I know Panera gets a bad rap sometimes for, what I've heard, being "glorified hospital food", but I happen to love it. I can always find something satisfying on their menu for whatever meal of the day, including a quick midday pick-me-up snack. I think the layout of this Panera is a little goofy and it wasn't the cleanest when it came to tables needing cleared or wiped down. Still, my group's food was good and everyone enjoyed what they ordered. I like that you can order and pay at the kiosk. It's practical and, for the most part, eliminates orders coming out incorrectly. Our new Panera in Reno is currently being built. Can't wait to have one local to me. I love their iced teas and salad/sandwiches. Sometimes when you're in the mood for a good soup and salad, Panera just hits. You can have almost any combo if you prefer a half sandwich and soup, salad and sandwich, etc. I don't care for the location of this Panera because it's part of a busy parking lot. Guess you can't help that however it does make it easy to find from the corner. All in all I'd go back when in the area again. 2 thumbs up from me. read more

Mediterranean Grain Bowl-do these two pictures look even remotely alike? They are the same thing. But they're not. Notice in my bowl there is zero greens and I don't know if that's a cucumber or watt that I have circled in purple on the menu image but zero of that in the bowl. No hummus either.!! Five cherry tomatoes, three Kalamata olives, chicken, sour cream. They are consistently bad and I finally decided that I will stop going there. They charge an arm and a leg for their food and you don't even get what you pay for. granted it looks kind of gross because I stirred it up and ate some but you notice that there's things that are missing. TRUST THOSE WHO YELP REGULARLY... I like Panera and wanted to try this location. I ordered the same Mediterranean Bowl I've had at their other stores, but failed to modify it as preferred. Though it's not their "responsibility," I would love it if cashiers asked "Are there any dietary modifications we can help you with?" This would trigger me to make changes... and I'm certain many others. It could very well minimize waste too. Anyway; that's a suggestion and not reflected in this rating. The atmosphere on a Thursday around 11:30a was great. Some seniors playing card games, people dining inside & out, and the cool temperature was a nice reprieve from the 95°+ temp outside. My only cause for deduction are the inability to order due to staff not paying attention, a register being down, and the [likely] homeless attendee having a nice snooze in the dining room. It wasn't as bad as the Howe Avenue location, but still a concern. The food is tasty, and who can resist those baguettes? If you can see past the aforementioned deficiencies, it's a nice restaurant. Not only are they inept and making enough bagels for the new asiago sandwiches, but they do not know how to answer a phone so people can make orders and their website sucks to high heaven because it does not allow for one to look to see how much they have ordered or what their order looks like before they submit the order. I have the sip club so I come to this shop a lot. My favorite thing about coming here would be the staff. They're all very nice and welcoming. If anything is wrong, they're more than happy to fix it. Whether it's running out of Splenda or coffee, they're always there to fix it. I come here a lot for great deals but I enjoy coming because everyone is so pleasant here. 5 stars for the staff specifically. I also highly recommend the cookies and bagels! read more

I didn't go there for dinner last night but I bought a chocolate croissant to go. Actually, I asked for 2 but the checker didn't hear me and gave me one. No problem with that. I'm cool. My gripe is I got a croissant that was not a fresh croissant. I know because I've accompanied my husband many times when he dined in at both the Citrus Heights and the Rancho Cordova cafes. I always ordered for chocolate croissant because they were good, light & fluffy when served fresh. Not so, this time. I got a hard, lumpy croissant and i had to chew my way through. That was disappointing. I remember when I got served the fresh ones. They were light, and when you bite into one, there would be flaky crumbs falling all over. I was told that Panera give their day-old pastries to the needy, and I applaud that, but where did my croissant come from? It was at least a day-old! read more

