I have been a Panera customer for over four years, and I am very disappointed with my experience today at the Commack location. I usually eat inside the restaurant, but today I placed a to-go "You Pick Two" order, and the quality was completely different. The salad portion was much smaller than it should be, several ingredients were missing, and the few ingredients included were not fresh at all. The half sandwich was also incomplete. For the amount of money I pay sometimes twice a week this is not worth it. When I eat inside the restaurant, the salad portions are larger and the sandwiches are complete, so this inconsistency is very frustrating. I also want to add that I drive 15 minutes to get to this location, and after discovering the issues with my order, I did not want to drive back just to make a claim. Customers should not have to spend extra time and gas to correct mistakes. Additionally, the tables are often dirty, and they allow non-customers to use the bathroom. There are frequently homeless individuals using the restroom, and because of what goes on in there, I did not feel safe taking my children to use it. This situation needs to be taken seriously by management. A supervisor should address the food quality, cleanliness, and safety concerns immediately. As a loyal customer, I expect much better from Panera. read more

Ordered in the store. They didn't get my order correct and I was missing half of my lunch. When I got back to my office and realized it, I called them and they told me they could not deliver it because they use DoorDash. I had to go back to Panera and retrieve half of my lunch which burned up my entire lunch break. They were unapologetic and offered nothing to me in terms of my wasted time. I ordered a warm chicken teriyaki bowl at the kiosk. While I was waiting, I noticed behind the register an advertisement to order a half salad for $4.59 if you buy a bowl. The kiosk did not give you that option so, I asked the cashier if I could order the half salad and pay the additional $4.59. She rang up the order and then proceeded to ask me for $10.09! What?? She understood that I wanted to add the half salad to my bowl order. The full Salad was $12, why would anyone order a half salad for $10?? I told her to forget the order!! She did not say a word, and did not even offer to speak to the manager. This place sucks! Portions are so tiny!! I wouldn't recommend it! Cashier was wrong for not speaking to the manager. Stay away! The food is decent, but I do feel like they do overcharge for such teensy tiny portions. Shout out to the manager of this Panera bread. My Panera App was not functioning properly and since I had my gift cards loaded on the app I was reluctant to pay with my CC. I'm writing this review on behalf of my Aunt. We both needed to stop somewhere real quick after a long ride. So she went to use their bathroom while I ordered her lunch and a pumpkin muffin for me. Little did I know, it was the most unsanitary location I went to! She told me that one of the bathroom stalls is not cleaned! When I got my muffin, i found out that the muffin was not in the box like it's supposed to be. The other location near me does that. This one doesn't. I did ignore that for a moment. But as soon as we got home, my Aunt said that her fork was dirty with dried French dressing on it! I feel awful for her! I would go to the other location near Walt Whitman mall. The food is okay for a fast food place but they ALWAYS get my order wrong! I order through the app so it's written down for them but they still get it wrong! I only order from here through their app when I don't have a lot of time. You can definitely get better quality food for the same price somewhere else. As long as you know what to expect here then it's an overall good experience. If you're used to eating salads, soups and sandwiches at high end restaurants don't expect that kind of quality here because you aren't going to get it. We did the U Pick 2 deal, got an array of the Apple Fuji Salad (dressing way way way too sweet almost like a candy flavor) BBQ chicken salad (again dressing tasted like it was loaded with sugar), Mac n Cheese (awesome according to my sister who is a mac n cheese connoisseur or so she thinks) Frontega Chicken Sandwich (delish) and Broccoli Cheddar Soup (YUM, how this is only 210 calories I don't know because it tasted extra creamy and cheesy but good nonetheless) Also grabbed an iced green tea while I waited, so clutch and refreshing. Upon waiting I overheard a lady order bread for her side, but asked for whole wheat! Where have I been I didn't know they offered whole wheat bread on the side. Now, they were busy, it was prime time dinner hour but I really wanted to switch my order and get whole wheat bread instead. So I asked the ladies making the food if they would mind switching all of our side breads to whole wheat and to my surprise they did so with hesitation, even threw a couple extra pieces in there for us. I don't know if they were being so accommodating because the manager was standing right now but it was great! This is my second time coming here and each experience has been "meh." I will not give this location a third chance. The Stony Brook one is worth the drive over this one. I can understand running out of bread bowls (first time) but running out of a staple soup like broccoli cheddar soup is silly.. especially since they have them packaged in the back and only warm them up. This location must be seriously miss-managed as the staff is already packing stuff away and cleaning for close up, with hours left to spare until closing. read more

