To be completely honest, I had never heard of this place before. My friends and I were originally…read moreheaded to Sonny's, but there was a two hour wait so someone suggested we try this restaurant instead and I'm glad we did. It was a 10 out of 10 experience overall. The service was fine but the food really stood out. I ordered the burger and fries which were surprisingly delicious. The chips and queso were also really good which says a lot since I'm not usually a chips and queso person. Prices were very reasonable as well which we all appreciated. My friend ordered the mini crab cakes and loved them especially because they weren't heavily breaded. Overall no real complaints except one of the lemon drops came out without the sugar rim that was listed on the menu and our server did not seem interested in correcting it.

A Hill Country Gem Worth the Drive…read more Hatch Café & Bakery is a cozy little gem in the Bulverde Hill Country. The indoor and outdoor seating gives it such a warm, relaxed vibe, and the bakery case is always stocked with cookies, danishes, muffins, and more. Their menu covers everything from brunch to sandwiches, burgers, and salads. I brought my family visiting from North Carolina, and it was the perfect spot. I had an amazing cappuccino with oat milk and caramel, and my go‑to favorites -- the Chilaquiles Hatch and French Toast -- were just as good as always. Service was A+ and a must‑try if you're anywhere near Bulverde.

Small-town feel, big ambiance! Not a bad seat in the whole house on a Friday night. From the moment…read morewe arrived, the staff made us feel like family, even on our very first visit. We started with the brisket fries, which were savory, loaded, and the perfect appetizer. For dinner, the country-fried chicken did not disappoint, and the mushroom Swiss burger was just as good. Definitely can't forget the generously sized, ice-cold beer to round it all out! Great food, welcoming service, and that laid-back atmosphere that makes you want to stay awhile. You'll be seeing us again!

Food AMAZING If…read moreyou want a small drive out into the hill country, this is the place to go for a great spot to eat at. It is about 30 minutes away from San Antonio. Great indoor outdoor seating and it was not really hot outside this time of the year and we had gotten to the restaurant at 5. It is a very family friendly place and they do have live music that play in the evenings. I did tell them it was my first time trying out the restaurant, and the owner came by himself and greeted us and thanked us that we came to his restaurant. I would have given five stars, but our waitress was not attentive as I would like it to be, but they were getting busy throughout that next hour we were there. We did get a slice of chocolate cake, which I highly recommend if there is any left because it is a very popular dessert!

Ay Chiwawa Mexican Cafe - Don't spend over $2 for the 2 oz guacamole. It's not equal to 1/4 of a cup and they don't even fill it completely.

We have been here a few times in the past but my first time laying down a review. I compare this restaurant to a Las Palapas only with a nicer atmosphere and a bit more class. I went with the omelette and wifey ordered the Huevos Motulenos. They are both solid picks. It's hard to overly impress me with an omelette and so to be fair , it was good, not memorable but good. The Motulenos has a picture perfect presentation and since wifey didn't share, would say "Ay Chiwawa", she enjoyed it. Service is always friendly and if you have any issues, the manager will correct it quickly.

Handing rating stars out like candy…read more My soft ground beef tacos looked like the beef was boiled, gray and poached looking, no seasoning at all, not even wonderful Mexican spices. My wife got the breast of chicken dinner, it appeared the chicken was pre-cooked with grill marks just for show. My guess purchased pre-cooked grill marks I bet caramel coloring. Mexican rice was white with no Mexican seasoning, no color, no flavor. Grandkids got the albondigas soup, overly salty, watery and thick layer of oil floating on top. They bc also had guacamole that was overly salty. All in all a culinary disaster, I plan never to return
