I ordered French onion soup (which I usually love at Panera), they served it to me with about 12 slivers of cheese and no croutons. I went to ask for the croutons. Sorry, out of croutons. Went to get my typical ginger hibiscus tea drink. Watered down so it was nearly clear. My kids both got chocolate chip cookies. Hard as rocks (they were ok once we asked if the could heat them a bit in the microwave.) Wow Augusta Panera Bread, you need to step up your game. I think I'll stick to the Topsham location (although they are also often out of bananas and baguettes). read more

Best cheddar and broccoli soup around and gotta had the baguette with butter. The pecan bread is amazing and my gram loves the chocolate dipped macaroon s. Not the best Mac and cheese but these college kids goes nuts for it when I'm in. read more

So disappointed ! From Bangor, so excited to have Panera Bread! Got the steak and cheddar. I question if this was roast beef. Sliced and just a hunk plopped on a roll. I love Panera Bread! It is one of the best chain places out there. I got the broccoli chedder soup in a bread bowl and the childs mac and cheese. The soup is creamy with whole pieces of broccoli in this sour dough bread bowl. mmmm : ) The mac and cheese is one of the best that I have had for a chain restaurant- even better than most restaurants actually! It is shells and SUPER thick and creamy. So good! The ONLY thing I was a bit weirded out by was that the mac and cheese was heated up in plastic packet right in front of me and put into the bowl. Weird yes, considering they always market how "homemade" everything is, but not weird enough to make me not order it again. There are a lot of seat in the place and out door ones as well. However the tables are fairly close together so get a booth if you can. Nice service, but they all look like they hate their lives there. read more

Just had a horrible experience. Jessica (glasses blonde hair in a ponytail) was standing at the counter while my friend and I were trying to read the menu. She asks us if we are ready to order and we are not so we stay where we are and say we are still looking. She then says to the employee next to her, "Well, they looked ready but they're not ordering." We went to look at the other menu and as we did this, she told a cook to shut up and then motioned her zipping her lips. Then she said she would rather kill her self than get married. I wasn't listening to the rest of the conversation but they're is a 5 year old sitting next to me as she is talking very loud about killing herself. Also, Abbi (another employee here) was very rude when we asked about a "bread bowl" mocking us because she thought it should be obvious. Very poor customer service. read more

Every time-and I meant every time-I come to this specific panera, they never ever have menus...EVER! I want to order something different other than the first thing I ever got here years ago. Then the cashier tells me they will gladly tell me the ingredients while there's a line waiting to order. I have boycotted this Panera because I simply can't look at my ingredients. Seriously, how do you never have menus?! They're made of paper, either print more or laminate a few to keep at the register that won't "disappear." read more

I went to this place because I wanted to try the new tomato mozzarella flatbread. So I ordered one and instead I got to flatbreads one was Asian with something and the other one was flat bread with tomatoes inside and rubella but no mozzarella. The lady at the counter never ask me any questions and I ended up with two sandwiches and a bag of potato chips which I ended up throwing away because I didn't want them. Never offered anything to drink or any other treats. I really like Panera but disestablishment is to avoid. read more

Messed up the entire order when I ordered it from the app. Ordered a sandwich an all they put on it was meat and bread a piece of lettus was supposed to have avacodos on it and i even paid extra for it. Was supposed to get a baguette and didn't that get that as well. Ordered bagels and wasn't given cream cheese. Bad experience overall. Didn't get what I paid for! Family of 4. Two sandwiches for adults. 1 grilled cheese and one mac and cheese for the kids. Just under $40. Not sure if all Panera Breads are the same but the ordering area is a joke. First you have to walk through half the building to get to the counter. To see the menu you have to stand right in front of the cash register either in front of other people in line or with the cashier wanting to know what you want because you are right in their face. The menu faces towards the side wall, not the front of the building as is customary EVERYWHERE else. You have a small little corridor you have to go stand in to see. No room at all. Then after you order and have to sign your receipt there is no place to set the paper down because the counter is completely covered with random stuff. There is literally no counter space between you and the cashier. Just a wall of stuff. Now the food. AWFUL. Had the chicken salad and it was the worst chicken salad I've ever seen. Note to Panera Bread. Chicken salad isn't just under seasoned chicken and mayo. I didn't think it was possible to make a chicken salad that poorly but they pulled it off. Everyone else was moderately happy but they should have been for $40. This place can go to hell. read more

Great restaurant with great food. They sometimes have things that are vegetarian and vegan which makes it extra nice.

