I used to be such a Panera fan-that sadly changed after my last trip. The food tasted fine-the smoked turkey sandwich was decent-though very salty. The problem was the place itself- 1. The sandwich making area was littered with food scraps, dripped sauces, food on the floor...looked like a mess. It wasn't busy-so it seemed like it would have been reasonable to clean it up, especially since the food is made in view of the customers. Subway is much cleaner-I'd expect more from Panera. 2. If you get soup, you may as well save yourself the money and go to the grocery and buy a can. Maybe I was naive to this before, but seeing a worker take a single serve bag of soup out of the microwave and pour it into a bowl blew my mind. Maybe others aren't as surprised by this as I was...but it lessened the fresh feel of the restaurant to me. Usually, I'm happy going out of my way to go to Panera, I think I'll be having second thoughts next time. read more

I don't often write bad reviews but I have to say this one deserves one. The food is overpriced, the service sucks and The stuff I used to like about it has been pulled off the menu. The only good thing I can say is the Mac and cheese is good but I've had better for less. Let me start this review by saying this: I LOVE PANERA. I love their food. But this location does not have it's act together most of the time. More frequently than not, they mess up my order, overcharge me, and often it takes them 2-3 tries before they get my order correct, and most of the time, they still don't refund me for overcharging. I've also seen kitchen staff (including managers) not wearing hairnets/gloves. Occasionally, they DO get my orders correct, and the food is fabulous. Other times, they get the order correct, but give me half sizes instead of full...which half the time I don't even bring up because when I have in the past they treat it like it's a big hassle. I've also been treated like a criminal for asking for soy milk for my coffee. I still come here because it's convenient and I love Panera's food, but I would just really appreciated if they could consistently get orders correct! When they do, it's awesome! read more

I have to admit that I do like the Panera Stores and use the greenfield location as well as the Mayfair locations quite frequently however on Sunday this past week I did an online order with the Calhoun location for a dozen bagels to find when I stopped at the rapid pick up station that my order was never completed. I did find this strange considering I received a text telling me the order was complete. Now I truly understand that this could have just been a simple error. I spoke to a young lady who promptly got the order filled but in watching the gentleman who completed the order he never paid any attention to what the order said. I did not want the bagels sliced because we intended to freeze some of them. When I mentioned that to the young lady who helped me she then went to correct the issue but seemed to get some attitude from the gentleman she asked to correct the issue. When I took the order home I found several bagels with partial slicing. I do understand it being hard to get good staff these days but the more I travel to different locations of many restart chains this is not always the case. I also had a 25% coupon that I was not able to use on line because the program would not accept. I am not looking for anything just passing along the information to the company. There's nothing like fresh baked bread and pastries! Our recent brunch at Panera included a Spinach & Artichoke Souffle w/ a croissant crust (2.99) and Sierra turkey on sour dough bread (5.59). Both were good but I thought for the price there could have been twice the amount of turkey on the small slices of bread. Tomato would have added a needed touch. It was nice that there were free samples of bagels w/ cream cheese to try. We took home another souffle and some bagels. I wanted to take brownies and German chocolate sweet rolls but you have to draw the line somewhere! read more

Today I ordered curbside pickup, it worked out very well. Fast service. I had a greek salad and autumn soup - they were both excellent. You can have an apple, potato chips or bread with each item. Ordering was easy, meal outstanding and at a good price. Curbside was fast. Everyone was pleasant. Highly recommend - a must visit. read more

i ordered a rapid pickup, but my friend picked it up for me. therefore she didnt check the bag because she didnt know what to look for. we got a burnt bagel (without cream cheese, but ordered it). we also got a chocolate chip muffie, but we ordered a pumpkin muffin. the second picture attached is just an example of the waste of paper and plastic they use. it is not necessary at all to put those plastic cups in a paper holder. read more

