Half a beef sandwich and Southwest Chicken Ranch Salad
    Francess L.

I ordered sandwich and southwestern salad. The sandwich was tasty but I didn't have the salad. I opt for trying the broccoli and cheese soup. It was very tasty. I had to wait a bit longer to pick up my order which was sitting there for a few minutes (the device that I had to alert me) unfortunately was not working! I love the space and lighting. Made for a relaxing and quick lunch. Didn't expect to pay as much for the order though.

Who orders a green goddess chicken salad and they give you no chicken? Plus all they really gave me was just lettuce. Offered to give me a free entree on my Panera card, no please give mine my money back.

Friendly service but restaurant was very dirty We like Panera a lot but please, get the sweeper out every once in a while and also wipe down tables so customers don't have to Need some adult supervision at this location

This is a wonderful place to get quick, hearty, and hot meals. I usually get the soups, which are delicious and healthy. This time I got the sandwiches. They were warm, with just the the right amount of meat, cheese, and sauces. The bread was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The bread is addictive, even if eaten alone. The desserts are added to the meal for 99 cents. I enjoyed a delicious chocolate chip cookie that tasted homemade. My drink was the agave lemonade, which was not too sweet or tart, but just right. Panera bread follows COVID-19 guidelines. I went through the drive thru to order food. They also offer curbside pick-up and delivery. The staff wore masks and gloves, and were very cordial and friendly.

Not sure what this is in my drink. But I know it doesn't belong in a Mango Charged Lemonade. This is the second time this week. Hopefully this isn't mold from not cleaning the machine.

Black and Burnt bread from Gurnee Panera Bread

I eat from Panera Bread often, too often to be precise. The other night, I had the worst experience I've ever had at a Panera Bread in Gurnee. I understand we're all human, and mistakes happen, but this was just one mistake after another. I ordered a bread BOWL of soup. I received my bread cup, the size you get when you order a cup of soup, not a bowl of soup. I usually order from another Panera location and they always give me a bowl of soup, after all you are paying for a Bread BOWL not a bread CUP, I thought that's why it's called a bread bowl. They also forgot the croutons. In my order was also a 1/2 a dozen bagels and 2 tubs of cream cheese, of course they forgot to add any knives to spread the 2 tubs of cream cheese and there were 2 napkins, yes 2 napkins, for an order of 6 bagels, 2 tubs of cream cheese, a full sized sandwich and a bread CUP of soup. Then, I looked at the bread that was thrown in there for the sides. Well, I'll let the pictures tell you that part of this story. So, I contacted Panera corporate and explained what happened. Panera Corp. informed me that when you buy a bread bowl, it only comes with a 4 oz. small cup serving, I'm not sure how a cup of soup equates into a Bread Bowl, as the word bread bowl indicates to me, a bowl of soup? And, of course, the bread bowl is more expensive than an actual bowl of soup. This is the first & only Panera I've been to that only puts a small soup in with the bread bowl to go order. In fact, there It wasn't enough soup to even fill the little hole created in the loaf after you pulled out the center bread plug. Then I told them that they had forgotten the croutons, that there was ONLY 2 napkins for the entire order, one spoon and no knives to spread any cream cheese from the 2 tubs I purchased for the bagels. I told them how 1 piece of bread was baked correctly and the other piece of bread was burnt & black. Panera Corporate told me to contact the delivery company because they are the ones responsible. No "I'm sorry" just "we are unable to compensate you; you'll need to contact Door Dash. Now that's taking responsibility for your company name. How is a food delivery company responsible for how Panera burns, forgets, shorts the serving size and doesn't care? Door Dash gave me a refund for the soup, and that's all they would take responsibility for; the other $37.00 was on me. It was the worst experience, and I'll never go back there again. It's unfortunate for Panera because due to my lifestyle, I order out often, and I used to order from Panera at least twice a week. Of course, that was from another location that actually gave you a BOWL of soup, correct utensils, more than 2 napkins, and no burnt bread. Fortunately, there are plenty of restaurants that both care and deliver. It's actually going to be a nice change, and I'm going to give some of the smaller, non-corporate Mom n Pop restaurants a try. What do you think an extra 4 oz of soup would have cost Panera Bread to put in its bread bowl? 25 cents, 50 cents? So just be aware that per Panera's policy, when you buy a bread bowl of soup, you are ONLY getting a 4 oz cup of soup, even though they charge more than an 8 oz. bowl of soup They might also want to add more than 2 napkins for an order this size, possibly some knives to spread 2 tubs of cream cheese on the bagels and the croutons that go with the soup and baked, not burnt bread. Then, to add insult to injury the next morning when we sat down to eat some bagels, we found out the bagels were beyond chewy; they were chewy like bagels that have been frozen too long. They were terrible! It was pretty entertaining, watching my dogs try to chew them before giving up and swallowing them down in one gulp.

