Worst sandwich I've had. Tables were a mess. Had to ask staff to clean off a table. Then the table was sopping wet. This isnt rocket science, it wasn't that busy, also, most people order from the Kiosks. The sandwich was atrocious. Chicken Fontega(?) is usually my go to when pressed to eat here. The cheese wasn't melted. Just a giant clump of whatever white cheese (Mozzarella?). The "cooks" clearly see that it wasn't melted, yet served it anyway. Wild wild wild. read more

I've always loved Panera. Ordered the French onion soup. I asked the girl if any bread came in the soup with the cheese over the top like you would expect a French onion soup to be served. she said no just the cheese. I opted for the bread on the side. They put croutons in the soup. Fine, I'll deal with it. Just preferred a fruit instead of two breads. Took a couple bites, noticed how it didn't taste that great. That's OK not everything is Michelin starred. But then I found foil or metal shavings in the soup. OK whatever I got a refund and went to leave. I stopped to mention that she had the wrong information about the soup. She completely ignored me until I gave up and walked out. I get it, she doesn't want a Karen situation. Neither do I. Only meant to help her out. Definitely won't be back to that location. Management was 10 out of 10. read more

Okay I'm not a Panera fan. My wife is. The last time I went here they were on the East side of Douglas in the strip center. I had mold on my bread which they tried to deny and clearly it wasn't daily baked. Now they are on West side and have a drive up. I met a friend here for lunch twice and clearly they've stepped up their game. My food was fresh and properly prepared and served in a timely fashion. Both times I ordered on kiosk and my friend ordered on the app. Currently the atmosphere and clean environment are a step up. Not idea for supper but I like the choice of a fruit cup and it's come back on my own for lunch. read more

This isn't the first time they messed up my order. Before I ordered the ranch Cobb salad, but instead got a Greek goddess salad. I love the food at Panera but it is so immensely disappointing to get the wrong thing. But today I just wanted a ranch Cobb salad with no bacon I didn't mean strip the salad of the onions too. Inept service here. I have visited both Paneras in Lee's Summit, and this has some issues with the staff they hire. I'm not sure if they come here directly from the unemployment office but someone needs to teach them a thing or two about customer service. I was here shortly after lunch time, eating my lunch and you would have thought they were closing for the day. A member was cleaning the floor, sweeping the carpet??? And was literally getting near my feet. She was very obviously trying to get me to move. In fact I asked her, and she had the audacity to look around for a place for me to sit. I asked if she minded, and she was like this is a part of my job. It seemed to me that she lacked common sense. He later did come and explain to me that she was special needs, and that they have this "program". It amazes me how places like this appear to do the honorable thing hiring people like this, and it's mainly for the tax credit, but in the end they are hurting their own customer service. I did complain to the manager who quickly spoke to her and explained the logic of cleaning when customers are near. Additionally, no hot coffee when I arrived in the afternoon? Most Paneras have hot coffee available until 9, when they close. read more

Ordered bagels to-go and when I asked for them to be toasted the cashier pointed toward the trash receptacle / coffee bar area and said there's the toaster. I was confuses because I've never had to toast my own bagels at a bagel shop/ bakery. Plus, there were 4 people waiting in line for the toaster. I asked if that was the only toaster and she said yes. As I approached the toaster the people in front of me were also grumbling about it. I know I sounds spoiled, but it's odd to have a "toast your own" station that's crammed into a small space, with the toaster placed on top of the microwave, that's over the trash receptacle. Also, those wanting coffee couldn't access the pots because of the combusted area with people waiting to use the one toaster. Random, at best. Come on, Panera! We expect better service. This location is horrible!!! Staff is rude. Food is poor quality & typically wrong/missing something. They forgot the chips & the sauce. The cashier was annoyed about having to go back & get it. Best Bagels in town! Panera has bagels and their toppings down to a "T". Dining area is clean, bright, comfy and a great place to have a warm beverage and a bagel on a cold winter afternoon. They are always busy and parking can be a pain in the relatively small lot that serves several businesses in that strip but Panera's is worth it. Service is typically fast and friendly and the goodies are always fresh. You can't go wrong with Panera! Update: I dropped my ratings from 5 to 4 stars because I tried Panera's baguettes and found them to be heavy, doughy and overpriced. Do not recommend. Bagels still get 5 stars though. Target's Artisan bread line Baguettes are wonderful! Try them. Best I could find in town. read more

Honestly, I really dislike Panera. I think their sandwiches taste like something I can make at home, and their soup is just about Campbell's can quality. However, I ended up getting pulled here for a meeting, so I decided to make do with just a drink. First, the place was absolutely dead on this Sunday early evening...excellent. The restaurant was clean and your standard Panera. The staff seemed miserable. The woman who took my order and the guy who gave me my drink both seemed like they couldn't wait for the first second they could stop dealing with us lowly customers. So, I got an iced green tea. Excellent! However, it was sweetened. Disgusting. They never mention anything about it being sweetened...and overly sweetened with artificial, nasty sweetener at that. One of the more disgusting takes on "tea" that I have ever had. And I've never seen green tea look that neon green before... Panera continue to disappoint more with every visit. Not just this Panera, but this one is a bit worse than the others in the service department. read more