I really enjoy their food when I need a quick healthy bite during the work day. Service was fine, however, some of the empty tables were left very crumby. Not a fan of that. The quality of this restaurant has declined significantly over time. I have met others here for work 2 times in the last month. The prices have gone up as the portion sizes have gone down. If you order a half sandwich it is more like a "quarter " sandwich. Tonight my food was inedible..." toasted " cheese sandwich was cold and not toasted.It was advertised as " 4 cheese : but there was a bare smear of something, didn't even cover the bread. Panera in general has nice food and a calm atmosphere, but this one specifically I find is consistently raising my expectations. There is always a nice manager on staff who strives to make sure your order is correct and efficient, and if it's not they're right there to compensate you for it. The employees here seem to have pride in their jobs and I always have a great experience here. This time I go and check my carry out bag to make sure the order wash complete and the sandwich wasn't in there - at least I caught it before I left. Panera is great for a quick lunchtime meal. The Smokehouse Turkey & Steak with White Cheddar Panini's are incredible. I also like the Asiago Steak sandwich on sourdough baguette. The Broccoli Cheddar Soup in a Sourdough Bread Bowl leaves my stomach a happy camper, especially when I get to eat the bread bowl that has soaked up some of the soup. Mmm .. I'm craving it as I write this. The Asian Sesame Chicken Salad is delicious! The combination of sweet/nutty flavors and crunchy/chewy textures is fun for the whole mouth & it's a bonus that the dressing is not too sweet. You cant go wrong with Thai Chicken salad either. The breads & bagels rock. But, the bakery / pastry items pretty much suck! They're totally dried out & lacking flavor. Plus, Panera is way overpriced on their pastry items. I wouldn't mind the cost if the stuff was good. Stick with the Danish if you want something sweet. The staff members at this location are always friendly and efficient. But, the place still has quite a line during the morning & lunchtime rush. Lunchtime usually finds sandwich assembly area a mess with food scraps & stuff allover the floor. I'd expect better from Panera. The restaurant is good size. Although, the entrance / exit is a bottle neck with consecutive single swinging doors to accommodate both directions. It should be referred to as a BUTT FUNNEL. You'll end up rubbing butts with patrons coming the opposite direction while passing through the narrow vestibule / mud room.. Parking is a breeze, the strip ,mall lot is enormous. read more

Cinnamon Crunch Bagel! Delicious! Again another dessert for breakfast, but really I am a "grown up" I can do what I want. They are really quick with getting bagels and drinks out, so if you are picking something up on the way to work, you can drop in and be out fairly quickly. The coffee always seems to be brewed just right, never had a cup that tasted burnt here and that is big for me! And the great thing about this one is the large amount of seating. The only downside, the closest ones to me are still a decent drive. I hope they put one in on Sunset at the Fox River Plaza...that is what is missing! read more

I love Panera, but I know it's not really anything too special. I have been a Panera fan for some time, but I am losing my interest after my visit today. I ordered the Pick 2, with Broccoli cheddar soup and the Mediterranean Chicken Quinoa salad. While it tasted good, the meal cost $9.00 and the portion sizes were ridiculously small for the cost. I had way less than an ounce of chicken in the salad and far less than an ounce of Quinoa. The Kale in the salad was NOT prepared correctly by removing the stem and all I got was hard crunchy stem! This place tried hard, the staff is always friendly, but I won't be back to Panera in general due to the overly conservative, poorly prepared portions sizes. read more

Panera is a very well done chain of bakery-cafes, with a large selection of pastries, fresh sandwiches, salads and soups. This location is in the Ruby Isle shopping center, so there's plenty of parking in the big shared lot. It's a good place to catch a bite to eat while doing weekend errands. It's a great informal place to go with friends and family. You order at the counter, find a seat, and wait for your order to be called. The restaurants are large, welcomingly homey, and clean. I love the perks card that always surprises me with a free treat accumulated on it. This latest visit, I beat the lunch rush and went in at 11:15 to get lunch to take back to the office. I had a gift card so I went a bit out. Usually all food is ordered on one side and bakery on the other, but the lovely girl on the bakery side helped me out. I of course ordered a Pick 2 of soup and salad and then treated myself to a smoothie. The girl was extremely friendly and bubbly and told me to listen for my name called in 2 different spots. The smoothie was called first and it was deliciously creamy and hit the spot after a long meeting. Then I was called for my soup and salad and even though I had about 30 minutes of driving and review when I got back to the office, the soup was still piping hot. Decided to take it back but had to drive 6 miles to get there and 6 miles home. The cashier had no idea what to do so I asked for the manager and she did not sound surprised. I was extremely impressed with the staff at this Panera location. I went in during the busy lunch rush, and everyone working was extremely efficient, as well as polite. This is even more impressive, considering the average patron that came to Panera at the same time as me - more often than not, the lovely Panera staff has to deal with the cream of the entitlement crop, people that can't be bothered to put their buzzer in the basket as requested (who me, walk two feet to the left???) nor make eye contact with the employees who keep answering their ridiculous questions with a smile. The food is good, obviously consistent throughout Panera restaurants, and the rewards program helps to offset the higher-than-average lunch prices. If only we could fill this location with customers who are appreciative, polite, and unpretentious. read more