Panera Bread has never been my favorite or most hated restaurant. They just sort of exist as a place I only go to when someone else is feeling it. This most recent time I went however, I got food poisoning from them so that was cool. Panera usually has friendly, or at least passable service every time I've gone here. This time was no different. They can move their drive thru fairly quickly as well. It's not the fastest, but it's quick when you think about what types of foods they're making back there. I used to come for the clam chowder which was a Friday exclusive, but looks like they no longer offer it. I ordered the Signature Take Chicken Sandwich with a side of Broccoli Cheddar Mac & Cheese which came with a baguette. I bought a Frozen Strawberry Lemonade with it, alongside a Sausage, Scrambled Egg & Cheese on Ciabatta. To start, the free baguette was solid. It's just bread so there isn't really anything special about it. The chicken sandwich consisted of "Seasoned and seared chicken breast, parmesan crisps, emerald greens and garlic aioli on a brioche roll." My chicken breast was so thin that it was smaller than my pinky. The sauce, greens, aioli, and brioche roll were all very good elements. The parmesan crisps were good, but the texture was a little off. With a thicker patty it could definitely be a good choice. I feel as though this was the item that gave me food poisoning. The patty was so thin I couldn't tell if the chicken was cooked all the way through or not. My broccoli cheddar mac was pretty good flavor, but watery. I was really looking forward to the frozen strawberry lemonade, but I think someone gave me the wrong drink. It came out looking like the picture of the strawberry smoothie, as well as tasting like it too. I do like smoothies, but was a little disappointed in what was received. Now the best item I got there was hands down the breakfast sandwich. I've had a lot of fast food breakfast before but the Panera breakfast menu is so much better. It's only available before 11am which isn't a problem, and the flavor of it is phenomenal. The seasoning on the sausage is great, scrambled egg is light and fluffy, they use white cheddar which is full of flavor, the bread is good, and a dash of salt and pepper helps bring a little extra to flavor. Overall, I probably would have given Panera 1 star if it weren't for the breakfast menu. Getting food poisoning, the thinnest chicken sandwich patty, the wrong drink, and watery mac would typically lead me to a 1 star review. Due to the breakfast menu however, I've decided to change it to a 2 star review. I'll probably be coming back for another one of those sandwiches more often. read more

My favorite food item to buy is their Napa Almond Chicken Salad Sandwich and yesterday I had a hankering for it so I ordered it through the drive-through. I also added two chocolate chip cookies; one for me and one for my husband. I drove home and went about plating the sandwich and chips. As soon as I took it outside the bag I knew things were off...as in small size! I unwrapped the sandwich and I was shocked at how small it was, and so were the cookies. Every time I've gotten this sandwich in the past I've only been able to eat half, which is fine so I could eat the other half later. That sandwich was way too thin! No grapes, maybe 5 almond slices and where's the chicken?! And the cookies? Much smaller and my husband was disgusted too. We are all experiencing horrible times right now with egregious long term fuel costs, sparse and empty shelves in some areas, and price increases in most food items. Clearly, Panera Bread has intentionally decreased portion sizes. Folks, that's what sneakiness and greed looks like! I have unsubscribed from their emails, deleted their app and have thrown their member card in the trash can. They will never get my money again. Moving forward when I get that certain hankering I will go to Sourdough & Co. which just so happens to have delicious sourdough sandwich rolls and sourdough bread is an anti-inflammatory! I always order rapid pick up and they usually get my order right, but they NEVER have the orders out and I can be standing right in front of the pick up counter and nobody will ever acknowledge me. Every time I come here, the quality of their bread bowls are top notch. I've come here during the lunch time rush as well as late in the evening, and both times of day had bread bowls that were soft and chewy like they were fresh from the oven. This location also has the best amount of seating in the area for both large group gatherings and intimate dining. I always use the self order kiosks or mobile order and have had not had a single issue with my order. I'm a fan, greenback panera. Keep doin' your thang. read more

