Panera is Panera so the food is standard Panera fare. I came in on a Friday and found the restaurant jammed packed with patrons. The wait time varied from person to person. The tap to pay feature wasn't working and the wait varied from person to person. There were several customers who received their orders before me ( and ordered after I did). My order was a tomato soup with grilled cheese. I will give the staff the credit due them. They seem short staffed and even in the midst of that they remained pleasant and answered questions with patience. read more

Update *specifically* for our first try at their flatbread pizzas. Ordered the pepperoni flatbread, upgraded to double pepperoni for $2, and the Chipotle Chicken Bacon flatbread, no customization. Knew they would unlikely be hot when they got home, so had the oven preheated to 350 when they arrived. Five minutes at that temp reheated without overcooking. Crust had good flavor, pepperoni was tasty as was the cheese, but there was next to no sauce on the three slices I ate. A better sauce to cheese to pepperoni ratio would likely upgrade my stars to four. Boyfriend *liked* his flatbread, but the garlic sauce was overpowering for him. He wants to try the Margherita next time, and I think I will stick to my favorites, the salads and sandwiches. read more

I order from here quite often, either getting a Caesar salad w chicken or the broccoli cheddar soup. This time I got the Mediterranean bowl. Its very good, a large portion so I put into another bigger bowl when I got home, no problem at all. My problem was the chicken- I've heard a lot of rumors that some food isn't fresh and is frozen at this company, which I know a lot of companies do sadly. My coworker and I stopped in waiting for the near by party city to open and we were pleasantly surprised. There was no wait and the cashiers were great. We took a sit in a nice, quiet booth and got our grub on. She got the apple cinnamon muffin (so jealous) and I got the blueberry muffin. I also want to add their orange IS DELICIOUS! I usually just come for their salads but now this may be my go to for breakfast. The apple cinnamon muffin had actual slices of apple through out. It's the little things in life that please me. I love how their seating is set up. If you are "working from home" or studying for an exam this is a great place to come. They have free wifi and booths secluded away from the noise and traffic. I ordered food in-house a few days ago right around lunch time. No line at the cash register to order. Several team members were attentive and ready. I ordered a large mac and cheese and a large tomato basil soup. I wanted the French onion but was told it was out of season (boo!). Is it because of the onion? The order was ready within 5 minutes at the pickup counter, I had everything to eat my order to go, and the mac and cheese tasted superb (although for $8 you don't get much). The soup was a good portion and I couldn't finish it all, so you might be better off getting the smaller size even if the large is only a little more money. I would assume restaurants and fast food places learned from COVID to be more cautious and conscientious and increase their standards as it related to handling and serving food. Well not PANERA!!! This morning I placed an online order for curbside pick up. Not only did they forget to fill my order while I waited and waited. They also didn't give me all my items which was a toasted blueberry bagel with honey walnut spread and a yogurt parfait. When I brought that to their attention, they appeared to be annoyed and when they brought me my order, I was discussed. What I got was a sliced blueberry bagel NOT Toasted. And the surprise I got was they put the plastic wrapped utensil in between the bagel and the spread on the side. Then they just simply threw in the carry out bag unwrapped along with the expired yogurt and PLAIN cream cheese packets. Not HONEY WALNUT like i had requested. And lets talk about this yogurt parfait. This parfait the fruit had turned to mush, and the juice had turned brown and was leaking into the granola. This yogurt should have been tossed and not sold to any customer. But what the hell let's give it to a customer anyway was their mindset. My order in its entirety was DISGUSTING and UNSANTIZED. I have no idea what is up with this Panera. The quality of the food and service is inconsistent, employees are a mixed bag: some are very professional and friendly, but others are high school students with a bad attitude. I have had way better and consistent service in busier locations such as Rockville, Washington DC, and even New York City. The Panera Bread in Kentlands isn't exactly "popping". I've had items missing from my rapid pick-up orders many times and more often than not, when I bring it to an employee's attention, they usually quietly get the item (or put in an order for it) without apologizing. The last time one of the items from my mobile order was missing, the employee actually scoffed at me. I never ever leave this particular Panera without checking the bag, even if I am in a rush. I have also had random ingredients missing from my orders. One time, they legit served me a wrap with only egg in it, even though there was supposed to be tomato and basil in it. They always fix the problem whenever I bring it to their attention, but I find it annoying that they seem to be constantly making all sorts of mistakes with people's orders. They even gave me a cookie that had the consistency of a rock once. Considering that this Panera will never be as busy as a Panera in DC, where the service is typically significantly better despite the sheer number of customers they have to deal with on a daily basis, I have no idea why they can't even pretend to be consistent in quality or service. read more

