I've been coming to this Panera for many years, always just dropping by for bagels or small little treats. I am floored by their Tomato Basil Loaf. I came just to pick up a reward breakfast sandwich and I could not resist the gorgeousness of the Tomato Basil Loaf resting on the top rack. It is so unique in flavor with a cinnamon sugar crumble on top, nice and soft on the inside and a beautiful crust on the outside, only $5.79! The Steak and Egg Everything Bagel sandwich was pretty amazing. The steak was not overcooked and tough, but was tender. The steak, eggs and cheese paired so well with the Everything Bagel. This really is the worst Panera Bread. I've been to Pico Rivera too. That one has ripped booths! The wifi never works here. I've had to leave on account of it not functioning. One time it was just slow. I ordered a Green Goddess salad. Paid extra for chicken and chopped bacon. Both were skimped on. The latte was also pure coffee. So more like an iced coffee. The manager hires incompetent workers who can't simply throw bacon bits on a salad in the right proportions. Bad Panera. Go to Pasadena or Glendale if you want a good experience. I've been a customer of this Panera for about 20 yrs now. Lately it's really gone downhill. Seems like a lot of poor decisions are being made for financial reasons, maybe they're struggling economically but the changes they've made in the last year are making things worse. They no longer keep an adequate supply of fresh bagels in stock. It really looks sad to walk in at 10am and see a wall of empty bagel racks behind the cashier! They eliminated the small coffee cups to force a larger more expensive minimum size on customers. They took the cups away from the kiosk areas (i was told it was to prevent stealing). Ok, but it defeats the point of the kiosk for people who want a drink , since I now have to wait in line for a cup (or awkwardly cut in line to ask for a cup). The available coffee selections have dwindled to one or two options only. There is usually only one register open, even when the line is long. Not sure if they have a real manager on duty. Employees are nice but the whole place feels neglected and understaffed. Money spent on recent remodel doesn't seem to have a purpose (why do they hate blue, and why would you ever put a non-frosted lightbulb in a non-frosted globe lamp...it's blinding? ). I used to visit this place a lot just to get a cup of coffee and a bagel. It's hardly worth the trip anymore. I hope they can recover before going out of business. read more

For the second time I have gone in to get a bagel. I like the cinnamon crunch bagel. I asked for it to be toasted. What I get is a cinnamon crunch bagel that tastes like an everything bagel. I did like that they posted the calories in each item on the menu board. Something us Americans should be conscious of, since we are an obese trending nation. I ordered the half strawberry poppy seed chicken salad and half turkey sandwich. I just wanted the half salad, but it wasn't an option...it was either a full salad or half salad and half sandwich. The salad was refreshing with strawberries and blueberries. I never got a chance to taste my sandwich because I was full. My little combo with a french baguette (crispy outside with chewy center..yum yum) was about $12. This location has fallen off horribly. They are consistently out of main menu items (no soup for an entire week, no soda for an entire week, no bagels at 8am on a Saturday). They let you order out of stock items on the app and then don't say anything about the error until you arrive to pick up the item. They've consistently forgotten major components of my order that I paid for (e.g., no bacon on a bacon egg and cheese sandwich). When I call to report the issue, they never pick up the phone, even during non-peak hours. Find a more reliable location. read more

I usually do the online order for pickup and every time it's ready for me to pick up within 5 min of placing the order. What a RIIIIPPPPPP! For two rather small sandwiches, two drinks, a bowl of soup and one muffin our total came to $27 bucks!! When the sandwich came, however.....it had two slices of tomatoes, two papppper thin slices of mozzarella, each the size of a half dollar, two sun dried tomatoes and slivers of fresh basil, sandwiched between two thick pieces of ciabatta bread....so disappointing I can't tell you...I felt like I was eating a plain tomato sandwich...EPIC FAIL! The broccoli cheddar soup was actually pretty tasty but...#1 we didn't order it in a bread bowl, we ordered it in a regular bowl but arrived in a bread bowl (but fine...we looked the other way) and #2, when we got to the bottom of the bowl, we realized that HALF the bowl was still filled with bread and there was maybe an inch and a half of soup in the bowl, we were blown away! But still didn't say anything... The only reason I'm giving this place a 2 star rating is because the guy behind the counter who took my order was super duper nice and helpful and for the Cobbestone Sweet Roll, which is a cinnamon raisin roll mixed with chunks of apples and spices, topped with streusel and white icing...pretty dannng good...but I doubt I'll be back to Panera Bread again....sorry! :-/ read more

