My mom and I went here, my mom had the cobb salad with chicken and the chicken made her sick (like, projectile vomiting later that day!). Other than that, I dont think they have enough people working there. There was no one up front taking orders so we had to wait a long time to place an order on the kiosk. The place was pretty dirty (tons of dirty tables and trash under the booths) so I guess they have no one to buss tables. The PRICES HAVE GONE WAY UP! Like $2-4 each entree (but no increase in quality or portion size). Lastly, I've hardly ever seen the same person working there all the times Ive been here over the years so that speaks to me that the turnover rate is very high, which means unhappy employees that dont care about anything. The latest incarnation of the Panera Bread Company has just opened its newest restaurant in Garland, and we had to check it out! We came on a very busy Friday night. The restaurant's chopped-up interior layout of several rooms made it look crushed, as several large groups filled spaces. But the Fire Marshal sign said the store could hold 146 people, and we didn't see that many folks, so we knew there had to be some space for us somewhere. We found some in the "Kiosk ordering" area, which lets you skip the line and order from your phone. We will check that out another time. Tonight we were able to walk in and order. The new-look menu was a confusing mishmash of colorful photos on one side and, 90 degrees offset, lots of text. We finally figured out what was where and were able to order. I think I will try and figure out the order from the phone kiosk system next time to avoid this back-and-forth where-are-all-the-offerings confusion. They love the up-sells here: extra pastry with the meal for .99, or an "add-on" (which is apparently different from the extra pastry) for 3.99. For the record -- an "add on" is a side item, and an extra pastry is an extra pastry, even when no pastry comes with the meal. As I said, the menu and ordering is confusing. Using their kiosk (I hope) will allow me to see everything on the menu without talking to any Panera humans, unless I want to, (and I don't). I ordered the Thai Garden Chicken Wonton Bowl, which was very nice, except for the texture of the puréed mushy chicken in the wontons. Mushroom broth was very smooth, lots of gorgeous fresh veggies supplying texture and flavor, and the wonton filling was nicely spiced with fresh ginger. But the texture of the wonton filling was so mushy I thought the filling was cheese -- that chicken was baby-food smooth. I would prefer real Asian won ton texture of a fine diced meat to Panera's baby food filling. My dining partner got the turkey avocado BLT, served on fresh baked bread with lovely fresh ingredients. She had slices turkey breast that had texture and flavor. It was a good sandwich, but bland and to my taste it needed texture -- maybe toast the bread or something. She loved it though, so it's a personal preference! Four stars would have been five without the baby food wontons and the overwhelmingly confusing menu presentation. If we come back, I'll have to figure out the kiosk system -- it had to be easier than dealing with the overhead menu. read more

2 stars for great food, 0 stars for service. I have only been to this location twice and both times I was very unhappy with the service. The first time I came with 3 friends. All of their food was delivered and mine was missed. So I sat and watched everyone else eat and I took my to go. Today I came in, saw that there were only 8 people seated, ordered and waited 20 mins., ask the young man if mine was ready yet, he asked and reported back it would be 10 mins. :(. I looked around and people around me who came in after me had already been served. I went to the front, asked for the manager. He came out apologizing for being in his office. The manager apologized and asked if I wanted a refund - I wanted my food. He had it made to go and asked if I wanted a refund - NO THANKS. I will not return to this location. Not my favorite Panera location. The food is what you would expect from Panera Bread and the staff is friendly and helpful. But there are a lot of little things that really bug me about this place. The kiosk at the front of the store where you can order your food on the touchpads is not taken care of. There are never enough pagers or cups. One time I came, I ordered and once I got the part where I had to enter the pager number, noticed that none of the kiosks had one available. I had to go to the cashier. The other gripe I have is there are almost no outlets anywhere. Panera is awesome in that it offers free wifi and allows people like me to come and get some work done if they need to get away from their normal workspace. But with no outlets, I can't stay very long at all. Usually when I stay like this I order a drink and a couple of things from the bakery, but when I don't expect to stay long, why should I bother to get those things. While I like Panera in general, this is not a location that I like to come to often. read more