Even when they're at their busiest (which seems like all the time) food is delivered to the counter quickly, and is always hot (if it's a hot dish) and fresh. I've never been disappointed by anything I order at Panera. Today I got the asiago roast beef and the asiago bread is to die for! Yum! read more

Delicious soups sandwhiches and salads. There is nice selection of delicious treats. I feel this chain is always over priced but always consistent with their product. The wait times are always long. They now have an online app to order ahead to cut wait times. I will have to try that out next time. The tomato basil bread is my absolute favorite. I would eat it everyday. This place needs to get some adult supervision. Two of us ordered the exact same sandwich and got two different ingredients, one of which had no ham on it and two tiny scraps of chicken, making the chicken pannini sandwichbasically two slices of bread. I brought it back and after being ignored while the yound man behind the counter had a conversation with one of the girls about where they were going that night, he asked what was wrong. When I showed him the sandwich, he said it was just missing some ham. So he reached over and folded up two small pieces of cold ham and laid them on my sandwich. It hardly made a proper sandwich and after another small argument I went back and got the other sandwich which was made better and had more content. He shrugged his shoulders and made a comment of the other one had too much meat he must have made a mistake. We need some grown ups in here to help with portion control and customer service. read more

While I used to frequent this Panera often, I hadn't been to this Panera in years and after the most recent visit, I will not be back. The visit was way too frustrating and they showed zero concern for their customers. Upon arriving at lunchtime there was the expected line of 8-10 people (not an issue). After waiting in the line at the sandwich menu area for about 7 minutes, we were second from the register and the cashier decides to then inform the line that her line was for card paying customers only. We (along with others) who had been waiting in line would need to go over to the bakery resister to order lunch. This line was another 7 minutes or so. The cashier there was clearly frustrated as she had 8-10 customers and the other cashier suddenly had one. Not to mention her customers couldn't see the menu they were trying to order from so it took even longer and didn't help her frustration. Finally we are at the second in line spot again... and we are called back over to the sandwich registers because SUPRISE! They do take cash! After finally ordering, the order was misheard so we got the wrong food (which they corrected but I did not feel like waiting in possibly the "wrong line" again for a price adjustment). I expressed to the manager how this visit had been frustrating. He did not ask why. He said "Okay. Have a nice day." Food overall was fine but not as good as it once was. read more

Traveling on a road trip from Quincy, Ma. to Van Buren Me. I stopped into The Augusta Panera Bread. On Wednesday afternoon, we had the French onion soup, and I like the Asiago Cheese instead of the newer cheese that comes with it. The cashier was VERY friendly, and actually went to the woman on the line and told her to change the cheese...!!! After we finished our meal and checked out the place, which was VERY clean, and comfortable, I took out MY Panera Black trainers hat, and put it on, and walked over to the same cashier, and asked for the MGR. I introduced myself, and told her I worked in Quincy, Ma. 8 yrs, and we talked and I asked if I could take a picture, and she let me behind the counter, and my friend took a picture with about 5 co-workers, it was so COOL. Our most recent trip was awful! We ordered and never received our beverages. Our meal was ready and we stood at the counter waiting for our beverages. When I spoke up, we were "brushed off" as irritants and was told it would be a minute. The manager was no help...just part of the problem. When I told her that I felt they were not organized, I got a dirty look instead of an apology for how long we waited. We almost sent out meal back since it was drying out on the counter while we waited for beverages endlessly. The cafe was not busy so there was no excuse. If you are going to have a separate area for making and picking up beverages, you need to staff that area. I contacted the main office of the company and was told I would get a response in 5 days and that did not happen. I will not be going back to this location or any other location since they don't address the issues. read more

I showed up on a Saturday at suppertime. The lines were long, both waiting to order and to pick up orders. I used the time to decide on a soup and sandwich combo with a cup of coffee. I wanted to get back on the road, because I had 2 plus hours of driving to get home. When I went to get coffee, the tag said that it was made at 4:33, which meant that it was over 2 hours old, and COLD! The person at the "bakery/coffee" register didn't seam to care, and offered no newer pot of coffee. When I got my food the soup was COLD. The avocado was not slices, but chunks, and they fell out as soon as I picked up my sanwich. Glad for that, because I noticed that they were that gross rotten kind that were all grey/brown lined. EWWW! HORRIBLE! I am never going back! I was so mad I even called the manager the next day when I was home. They SAID they were sorry, but even so I gave them my name and address, I never received a refund or any communication. So crappy management too. Forget the joint! read more

I sent my husband in to order me a bowl of soup and a turkey PANINI. He was confused about which one I wanted. I told him over the phone that it didn't matter. All their paninis are good, as long as it has turkey for the meat. Still confused and without ANY help from the woman behind the counter he unknowingly paid for and received a cold turkey sandwich. When I went in to rectify the situation I informed them that I am pregnant and can't have cold sandwich meat, and my husband actually ordered a panini. Instead of making it right by making me the sandwich we tried to order, they were lazy and just toasted the cold sandwich they had given us originally. I don't know anyone who likes hot lettuce... I wound up taking EVERYTHING out of the sandwich and eating the bread and nothing else... Customer service was pathetic and the staff was so uneducated regarding their menu that they couldn't even give my husband a list of their turkey paninis. $30 later and we will never be returning. read more

wish i could say this place was consistent. sometimes i order things and they are perfect. other times i get rock hard pastries and rotten lettuce in my salad. the smoothies are always a hit with me though as they are made to order. sometimes the people working there tend to get a little carried away with personal conversation and don't watch what they are doing when making your meal. it is pricey to eat there so i expect better from them. though the setting there is perfect. quiet, and peaceful (most of the time) and free wifi. first thing in the mornings, the pastries are to die for! read more