The Citrus Heights cafe is my location when I am shopping, as it's situated between many of the stores where I shop. I was out longer than planned and decided to grab a salad for dinner. When I arrived at the window to pay and check out, my phone number wasn't registering. The cashier tried 3-4 times with no success, then I remembered I had the membership card on my key chain. He scanned my card and it finally worked. I appreciate the cashiers over and above efforts, as there was a line and he could have certainly made one attempt only, but it was appreciated. Haley at the Drive Thru was amazing. So cool, collected, and made my night. She also had awesome hair and nails, ok gurl! When I got my food, I realized that they only gave me half of my whole sandwich. Totally understandable mistake. I called in to inform them and asked how to get my other half and the woman on the phone was very abrupt and condescending said that I could come back in and get the other half (rude, but ok.) When I walked in (with my half sandwich that I received and my receipt) the lady at the register rudely announced to the whole store, "Oh, he's here!" Really? Then proceeded to hand me my other half. I politely (at least I thought it was polite) to confirm that I wasn't mistaken and it actually was the correct order and she snobbishly said, "uh. Yeah. That's correct." And in a condescending way said, "Have a good day." I work in a customer-service job. I did NOT want to make anyone's day bad. I get rude customers all the time. I KNOW how they act. This experience was just overall bad. I did not purposively want to make a big deal out of not having the other half of the sandwich, but I'm a working person who has to pay rent, and I PAID for a whole sandwich. Ordered through the app, then went through the drive-through to pick up the order in May 2023. I waited an extremely long time in the drive through to pick up my order, order was to be ready at 6:03, arrived 6:11p, received food at 6:45p, only one car in front of me. Upon arriving home, I discovered that the bowl that I had ordered had been eaten out of. Literally, a portion of the food had been eaten - see attached picture of what I discovered. I was so grossed out, absolutely DISGUSTED. Immediately, I drove back to the restaurant with my entire order, considering that I am now way too grossed out to eat any of, and asked to speak with a manager. The entire establishment reeked of an unclean, public bathroom smell (a heavily urinated in without consistent upkeep/cleaning- gas station kind of public bathroom smell). Upon presenting the food and issue to the manager on duty (Zachary Newell), his first reaction was "are you sure that the food wasn't jostled". Uh, yes, I am absolutely sure that the food was not jostled - nothing else in the bag was "jostled" and you could easily see for yourself thru the clear cover and even better by removing the cover that a portion of the meal had been eaten and picked over. When something is jostled, it makes a mess within the container, and this was clearly not the case. Zachary, did not acknowledge what happened at all, no apology, in fact he smugly discounted and invalidated the entire experience. Zachary did not even offer a refund to the original form of payment. He offered to remake the meal - like I am going to ever eat food from this establishment ever again. No follow up from the store manager. Managed to get Zachary to provide a cash refund (after requesting a refund), still with zero acknowledgment of the issue at hand, respect, or offer of any other resolution. Meanwhile (after being there for over half an hour), throughout this entire interaction with Zachary, there is another employee behind the counter with her long dark hair down to her waist, handling food and drinks, not wearing a hair tie/hat/hair net AT ALL. Another employee is handling food to go and at the bakery without gloves, or proper health hygiene. SO DISGUSTING. The entire experience was disgusting - this place should be shut down by health inspectors. Zero stars. Would NOT RECOMMEND. read more

I went thru the drive through today around 1:45pm, and the drive thru did not have many cars in front of me, I believe it was only two. Anyways, the wait - was outrageous, but I figured the service would be pleasant to make up for that, and I was incorrect - because the service was also poor. And then when I had left the drive thru and was halfway to my destination already, I decided to pull over because I was hungry, and I opened my sandwich - and it had like almost no meat on it at all, almost no produce, it was so bare. I could have easily paid what I paid today, at Togos or any other sandwich place and would've gotten a good quantity and quality sandwich. I've have been coming for several months to the Citrus heights location and I've noticed every time I come there is a mistake. whether I come inside the restaurant or if it's through the drive-through, it never fails this time like I always order. I order the same thing every time I order my salad with chicken I get home. There's no chicken on my cob salad so then I called then they're like oh well you ordered it and I said no I did not and of course their employees are gonna say otherwise because they're trying to cover their own ass. I know how this works. The customer service sucks and obviously it's a problem if every time I come in for the last several months and they screw up my order it's not a coincidence. The last time I came inside the store they screwed up my son's order the time before that I come home. They didn't even give me salad dressing then another time I come they say oh order this salad because then you'll get the avocado and chicken but then when I asked it have the egg on it? They come to find out I get There's no egg on it. I don't like doing me bad reviews, but this is a constant problem so this needs to be fixed and thankfully the manager did give me a free solid but when she keeps saying that, I said I didn't order it with chicken, which is a lie because the first thing I said was I want chicken Cobb salad with avocado on it. Ordered a Caesar chicken salad like I always order for my son as well. I never order a salad without chicken on it..