Came to have lunch with a friend and ordered food to go but when I got into my car and checked my bag, they had given me the wrong thing. I had to go back in to let them know that they gave me the wrong order. I waited about 5 minutes and decided to see how much longer my order was going to take, and the person at the counter hadn't even put in my correct order! AGAIN WAITING AND WAITING AND WAITING! This was my first time at Panera Bread for lunch. Usually I just go to.the one by my job in Addison and it is just through the drive through for.their breakfast which I love. I decided to go to the one in Firewheel with my daughter. I waited in line for.20.minutes and when I got up to the register, I was still having issues and the cashier didn't even offer to help. We sat down and waited exactly 30 minutes for our food!! My ceasar salad was about 95% romaine and hardly had any dressing at all and hardly any parm and ZERO seasoning. Worst Cesar ever. Several people were complaining about the wait. My daughter had the Tai chicken salad and she liked it but the flat bread Tai sandwich not so much, After we started eating, they forgot our desserts so we had to wait for that as well. After several times of having orders messed up, I thought I should write a review. We ordered 4 meals tonight from curbside pick up (7/29). When my husband arrived home we found that we were missing my soup and my daughter's bread bowl. When we called up to the restaurant we were told they are out of bread bowls- yet we were never told this and were charged for it. With prompting we worked out getting a baguette. The manager told us she would give us some cookies for our trouble. When my husband arrived the girl who brought out the was very unfriendly and unapologetic even though she had brought out the original order and knew he had had to come back. As for the cookies? One cookie for 4 people. Really?? This store has poor ratings. The franchise owners need to start dealing with the poor service. read more

Walked in yesterday only to see no one at the counter and a woman with her small child having difficulty figuring out the self order tablets. After a while of trying they left. My wife and I stood around waiting for someone to come to the counter to attend to us. 5 min later we decided to just try the self order tablets, we then discovered why the lady before us was having trouble. The tablets weren't taking payment, something was wrong with the card readers and they all kept declining the sales. Finally after much frustration we went back to the counter, at this point there was someone by the bread ovens who could clearly see us and when I called out for help several times to this person, they just stared at me and ran off around a corner. This was terrible service and poor management of a store. Panera I'm not gonna stand there and beg you to take my money!!!! Needless to say we left and just went to McAlister's. Won't be going back. I waited for the excitement to die down before going, since every time I drove past it was beyond packed. Now the restaurant has mellowed out and the wait is not as astronomical. I have since been twice and enjoyed each visit. The second visit I used the drive thru, and despite there being 6 or so cars in front of me I was able to get my food in 10-15 minutes. I've ordered delivery several times and they always forget something. Until today, they forgot my drink, but today they forgot my chili. The driver explained what happened to my drink and had already contacted the store to get another one, which does not taste like what I ordered. The driver did finally bring my chili, I gave her a tip because none of this was her fault and I appreciated the effort she exerted to get the order right. For the price I didn't feel the value was there. $17.00 for a sandwich that was bland, very bland potato soup, a drink, and a cookie that was a very badly done version of an Oreo. I paid .99 for a cookie about the size of an Oreo (1, singular). Hard, hardly any flavor, and the price was unacceptable. We all kind of scoffed at the size and price of the cookie. Constantly running out of things. How can you sell partial of an order but not opt to reduce the price? Bread comes with the soup, if you are out of the bread, then don't charge me for the bread. My family and I visited this location on a whim after a trip to Firewheel Towncenter. I was impressed by the wide variety of menu items. It took some time to decide upon the famous Panera Bread mac n cheese and a half sandwich. I decided to use the ordering kiosk since I was a newb and thought it would help me navigate the ordering process. I decided upon a lemonade as well and a frosted brownie for my kid to sweeten the temper she had after a horrifying encounter with Santa prior to our lunch. A short time after ordering, someone brought our food out to us. I was surprised to see that both the mac n cheese and my husband's soup included a hunk of bread along side. All this together made a huge meal that tasted fresh and delicious. I spied a hot cocoa offering that includes chocolate chip marshmallows. That sounds great! I can't wait to try more. read more

I was very disappointed in the bacon tomato grilled cheese sandwich. The sandwich cost $10 and had two thin slices of bacon and a small amount of cheese in between two large pieces of thick bread. I've never eaten at this Panera bread before but have really enjoyed several other locations over the years. The entire process was a disappointment. I called them to place an order for pick up. I was on my way home from work and I was driving on George Bush. They said that they required me to pay for the sandwich in advance. Well since I was driving on George Bush I wasn't able to give them a credit card number. So, I had to wait and place the order once I got to the restaurant. I placed the order, but no one told me I had to go to another area in the restaurant to pick up my order. So I just stood around waiting and waiting until I finally asked someone is there somewhere I'm supposed to go. The service was bad and the food was even worse. My husband was home sick and had requested that sandwich, I guess it looked better on the internet. I'm very disappointed in this Panera bread. I just paid 34 dollars for 2 kids meals, 2 "large" chicken Caesar Salads, and 2 chocolate chip cookies. No drinks. The "large" Chicken Caesar Salads were not large....they were more like small dinner salads with a very small amount of chicken. The lettuce was not fresh, some of it was brown. My kids had a grilled cheese and a ham and cheese sandwich....the "meal" came with the small sandwiches and a tube of yogurt, not drink, no fruit. This is the second time we have eaten at this location --- I have a strong feeling of being overcharged for extremely mediocre food...and all of the portions were way too small.