Panera finally decided to open, surprisingly as they've been struggling to open in the morning for some reason. Maybe the MLK holiday motivates them to staff up. Place is busy but apparently management forgot to direct anyone to take care of the bathrooms for a few days, at least. Hope the kitchen is cleaned more regularly, but I'm sticking to coffee just in case. C'mon Panera, you can do better, I know ya can, since I've been a loyal customer for years, I know you can do better!

Food is good, but make sure you go inside. The drive-thru takes upwards of 20 minutes to get any sort of food even at non peak times.

Most Panera Bread locations forget the Five Spice Powder on the one entrée that I order: Asian Sesame Chicken Salad. But I keep coming back.

They take longer to make but they are economical and extremely nutritious. You can control the salt and fat content of your soup. Among my current favorites are the Ski Country Chili Mix and the Beef Barley Stew Mix. After a while, you begin to create your own version of these. I'll often substitute a lower fat meat like ground turkey or different vegetables than called for. My variations are a creative way to make the soup mine. Frontier includes the seasoning packets so you don't have to worry about that. I love adding unique twists like wine or sherry to enhance the flavors. My only complaint about Frontier is that they stop making some of the recipes, ones I loved so much. For instance the Red Bean Gumbo or the Wheat Berry Chili are no longer available. The New Mexico Mesa Stew was changed to an "instant" variety and it is not nearly as good! They still have great soups available. Try a few of the hearty ones. You'll love them.

Among the many things we scooped up were two Pacific Rim soup mixes, because I've always been a soup guy. Last month I whipped up a batch of their Pacific Rim Gingered Carrot & Coconut Soup. I had to add 2 whole pounds of cut up carrots, four cups of broth, a TB of brown sugar, and a can of unsweetened coconut milk. It went on the stovetop and an hour later (with an assist from my immersion blender) it was ready. It yielded 8 servings and was pretty good. Today I cooked up my second batch of their soup -this one had the tongue twisting name of "Nebraska Barn Raising Split Pea". I had to add 6 cups of broth and I swapped out some diced chicken from the freezer instead of the bacon they suggested. This time I made it in a crockpot instead of on the stovetop. You can either cook it on low for 4-5 hours or on high for 8 hours. I put it on low in the morning and by the time lunch rolled around at 1:00 i checked it and it was perfect. I was super happy with the way it came out and after it cools down I'll package it into some containers for refrigerating and freezing.

My favorite items to get here are the Tom Yum soup, they let you choose the protein and the spice level and have an option for both bowl or a cup. The cup is about a pint size which is a great portion. I love getting the Tofu with this soup because I feel like it soaks in the flavor and breaks up the yummy spices. For the different levels of spice, just a heads up that there is a huge difference for a medium in a cup versus a medium in a bowl. Both are delish, but the cup medium is SPICY in the best way. I also really enjoy their basil fried rice with chicken. You can take the sauteed char from the basil and the medium in this is also spot on for us. Maybe one day I'll be brave enough to try a higher heat, because Thai chilis are no joke! All in all, we frequent here often since moving up here and are so glad to have a staple in the area and in our regular rotation.
