Came here with my girlfriend after getting her into a new apartment. This spot is right near her new spot. The customer service was great. Everyone was so friendly. The location has a nice covered outdoor area with seating and heaters. The indoor seating is good also. I ordered a turkey and provolone on Dutch crunch and it was great. All the veggies were fresh and crunchy. The bread was fluffy with great flavor. The price was good for the value of the food. I am happy it was a great experience. Out of the "fast casual" sandwich establishments in and around the Sacramento area ("Subway", "Sourdough & Co", "Togo's", etc.), I will say that "Mr. Pickle's Sandwich Shop" ranks to the higher end of the totem pole. Meaning they are good but not great. Since I am a huge sandwich fan, I tend to go the more traditional delis and family-owned businesses. However, I took advantage of a $7.99 "Sammie Combo" (as of April 2025) that I couldn't pass up. This included one of their signature subs available in turkey, ham, or roast beef and includes chips, a drink, and a cookie. Located at the corner of Auburn Blvd & Sylvan Rd in Citrus Heights, this location is centrally located while sharing the parking lot with several other businesses. What makes this Mr. Pickle's particularly interesting is how spacious it is, especially their dining area. Here, you will find a regular inside area to sit as well as a few outdoor patio tables. But they also offer a huge enclosed patio where you are protected from the sun (but not the outdoor elements). I find this to be effective but at the same time, a ton of unused space. Going back to my lunch, I came during the afternoon of Friday 4/4/2025 at around 12:00pm. As expected, it was busy as a lot of people were here for the online deal. I ended up going with the "Sammie Combo" and chose turkey as my meat of choice and sourdough bread. I also asked for everything on it which included American cheese, shredded lettuce, red onions, tomatoes, mayo, mustard, garlic sauce, and a pickle (on the side). I also went with an order with "Dirty" kettle chips (in Maui onion flavor), a drink (I chose strawberry lemonade), and a chocolate chip cookie. Not a bad deal (at $7.99) considering you get a complete meal. After placing my order, my sandwich was ready in less than 2 minutes! I will say that the women here don't play around as everything was presented to me quickly. They were also very generous with the turkey and other fillings. Overall, this sandwich was absolutely above average and far better than other places that I've been to. The bread had a soft texture while everything was fresh and delicious. My only complaint is that the cookie wasn't on the soft side as it may have been a couple days old but no biggie. All in all, the Citrus Heights "Mr. Pickle's Sandwich Shop" was a pleasant surprise while not breaking the bank. My rating, an above average four stars. read more

This was my second time at Mr Pickle's although my first time at this location. I placed my order online through my newly acquired Mr Pickle's app (love it!). It was quick and easy. When I picked up my sandwiches the employee was friendly. The restaurant was cute and clean. That makes me happy any time I enter a new place. My last sandwich had been a Reuben which is definitely excellent but we wanted to try something new. I went with the Hang Loose and The Mr Pickle. With the Hang Loose I'm not sure why anyone would need a different sandwich. We split it as we do all sandwiches. My only complaint is that the bacon fell off my half and my mother ate. So the Hang Loose has pastrami, bacon, cream cheese, avocado, pepperoncinis, and your normal lettuce, tomato, and onions. We added their horseradish mayo because pastrami needs horseradish. I would recommend this sandwich to the moon and back. It is so good. Our other sandwich was the Mr Pickle. On its on this would have been a great sandwich. It was unfortunately overshadowed by the Hang Loose. This was chicken breast, bacon, avocado, and again the works. This was an excellent sandwich too. I would definitely love to have this one again. My goal was to eat around and try different delis but I might be stuck on this sandwich shop for awhile. read more