The food is pretty good but the staff really needs to work to make the place more enjoyable to visit. I recently got a bacon and egg breakfast sandwich with two bits of bacon about the size of a couple of postage stamps. Took it back and they made it again but only added a bit more bacon as if they are really rationing it out in case there is a sudden shortage. I noticed the carpet didn't appear to have been vacuumed in quite a while, with bits of food all over the place. I havent been to this location in over a year, theres a display island less than 30" from the counter and right in the middle, so nobody can stand in a line. I was skipped twice by staff until I stood right up against the counter. People pushing each other and me out of the way of this gift card island because theres no napkins on the also-too-close coffee island and people looking for them here... I order the first thing on the menu, im not picky. It was $5.08. Shes ringing it up as $9-something. I said "isn't that $5.08?" And I point to the sign. "Oh, thats a half" she says. Ok, fine. Doesnt say that unless it's a small font I cant see. "Asiago or (mumbles)?" Me: "what's the difference between them?" Her: "I don't know" Me: "okay, asiago" Asked what I want for a side, offered chips or apple. I say "apple". She says "apple?" I say "yes, please, apple". Apple is printed on my receipt. Asked what my name was, told her three times politely, then spelled it. Still got it wrong. Its only seven letters. They politely delivered to my table... I'm given chips. I return the chips, having to watch my computer and belongings at the same time. "I was supposed to get an apple" Three minutes later or so, im given an apple. IT WAS FROZEN. This is 7:31 when I ordered...why would one be frozen? I look at my receipt. "Your order should be correct every time. If it's not, we'll fix it right away and give you a free treat for your trouble" No treat for the chip/apple mixup. As I read this, I notice she charged me an extra dollar for the sandwich. It's 10:38 now, I'm still here, and my apple is still frozen. I came here because Baker's Square is closed for remodeling...I'll probably never come back. Employees have been talking about some mild goofy workplace drama event in front of customers...kind of inappropriate...doesnt bother me personally, but one of the girls has this ridiculously cartoonish voice and she is LOUD. I thought someone was doing a character voice. It wouldnt have bothered me but everyone behind the counter wont stop talking. Sheesh. These are personal peeves at best, but when you dont know anything about your products that are a regular menu item and dont bother to ask anyone for me, dont charge the right price twice, dont spell my name right, dont get my order right, give me an obviously frozen apple, dont give me the promised treat for messing up the order...well...something's wrong. I went in this morning around 8:20 to order a bagel and cream cheese for myself and a cinnamon roll for my husband. I was one of 2 people in line when I arrived and there was ample staff on hand. Of the 3 things in my order, 2 were wrong. I received the wrong cream cheese and had to go back inside to retrieve the right one. Upon further inspection when I got to work and cut into my bagel, it was clear I was not given the plain bagel I ordered, and instead was given wheat or honey or something of the sort. Working in customer service myself I understand things happen, but for them to not be busy and to mess up over 50% of my order is a little harder to stomach. I give 2 stars just because the woman who helped me, was nice, just not attentive. Disappointing! read more

do NOT order for delivery from this place. i live 1.5 miles away and it took an hour and a half to get here not to mention we called and complained TWICE and was told the manager will drive it over personally. a half hour later we call again. was told im receiving a refund, NEVER GOT A REFUND. so didnt get my money back when the driver ran off with my food. i recommend another panera if your asking for delivery even if its farther away. dont take the risk from this terrible business. read more