Panera keeps injecting a new menu item from time to time. I have to say all of the new ones have been winners. Case in point is the new Chopped Chicken Cobb with Avocado Salad. Add a little salt and a bunch of pepper to this bowl and you have a damn nice lunch. I like my foods highly seasoned... especially avocados... the perfect salt and pepper veggie. Love them. The new Roasted Turkey & Avocado BLT is also a winner. Again... you can put ripe avocado on a bed of sawdust and I am probably going to eat it anyway. I just have to give these guys 5 stars. It's not like anyone should be expecting fabulous. Panera is fast food. Having said that, I think the important thing is service. The counter people are friendly and efficient. The kitchen people are as well. The food is as expected, but at least there are choices beyond burgers. But the reason I decided to write THIS review is because I just got my coffee and pastry (breakfast of champions!!) the dark roast was empty... When I mentioned it, they had the new pot out immediately. Very important attribute first thing in the morning! Also.. Today's Panera visit wasn't anything like what it typically is. The tuna salad sandwich had very little tuna on it. We asked for French baguette bread with the soup, received no bread. I usually love this location but today I tried the new passion fruit smoothie and it wasn't blended nearly at all. There were huge chunks of ice making it rather difficult to enjoy. I'd mention to your staff to please take their time blending the smoothies! I watched him barely blend my smoothie and then he didn't make the right size either. I order rapid pick up from this Douglas Rd location at least once a week and often twice. The food is good the people are always friendly, but they cannot figure out how to properly fill a rapid pick up order. There is something missing or wrong, every single time. Not exaggerating at all. For me, every single time. It should not be my job to completely unpack my order to make sure it's right, but let me tell you, if you don't you will arrive home without something. Really fun when it's your wife's entire breakfast that's missing, or your granddaughters fruit cup. Every single time. If you asked for a large drink cup, you will likely get a small. Ordered food using rapid pick. The food wasn't on the shelf so we went to the counter to see what was going on. We had to get someone's attention because no one acknowledged us after standing there for at least 5 minutes. They then informed us that they didn't have the types of cookies we ordered, so we picked something else out and took our bag home. After getting settled in back home and all ready to eat, we discovered that only one of our meals was there. My boyfriend's meal was missing and at this point he was pretty upset because he was sick and we'd already had issues with the order. We called the store to tell them what happened and they told us we would get a free dessert when we came to pick up the meal. Went all the way back to pick up the food a second time and there was no dessert, coupon, etc. Didn't feel like going to the counter and trying to get their attention again because my boyfriend was sick and we were both just ready to eat. My boyfriend responded to the email survey and said he would like someone to contact him but no one ever did. Service here was horrible and it's unfortunate that we happened to choose this place to eat when my boyfriend was sick. Just wanted some good food to help him feel better but it just made us stressed. Will only be going to the Chipman location from now on. read more

And apparently this is THE spot for lunch on this end of town as the line can be long and the parking lot can be full around 11-2 on any given weekday. It's always worth it, though. Their soup is homey and heartening, their pastries are sinfully fresh and sweet, and their salads are healthy yet delicious. And don't forget their mixed iced and hot drinks, bagels, and smoothies. Panera is Panera...reviewing chains, for me, is rarely about the food, b/c it's so homogenized. It's about the individual store's setup and customer service, for the most part. Foodwise, I haven't any real complaints...Panera's still one of the better options in this region as far as bagels go...not legit like a bagel you'd get in NY, but about as good as it gets in the midwest. And they have a good selection of flavors. The soups have always treated me well...the sandwiches lean almost exclusively to chicken and turkey, two meats that ick me out when presented in luncheon meat form, so I usually get the Mediterranean veggie sandwich, which is very flavorful and filling. The reason that I steer clear of this location in favor of the other one in town and others in the metro is that the setup isn't great, and, quite frankly, is getting a little run-down and shabby. It's not the most spacious Panera I've been in, occupying a rather narrow storefront in a strip mall...so it's deep and narrow. This means that you can't see the menu boards without being right up at the registers...if there's a line, you're too far back, and at an odd angle to see, and if you want anything from the bakery case, it's behind you by the time you order. It's just an awkward setup. There isn't much room for a drink station, so they have separated the hot beverage bar from the soft drink fountain, one is up by the front door, and the other is crammed into a back alcove by the restrooms. Also, the dining room is dim, partially due to the shape of the space...all the windows are up in the front by the ordering counter, none are in the main dining area, and the benches/booths are getting pretty decrepit and broken down. I don't like sitting down into a pothole of broken springs, and while I don't mind split vinyl in a dive bar, in a sit-down restaurant of any nature, it's a little offputting. Finally, there have been numerous times I've been there, at all different times of day, and found empty coffee carafes and half-and-half pitchers, which is highly irritating, when I could have gone across the street to Starbucks. Anyway, food is as solid as any Panera, but pick it up vs. dine in, because this place is a tad depressing. read more

Really disappointing - their new turkey/cradberry Flatbread sandwich was a real let down. Ton of spinach leaves with 4 one inch square thin slices of turkey with a pungent sweet spread. This Panera is okay if you are dining in but the rapid pick up is horrible. Every time I order through rapid pick up my meal is never there on the shelf on time. Today I had a pick up order for 10:10 and I didn't get my order until 10:20. So if you want rapid pick up put the pick up time for at least ten minutes before you will be there. This was the first time my company used this store for a box lunch for a working lunch an audit so this was a important event. First they sent out our lunches missing the soup and we had to send our employee back to get the rest of our order, which put our working lunch and our audit behind schedule. As if that was not bad enough not one single piece of the bacon on our sandwiches seemed to have been completely cooked. I also have worked for a local lees summit restaurant that does a lot of catering and feel like this store dropped the ball on this order don't feel they were very efficient probably will not use them again. read more