I came here so many times to study. It gets a little loud during lunch hours, but I just put on my noise cancelling headphones, and I'm good. I'm obsessed with their Napa Almond Chicken Salad Sandwich. I tried a few of their other sandwiches and paninis, and I have to say that Napa Almond is the best. It tastes light and fresh, and doesn't give me that bloated feeling at the end. Love it! I've tried their drinks (mango smoothie, green tea), and they were a huge disappointment. The mango smoothie was like a lackluster wannabe boba drink and their green tea had this weird sweetener added to it that made me throw it away after a few sips. Why don't they have more Panera bread locations? There are only 2 that I go to because those are the closest to nela but these are still out of my way most of the time. The service is kinda bad. Look, I don't know when this Panera Bread has their ingredients delivered, but try not to go Sunday night. They had no bread bowls, no soup, no coffee (either from the tubs accessible to customers or from the cappuccino machine they have in the back) it was kinda funny lmao. Over the span of a year I have become more and more disappointed with this particular Panera Bread and that of every Panera Bread I have ever visited. First and foremost, the prices that they charge for their food is ludicrous. Now, if they gave generous portions I'd beg to differ, but they don't. I ordered a bowl of chicken noodle soup today for lunch and I was basically given a bowl of chicken broth. Maybe two noodles and three or four pieces of carrot and celery and forget about there being any chicken in it. I just about returned it and walked out for my last time. My mom got the chicken cesar salad, actually, a chicken salad since they decided to put maybe 1/2 a teaspoon of dressing in the salad. This has happened more than once too. Not one time, but every time I have dined here and have gotten the "chicken noodle" soup. More than once when I have been here they have been out of lemon and butter and have not been in any hurry to replenish as well as not been in any hurry to clean any dirty tables. I understand that it gets very busy here, but come on. And there's absolutely no excuse for giving me a bowl of chicken broth when I paid for chicken noodle soup. Other rants that I'd like to make: Sandwiches always come with barely any meat on them. I have gotten chicken sandwiches many times here and there have been two strips of chicken and then tons and tons of lettuce to make up for the fact that they were chintzy with their meat. They chintz out on the mayo, chipotle mayo, or any spread that they put on your sandwiches. You pretty much have to ask for double or triple dressing for the salad. Soup in a bread bowl? Forgetaboutit. More like just bread bowl sans the soup. And last but not least, if you EVER ask for anything special with your food, you might wanna think twice. Cashiers and employees here do not listen to anything that you say and do not understand anything that you say.I had to special order my steak salad once and that was nothing more than a disaster. All I said was that I wanted the cheese on the side and the reduction dressing on the side too but to put the regular dressing in my salad. Instead I got all dressings put in my salad and a few chunks of cheese in there too, it looked like the had put the cheese in and then picked it out. I agree with Hailey Z.'s review dated 5/11/12, but one good thing about this restaurant is they have plenty of tables and you don't feel like a sardine as you would when going to Starbuck's. Good place to meet the friends in a casual environment if you are on the way to the gym and don't feel like dressing to the nines. Free Parking. Close to Sport Chalet, Home Goods, AT&T, Taylors, Sprouts and a bunch of other stores within walking distance. CONS: Management seems to be lacking. Got here first thing in the morning and the one napkin dispenser was completely empty. Had to flag down a chef because the cashiers were too busy. He was kind enough to fill it up. Crumbs all over hell and back. One employee should be assigned to clean-up duty with a little battery operated vacuum cleaner and rags to wipe tables and chairs down. The food isn't anything to write home about. I had an egg sandwich and the bread was soggy. The latte was O.K.. The smoothies looked good and my friends seemed to like them. I should have opted for one of those. I've had the salads and they were horrible. The only thing I liked in the past were their bagels.