Autumn squash soup is delicious! I look forward to it every Fall. It's creamy and flavorful. I chose the soup and classic grilled cheese off the You Pick Two menu. The grilled cheese was soft, crunchy, cheesy and good. Nothing special but great for a lunch. They also have unsweetened iced teas which I like, good coffee and an awesome strawberry rhubarb mini loaf which is under 300 calories and soooo good! Perfect for a little treat once in a while. Even though we have plenty of delis across Long Island, as a woman there are usually lots of men behind the counters harassing me with their eyes so I tend to stay away from those places and am able to go into Panera without having to deal with that ;) read more

If I could give it less than one star I would. I went there this morning at 8:50 am, had to travel an extra two miles opposite of the direction I was going in and had to sit in traffic for 20-25 minutes just getting there. Then as I go inside finally, I am the only one on line at the registers and I stand there for a good five minutes while nearly 6 employees walk around without even acknowledging me and just look at me and pass by. Then finally one girl notices me and comes to the register. I order a bowl of tomato soup and she says it won't be ready till 9 am. It was 8:55 at the time! Really?! I was already pissed off with traveling farther and sitting in traffic and now this? So I take a Panera menu and ask the girl to write the Panera store number so I can let the franchise know what's going on at their locations. The girl doesn't seem to understand this and doesn't seem like she speaks English well and goes to the back and brings a manager out front. I tell him I've picked up soup earlier that 9 before at other locations. He tells me that no Panera serves soup before 10 and they shouldn't be. And he say they "just" opened at 5/6 am and it's not ready in time. I know soup doesn't take 3-4 hours to make even from scratch. I love Panera and their soup but I will not be going back there. Long lines, but they also offer mobile ordering as well as the option to use an automated ordering screen in the restaurant. Cinnamon crunch bagels and pink ribbon bagels are my favorite, along with the steak panini, Fuji apple salad, and any of the soups. Bread is delicious and fresh (as it should be in a bread bakery). Seating is always available quickly, and I like the buzzers so people don't have to crowd around the pick up counter to get their tray. Downsides? The chicken for salads isn't my cup of tea, and the desserts tend to be a bit on the dry side. But the green tea makes up for that in my book! read more

This is the last time I will try this location. Although it is geographically convenient, there are better Panera locations. There is always a wait. Now, they have a staff member at the door to guide you where you should go. There are always two cash registers, so I'm not sure why this guidance is necessary. Service is slow. The employees are friendly but have little or no knowledge regarding their products. The tables are gummy and sticky. The drink machines were also dirty and not well maintained. The soup was watery. My sandwich and my friend's panini were both made wrong. The bread was fresh, but the vegetables were old and wilted. Check your food for accuracy before you leave if you order take out!!! Until recently I never really ate at a Panera Bread as I tend to stay away from chains but they don't feel so chainy in both atmosphere and quality of food. Went for lunch which was more than good. I got the Pick Two Combo--half of the Turkey Avocado Sandwich and a strawberry poppy seed salad. Both of which were really good. My friend had their Sourdough Bread Bowl soup which he said was very good as well. I was full when we left. The staff was really friendly at this place and they keep it clean. I enjoy going to Panera bread most of the time but this past visit was bad. I got the chicken panini and they ran out of the bread it comes on which isn't a big deal to me but this panini comes with shredded chicken and it was awful.