I came here a few more times since my first review for this Panera Bread location. There were a decent number of mishaps/errors with my rapid pick-up orders, however, they usually got my order correct after I spoke to a cashier. However, unfortunately, I found myself disappointed in this Panera Bread yet again. I ordered a cookie from here, and it was as hard as a rock! I buy cookies from Panera bread occasionally and they are usually very soft and at least somewhat fresh, especially towards the center of the cookie. But nope, this one was as hard as a rock and tasted quite stale. Even trying to break the cookie in pieces was extremely hard. I wonder if this was an old cookie or overbaked, but it did not taste right, yikes. I wish I could have gotten a refund for this super hard and stale $2 cookie, smh. This is the worst run Panera location we have ever been to, and this isn'tmy conclusion after just 1 visit. This is my opinion after living near them for 18 months and giving them multiple chances hoping there would be improvement. Well, after today, no more chances. When we first moved to the area, right before Covid, we visited a few times and the food was just ok. Usually luke warm but it was good for a quick bite. When Covid hit and everything shut down, it was nice that we could order breakfast or lunch since we couldn't go out. But the longer the pandemic has gone on the worse their service has gotten. Now they are opened with reduced seating, but every time we go or order, our order is completely wrong. The receipt is correct, but what we get, is not what we ordered. For instance today, we ordered 2 Eggwhite Avocado Spinach Sandwiches. 1 on an Everything Bagel with a scrambled egg, and the other 1 on ciabatta with a regular over easy egg. Receipt showed exactly what we ordered. What did we get? 1 on a sprouted grain bagel flat with an over easy egg and the other one on ciabatta with a scrambled egg. Completely disappointed. There are so few breakfast places within walking distance but guess we will have to give up the idea of a nice walk to get breakfast and start going to places further away. I am soooooo sick and tired of going back to speak to management ..so today, I will simply cut mt losses abs post this here! I come here weekly, always picking up my order from the to-go shelf. Tonight I show up, having received a text that my order was ready, to find no orders waiting on the shelf and 2 other customers waiting for their food. Assume they are busy & sit down. After 5 mins I get up to ask about my order and apparently they are keeping all of the orders behind the counter now, due to theft. All of the orders that the other customers were waiting for were ready also, and had been for a while. Would have been nice to tell all of the customers that were waiting , or put up a sign. But no, not worth the effort I guess. It wasn't busy, one worker was sweeping the floor, while we all waited for the orders that were ready but not put out. Some of them are fine, but on numerous visits the staff was surly, difficult to understand or just have an awful attitude. Last night, after ordering, I was standing at the counter waiting for my soup and salad. The woman then throws it down on the counter and just mumbles something. I asked her if it was my order and she glared at me and mumbled something. I thought that I was maybe on an SNL set. On other occasions, the staff offers unintelligle answers, with or without a mask. Employees -- If you hate your job, then just quit. The manager needs to invest some time and effort into training these "employees." Maybe they are ex-USPS workers! read more

This is a great Panera location. The lunch rush is not nearly as bad as, say, Rockville's Falls Grove location. There are many, huge windows which lets lots of natural light in and is a great place to sit and visit with friends, have a quick solo lunch or breakfast, or sit up with a laptop and get to work (non peak times, of course, and there are many regulars including myself!) The service here is hit or miss, from excellent to just okay. The coffee is excellent and is frequently changed out. Interestingly, it is often a better deal to stay and eat here. With the pick two, they give you a smaller salad to go than if you were to stay here (something about the psychological need to fill a big bowl perhaps?) Also, you can get a pickle if you want one, but you need to ask at the pick up counter. You can also choose an apple or a whole grain baguette if you don't want the regular white bread. The drink counter carries all the regular accouterment, including 3 different kinds of butter. The acai iced tea is the best of the bunch. They also have small cups for help-yourself-water. The restaurant itself is moderately clean, as are restrooms. The outside seating is really nice too. There are some wrought iron tables lining the sidewalk along the building and a small patio out back with 4-5 very nice wicker-like tables. The wifi reaches there too! The best thing to do if you are in a hurry? Call ahead (like, in the car on your way) and it will be ready when you arrive. You just pay and go! For breakfast, I like the power sandwiches with egg whites and hazelnut coffee and for lunch, I am always trying out their seasonal specials. Right now I am really into the sonoma chicken soup, which basically tastes like a chicken pot pie and worth every, cream calorie! Get the My Panera card if you plan to eat here more than once. LOL I fucking hate this Panera because they called the cops on my friend and I, and the police kicked us out in the middle of our meal! Sheesh! People always assume the worst. We arrived at 8:00PM and ordered our food, which was very good. I got my usual--the mediterranean veggie sandwich on the sesame semolina with no feta and extra cilantro hummus with an apple. My friend got the classic grilled cheese on sesame semolina with mushrooms and onions. At around 8:45PM, I ordered some dessert (a brownie). I'm so sorry! I am nearly always a vegan, but I needed to taste this joint one last time. It was good. Taylor took our order, and she is really friendly and hospitable. We even talked about her ex-boyfriend because she's that cool. She is the only reason I am giving two stars. Anyways, two police officers came at 8:50PM and approached us, asking what cheese we had with us (trying to break the ice). We had three packs of vegan cheese from Whole Foods (almond mozzarella, vegan pepper jack, and American). We weren't sure why they were talking to us. Then they asked us what were we doing there so close to the closing time (9:00PM) and what was our deal. We told them matter-of-factly that we were just eating dinner. They accused us of staying at this location for over an hour, but we had only been there for 50 minutes. There were lots of other customers here at this same time, but the police singled us out for some odd reason.