Was in town this past weekend and decided we wanted to eat at a sandwich shop and this was the closest place where we were at. I was the only person who hasn't been here, so I didn't know what to expect. I decided to go with the Hang Loose I believe is what it was called. A pastrami sandwich with a cream cheese spread and avocado with bacon with the works on Dutch bread. The Dutch bread had a wonderful texture to it. The first half I ate I wasn't too sold on it. It was good but lacked flavored. But when I ate the second half later that day, cold. I thought it was way better! Even the top crunch part of the bread was a different texture and delicious as well. I believe Alexandra helped us. She was amazing! Went above and beyond to be helpful. She accommodated a special order for our kids and remade my sandwich when I decided I didn't like the bread. The Dutch bread was a little too hard for me. She gave me a warm sourdough and it was perfect. I ordered the goomba. My friend ordered the Ms. Pickle. We also got a pastrami sandwich. Lots of great ingredients. The goomba was overflowing with sandwich meat! The avocado was abundant. The spot was clean with lots of space to sit. In the last 18 months I've spent about $1,000 here and had no problems. Sometimes I use Grubhub and sometimes I pick up my order. I am handicapped and on oxygen. They have always brought my order out to me and I pay cash. Today I called in an order and reminded them I would be in the handicap spot about 10 feet from the door. She told me I had to come in because they were short-handed and could not spare the time to bring out my order. I once again reminded her that I could not do that and they had always brought it out to me. She refused so I canceled the order. They might have just lost a good customer. I have ordered many sandwiches here and usually it is quite good. Today I ordered a tuna sandwich customized. I have never had tuna from here, the sandwich was more chunky tuna than tuna salad. The bread was fresh and veggies (other than brown lettuce) was fresh. I don't know if the tuna salad is made in-house or premade. After a long day of packing, moving and cleaning we ordered Mr. Pickles as an "easy" option. We ordered 5 sandwiches for all of us starving and hard worked folks. When we got the order, none of the sandwiches had any labeling on them. So we had to open every sandwich and finger through them to figure out which was ours, all while just wishing we could dig in. After ten minutes of everyone looking up the ingredients of their sandwich on the online menus and then comparing them to the actual sandwich in person, we finally did rock paper scissors to decide who got the last two as we couldn't hardly tell between the different meat sandwiches. Very disappointing experience. Of the three employees working, only one of them was attempting to wear a mask (which was pulled below her nose). The other two making sandwiches weren't wearing any face coverings at all. There is also no hand sanitizer here for customers, no plastic barrier between the staff and you, and no social distance floor markings. I went to this location and ordered a meatball sandwich. I took a bite in the car and the meatballs were very cold, so I went back and informed the manager that my meatballs were cold. She replied by asked if if I wanted her to heat it up. I replied no that if she puts my sandwich in the microwave, the sauce will make my bread soggy. Also if I wanted it heated up, I could've taken it home and put it in my own microwave. She made a face, which was very unprofessional and then yelled to her employee, who made my sandwhich originally to come and remake it. She never apologized or offered to make it better herself. If I were a manager, I would've remade the sandwhich myself and made sure the customer was happy. Instead I received attitude and felt as if I was a bother. Never returning to this mr.pickles. This is by far the worst Mr. Pickle's in the franchise. Let's put it this way, this location is a mile down the road from our house, but we would rather drive 20 minutes out of our way to go to the Loomis, Rocklin, or even Lincoln locations than to go here. I'm not sure if there is even management at this location, let alone proper sanitation and customer service training for the employees. The only people that seem to ever be there are a bunch of teenagers who are probably better off being supervised than not. We went there today due to timing, and if you look at the pictures I've included, those are two separate Veggie Pestoli sandwiches that my wife ordered. The ingredients clearly say that she's of our choice is included, but they forgot cheese somehow. The produce always looks old and disgusting, then when she went back to have her sandwich replaced, they barely put any cheese on there, hardly any avocado, and they forgot the pesto aioli. those are basically the heart of the sandwich, so I don't know how you forget that. The employees constantly go from making sandwiches to handling cash, to handling cleaning items, without washing their hands or changing their gloves in between. I've worked in food industry before, and understand that sometimes you get on a roll and need to be reminded, but I've had to request someone to change their gloves before touching my food one too many times. If you want even a decent sandwich that hasn't touched every dollar bill that's made its way through that establishment, avoid this location of Mr. Pickles. read more

Food is always hit or miss. Depends how much money you're spending, unfortunately. Every time I get a half sandwich the bread is stale and it seems like they put the least amount of effort possible. I called the store and had the manager Andrea call m back. I explained that the sack was not sealed upon delivery. Her response? "We were really slammed and didn't have time to seal the bag."
